Official Request: It would be really cool to hear your IEM feed for the soundcheck portion of your day. Maybe you could wire up to the mic of your camera and let us hear MONs and FOH talking to you? lol
Tune-Bot! The “high frequency” setting will read higher tunings better. 👍🏻 Also pay attention to how you mount the tune-bot, it does make a difference. And you don’t actually have to move it around, just keep the thing in one place between any two lugs and tap next to the lug you are trying to get the reading from. That should do it. ✌🏻 Keep on keeping on man 👊🏻
Looking forward to watching this later this evening. Because after the tour being postponed in the UK I won't be seeing them in Glasgow. Absolutely gutted. But that won't stop me enjoying your videos as always dude. It's appreciated 💪
For your tunebot reading issue- hit filter on the tunebot when you get a reading in the general range you’re expecting/know it is. After that It’ll ignore all the confusing overtones it’s randomly deciding to read otherwise.
Been a subscriber for a while, yet never knew any of the songs for this band. Then, the other day whilst whilst listening to Kerrang Radio, I heard Zombified and was like 'ayy, that's the Matt Horn crew jam!'. Felt good. :)
Hey Matt i can recommend the original gen 1 tunebot or the studio tunebot because you can filter the higher notes once you find one. It seems that tighter heads give more overtones and the bot just picks the most dominant one. On metalsnares it‘s going crazy. But when i put my toms on the drum-stool so they‘re pretty dead-muffled and i filter the frequencies that i actually wanna tune - everything works just fine! :)
If you went to Volkspark Friedrichshain near the velodrom, the c.limbing wall is most likely a part of the former WW2 Flak tower, which was partialy buried by rubble after the war. This huge bunker, with its 12 foot thick concrete walls, was to massive to be demolished.
Rockin' Judith!!..I find when I need to loosen a lug I have had better results when I make an extra half turn down and then tighten it back up that half turn so that the finishing position on the lug ends on a firmer position. When you take pressure of any type of bolt it creates a slight amount of "play" between each thread.
Keep doing what you’re doing, man you’re an awesome drum tech and everything that you do sounds wonderful, great inspiration for a lot of people! ❤ much love! Say hi 👋 to Luke For me!
Hey Matt, I was so bummed! I was at the show on Monday in Cologne and came 80% just to see you and Luke. But since Luke sits so far back on the stage and with the lighting rig right above his drum set, I could only see his left crash-and nothing else from where I was sitting! 😅 So yeah, I ended up watching that crash wobble like a madman the whole time-you can imagine! 😂 That said, the show was awesome! Looking forward to the next one-hopefully I’ll get to see you then! Thanks for all the videos, I love them! Hope you filmed one in Cologne too 🙈
Yes set it to high frequency mode and also I have learned that some time your not striking hard enough and it it still doesn't read it then I will use my hand and mute the head right after I hit by the lug and that does help cause I'm running 398 hz on my bottom head of my snare
Another vote for upgrading to tunebot studio. It has 2 key features: “filter” and “hi range” mode that will help with the inconsistent readings you’re seeing. Hi range is needed for readings above 400 Hz (resonant snare head)
Hey Matt at 14:40 try placing the snare on a flat surface with like a towel under it with your finger in the middle of the drum putting alittle pressure as your tapping the sides. I bet you’ll get your 350hz
Hey, Tune Bot studio is a lot better at reading frequencies and you can select it to only read high frequencies. Also I think you are positioning tunebot wrong, at least looking at their videos, they position it more horizontally, they attach it to the whole hoop, not only the top of the hoop. Also, I think hitting it with the regular stick helps with the readings.
Great to see you do your magic in my homeland 😊 Was curious what the catering would actually serve you. Kind of a 'default catering' I would say, not a revelation. Should you ever come to Hamburg please let me know. Really like what you are doing and how you present it to your community.
Hi Matt. Can you record a crew jam from Front of the House? It’s a totally different perspective that I think matters. Same with slap back tuning etc. every venue is different so it’s amazing what goes into setup.
Start to finish, congrats on 70k. Try moving the TuneBot away from the drum a bit. Works for me with DrumTune Pro. Maybe clip it onto the edge of the pelican case.
i barely play drums but i've watched so many of these i feel like if you put me behind luke's kit during crew jam i could probably play zombified like 90% correctly lmao
I was wondering who you are with but as soon as I saw the tom and the snare you took out of that case, I knew it is Luke Holland :D And I felt the tunebot struggle on the snare, lol
Apart from just having a bit of a malfunction or a "moment" it could be the temperature change from bein in the cases during transport to then coming out. Given it's winter in Berlin and minus temperatures it would have the same affect as playing in Florida or Brazil where the heat and humidity affect things.
Could you give an overview of what frequencies the entire drum kit is tuned to, both the batter and the resonant heads? All parts separately, please. Many thanks and keep up the good work man!
On one hand, it's kind of a bummer that you've only been to Europe during winter months, but on the other, that's when you can really get a feeling for a city/country/region - when there aren't a billion tourists all over the damn place. I know being a tourist is probably pretty far down your list of priorities, but it's still pretty dope to look out the window and go, "Oh shit, this is where so-and-so called such-and-such a bunch dingleberries, which led to the battle of Dingleberry Valley in bler-de-bler, Austria, during the summer of 1489," or whatever nerdy shit you're into. Europe's cool as hell, especially for history dorks like myself. As long as you're cool with dingleberries.
I have the tune bot gig as well and I have the same problem with higher pitched drums. It’s because the gig version has a narrower tuning window than the studio version
Why not give us some Matt Horn drum beats during the clips where you can’t play the audio? Rumor has it, you are a decent drummer 😅give the fans what we want! Your video editing is becoming next level, bro.
you should try to put the tune bot like a mic clamp, holding it all under the ring (i dont know the exact word, in argentina we say "aro" hehe good video!!!
Hey Matt, not sure if you've done that in the past videos (haven't seen it at least), but could you give a rundown of the mics used on the drumkit? I'm suspecting that's an M201 on snare top, but I'd love to know which other ones are used!
I think the tuning issue is the overtones /harmonics, like on every 440 a theres also an 880hz overtone etc etc on and on, and down too so a 220, 110, 55, etc so it could be picking up those
@20:30 🙋🏼♂ Lol! Also, rather than the birds (or birbs) and/or random background noise so you don't get copyright strikes, you should use some audio of you just playing drums. After all, you're a sick drummer and I'd be willing to bet the majority of your subs are drummers as well! Anyone else? #StarttoFinishCrew
Damnit, been saving up for a Reference Brass and was tryna buy a new one with the STL-style lugs because the old BRL-style lugs used to crack lol. Sucks to see them pull the threads off the lugs. Specially when it's a $1600 snare... Maybe better to try and find a old one to get matching lugs to my kit Still great video as always.
Bass drum sounded great! Yea, I gave up on drum tuners and went back to just straight by ear, think it is much better. Have you ever felt like crap when having to do a show or gotten some bad food that keeps your stomach guessing? Good vid man

