I bought the Sweet Baby off of Amazon and A/B'd it against a Bogner LaGrange and a Friedman Brown Eye pedal. The Sweet Baby totally held its own when compared to these expensive top shelf pedals.
@@orchidmalevolence9726 I don't use mine in a traditional way, I actually use it with my gain knob on 0 like how many people use a TS. I can get a nice pre gain boost and a nice low gain drive that sounds natural
The Hot Plexi is a monster. Close your eyes and you are playing thru an old Marshall. Incredible pedal. Highly recommended. Essentially early 70’s Zeppelin in a box.
joyo vintage overdrive is a absolute must have on a board. Drive a crunchy amp or stack with other pedals. Sounds very close to a tube screamer but has a bit more crunch right away. I bought a ibanez screamer to replace it and ended up using both on my board set differently.
I've owned the Sweet Drive. It's good. It is very responsive to your dynamics while playing ( I.E. softer playing, less breakup, harder playing more crunch ). I think I was playing it with a 335 style semi-hollow and it had great tone.
Hello- I purchased the JOYO Vintage Overdrive quite a few years ago and have never regretted it. It has amazing harmonic overtones at any level and has some interesting sweet spots on the Tone knob. I paid $27 then (Lol), and they haven't gone up much since then. I've had ALL (many) of the vintage and modified, Ibanez TS pedals and loved them, but this thing gives you all of those tones at a fraction of the cost. I was a full-time gigging professional for most of my life since the late 70's till 2015' (was). Cheers
Great video that really highlights how nearly all pedals are either better suited to SC or humbuckers but rarely both. The ultimate drive was the best all rounder.
I like your videos! You do not give shit information, ever. You talk straight/tell it how it is. And (for a German, sorry I'm a Brit), you have a great sense of humour. Keep dong what you do. I will keep watching. Spent some money following your demos....never been disappointed.
No doubt about that. I make and play 3-string Cigar Box Guitar, mostly fretless. They're usually loaded with a mini-humbucker in the neck position. The Joyo Sweet Baby delivers the subtle, warm, swampy crunch I'm looking for. If you're a Blues player, I think you need this pedal. I've paired mine up with a modified Joyo Tremolo pedal. This combo, allows me to produce some really steamy tones from my CGBs.
I agree with you; cannot beat a selection of analog pedals. Because I am currently skint (short of money), I have gone with the Mooer G100. Got an ST62 arriving today (from Thomann) and have pre-ordered a HB TE-52. Happy days!
Thanks for this great video. I have been looking at some of these pedals on Amazon all of which get good reviews, but was really wanted to hear the difference between them. As I looked at demos here on youtube they were all from different players with different gear so it is hard to really tell the difference. Your video made it crystal clear and I really liked how they all sounded. Thanks again. Can't believe I had not heard of the pedals sooner.
hi, a big bravo and thank you for your videos. They are examples of quality. I bought the Overdrive / Distortion Harley Benton and I regret being too full of high frequencies. I have to cut the tone knob and the treble of my amp to get a satisfactory result. Shame ... Thank you again!
You could get a good handful of these for what a vintage Tube Screamer goes for these days. Blind testing I wonder how well the mystical TS9 would do. Nice clip.
The Crunch Distortion is based on an MI AUDIO crunchbox which has a fair amount of high mids and can get a bit fizzy and the V30 has a fair bit of high mids too so maybe it is the speaker but it is probably cheaper to try a different joyo or get a a joyo EQ pedal if you like the base tone with the V30
can't seem to figure out how to post a NEW comment....anyway....really enjoy your videos....your opinion on the joyo that gives you the "brown sound" thanks or any other reasonably priced pedal that produces the brown sound.....
I have a few Joyo pedals. I love them all, but probably the one pedal that I was least impressed with both here and during my use was the Vintage Overdrive. It is marketed as a copy of the Tube Screamer. I don't think it even comes close to this mark. I have to say my favourites are the US Dream and the Ultimate Drive. Both are meaty with plenty of tone.
I don't know what sort of sound you prefer, I replaced my TS-9 with Joyo Vintage overdrive, I liked it more and it's not only me almost everyone I know they say the same. you can check the pedal shootout videos on you tube, Ibanez TS9 with Joyo VO
My favourite are Ultimpate Drive and Hot Plexi. They got the mids just right. Others are little too muddy without the bite of a cranked amp which make them a little boring. Extreme Metal is too bright to my taste, but maybe it's just the settings.
Crunch Distortion and Vintage Overdrive sound the best. The rest sound a bit thin, lacking in bass, even heard a bit of pitch trouble when a couple notes collide.
Very enjoyable introduction :) Great sound and playing too. So nochmal in Muttersprache :) Gefällt mir sehr gut, was du da machst! Und echt lustig wie du das am Anfang verhaspelt hast ;)
