Love seeing this format in such a clean presentation. I think it works perfectly having serge and wheeler as hosts because they both have really clean play and explain moves and strategy and any mistakes they might have made.
I love Canadian Highlander content! I would like to see other guests on as well, such as Alex, Nelson, Allison (the famous Rock player), Blake Rasmussen , or Robin Sorensen
Allison would be cool. The Rock is my favorite deck right now in Gladiator.
I would love to see Marshall when an opportunity presents itself, as he admitted to maintaining a Sultai midrange deck once upon a time

At 32:00 the Ledger Shredder shouldn't trigger, as the first spell cast was the Mox Sapphire; the Selfless Spirit is then the third.

This is correct, but Serge could have cast Shredder and then Mox, which would have allowed the connive trigger. Since Wheeler didn't interact with any of the spells cast this turn, I believe the only difference is the order of the fetch and draw.

10:42 really respect this type of play. I get this isn't like a tourney or anything, but I have huge respect for players who refuse to profit off misplays and rewind all the way back like this where Wheeler even got to return the Snapcaster to hand
I like a lot of LRR's content, but this is by far my favourite, always so happy when a new episode is released
the "i have a Wheeler..." in the beginning with a cadence implying more people got me chuckling.
Its becoming harder and harder for me to tell if Serge asking Ben about "fish ponder vs moon ponder" is a running joke or he genuinely forgets each time because of the tattoo

These showdowns are fantastic! I've loved all the previous Friday Night Paper fights and Highlander tourneys, so seeing full match ups is a dream for someone outside the sphere

Just real quick note serge, when searching with urzas saga in that first game you had pulled aside the esper sentinel. However, esper sentinel can’t be found with urzas saga, the cost is one w not one colorless

@@nickking6525 whoops sorry- I’ve been out of the Magic space for a bit, and the whole “converted mana cost” vs “mana value” vs “mana cost” thing tripped me up a little bit. Sorry!
Except it's not MV 1 or 0. It is specifically 1 colorless or 0 colorless mana. Therefore no Esper Sentinel.

The ledger shredder was already his second spell. Serge don’t mis-sequence your mox.
Ye it doesnt connive right? Cause the bird has to be on the field when the second spell hits so it doesnt trigger on himself and the spell after it was already the third so it should not count either
@@Robster7 yes you are correct. Let's be real though, if they had caought the mistake they would have just let serge take back the mox cast and everything would have worked fine. Catching it would have been a good teaching moment though.
@@Robster7 TBF he could've cast bird, played mox, connive, then cast the spirit... the main difference is if Wheeler had interaction but he only had R up

With Fliers incoming, my gut had the thinking of Chandra+Island vs Misty Rainforest+Young P.+Mana Leak. It's certainly a tough pile

FoF split at 16:45 I probably would have gone Chandra + Basic vs Leak, Fetch, YP; but I do see the value in not allowing Wheeler to keep up Leak through the tax.

Dominaria United has finished spoiling and it seems you guys didn't get a preview card. I really love those sketches you put on for preview cards, so not seeing one from you was really disappointing. Then again, you have all been really busy recently so it makes sense.
I was thinking about what I'd do for that fact or fiction as it was happening, and I came to almost the same conclusion, just move that misty rainforest to the other pile. I like Serge's split too, since Wheeler's already pretty good on lands, making him take more less-relevant cards with his walker has value.
The split was good. I think I would have put a land from the Chandra pile into young pyro and mana leak.

Don't wanna make a big argument, but I would like to see an analisys of the plays and the mistakes that the players do during the game. I think could be an important content to let players and viewers improve even more! Obviously this only makes sense if this is already a goal that you have set for yourself by making this type of video, if u have enough time, etc etc.

I just love the tension of the blue v blue matches. So much thinking. I just imagine they are both doing so many calculations in their heads for every play.

Because I couldn’t really see the other two cars (mana leak and young pecsy) I was leaning toward splitting the same was as serge but I don’t really know the true power level of the cards so I think I’m in agreement with serge based on what I know
Saw you eyeballing Esper Sentinel for the Urza's Saga trigger, but that's not a legal target, Urza's Saga refers to Mana Cost, not Mana Value.
So, how many points is Ragavan these days?
At 17:00 i like pyromancer fetch versus chandra mana leak island. Pretty much for the reasons wheeler said. He's at 6, so it's kind of hard for ben* to survive. #engagement

Serge is threatening lethal in 2 turns, so Wheeler probably takes whatever pile affects the board that turn.
Posted comment before the splits were chosen and they talked about it. Didn’t think abt fetch land, maybe Leak + Chandra + Basic, and Pyro + Fetch?
In a vacuum I would split the FoF Chandra+Leak vs Peezy + Lands to prevent giving Peezy food, but with Wheeler at 6 the current split might be better.
How is a 2 mana aura busted just because it has lifelink, since otherwise it would be a worse Curiosity?
The game one FOF I think I would have split Mana Leak, Young Pyro, Misty in one pile and Chandra, Island in the other pile. Chandra is the best card by far, and if I’m Serge I’m terrified of the play pattern: Chandra, kill Deputy, fetch Mystic Sanctuary and put a kill spell back on top of my library. Putting the misty away from the chandra ensures only one known removal spell. I’m also pausing this video right as the FOF resolves so idk how the rest of the game plays out
Just realized I forgot there was a selfless spirit in play. I have no clue how I’d split it now lmao
The Wheeler "Hmmmm?" gets me every time
for the Fact or Fiction split I think I’d go Pyro/2 lands and then Chandra/Mana Leak
was so focused on the "pseudo" ramp of t1 Ragavan, t2 attack get 3 mana and maybe cast from opp exile that i somehow didn't realize it also has 2 power O.o

From what I know of them, they're real.
towards the very end of the match: obstructionist countering the aspirant trigger will trigger baral to dig one card deeper into the deck to find an out
so the deck i entered the format with was mono white and as time went on the pointed cards in my deck kept on losing points which i find very funny (enlightened tutor, stoneforge mystic and jitte is on the watch list)
I would have done that Fact or Fiction split exactly the same, but switching Young P and the planeswalker
