If you’re playing Raven’s Crime, you could use the 7-point deck name “That’s so Raven’s Crime”. You could also go for the Scam angle with “Rack-eteering” or “Rat-Level Marketing” or “Multi-Rat Marketing”. Or you could go for the plain discard angle with “Head Empty No Thoughts”
Except that copies are of the card as printed. Also, both of these men have been judges for years. If they agree on the the result, there is a very good chance they are correct.

It occurs to me that Karakas combos pretty well with Call of the Ring. Every turn you can make any creature you control legendary, then bounce it with Karakas and replay it to recur its ETB effect- could make for an interesting way to lockdown an opponent with Spellstutter Sprite.
Shouldn't the Saw in Half tokens Wheeler made in game one have been 3/3s? When the Ravenloft Adventurer died, it has 2 +1/+1 counters on it, making it a 5/6. It wouldn't have changed the eventual outcome of the game, but it would would have changed the combat math, because at 21:27, Wheeler would have been attacking for lethal.
Unsure if it mattered (since I don't know what was in his hand), but the fancy Nature's Lore that Nelson plays in the last game notably doesn't put the forest into play tapped, so he might've been able to play a 2 mana spell and then follow up with Uro on the next turn.
I love seeing some really different decks pup up here. We're usually just seeing a bunch of the same cards in these matches, but now there's actually a lot of different things going on.
I've been trying to brew mono-black ruin your evening ever since the mono-white ruin your evening episode. Haven't come to a exact 100 that i'm happy with, but it's been fun watching new cards come out and change how i want to build it.
I really like the placement of the Jace Funko Pop in the background with the boardgame behind it making it look like he has ENORMOUS EARS. :D Also, I was just thinking I wanted to watch some Magic, and here it is, one of my favorite Magic shows!
35:49 Wheeler and Nelson both forgetting about the actual 5th entry into the suite of 1 mana hand attack spells (Divest is the 4th), Dreams of Steel and Oil
I have a WB deck with a similar archetype of having any given individual creature being more of a hastle to deal with than it's worth. I can my deck "negative calories" to keep woth the old tradition of naming decks after food-related affairs. I hope this engagement has engagemented
Hey all, I've been struggling to see a reason for this channel not to be in the hundreds of thousands of subs, this channel, cast and crew are amazing. Please share with your MTG friends whenever you can. 🤗/hugehugs
Watching this made me realize that Kefnet, Sylvan Library and any Turn card (but especially time twister as its fun) is a infinite turn loop, which is really cool!
i'm failing to see what the loop is. i assume you want to loop extra turns. could you explain? also time twister does not give you another turn, did you mean time walk?
I meant the Temporal mastery my bad Wrong time card. Loop is for the infinite turns: I am not sure how Kefnet interacts with Miracle cost but assuming Time Walk is on top. Draw, reveal and copy with Kefnet, draw 2 more cards with Library, use Library to stack the time wallk back on top. Rinse and repeat
@@steamer86 ah got it. if you have time walk on top you use kefnet to copy it from sylvan draw and then float it second from the top to not draw it in draw step. this will work with scroll rack too with some extra steps i guess. very nice, i will have to try it. thanks for the explanation.
While playing old school I have definitely mulled to 5, played a Library, and sat there for 3 turns. It's not about winning, it's about making a statement. This is the way.
Game 2 is kinda emblematic for why I don't really like Eternal formats at the moment. Black is just so much better than every other color that it's getting exhausting.
"Scrats" is strong, but I swear there's something to the idea of a Shadowmoor version of RYE. Instead of noob-traps it's all seasoned cards and info effects, so something like "(thought)Seizing the Day" might work, but then you run into its acronym being "STD."
So I want you to know this Canadian Highlander video has inspired me to build a pauper commander deck called rat scam now as most of the scam cards besides the elementals are common 😂
Can anyone from the Newmarket Monthly tournament elaborate what store this is hosted at? Newmarket is only like an hour's drive for me, and I'm always down to play some more Magic.
I feel like the reason Nelson lost game 1 felt was because Wheeler went off with the Initiative, I don't think the discarding mattered that much. Nelson probably wouldn't have had that much time to even deploy a lot of those cards given the speed of the initiative and the damage Wheeler was threatening because of it, if he'd just played higher power creatures instead of the rats it might have ended up roughly the same. Game 2 he won because of the Orcish Bowmasters and I feel the rats were a lot less impactful than just completely dumpstering the Jace and preventing Nelson from leveraging any of his card draw without dying horribly. I think game 3 the discarding affected Nelson's plays a bit, but honestly I don't think it mattered as much because he just got very far ahead on cards in the end thanks to Uro so the discard was either not that impactful or negative because it helped Uro get out further. Still not sure if you would rather be playing other cards than a bunch of Ravenous Rats.

