What do you think about the "one NEW Major Feature"???

    • @razafiarisonmichael4421
      @razafiarisonmichael4421 2 года назад +3

It's a crazy feature! Instead of putting dual diode in every pixel they found a way to compensate it in software. And it's good for future AF updates because it unlocks any AI AF possibilities with just firmware updates instead of waiting a new camera with faster processor. A processor working aside of the main processor instead of making it busy and overheat with the time is a good thing.
Thank you for the great preview !

    • @ricardomonteiro5555
      @ricardomonteiro5555 2 года назад +1

The new features are great. but i have a question, why don't they make cameras with the AI image processing technology used in smart phones? like the crazy stuff that an iPhone or the google pixel can do? wouldn't this take things to a new different level?

    • @im.js.17

I like the new features, but the screen takes the cake. I'm one of the few that don't like flip out screens, and this screen for me is the best "hybrid" option available. I am hoping that future alpha cameras get the same usability this screen offers with its ability to articulate like it does.

@@froknowsphoto definitely an awesome camera for photos and a huge improvement for video but I'd really like to see a hybrid camera with a stacked ~30MP sensor AND uncropped full sensor readout oversampled video. 6K60p uncropped oversampled and 4K60(/120p) should be within the realm of possibilities when the Canon R3 is also able to do it even if the body is larger!

I mean, the a7IV has only 33MP sensor and it only shoots 6.33 FPS uncompressed/lossless compressed RAW, even with the fastest CFe card on the market. Only shooting in fully compressed RAW gets you those marketed 10 FPS... I'm guessing the A7RV is the same.

@@Battlem0nk Not many, really. Across all photography fields, over 90% of photography is shot in singles, especially the higher up the pyramid you go, towards the big names in photography.... It is only in very, very, very specific cases, where photographers shoot in continuous mode - and even when they do shoot in continuous, it's usually just to get additional shots.
The only fields where photographers consistently might want to or in some cases need to shoot in continuous modes, are ''blue collar photographers,'' shooting sports, wildlife, weddings and similar... But these people make up for less than 5% of the entire photography industry.
The whole ''THIS CAMERA CAN SHOOT THIS MANY FPS AND THAT CAMERA CAN SHOOT THAT MANY FPS!!'' is a marketing scheme for the average consumer (and for blue collar photographers), over 90% of photographers neither need nor ever shoot in anything other than single shot mode, again, especially the further up you start looking into the photography pyramid.

It makes complete sense at 9:41 ish that you missed focus. You hit focus on 10 and then moved to hit the shooter but your focus frame had the player you focused on in white in the same spot that 10 had just been when you previously focused so the camera was trying to be smart and keep him in focus.

For me this a7Rv makes perfect sense. I'm 90% stills but shooting some video. My a7iv is excellent but this is looking better again with an option to crop to APS-C/26Mp occasionally when wanted. I'm buying one and selling my near 3yr old a7iv for sure.
For video this may not be the absolute best, but I also have/use a FX3. Ditto for speed/sports. I used to own an a9 but sold that at time of buying my a7iv.
I originally planned to buy an a1 in 2022, but the a7iv, added new stuff (eg focus breathing), so I bought that at less than half the cost of an a1.
Now, a1 bodies can be bought at a discount to the original £6.5k, I feel that an a1 makes little sense, given a likely mkii improved version in 2025? Specialist tools geared to specific use cases seems to be to be better IMO than a single 'do-it-all' a1 that is nearly as good as the dedicated body for that niche ..... ie..... a9iii, FX3 and a7Rv.
Last month I bought an a9iii and love it. Super fast, great in almost every respect bar perhaps absolute resolution. Unbeatable for sports stills, no rolling shutter for fast pans snd great stability in video. So, now that there are serious discounts to be had on an a7Rv, it makes the perfect body to add to my FX3 and a9iii cams. Also for video, interview shots etc, with 3 bodies I can shoot decent multi-cam video (all timecode synced via Deity TC-1 boxes with sound optimised via 'serious' mikes to a separate Sound Devices MixPre recorder).
Things always get better, so in years to come I will probably be trading in a body from time to time to keep abreast of technology. But only when I feel I'm really missing out and not just for the sake of it.
I learnt it usually costs more to be an early adopter. That old kit which still meets your current needs is worth hanging onto. That no matter how smart the camera or lens etc they are only 'tools'.It''s still up to you as the 'creator' to leverage any system to make great work. Knowing that it's you the 'artist' that makes the real difference, and not the latest 'wiz-bang' tech, can help save funds and sanity.