Dude wish your guys were still coming to uk got tickets to hopefully will get sorted and we see you soon 🤘🤘
Congrats on 70k my boi 🤝
Is there anything better than having your morning schedule cleared and then refreshing youtube to find a new Matt Horn video? I don't think so
really good breakfast or dinner videos
21:26 nothing beats the birds chirping though. Iconic
Official Request: It would be really cool to hear your IEM feed for the soundcheck portion of your day. Maybe you could wire up to the mic of your camera and let us hear MONs and FOH talking to you? lol
Yes. This ☝️
So much this
Im never going to hear zombified again without hearing HEY ONE TWO
Dude I find this videos so relaxing, it's great. Love seeing what goes on behind the scenes too
Tune-Bot! The “high frequency” setting will read higher tunings better. 👍🏻 Also pay attention to how you mount the tune-bot, it does make a difference. Keep on keeping on man 👊🏻
I don't believe the tune bot Gig (what Matt uses) has a "high frequency " setting.
@@miketaylordrummer i can confirm, the gig version doesn't have that setting
Chris's missed shot at 35:24 is absolutely hilarious. Great add to the vid for comedic relief. 😂
As a new photographer in the industry I love watching these. Keep them coming Matt. Cheers from Pittsburgh!
Grats on 70K Bro. Another awesome show thanks in a big part to the backbone of any touring band THE TECHS.
Matt S2FC here. Another great video.
That venue looked sick.
Thanks for taking us along.
This venue is probably the coolest one I've seen y'all in. Looks sick!
Looking forward to watching this later this evening. Because after the tour being postponed in the UK I won't be seeing them in Glasgow. Absolutely gutted. But that won't stop me enjoying your videos as always dude. It's appreciated 💪
I have been watching Luke's old interviews, dude is just himself. It's so refreshing to just see a regular dude have success like his.
As always, I watched from beginning to end and it was a awesome video man.
Unreal how good you are at what you do i have a whole new outlook on concerts now. Keep up the amazing working brodie..
Great video as always and congrats for the 70k STF Crew !!
love your videos, keep posting hugs from your fan from Brazil 🇧🇷🌴
A little disappointed we didn’t get a “don’t die on me!” At 13:30!
Woahh loved the look behind the scenes! The Velodrom is one of my favourite concert venues ever!!
For your tunebot reading issue- hit filter on the tunebot when you get a reading in the general range you’re expecting/know it is. After that It’ll ignore all the confusing overtones it’s randomly deciding to read otherwise.
Wow! The roof in that venue is so sick with all the lights on.
Hey it's Ash!!!! loved his playing in Holding Absence!
I love watching these videos my friend, thank you so much for sharing!!!
Been a subscriber for a while, yet never knew any of the songs for this band. Then, the other day whilst whilst listening to Kerrang Radio, I heard Zombified and was like 'ayy, that's the Matt Horn crew jam!'. Felt good. :)
These always come out on my lunch break & I love it. Fuck yeah, STF crew 🤘
Waddup dude!!! I was the one wavin like a freakin idiot at you after the show! So cool to see you from the other side!

