And thus, an entire generation was inspired to resolve Death Cloud against Wheeler as many times as humanly possible.
Games 1 and 2 are some of the cleanest and most brutal one sided executions I've seen yet on this series.
Pox is my favorite. Serge must have felt sooooo good.

What a great idea! Thanks Ben Wheeler for the idea of putting death cloud in my casual commander deck!
I think wheeler was more impressed than anything at that death cloud on T3
Not only that, a death cloud that left serge with 4 mana.
If you turn up the volume, you can actually hear Wheeler's soul leaving his body as that Death Cloud resolves.
I wonder if that turn 3 Death Cloud stunlocked Wheeler harder than when he got double stifled at the New Years Judge Tower+Highlander stream
Doesn't help Serge immediately goes into a graveyard-hating planeswalker. Some real kryptonite for Ben.
I mean the double stifle wrecked him so hard he cast a sorcery at instant speed
G3 Adventurer had summoning sickness when Wheeler attacked with it as it was ephemerated that turn.
This but also I think they missed a Venture. Whiteplume triggered 3 times total plus one upkeep trigger should have put it on level 4. So it played out as if Wheeler chose not to ephemerate it on rebound.
Serge, you monster I did the math last time.
Anyway, the update is that Wheeler has now won the dice roll for 58.6% of all North 100 Showdown episodes, and you my dear Serge, only won 37.9% of dice rolls.
Serge now has won 9 games out of 29, meaning he has won 31% of games.
Wheeler is still in the lead with a 65.5% win rate overall.

44:44 I love how Wheeler goes on a tangent about not knowing if Serge will play with his cards optimally, then _immediately_ misses the regular initiative upkeep trigger to advance through the dungeon and attacks with a creature that's summoning sick because of the rebounded Ephemerate.
No shade, we all make mistakes, just funny timing imo.
Also, neat that from a gameplay pov it works out being the same as if he had just chosen not to re-bound ephemerate. I guess two wrongs do make a right.
So, 9 and a half minute into the video I've already chuckled at Wheeler and Serge beeing Wheeler and Serge but also audibly laughad at the shenanigans they're pulling out. I can't wait to see the rest and for the next episode to come out already xD Never played this format in my life but I can't stop tuning in the instant I see a new episode come out!

At 45:24 Ben missed an Initiate Trigger, He had one from the ETB and one from beginning of upkeep

Did Wheeler miss a second Initiative trigger on his upkeep at 45:41? One from the Rebounding Ephemerate blinking the Adventurer, then a second just from having the Initiative at the beginning of his upkeep. Just trying to make sure I understand the interaction correctly.
Correct , also the adventurer shouldnt have been able to attack that turn

Great games!! Not sure this would changed anything in those final combats, but in game 3 Serge’s Hive should have kept a +1/+1 counter from the Emperor, only the first strike goes away at EOT.
If you could make this in every week thing, my life would be made better for it.

50:35 I think not attacking with both was the right line here, since White Plume Adventurer was ephemerated that turn and the attack he did make was illegal. Arguments could be made either way, though.
There was a missed Venture trigger, so we could treat the WPA as not having been Ephemerated
Very good point. I came here looking for comments on how crazy Serges losing contamination was but this nullifies that whole play.

Should Serge only be able to pay 3 for death cloud ? The land he played that turn should have came in play tapped correct ?
I know this is 11 months old, but for clarity's sake: Concealed Courtyard says "[It] enters tapped unless you control two or fewer other lands." Since Serge had exactly 2 other lands, it did not need to enter tapped.

I think in game 3 Wheeler should have been down 1 more in the dungeon. 1 for Whiteplum Adventurer, 1 for ephemerate, 1 for upkeep (Missed) and 1 for the rebound of ephemerate
But also he wouldn't have been able to attack with White Plume if it was ephemerated

They keep stressing that the new location is way bigger, but to me it looks the exact same.
They’ve said that they wanted it to look the same on camera as before, just with more room to manoeuvre (case in point, the Batsu AFK where they had space for a separate performance area away from the game table).

I think playing balance in game 2 before the land is always a mistake here specifically because Serge knew Wheeler was holding a land himself. This way Wheeler got to choose if any of his cards was worth going down in mana for. If we didn't knew that Wheeler was holding a land (and without hindsight of him having Reclamation) Serges play makes a lot more sense tho. Now he might actually cause Wheeler to discard his best cards since going down in mana means he may not even get to play them anyway.
I would love to see a stacks deck go up against that crazy cursepox deck.
Funny, in wheelers rebound of the Ephemerate, he missed that the Initiative advances him 1 Dungeon as well as the fact that he can't attack, if he rebounds.
So that means, that the turn was pretty much exactly played, as if he didn't rebound it😂😂

Can someone explain to me the "points" when they are introducing their decks and name off 3 cards?
canadian highlander allows any card (with the exception of ante cards and sharahzad, probably a few others that were removed from the game entirely like invoke predjudice), but very powerful cards like power 9 are assigned a points value, and a deck can only contain at most ten points. this allows you to use a card like black lotus, but it's like 7 points or something so it leaves less room for other powerful cards