What can i say - this is quality demoing. Your channel will grow. Many thanks, i have checked most of your videos on Joyo/Harley B. I will buy some of the pedals Thomann has for the moment. Probably the Ultimate Drive, Vintage OD and the Crunch Dist. For starters that is - they sound superb : )
Excellent rewiew, i have the joyo woodoo (fuzz) it's terrific. Joyo or Harley Benton if you prefer are amazing, great sound great quality and small price. Thanks a lot.
I'm in the market for a "swiss army" distortion pedal that I can just keep inside my Peavey Royal 8 with a couple cable and take to jams without pulling apart or lugging around my full pedal board. I know there is no such thing as a one pedal fits all solution but which one do you think covers the most bases? We play everything from 70s classic rock to 90s grunge, light on the 80s stuff.
really enjoy your videos....your opinion on the joyo that gives you the "brown sound" thanks or any other reasonably priced pedal that produces the brown sound.....
Hey Henning, just to confirm it: the Harley Benton Crunch Distortion is exactly the same as the Joyo Crunch Distortion right? Even if they have different designs? Thanks.
Well... no HB equivalent... they never re-branded that series. The sweet baby sounds nothing like a Klon, it is very open and the Centaur is all about th mids and not the high end.
Hi... funny... the pedals are from Harley Benton, my name is Henning, Henning Pauly! As for Pop Rock... so, not a lot of gain.... probably the Deluxe Crunch, maybe sweet baby... of course, the Vintage Overdrive is Tube Screamer... so you always need one of those....
Nice explanation regarding what is were made and i would say the sound should be listen by ears not by ayes, i have tried some of harley benton pedals and they are very very good+due to this video i will bay some. Do you know will thoman maybe have any of ''biyang'' guitar pedals?
OK thanks yes that is for sure "Biyang" pedals under the name of "Fame", amazing quality of pedals and sound i have OTD pro overdrive with the tube for almost 5 years and still it works perfect much better than any Vox, t-rex, mesa boogie tube pedals i have ever tried out, and there are a lot of German made electronic parts in it. so you have the point we do live in the world of moolty national companies so is it made in China, Germany or US i do not care as long as "Joyo" pedals sounds great as they do i will very gladly bay them not just because the price but because they are better than many of Boss; digitech and Dunlap pedals which are 2-3 times more expensive and according to my ears at least 2 times Joyo is sounding better that any of those. friendly regards M.
Hi, I have 5 PRS guitars, three US and two SE models. The Joyo pedals are great, just watch all my videos! I am uploading a studio tour right now... watch it, you'll see everything.
Question. I'm trying to decide between the Deluxe Crunch and the Crunch Distortion. Would you say that the Deluxe Crunch is basically the same pedal as thd Crjnch Distortion with a Pre knob? If that's the case, for just a few bucks more it makes sense just to get it.
This is a very good demo, I owned sweet baby and I have vintage overdrive, ultimate drive - they sound like on your video (maybe my ultimate drive is little different- I use it with gain on 0 as a booster).
EytshPi42 , did you maybe discover what issue is exactly with that boost, was it just that pedal shown in the test or all of the extreme meeeeeetal Joyo have that lets say- not nice sounding- boost, thanks in advance, regards.
Hi, I think they cloned an Electro Harmonix METAL MUFF. I also played Mooer's clone of that pedal and it has the same horrible high end boost... I think this is simply what the high end boost of the Metal Muff does... I just wouldn't use it.
Hello. Thanks for the video, is great!!! The Crunch Distortion and the Deluxe Crunch sound very different, and they are the same pedal, except for the Pre bottom. I'm confused. Somebody explain to me. :/
I recommend these pedals to everyone...do I think people should be supporting small pedal manufacturers? ABSOLUTELY...but it never hurts to have some good, cheap tones lying around for those days when you don't wanna drag your king of tone out to a smoldering hot gig in the middle of nowhere
Hi! For a guitar with high output ceramic humbuckers + Blues Junior 4, would you recommend the Ultimate Drive or the Crunch Distortion to get a Marshally/rock rhythm sound without it being too trebly/fizzy? Thanks for your help
I use an Epiphone DOT, an Ibanez head TSA15H and V30 Palmer cabinet ... maybe I should change the speaker .... to lose overflow aggressive sounds. A Green Back maybe??
that's weird... the TSA15H is a great amp... the Crunch Distortion has some bite, but it should work... don't know the Palmer Speaker... but if you can compensate with the amp it's fine... doesn't matter how you get the sound as long as you get it...
HI Henning, IMO Crunch Distortion has a very powerful rhythm tone - the best "chuga-chuga" sound, but it is very over powering, like its 40db above every other pedal - it tries to kill your amp!&$&. what will be the closest pedal to this without being so "LOUD"? thanks