Saw in Half uses modified p/t, rounded up. Ravenloft was a 5/6, so the two tokens are 3/3s.

"Monoblack Eat Your Cheese" seems like a good name for a Rat version of Ruin-your-evening
Massively underrated comment
These deck names are pure art. What a match up.
28:15 2 mana, ping enemy for one, take out JTMS and leave 5 power on the board at instant speed.
cool card

Nelson is a delight every time he's on the show
I love the intromusic so much. What a banger.
Ben "I have a hand full of lands, but refuse to loot with my ring bearer" Wheeler

so excited for these decks + more Nelson!!
Love seeing more Nelson! Really love the dad energy he brings

Love to see somebody come and play The Rock at some point on this series.

Excellent, as always. Thank you.
I love me some North 100 showdown! Also Scrats gets my vote for the deck name.
"Ratting your evening" could be a good one
You mention Tolarian Academy, i just picked up a copy, largely due to you playing Paradox Academy on N100, so I'm trying to adapt it to 7pt!
I've been trying to brew mono-black ruin your evening ever since the mono-white ruin your evening episode. Haven't come to a exact 100 that i'm happy with, but it's been fun watching new cards come out and change how i want to build it.
I AM BEAMING AS WIDE AS MY MOUTH CAN GO! I SCREAMED 'RAT SCAM?!' AT THE TOP OF MY LUNGS WHEN I SAW THE THUMBNAIL!
This is the wildest North 100 showdown title I've seen sofar!
I really like the placement of the Jace Funko Pop in the background with the boardgame behind it making it look like he has ENORMOUS EARS. :D

It's basically puppet Jace, just need the sound affects for the real Arena experience.
if anyone's wondering, that board game is Wingspan.

With deck names i would also like to add "its a rat scam" to the tune of im a scat man
Deck name suggestion:
Mono-Black Ruin Your Pantry

I really like the name "death of a thousand 'master' splinters"
what would the best canlander pile look like assuming there is no points list? 🤔
Probably paradox academy but you have access to every mox and lotus and recall and time walk
Probably time vault with full power

How about "Big Cheese" instead of Rat Scam?
Soooo if they have a “Command Zone” at Magicfest how about forming a “Canadian Embassy” zone in the CZ?
I'm playing "rats" or sometimes referred to as "mono black good stuff" (game two, a synopsis)
While playing old school I have definitely mulled to 5, played a Library, and sat there for 3 turns. It's not about winning, it's about making a statement. This is the way.
Thanks I'm now going to have nightmares about legendary Bowmasters.
Karakas Bowmasters would be mind numbingly stupid.😊
Game 2 is kinda emblematic for why I don't really like Eternal formats at the moment. Black is just so much better than every other color that it's getting exhausting.
So Rats and Ruin your Evening. First thing that came to my mind is "On the Rat to Ruin".
When you are controlling another player while searching, you also get to see their hand and otherwise hidden zones :)
"Scrats" is strong, but I swear there's something to the idea of a Shadowmoor version of RYE. Instead of noob-traps it's all seasoned cards and info effects, so something like "(thought)Seizing the Day" might work, but then you run into its acronym being "STD."
Seize the day is already the name of a card, so there’s awkwardness there too
Is AEther Vial in the New Year’s Cube???
OKAY BUT consider the deck name *Scram*
Niiiiiice thumbnail!
I just saw the title and knew I had to watch this, there is no way these are real deck titles
I really wish N100S episodes came out weekly. I would take bi weekly even, but I’m a sicko.
Late to the party but "Ratatouille ruined my dinner" would be my vibe for deck name.
Rat-tening your evening
The fact that he didn't use Rat Pack for a name is a missed opportunity.

I love miracle as a concept but it can be kinda awkward to play
I'm surprised Ratten your evening was not suggested in the video

It's the last Saturday of each month at Enter the Battlefield.
*Gex voice* I haven't seen a bloodbath this big since the pool party at Olivia Voldaren's house!
I wanted to make a deck like rats so much...its surprisingly brutal.
In geometry, an octadecagon (or octakaidecagon) or 18-gon is an eighteen-sided polygon. - So maybe Octadecagon Rat King
Always love watching showdown but I noticed and missed some of the betweem-game chatter, at least between 2 and 3.
I still want to find someone to play this format with. I only live like 4 hours from Canada
Wonderful match

Thinking of a good nickname for 'Rat Scam', I discovered an important fact: Don't ever spoonerize it.
Formally submitting the name “Cellar Dweller Date Night” for the deck lol
I don't get the Rats. Wheeler's deck looks like a mono-black version of his vampire-deck to me.
Where's the one ring???

Ratatouille Your Evening for the deck name.

The amount of hand hate from Wheeler in this episode was brutal. Mono black can be seriously nasty.