    Great video 👍
Pulsating autofocus problems indoors are from flickering lights - typically LED and fluorescent lighting.
Similarly, at night outdoors LED lights on structures and vehicles will jam the autofocus mechanism.
Also, at your sporting shoot, there was a long LED video display in the background with flickering lights so, that may have helped to confuse autofocusing onto the wrong person -- just a thought 🤔

...If I hadn't gotten into Bird and Wildlife a year ago (sorry Jared! :P ) and bought an A1, this would be my dream camera... BIG FEATURE NOT MENTIONED: For videographers out there, Focus Breathing Compensation(!!) is now offered, along with Focus Mapping, though Sony mentions that lens software updates will be necessary... The new fast access menu is a Godsend to many of us Photographers who also do video... The video looked great, and can't wait to try it Thurs and Friday in New York at Sony Creative Space!

As A7R IV owner and stills shooter I’m disappointed ..
Sony focused on improving feature thats not the first priority for stills shooters and that’s what the R series for!
As you mentioned camera can lock on in everything I don’t need these silly train and cars options as much as I need better ISO performance in low light ..
I didn’t want to see too much effort in enhancing videos which I’m not going to use more often over enhancing sensor for stills and action in second place, again this is R not S .. it’s for landscapes, wild life, Astro, which all Depends In sensor performance for stills.
They could have improved image quality a lot better by using stacked sensor that will give me much better ISO and at least 15FPS as an actual upgrade to the sensor performance since resolution is not changed !
Unless Sony is intentionally planing to shove up video capabilities over stills in every camera since there’s a growing demand for video as one of their officials says .. I don’t understand this upgrade,
and it’s just a camera with better AF for me.

Are the new AI processor balance stacked sensor ans speed of AF of A1? Here in this video players moving fast but they are far and goes from left to right mostly, so camera don´t have to change focus distance so much. That pulsating focus happened to me with a 24 1.4 GM and the A7r III and I had to return the lens, Sony told me the it was because of an option on the menu that was new by the time that lens came out. Probably not good communication between a new lens and an old camera

i think we're starting to approach another plateau here, as this camera doesnt feel that much better than its predecessor. The same way latest dslrs didnt differ much from one another as they were comming up, sony's mirrorless cameras seem to be doing the same... until they start bringing stacked sensors all around or computational features that one can actually relly on. What do you think? Or maybe they got the technology and they're just waiting for the competition to catch up so they can keep bringing money in for longer time before making big steps again. Idk... if i were a 7riii/iv shooter wanting to upgrade, i'd probably jump straight to the a1 because this wouldnt be worth the cost. The tilt screen is very neat though

I see a bit the same pattern as you.
But moreover it is accentuated by bs from Sony.
This camera is easily able to shoot 12fps uncompressed raw and that's bugging me. It's just that Sony doesn't want the R line to compete with the A9 line. That's bs from the manufacturer.
I could be interested to get this 61mpx sensor coming from 42mpx sensor, but I can't accept to go from 12fps to go down half of this. Do I look like a stupid or what... Since the Riv the burst mode is more and more crippled.
      Burst modes:
      A7Rm2 < A7Rm3 > A7Riv > ARv
So since the R3 something wrong happened as the hierarchy isn't following the right order.

That AF looks amazing tbh. To be clear though, this isn't the camera for action/sports photography, the A1 is there for that. This is for high-res stills, landscapes, wildlife but less BIF photography. It doesn't have the FPS to be a prime body for professional use but seems to be competent across a wide range of applications. A solid upgrade for those still using A7R III!

      That's what I call a nice regression.
If you're into action photo with your A7R2, it won't be the fps that will change your world. More the buffer, probably the keepers, but I'm not even sure of this as it depends of the lenses used.

Dang, this camera sounds really good, and I'm in the market for a new one. My only gripe would be 4K 120, but I've seen the 1080p 120 on this, and it looks impressive, not sure then that I would need the 4K 120. Should I wait a little longer for newer cameras or is this the latest from Sony's flagship lineup? I'm in no real rush, but it would be nice to have a new camera by May 2023.

The buffer is gigantic and the cards supports the speed piece of cake.
It's just bs crippling from Sony. Like if A9 or A1 consumers are the same as the R line. That's just stupid thinking from Sony.