4:15 actually starts playing
I bought the Sweet Baby off of Amazon and A/B'd it against a Bogner LaGrange and a Friedman Brown Eye pedal. The Sweet Baby totally held its own when compared to these expensive top shelf pedals.
6 years ago ......... and this is STILL relevant . Thanks EytschPi42. You are a legend.
Bought the Ultimate Drive, it made me want to build an entire pedalboard with their pedals
heard a lot of good about that one
They said it's a good pedal but not for live setting. What do you think
@@orchidmalevolence9726 I don't use mine in a traditional way, I actually use it with my gain knob on 0 like how many people use a TS. I can get a nice pre gain boost and a nice low gain drive that sounds natural
Thanks guys, it is good to be appreciated!!! More videos coming... have ten new pedals!
Forget the pedals. Totally dig your rock room and isolation cabs.
The Ultimate Drive sounds very close to amp distortion. Really impressed
I've owned the Sweet Drive.
It's good. It is very responsive to your dynamics while playing ( I.E. softer playing, less breakup, harder playing more crunch ).
I think I was playing it with a 335 style semi-hollow and it had great tone.
OMG! Returning to your roots! I never thought we’d meet under these circumstances again.

Will these pedals still sound good through a solid state amp?
They do through my blackstar id core
The Sweet Baby sounds great through an old solid state Yamaha.
Just got the Deluxe Crunch. Excellent Pedal
I like your videos! You do not give shit information, ever. You talk straight/tell it how it is.
And (for a German, sorry I'm a Brit), you have a great sense of humour.
Keep dong what you do. I will keep watching.
Spent some money following your demos....never been disappointed.
Based on your review, I bought a Joyo Sweet Baby. Best value ever. If you want blues style overdrive, the Sweet Baby delivers.
The entire blackheart line to your right. A man of taste. Nicely done.
Brian Roy Great amps... not crazy about the 15 Watt, but the others are amazing for the price !
HI, Thanks for the praise... which pedal did you buy?
Can u pick two pedal for me..one use for lead tone and one for some rhythm/riffs ..for my all type music generally ..tq man
Us dream for me and crunch distortion !!
look like EDIE VAN HALEN SOUND!
Agreed - those two caught my ear as well!
I play Us Dream. It's very good pedal.
Agreed. Also like the Deluxe Crunch
Us dream I have 1 it is so Good Swear
Hot Plexi for Jeff Healey stuff is great!
Your guitar looks great. Nice finishing.
you can buy joyo pedals on donnerdeal with $30~$40
You got a point sir.
Best pedal channel on youtube, you have convinced me to impulse buy a few Harley Benton pedals.
yes, they are.
Sweet baby or Vintage OD? For blues/funk sound.

