Strangely Chit Chaff is a close second for me. If they run out of collections to sort they should just start opening sealed product to sort it. Not like the current crack a pack where they discuss every card in detail as a sort of draft thing, but just crack product and talk about where the better cards see play and combos they work in. That sort of thing.
God this series is the best. Not only do Wheeler and Serge show off the coolest decks, they often give some top notch advice on how to become a better player!
Getting to see each deck do what they're good at in the first two games and then getting a good game for #3 is so perfect for this set-up. Fantastic episode.
One card I really recommend for a red Aristocrats deck is Greater Gargadon. It's essentially a 1-mana, unkillable, uncounterable sac outlet for creatures, artifacts and lands. The fact that it can also become a hasty 9/7 for zero mana at instant speed late-game if you're willing to sacrifice your board is also great, though even if it stays in suspend the whole game, it works very well.
Notably suspending a card is an ability, which can be stifled It's even funnier to stifle the trigger that puts a suspended card on the stack when its last time counter is removed though, stranding it in exile
@@ScornfulEg0tist From the CR for suspend: “Suspend N-[cost]” means “If you could begin to cast this card by putting it onto the stack from your hand, you may pay [cost] and exile it with N time counters on it. *This action doesn’t use the stack*.”

Love this series, love this matchup, love it when audio/visual stuff slips past the edits. I enjoy the little peaks behind the curtains. It’s surreal in a way that makes me happy. Also thank you Bengineering for running tech.
Was really fun to watch Aristocrats in action finally. I wish they could do a viewer deck series were people could submit CanLander decks to see how they preform. Could be neat to see once in a while.
I love aristocrats as a deck. It feels so good to watch your opponent use their fatal pushes and whatnot on a card that makes or has already made another body
Serge grabbing jitte in game 1 is not the choice I would’ve made. When the aristocrats player can sac blockers before damage, getting counters on jitte can be a challenge. Shadospear seems like it’s much better against aristocrats. Trample so they can’t chump+sac, and lifelink to last against their blood artists Even if wheeler hadn’t had the daretti to remove the jitte, I doubt serge would’ve been able to get any counters on it.
Agreed. Jitte gets really bad when the opponent can sac blockers. Although, in a vacuum on turn 1 without the carrion feeder info, it might be a defensible play but even then if Wheeler's sac outlet had been something like Goblin Bombardment, Serge would have been hosed.
I was really hoping that Arena all star for Aristocrats, 'Khalni Garden' was in Wheeler's deck, especially after seeing he has the 0/1 tokens anyway for Nissa 😅 great games boys!
I feel like that sounds ambitious for a 4 color deck, even if it's sweet in principle. Wheelers deck has 2 lands that only produce 1 color (forest and urborg)
As someone who has always koved Artistocrats, Ive never considered them bad cards. However, you guys talking about it makes me realize it is, and its hilarious how well they work together
I love to play aristocrats in commander, Ghave being a sac outlet in the command zone is great. It's really cool to see this CHL style even if I never play the format.
I wonder if, much like expressive iteration, showdown of the skalds is better if you can make a land drop the turn you play it otherwise you only have one turn to play up to all four cards. Unless it's better to keep the tempo up in-play on curve? It's hard to say for sure
I'm wondering if there's a version of Serge's list that could be improved by retooling the mana base to make Blood Moon, Magus of the Moon and Price of Progress worth running as a small hate package against greedy manabases
There is and he stated that he purposefully did not do it. Maybe according to Wheeler's advice on how to beat combo with aggro (pressure not disruption).
Wheelers fit is immaculate he looks equally like he’s ready to relax on the beach and fire me for poor performance at the same time. It’s called balance.
That's really interesting about Urza's Saga. I didn't catch that it says Mana Cost 0 or 1, instead of mana value. I think I've cheated with that card more than a few times now! Oops.
Can I just ask, that block with the elemental and Scooze against the Karn-struct all sauced up, If Serge orders the blocks to kill the Scooze first, does that shrink the Elemental and let a point of damage through? Or have I missed something/It doesn't work like that?
If you want an aristocrats allstar planeswalker, I HIGHLY recommend Tevesh Szat. That card is pushed for 5 mana even if his ult does nothing in your format.
Fantastic games, wonderful match to watch. I would love to see Serge win a match. Not like this is scripted content where that can be decided. But it would be nice to see, I think we’ve seen it once, maybe twice.
still counting down the days until we see the first 5 hour North 100 where Wheeler plays Mono White Ruin your evening
I believe the decks current iteration is orzhov so its slightly faster. We get 4.5 hours instead of five
The best version, and the one that'll be played on N100 showdown will be Mono-White

Wheeler's charisma is just off the charts. The rapport between Serge and Wheeler is top shelf too, easily the best mtg content online

I'm so happy to see a 4 color aristocrats deck. I used to run a version of that in EDH
