Worked super hard on this. Wanted to add a storytelling flair on top of the usual infotainment style we normally do. We had a lot of the fun making this so we hope you guys will enjoy watching it as well! 😁 And a gentle reminder, I am not doing any giveaways. Any message you receive on RUclips about prizes are scam bots.
Half way through and enjoying it so far.
@@danielbarakat thank you sir!
Really good video! The infomercial-like sections with the video settings and the 4 axis multi angle LCD screen had me laughing
This was great! You did a better job at selling it than Sony! You had me at “bug autofocus.”
this video is NEXT LEVEL!!! amazing. LOVED IT (and the info!).
The narrative of this video is very good Jason! Really appreciated the hard work!

@JasonVong which is better a7 r5 or alpha 9 2?
It's funny how when the R comes out it's always the first of each family line and it has the newest innovations of any Alpha at the time, but then when the non-R comes out the non-R is significantly more updated and has newer features and the R seems a bit behind in certain ways until the next generation again.
it's like each model want to outdo each other every time
thats what kills the R for me, I want the R line as I do photography but I know deep down that the A7v will be improved and cheaper than the rV and the extra resolution of the R is a nice to have but not needed imo
nailed it
@@imreallydamntired but a75 may be in 2025 this time, so
@@marumaruko6512 damn really? i wouldve thought it was due 2023 if you follow the same timeline
You covered everything - comprehensive coverage of photo and video centric features, to testing of heating and sharing of afterthought to who can best benefit from this upgrade. And most importantly, it looks like you are having fun; especially happy to see that as a longer term subscriber of your channel.
Thank you Jason!
The best real world review on the A7r5 I’ve seen to date. As an events photographer I was keen to see how the camera performed in low light compared to the A7r4 (which was disappointing to be honest) and you’ve been able to answer that question where other RUclipsrs could not. Most of them read off a spec sheet but yours was genuine real world in a busy location. Nailed it. Love your energy, humour and style Jason. I’m now a subscriber. Look forward to more of your videos.
Jason, another highly entertaining and informative review done brilliantly. If one were searching RUclips and a list of review videos came up, yours would be the first one I’d always pick. Great filming and editing. Thanks.
Vong!! Next level video, so great! You must never stop! I'm sure other guests saw you shooting that grasshopper and really wondered what was going on. Thanks for the quick summary, really helpful, and in great style too.
They were really confused why I was so excited 😂
Loved the way you shot this review. Super fun while still being really informative
Informative and entertaining as usual. You are by far one of the better photography reviewers in the youtube universe
Looks good. I haven't outgrown my A7Riv. Yet. I really like the upgrades here, especially the rear panel and lossless compressed RAWs most. Gotta love watching you taking advantage of these SoCal spots, Disneyland, Pasadena, San Marino for locations.
What a BEAST of a camera! As a stills shooter only, this is really a perfect camera! Combined with the GM lenses, which are super expensive, the results are insane! The boost in IBIS, the autofocus system, this PERFECT screen..
The only problem I have is my VERY poor budget....
@@user-fz9go8pj4t same here. Go for lenses first. Then you may have more choices on bodies later for your budget
@@razafiarisonmichael4421 I have the "prehistoric" sony a6000 from 2014 with a decent set of crop lenses - sony 50 1.8, sony zeiss 16-70 f4 (it's a huge disappointment) and finally the cheap trash telephoto sony 55-210. I desperately need upgrade to my lenses, but this is also a problem in two directions: the first and a biggest problem is budget, and the second problem is that my hand is super shaky, so a monopod/tripod is a must, but this solution is not super convenient and comfortable, so I am forced to rely on image stabilization of the lense. However, nowadays almost all the digital photography manufacturers produce modern technology of IBIS in their camera bodies and the tendency of avoiding image stabilization in the lenses is spread out very quickly. This makes my situation more worse than ever....
I mean if you need full frame cameras later, but FF lenses directly since it's the same mount. then buy the full frame body
You can learn about focus as well. you dont necessarily need bird eye AF and fish AF to focus them with the newest camera AI. Because there is an option for that on older cameras, but you have to click your target.
Been following you for so long but I LOVE this format of video!
Got something for you..
Wow, really great review. I love the full-size background to see the zoom in while you show the full picture. I have the A7IV but am lusting for this hard.
Love all your videos, keep up the good work
Always love your videos. It makes all reviews more fun and and entertaining to watch.
Great video Jason! It was so damn entertaining hahaha!
Such a fun vid, great job Jason!
This is pretty much all the upgrades I've been wanting for my a7rii... 😍
Awesome video Jason!
I'm really looking at your phone too. I love how well it does as a monitor and with the screen recording.
Fantastic review! Love the humor 😄 and detailed coverage of the camera features.
This honestly resolves almost every short coming I had with the A7riii. Which was the IBIS and the flip/tilt screen.
Matching dual card slot is welcome and the improve EVF is nice.
Improve AF is also welcome as I had so many missed shots when it come to wild poses.
Improve AF and bird tracking will be most helpful once I get the 200-600mm G.(late 2023).
