Yeah, it is pretty ridiculous. I think you could plug in to a pile of crap and it would sound good when you play like that. For what its worth, there are some really painful high frequencies coming through during your playing. I don't know if its your interface, or your compression/limiting, or just the raw sound of the pedal? I think it is too much compression. All the best!

As always, tasteful playing! Simply LOVE you getting this kind of quality tones on an HB guitar with an HB pedal. It shows again that gears are just tools serving a musician.. and HB gear are pretty unbeatable on the “bang for the bucks” category.

Hi Jonathan, glad to see you keep safe. I have of these pedals: 1 is AC true tone that, I used with an Ibanez TSA15 ( tube amp with very transparent tone) before I found a used Vox AC15, that pedal offers a very good simulation of the Vox AC, 15 or 30 on turning the vouce button. The 2nd pedal is the purple color brit tone, simulating a Marshall, voice button going from a Blues Breaker tone to JCM to modern JVM, I compared it to a Marshall 2525C that I used to have, and simulation was pretty good too. I expect the orange American tone has a voicing going from Fenderish tone to a Mesa Boogie tone. By the way , the Ibanez TSA15 is a very good and affordable tube amp, I kept it while selling the Marshall.
Amazing intro Jonathan. I’ve had bad luck with HB pedals and I suspect my homes supply. They all whine badly even when off but they are great value when they work. Thanks for another great one.
Great tone Jon, no doubt. But your phrasing is always novel and on point. You have a fantastic way of expressing what you feel that isn't predictable and doesn't bore the listeners ear. I'm still amazed there is not a Jonathan Koh instrumental CD that I can purchase. I'm telling you, I'm a fan. you gotta make that happen. TAKE MY MONEY!!! As always...good vibes to you.
If you enjoy these "amp in a box" pedals, I highly recommend Tech 21. I use the Tech 21 Blonde as my clean amp, with an overdrive or two going into it and reverb/delay after. My sound has never been better, and I can plug directly into the board. No more amp, and the sound guys at church loved me!

Most of the time I can't stand it when somebody touches the 'whammy bar'. So much so that I play hard-tail guitars because I suck at it as well (I'm a beginner). You make it sound good. DHL jacked up shipping rates from Thomann to the US and I expect getting a timely shipment is probably not very good. I expect some shipments got onto passenger aircraft that had unused capacity and that has gone away for a while.

Thanks for recommendation Jonathon, I would probably just buy the AMERICAN Joyo pedal as the Thomann pedal is just a rebadged Joyo and it simulates the Fender tone. I am leaning more towards the ACTONE as I like the Vox AC30 tone much more. Joyo has a full line of them with the Cab Sim. As always, excellent review!

I've got to get that guitar. I am on a journey from acoustic to Electric. Maybe you could do a video on some things to think about when making this change. I'm 62 years old and I've been playing mostly acoustic all these years. The idea of changing up is daunting to me. Any hints?I had a freind give me his old Line6 spider V amp with the samplers built-in.

I am basically self taught..no formal music education even though I yearned for one in my earlier years. But no money= no school. So I stayed in Singapore playing in bands..and progressed to being a recording engineer/session player/arranger/songwriter/producer.🤓 Thank you for your encouragement! Keep safe too!!!✌❤
Nice vid! Got me one of these but it makes a very noticeable hissing noise even when turned off making it unusable on my board. Too bad as it has the full rack of tones going for it.

@@JonIsJustTooLoud it is an analog pedal as it uses resistors and capacitors to produce the amp sound. i was referring to the Vox amp sim found on digital modelers if this one sounds better. comparing say the VOX AC30 emulation from ZOOM G5N?
Dear Jonathan. Thanks for the next interesting review. I'd like to ask for your advice regarding my gear using mainly at home. I use: Fender Telecaster Player, Mooer GE 200 and PreSonus Eris E4.5 4.5-inch, 2-way, High-Definition Active Studio Monitors. Sound is very nice but signal send by my guitar through GE 200 is weak (relatively silent even if i turn master volume on. Very often I play with backing tracks). Can I use something affordable to strengten signal of my guitar? Thanks a lot for you help.
Hi Robert... It should not be this way...I'm suspecting that the output is faulty unless the rest of your guitars are the same. Then it could be the cords or something faulty with the GE200 input settings. Make sure that there is no Pad activated.✌❤
Jonathan Koh thanks for your response. I modified some settings in GE 200: increased amp simulation volume to 85%, activated pure boost to 85%. It is much better now
Different modeling..The american model features the emulation of american made amps (Fender and Mesa) and the british one feature british amps like the VOX and Marshalls✌❤
When you first started playing, I just thought it had a Hendrix vibe to it, wow 🤩. Man you could gig with that pedal alone. You seem to playing that HB a lot these days, is there any particular reason for it? Thank you Jonathan 👍
Its just the backing track that made me play that way...I did not listen a lot to Hendrix when I 1st started playing... As for the guitar..I just like playing on it!! But i'm still loving my G&Ls and the others lol
I noticed after making my comments you put a link on a Hendrix video, perhaps after seeing it it may have influenced you? I tried plugging my Line 6 pod V2 into my Boss Katana 50 to see how it sounded, after watching this video. I’ve only ever used it going into my Audio interface before. Well I was quite disappointed, in that the AMP on its own sounded much more full and just nicer sounding. I next need compare recording a mic to the AMP and the Line 6 pod V2 direct. I think I can record direct on the Katana too via USB, so lots of variables. I may just get a G & L guitar one day, I know you like them a lot.
I watched the latest documentary on Eric Clapton last year and I was not impressed with his lifestyle. It was really sordid. Same with Jimi Hendrix. All the drugs, alcohol and women they went through almost killed Eric and finally did kill Jimi. What can I say? We were all pretty stupid when we were younger. I'm glad EC found a wife and family for his life. I hear that he is very happy now, but the "rock star" lifestyle is a very bad illusion that takes a lot of lives every year.

Hi Robert... It should not be this way...I'm suspecting that the output is faulty unless the rest of your guitars are the same. Then it could be the cords or something faulty with the GE200 input settings. Make sure that there is no Pad activated.✌❤
Jonathan Koh thanks for your response. I modified some settings in GE 200: increased amp simulation volume to 85%, activated pure boost to 85%. It is much better now

Its just the backing track that made me play that way...I did not listen a lot to Hendrix when I 1st started playing... As for the guitar..I just like playing on it!! But i'm still loving my G&Ls and the others lol
I noticed after making my comments you put a link on a Hendrix video, perhaps after seeing it it may have influenced you? I tried plugging my Line 6 pod V2 into my Boss Katana 50 to see how it sounded, after watching this video. I’ve only ever used it going into my Audio interface before. Well I was quite disappointed, in that the AMP on its own sounded much more full and just nicer sounding. I next need compare recording a mic to the AMP and the Line 6 pod V2 direct. I think I can record direct on the Katana too via USB, so lots of variables. I may just get a G & L guitar one day, I know you like them a lot.

I watched the latest documentary on Eric Clapton last year and I was not impressed with his lifestyle. It was really sordid. Same with Jimi Hendrix. All the drugs, alcohol and women they went through almost killed Eric and finally did kill Jimi. What can I say? We were all pretty stupid when we were younger. I'm glad EC found a wife and family for his life. I hear that he is very happy now, but the "rock star" lifestyle is a very bad illusion that takes a lot of lives every year.