Amazing. There is also a rock climbing wall on the flak tower in Humboldthain. Near Gesundbrunnen.
Another top tier vlog - stoaked to see Ashley pop up!
Another epic show. Great job Matt! Thanks for the vids! Merry Christmas in case we don't see you until after...

another from scratch building drum videos! still lovin your videos man. keeps me alive! honestlyyy.
S2FC checking in. That crowd was rocking and Luke killed it!
Keep doing what you’re doing, man you’re an awesome drum tech and everything that you do sounds wonderful, great inspiration for a lot of people! ❤ much love! Say hi 👋 to Luke For me!

I like the studio tune-bot more because it has a filter feature to keep it from jumping up or down
The hill in the park you went up at the beginning.....it is one of the many rubble-hills. Debris from WW2. The highest one is 115m high.
Felicitaciones desde Argentina!!!! Saludos!!!
Man, youre the goat.

That’s some good advice right there. Would you recommend I get a tune bot for my 13in pork pie percussion little squealer I tune it high.
Yes i use tune bot studio and for 100 bucks it well work it in my opinion it makes tuning up and head changes quick and easy
Another vote for upgrading to tunebot studio. It has 2 key features: “filter” and “hi range” mode that will help with the inconsistent readings you’re seeing. Hi range is needed for readings above 400 Hz (resonant snare head)

Cool videos Matt. Keep ‘em coming 🥁👊🏻
Just watching you line check in front of that many people freaks me out. I can’t imagine performing in front of that many people!
should have been seeing the guys tonight in Manchester, was even hoping ton catch of you there it really sucks
Hi Matt. Can you record a crew jam from Front of the House? It’s a totally different perspective that I think matters. Same with slap back tuning etc. every venue is different so it’s amazing what goes into setup.
What are those cymbal nut locks? I want them!
Feelin' spicy on that crew jam!
Greetings from Germany! I Hope i can catch one of these Concerts someday :)
S2F crew. Good content as usual. Found out online about the UK tour being cancelled, F's to your extra pay checks :(
Thanks you ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Nice! Judith on the sound check.
I checked out for too long and now there's a second floor tom. This is wild.
Nice i Your Drum Tech POV Video Matt!!
He said, “straight up spaceship vibes…” 😅 😎
@ 14:42 what benefits are there using a mallet as opposed to tuning with just a drum stick?
Start to finish, congrats on 70k. Try moving the TuneBot away from the drum a bit. Works for me with DrumTune Pro. Maybe clip it onto the edge of the pelican case.
I use Aquarian cymbal springs the best cymbal mount I’ve ever used, haven’t cracked a cymbal in a very long time
The Interstellar references NICE
the tunebot was picking up the PA, it only messed up when the subs were going
STF CREW 🔥🔥🔥
i barely play drums but i've watched so many of these i feel like if you put me behind luke's kit during crew jam i could probably play zombified like 90% correctly lmao
5:44 jaywalkers lol 🤣

Another great POV to watch S2F. Was super excited to see you guys in Glasgow in 5 days. The UK border control had to go ruin it 😢
How do you know when to defer between using one floor Tom for the show or 2 floor Toms?
Could you give an overview of what frequencies the entire drum kit is tuned to, both the batter and the resonant heads? All parts separately, please. Many thanks and keep up the good work man!

Nice! :D I hope you have some recordings from Poland? :)
Cheers! No Willard this time! STF CREW!
Dude you should try the ol putting cotton balls in the toms trick! I think you’ll be very pleased even with the infamous 12”
I always watch your video ♥
A train who bring you beer was in the past at the Holiday Inn in Utrecht NL?
November is not the best time to visit Berlin. Come back in summer.
I have the tune bot gig as well and I have the same problem with higher pitched drums. It’s because the gig version has a narrower tuning window than the studio version

Yeah it has like its own lil cushion mold that sits on the side of the ring like a drum mic, that should help!
Hey Matt, not sure if you've done that in the past videos (haven't seen it at least), but could you give a rundown of the mics used on the drumkit? I'm suspecting that's an M201 on snare top, but I'd love to know which other ones are used!
all the way crew
The people that have been here for a while know to turn on cc before he even reminds us.
I think the tuning issue is the overtones /harmonics, like on every 440 a theres also an 880hz overtone etc etc on and on, and down too so a 220, 110, 55, etc so it could be picking up those
Do you have video from show in Prague? I'm hoping to see it
Obviously as a german myself I am obligated to watch this video
Obviously!
Dear sweet baby Jesus, please bless Matt with 100k subs and an under the table special from a goth baddie at ihop for Christmas 🙏🏼
The tuner dosent work cause of the pink noise on the PA!
"No Murph, don't do it Murph!" STAY!
SO with the UK shows canceled what is the bands and crews plans now? i assume its not just a free vacation now.
@20:30 🙋🏼♂ Lol!

Please do one POV when you get to Melbourne :)
The Tunebot is probably confused by the PA blasting pink noise.
15:50 I think that’s a common problem with the tune bot gig. afaik the tune bot studio doesn’t have that problem, or at least to a much lesser degree
