    Are there any other service jobs you'd recommend doing at the same time as this major bit of work? Like any other things likely to fail or need cleaning for the mileage. Like the egr and pipes leading to it or the water pump.for example . Cheers .

      I had exactly this problem with my A6 Allroad. Luckily bought approved used from Audi so got it covered under extended warranty. However the service team at the local Audi service did something wrong and managed to detonate three of the six pistons almost blowing the head completely off. I wondered why the quick job was taking a little longer than expected. Eventually got the car back four months later but unfortunately lost all confidence in her so chopped it in for a 2016 Q7. Now experiencing exactly the same issue. Got a low coolant warning this morning and had to top up nearly a litre of coolant.

    AD I have a question Im from California I recently bought a used 2008 Touareg 4.2 fsi 172k from a private partty site unseen in Ohio for really cheap price the car seems to be in at least a 8/9 condition mechanically supposedly been sitting for 2yrs . Required a jump to start but engine ran smooth after test drive it was taken on 70 miles trek where it was discovered a high speed vibration which I believe could be the drive shaft ..the concerning issue is the above 70 the tempeture rose excessively and gave warning indicator once brought speed back down to 55/60 tempeture came back down to normal operating I used a service to obtain vehicle for me and I know they did not check any fluids at all at 55/60 the ride was uneventful..my question in your experience would this point more to water pump or thermostat ..I assuming it could possibly be low in fluids but if that be the case it will probably have a higher than normal operating temp once it was raised above normal..what do you think

    • @vorsprung
      @vorsprung  2 года назад +1

      Hi. We never got the touareg 4.2 in the UK. We did however, get the Q7 4.2, so I assume they are similar. I've not seen that problem with the 4.2. You're problem could be a few things. I would be checking all your coolant pipes are getting hot. If you have a cold one then your problem is on that circuit. If you can't find a cold pipe, you need to start changing the WP and thermostat, and go from there.

    Well, this is common for the previous 2gen diesels as well. But in the video it was not showed clearly the valley of the cylinder head. If this EGR cooler regulator leaks than the valley should be full of coolant first. From the video it was not possible to judge whether it is the case or not. It seems to be impossible to diagnose the leaking such a bad way by the previous shop, not checking the walley for coolant first.

    • @vorsprung
      @vorsprung  3 года назад +3

      This engine does not have the same EGR cooler problems as the previous generations. The setup in the valley of the engine is totally different to the older engines. I have now done about 10 of these end EVERY time, it has been this valve. So I can pretty much guarantee that if you have this leak on this generation of engine, the valve is the issue.