I honestly don't think waiting for the A1 mkii would be worth it for my needs. As the extra cost could go to the 200-600mm. Or even other glass like the 14mm.
Super fun review! Love the energy
Great review Jason!
Your reviews are fire 🔥🔥🔥
This review is funny AF! 🤣🤣🤣 i can’t afford this thing but I love watching your reviews! great job as always, sir!
Love this review Jason.
Awesome video. Love how entertaining your presentation is♥️😂
Great review! Here in Kamakura, waiting for leaves to change. It’s been surprisingly very cool lately. I think I’ll hang on to A7RIV for a while. The only negative about Mapcamera is that most cameras have Japanese only menus. I think it’s been due to travel restrictions, thus decreasing their inventory of global cameras? Are you planning in a meet up in Tokyo? Be safe!
Excellent review. This style reminds me of Kai and Lok and how they blend jokes and fun moments with narrative voice over. Well done!
Miss the good ol digital rev days!
Thanks for your review, it’s helpful, kindly tell me how you reflect the camera screen on the smartphone?
This is my dream camera, it has everything I could ever want!
Great video and review! I am so jealous of your trips to Japan! Are you here in San Francisco???
Nice work Jason. Very entertaining but also thorough review. Thanks..
Got something for you
I'm very excited for the A9 III after watching this. I think the AF improvements are perfect for that system. I'm not in a place to drop 6k on an A1 but I'm looking for an upgrade to my A7III.
I’m in the same boat. Seems like the RV is a solid upgrade from A7III
@Jason this is trully a remarkable piece of video. Thank you !
Great review! Loved the addition of Bink's Sake at 16:18
Got something for you
the editing is absolutely flawless
@@RodMacQuarrie dude literally no need to be rude, NOBODY is perfect and as a youtuber of three channels (and i do all the work and editing completely by myself) I KNOW how HARD it is and how much work a video requires to have such a great quality, so the work on this video is REMARKABLE and insane.
Best a7RV review so far! Thanks Jason.
I appreciate the fun of your videos. I go looking for Jason Vong when something new hits. "Wow!!!!"
thank you thank you!
I always enjoy your videos and lots of inspiration. Can you make a video on this new camera and street photography, since this is high res cam, how do you deal with noise? And night street photography … thanks in advance
Jason you really did a GREAT JOB !! Thank you
This was very interesting and entertaining to watch! Loved it! Fun review
Dream camera. Probably won’t jump on the preorder train, but my A7RIII’s days are numbered.
I love this style!!! Super entertaining
This is the peak of photography content. No meme. Excellent format!
Jason as someone who is ready for an upgrade from an A7rii and is looking to do both adventure photography and filming with one camera would you suggest the A7rV for that? It seems like the A7siii is pretty clearly a better camera for filming but is lacking the megapixels I'd want for landscapes
I’ll also be waiting patiently for what the Sony a7V will have in the future. That new flippy screen would be 👌🏽👍🏽😃!
Awesome review. Will this new tech be used on an updated A7S4 model do you think? Would this be a better option for video than the A7siii or FX3? So many questions!
Just putting it out there, I think you got a future in the local car dealership advertising landscape. Real talk, great review!
I will look into that when RUclips doesn't pan out for me 🤣
Nice, Good job! Jason
Amazing Presentation !
Fantastic video review very informative and entertaining :D Keep it up!!!
Ordered and can’t wait! The 8K, autofocus and most importantly for me is the flip screen!!
As mentioned. Am excited to upgrade from the A7III. As I do like to crop my images often and the high resolution will help retain the details. Looks like this model is great.
I was just about to order the A7s III today but saw this release. I do indoor studio videos, which would you suggest?
Still a7S III
GREAT REVIEW! What is the attachment you had on the camera to let your phone sit on top of it?
Always gotta watch yours first man!!
😎 i appreciate that!
This is the BEST video you've made!!
Love the commercial style in the beginning haha
Terrific review Jason! You got me to watch the whole thing, but I was already sold 1/3 of the way through. This is going to steal from A1 sales I think!
So it is the Baby A1 without the sports fps. Damn good
Very fun video! Great work!
Got something for you..
I have an a7r iv, and for what I shoot (hybrid photo and video), the improved video specs alone make me think this would be a good upgrade. As it is, I was already in the market for a second camera, so it’s a no-brainer for me!
Very impressive camera and great review.
New fan! Concise video & no BS.
Thank you
Jason, love your work! I recently bought the A7rv with a new grip and found that the grip did not fit and later found out that that is an issue with the current grip sold and said to fit as per the Sony Corporate, but I can tell you that after taking it back to Precision Camera in Austin Texas I was told that I was among numerous a7rv owners advising that the battery grip fitment was off. I had a gap that I was able to see through. Was wondering if you had the same issue if and when you tried a battery grip with your camera. There is a big thread on DP Review regarding this issue. Hope it gets fixed soon and maybe you could contact some of your Sony rep's and see what's up with this issue. Keep up the good work. Thank You
Great review vid, J&V! Sony’s done well pumping out new hardware, and interesting strategy with the updates - waiting to see what will transfer over to a future A1ii and A9iii. The 4-axis screen seems a bit overkill (more physical parts to wear and tear), but someone already complained they want a 5th axis, lol. The AI seems behind to implement given the amount of processing that happens on cell phones, but better late than never.
