    • @NevarKanzaki
      @NevarKanzaki 10 месяцев назад +23

      Not saying that reanimator isn't good but they chose a matchup that would showcase what legacy can do but not be a blowout. For example, a delver deck isn't winning against 3 standard decks. It just isn't happening since it doesn't put out enough damage or 2 for 1 hard enough to outdo 3 standard decks. Reanimator can do big things but reanimator is susceptible to removal and doesn't win immediately. So when going up against 3 decks, reanimator 2 for 1s itself quite a bit to make its big plays go through. This works fine in 1v1 but a multiple opponent situation as we can see it isn't good at finishing the job. Whereas if it were a deck that uses any combo that wins against multiple opponents or really any strategy that affects all opponents at once, it'd be quite lopsided in the favor of the legacy deck.
      Elves would be pretty interesting as they can be reasonably interacted with but might be able to hit the ground running before enough removal hits them. After all, if reanimator goes off, they don't win. They have to outnumber the collective removal. Elves aren't 2 for 1ing themselves with trying to speed out getting rid of opponent interaction. Instead, they're just trying to go off and when they do it is often in a way that packs more punch and is harder to deal with than a single griselbrand. Not totally lopsided like breakfast and uses the board but showcases how just a few cards can completely change how a deck can run.

    Random limited optimisation tip that comes to mind at 12:29 , but when using a combination of a burn spell + combat damage, you want to let combat damage happen first, then use the burn spell 2nd so you don't get blown out by removal. (In this case, snuff out is a real possibility).
    With eiganjo and similar effects, you want to do it during the end of combat step.

    At 9:27, when Carl cast Animate Dead on his Archon of Cruelty targeting Phil, Phil did not sacrifice his Topiary Stomper. This became relevant later when Phil cast Sunfall getting a 6/6 Incubate token, counting his Topiary as one of the exiled creatures.
    Were it not for this play, Carl would have one extra turn as the flipped Incubate token would only be a 5/5. It still might not change the overall results, but the misplay made the game end at least a turn earlier.

He could have drawn 14 the turn griselbrand came in and exhumed either a ghalta to get grief + archon, or double archon, which would have hit into another creature, or Atraxa + archon, or archon + sire of insanity, or Ionia on white + archon, or literally anything besides "pass, play grave titan, pass". Even pass, sire, pass (seriously, why was grave titan there? It hasnt been played in that deck for years) is probably enough.
      All he needed to do was not let them activate multiple kill effects on turn 3.
      It would have made for a shit video though. Turn 1 griselbrand, archon, sire of insanity / Ionia on white vs 3 decks that can't topdeck any relevant removal until turn 6 at that point just isn't fun.

    I feel like the reanimator deck can win here if it focuses the control player rather than the aggro player. Also, a combo deck like Cephalid Breakfast (was thinking maybe Doomsday, but losing half your life vs. this much pressure is rough) would probably have been a better choice - you need 60 damage/life loss to win, but only one "win the game" or infinite combo.

    Nice choice on reanimator as the legcy deck. Did you test out some other things for what has the best back and forth play?
    While the combo decks likely win it doesnt seem like fun, what do people think would be the other cool decks to see? Sneak and show could be interesting but it might just be playong around leyline binding.

    Since you've been playing 3 vs. 1, you should try something like the Archenemy format which has Scheme cards. It would be fun to see Scheme cards do some chaos on the battlefield. :D

    This was a nice choice of decks including Reanimator. I would love to see how Legacy Delver or Initiative or Beanstalk would do against Standard decks. As for combo, probably a much shorter video. Standard decks just wouldn't be able to deal with Legacy Combo decks; Sneak and Show, Cephalid Breakfast, Epic Storm, Doomsday, Oops! All Spells etc. can all win very early and very explosively. There just would not be much a standard deck could do against Force of Will, Daze, free mana acceleration etc.

    I love to see the old school reanimator deck.
    I had the extended version of 2001 (basically the same deck) and I got to play in a local LGS christmas tournament. Unlimited players, buy in was a 20.00 gift. There was something like 40+ people there. I took it all, beat every single match, something ridiculous like 11 - 0. Of course back then, the power houses were Verdant Force/Akroma/Multani Maro Sorcerer
    and I know it played around with zombie infestation/krovikan horror/squee. Great deck. Still have it built and it will never come apart. Ever. ever.ever.
    However, my deck runs the Jin-Gitaxias, Core Augur,if this had that, you should have dropped it and ruined their game plan.