Great guitar the modern eagle, I have the ten top custom 24 with the same finish but with the 59s. It has a great sound too.
It seems that Thomann does not have them any more
This channel is great!! Love the quality of the sound, ihope you make more videos of other pedals
when I got my sweet baby a few months back... I didn't know it was this old!? but its still plenty sweet.
Came for the pedals review, got more intrested in the isolation box with the cabs. Do you have a video about that?
yes i do
Crunch Distortion and Vintage Overdrive sound the best. The rest sound a bit thin, lacking in bass, even heard a bit of pitch trouble when a couple notes collide.
im a newbie here....I hear a slightly brighter tone on the Harley pedals...my preference..........I now know which I want first! thanks!
cual es la cancion que toca del 00:00 al 00:30?
You should demo some Biyang pedals, I'm liking the budget pedals.
Very enjoyable introduction :) Great sound and playing too.

Ultimaredrive & Extreme metal are awesome for me.

I have a couple of Joyo pedals that I think are great. But now I know about Harley Benton being cheaper I will look at those rebranded models.
What the main difference between the us dream and the ultimate distorion? I want to buy one of them but I cant hear the difference.

I personally liked the Plexi 👍
0:42 listen it at 0,25x

Hello. Thanks for the video, is great!!!
The Crunch Distortion and the Deluxe Crunch sound very different, and they are the same pedal, except for the Pre bottom.
I'm confused.
Somebody explain to me. :/
It is not the same. The crunch distorssion is a distorssion and the deluxe crunch is an Overdrive.
what an excellent video !!! Well done dude, I'm gonna buy a lot of them !
hello, whats the name of the song on the begining? it sounds realy good.
Thats "I killed you" from henning's album with sebastian bach, the album is called an absence of empathy and its by frameshift
Definitely US Dream !!!
What do you prefer, JF-03 or JF-39? Tks.
yo is joyo and harley benton pedals the same circuitry? thanks
yes
I recommend these pedals to everyone...do I think people should be supporting small pedal manufacturers? ABSOLUTELY...but it never hurts to have some good, cheap tones lying around for those days when you don't wanna drag your king of tone out to a smoldering hot gig in the middle of nowhere
Do you work for Joyo? How about a dual overdrive? One light and one heavy.
I am kind of a consultant now... dual pedals are a cool idea for future projects, right now they're focusing on the Ironman series.
EytschPi42 when they gonna put on the streets the ironman series?
do you think it will sound good if i mix the deluxe crunch with the hot plexi?
Don't think so, hot Plexi has too much gain for stacking another pedal on it !
EytschPi42 based from your ears, what do you think is the most flexible or the pedal that can cover most of the genres out there?
What would you recomend between crunch distortion and crunch deluxe?
that's weird... the TSA15H is a great amp... the Crunch Distortion has some bite, but it should work... don't know the Palmer Speaker... but if you can compensate with the amp it's fine... doesn't matter how you get the sound as long as you get it...
Wich is the equivalent HB of the Joyo US Dreamer?
they don't have that one, the U.S. Dream is from series 2 and they only have series 1
Paul, what in your opinion is the pedal to get a sound like Glimour's solo ?
Ultimate drive boosted with an od and some delay
Ich hab das Joyo JF-08 Delay pedal, gefällt mir ganz gut
Thanks, good video again. one of us have been using joy pedals long time. Good sounding, doesn't really cost much.
love your videos looking for a cheap fuzz pedal whats you opion on the joyo voodoo fuzz pedal thanks again
it is a destroyer, but if you are lookin for that broken fuzz sound, it's great!
HI Henning,
IMO Crunch Distortion has a very powerful rhythm tone - the best "chuga-chuga" sound, but it is very over powering, like its 40db above every other pedal - it tries to kill your amp!&$&. what will be the closest pedal to this without being so "LOUD"? thanks
Get a cab and a head
What happened to fuzz? You don't have any fuzz pedals?
I play a lot of punk and alternative rock (think Husker Du, MC5, Stiff Little Fingers, Ramones, etc.). Which of these pedals would you (or anyone) suggest for that kind of music? after watching your video I'm thinking I should buy the Ultimate Drive.
I think that the crunch or the deluxe crunch
Henning, which joyo O.D. would you recommend for pushing a solidly crunchy amp into searing high gain?
hey can you (or anyone else) tell me which of these pedals would be the best for playing some zeppelin tunes?
Probably the Plexi, but I've never used any of these.
- Zach -
i love your videos, please use a Strat in some of them.
TY