Phones aren't even in the same universe in terms of AF and the only reason they PP as much is to compensate for their poor sensors. A 61mp FF camera doesn't need any post-processing. Have you ever tried to edit a smartphone image on a full screen? My S22U images don't stand upto any scrutiny at all. They are behind even a 10-year-old GF1.
you have just said what we are all thinking. The A1 MKII. we know it's going to happen, so is it worth holding out on this, for the next gen A1 or A9
@@mdc3227 so true. I have to deal with iPhone vids all the time, and when stacked up against my pro Sony's and Canons, they just look like crap. but they are amazing for the phone to phone world. as long as they stay in that world, they are amazing. but out side, yuk.
So good, I have to like it on my photography channel too hahaha. I wonder, do you think with the new options in megapixel the files will still be heavy for drives? This camera actually does look like the one to rule them all. At least for what I do hahah
Got something for you..
Well done Jason! Well done!
BUT I didn't know one could grasp air. Jason, the last Airbender. 😂 😂
Awesome 📷. Entertaining review 👌
Jason is a great seller lol ... Great video, my friend. I"ll probably buy that camera
you know jason i always ur HQ video / photo pleased my eyesss great work mate
Dude! best freaking video youve ever done! Sadly I just bought a 7iv...dammit man
Great video.. thank you.. but how about battery life vs. number of captured shots!?
As an A7III owner... all of these features look great, but I think I'll invest in some lenses.
always invest in lenses!
Me too. Lenses first since my A7RIII makes great photos. Then I'll buy bodies only when my lenses needs will be filled
Thanks Jason 🙏
I am getting this camera what all around card that's not expensive would you recommend?fantastic video.
Really great review, Jason! Made sure to watch yours first btw.😉
as everyone should!
Outside of my budget at the moment but GAHHH this thing is a photography BEAST!
Great video man!
Any word if the 1080p video recording is binned down from a higher resolution by any chance?
🇧🇷
Ganhou um seguidor. Eu acho engraçado a maneira que os vídeos são apresentados, sem falar na qualidade absurda das imagens. Parabéns! Um grande abraço daqui do Brasil.
🇬🇧
You've gained a following.
I find it funny the way the videos are presented, not to mention the absurd quality of the images. Congratulations! A big hug from here in Brazil.
With active stabilization, there is a slight jitter in your footage. Even in standard it looks smoother.
This is probably the funniest camera review I've ever seen! And by the way, I love the new camera a lot, I could probably find a good use for it 🙂
Great video review and presentation
Great Video!
Thanks , i need to buy this now but plz give me advice wich lens u have? And speed flah?
Best video that I saw for Sony a 7R V and made me want to get one
Got something for you..
Really good video!!!
I got the FX30 I think it’s the best deal for me who is super invested in crop senor lenses
That LCD makes me really excited for the next a7s :o
You missed saying - wacky waving inflatable flailing tube man! Nice review as always. Been waiting for this one but that price is ouch 😅
Love the “whowwww!” Sound effect 😂😂
What's the best place to learn everything about camera's and filming?
Love your reviews man! great job. Question for you. I will be at D-land this Dec for the Holiday decor. I have the a7s3 and a74 cameras (24-70 sigma and 16-28 sigma) if you were choose to only take one of the camera bodies which would you take. It would be mostly for video but some photos. Last time I went I just had my DJI pocket 2. it did well except for low light of course. I now have the insta360 x3 I will bringing as well (for daytime) thanks.
I would do a7S III simply as you've said, low light. I also appreciate the no crop in 4K60p on the a7S III as opposed to the a74.
@@JasonVong thanks for the reply, I was kind of thinking the same, I really don't need higher res photos either. Might even do 120 fps on some clips we will see lol.
New subscriber here! Love that you are shooting in DL. I shoot at WDW for my IG and jobs. I'm switching to Sony from Canon crop sensor (FINALLY!) and have been looking at the A74 but this video makes me question all my research! The hard part for me however is my budget. I am trying to stay under 4500-5000 for the camera and two lenses. Would you recommend the a7R V over the A74? also which lenses would you say are a must? I usually have my 85mm, 11-16mm, and 50 but that's all crop. I was looking at the Sigma 24-70mm but torn if I should go with the 35-105mm Tamron or just a fixed 35mm and go 70-200? Thanks for the advice from your fellow friendly Disney photographer!
I love the voiceover!!!
Such a great camera, I want to wait for the A9III to determine which one I will upgrade to. I use an A7III for 3 years now, it's fine for most things I photograph, but higher speed and higher resolution is welcome.
Jason… interested in your opinion on this? Would it make sense to trade in an A7RIV and A7Siii for a new A7RV? At the moment I think I have a unique benefit with the 2… but would you consider it an upgrade on both fronts? Thanks for your feedback.
This was great, informative and entertaining
