Within Temptation, Nightwish, and Evanescence are my "Holy Trinity" when it comes to the symphonic metal genre.

@@hendrikbuijs2641 I thought about mentioning Delain, but decided against it because last I heard they had separated and are no longer active as a band, and I had interpreted this to only be about still active bands since this was a reaction to a very new song and all 3 mentioned are still active
But Lacuna Coil and Amaranthe could be mentioned, they are both still active last I heard and very good bands
I guess one could also mention Tarja as solo project but I didnt know if that was supposed to be included in the Nightwish mention since she used to be part of them

SAME but really just Sharon, Amy, and Tarja as singers. I love even the stuff they do that's not metal! They all have just such gorgeous voices.

Sharon is one the best metal singer from many years, like more metal Dutch metal singers. She began with Armin van Buuren, very famous Dj for Trance dance!

Evanescence has been around since at least 1998. Their huge hit album Fallen came out in 2003.

I'm Lutheran... We are like Catholic Lite...group confession and absolution, no nuns, a lot of forgiveness because everybody is broken in some way.

Evanescence is an American alternative metal band formed in 1995 in Little Rock, Arkansas, by vocalist and pianist Amy Lee and guitarist Ben Moody. The two bands have no connection of inspiration since Wthin Temptation is inspired by Nightwish and Sharon was inspired by Kate Bush, but it is important to highlight that Evanescence/Amy Lee gave more visibility to bands with female vocals than from then on Nightwish, Epica, Within Temptatin...were more recognized

@@mandalorianscum1138 So? My comment doesn't say which one came first, it is a way of telling people what the band is like. Within Temptation is not very well known in the US so when I am trying to describe it to other people I use Evanescence as a base descriptor because a lot more people in the US know them.
@@Kiernan5 sorry, I'm a little defensive when it comes to within temptation and Sharon! I fell in love with her and the band 27 years ago when I saw them live for the first time!
@@mandalorianscum1138 I discovered Within Temptation probably 5 or 6 years ago through a single song I heard on Pandora, Our Finest Hour, and I wanted to hear more, but I couldn't really find anything else. I ended up buying 3 of their CDs on Amazon just off the basis of that one song.

Adel only really started leaning heavily on the 'sighs' at the end of words with Resist.
Listen to their earlier stuff, Heart Of Everything and before.
Jackie Evancho did a very good good cover of "my immortal" at age 13... But it was a bonus track on the Japanese release of her album, AWAKENING. But, at age 14 she did it in concert for the pbs special,, Awakening in Concert- Live from Longwood Gardens ( Which is near Philadelphia, PA)
And of course, I was there to witness that great show where she did so many great things on stage, Such as Rokmonanoff's, Vocalize, the other Ave Maria (Handel's version ?), a number of arias and some modern songs, like U2, AND Even a song by within temptation, MEMORIES, Which is ostensibly their biggest worldwide hut... And I had to convince Jackie Evancho's mother to put it on the album as she was looking for suggestions. OH... She also sang The Reines of Castamere, from Game of Thrones.
A little late to comment but thought I would add that this song does have a religious context.
More specifically it is about anyone from any religion that tries to force their beliefs on you.
Halayah is the new PTX song just released and you really need to hear Matt. He is incredible. You have so much talent and I could listen to you sing any day Maggie.

they are a progressive heavy metal rock band fronted by 3 young women. They even played at wacken open air 2022 by invitation without an audition. Before performing at wacken, they have finished their second european tour.
You can try to make a reaction from the 3 single songs they have today such as "Not public property, God allow me please to play music, or school revolution", or even you can see their action when performing on the transmusicales, french. That's really awesome..

Heya Maggie, can you check out The Seeks, it was Australia's first pop band to get world recognition, sadly we lost Judith Durham the lead singer the other day. She has a very unique and amazing voice as do the others in the group. Carnival is over I think may be a good song to react to.

Besides Sharon's explanation of the song's meaning there are 2 other potential interpretations one could draw by listening... One would be of a lost soul that really wants to be prayed for, But feels unworthy due to her sins or scars.
Another potential interpretation could be someone who does not know anything about belief faith or religion or God or whatever yet, Or was raised that way, And therefore gets triggered easy.... But their journey may take them either to stay that way or to finally come to know spirituality and spirituality in one form or with a God belief.
