    These budget effects manufacturers have really decoded these units. This is a $30 pedal! I bought from Thomann so shipping was another $25 but I'm not losing any sleep over it. This is an awesome pedal.
    Several years back I had a Marshall 1987X Plexi that I slammed a DOD 250 into the front end with so it was all juicy EL34 power tube distortion. A "one trick pony" to be sure, but to this day I compare all of these "Marshall In a Box" pedals against that tone.
    I would be willing to bet that a blindfolded "Pepsi Challenge" would reveal that you would not be able to tell the difference. This little jewel is that good. Solid build. True bypass. Nice, dead quiet foot switch. Very tweakable.
    Get one before Harley Benton realizes what they have and doubles their price!

    Very usefull comparison. These are great pedals for a certain purpose. Simple, analog sound, flexible. I don't understand there are not more like these. The original tech 21 pedals are hard to get and seem discontinued. The new tech 21 ones, way too expensive. A sSimplifier too expensive and not so simple. Harley Benton has a fantastic pedal line with these ! I already love the Actone and ordered British and American

    I have them all except the American.They all sound great really and have plenty tweakability(is that a word?)You are definitely right about the California,it is very low end heavy but my GE-7takes care of that.I think it is my favourite though the AC Tone really does capture that Vox mojo.I love my ever growing Distortion collection and have grit of every kind,so much so I choose 1 every day,put it on my board in the spare slot and either record or just noodle around.Thank you Cory for turning me on to this gear,they sound great and are affordable,if they can make such great pedals at low price,why buy a certain company's plastic pedals?

  • @althewicked
    @althewicked Год назад

    The only one which is quite different is the "Actone" because it doesent has that analog cab sim which cut a lot of high frequencies. Thats the reason why so few voted for that pedal in the comments. The other three pedals sounding more pleasant as stand alone but the "Actone" is very usefull as a Tube Screamer like overdrive pedal and for some Queen and Beatles tones.
    There is also a Extreme Metal one which is nice too.

      American = Fender Deluxe/Tweed (SRV style tones - bluesy and clean)
      AC Tone = Vox AC-30 (from Beatles to Brian May)
      British = Marshall JCM series (800 or 900 perhaps?)
      California = Mesa-Boogie (voice control sweeps between MKII C+ and MK IV series, and maybe a bit of Dual Rectifier?)

    What do they sound like in parallel?

    • @anonymousanonymous1314
      @anonymousanonymous1314 6 лет назад

      Oh, have you tried it? I had given thought to splitting the signal and running, for example, a clean American with a slightly broken British or something to that effect. I've been using an AC Tone as a DI for some time now and have been very pleased with the results. Slap it on the pedal board and you don't have to worry about hauling an amp and mic around, and it sounds good enough that nobody will really notice the difference.
      I know some people get an extra little something when running a Fender and a Marshall in parallel so I had hoped you could get a similar effect with simulators.

    • @stuartchapman5171
      @stuartchapman5171 Год назад

      I'm a big fan and promoter of parallel. I'm not a guitarist, I do audio tech and use a lot of pedals fur experimental and drone synth work. I use y splitters and or matrix mixers to run parallel and series fx chains, sometimes feeding them back into each other.
      The best guitar tone I ever heard was an average guitar split parallel into a muff, screamer, Guvnor, hm2, Met Zone and Gristliser into a Kustom Defender 5w tube and 1x12. Apart from the Guvnor the pedals were clones. It was so rich in harmonics, you had the option to shape the drive and more importantly the eq in so many ways. Because I was using a matrix mixer I spent the night blending these with series chains and feedback. It would be great to see a proper guitarist using this set up. It's interesting to see many boutique pedal builders, who are creating modern refined twin/triple dirt pedals are giving the option of series and parallel signal switching.

      Hey, Cory thanks a heap I just ordered 1, $20.00 USD + $6.00 USD Shipping. I think that is a good deal. Thanks for the video, I have the ACtone its good. I like to just run them straight home recording.
      I am amazed at the Pedal market when I started playing I got KENT Distorter, in 1965 used from a friend. He got a Vox Buckingham that have a clipper installed so I got the pedal which I used with 1484 SIlvertone Amplifier. Gosh, I am just now getting into pedals. But thats good I am having fun.

    Hi Cory, first of all, I would like to say a big Thank You for your high quality reviews and I would like to ask you that, why is it, that these pedals are not just Harley Benton pedals but also Joyo pedals? I mean, which company is the original "creator", if you know what I mean. And again, thank you for your reviews and sorry if it's a silly question.

      Oooooo you make me feel bad now ;-( I wish I could get the hang of this RUclips thing...last comment I was logged in with the wrong account (SimplyTheBest) - and I'm *sure* I just changed my avatar...so where is it? Sheesh.... Anyway - keep up the good work! You must have got realllly bored with the endless repetitions - but where else can folk like us, stuck at the other end of a monitor, get to hear this range of pedals all together? :-D

      Gav Wright thank you! but i consider reupload it if there are more people complaining about it. no problem . don't feel bad.
      i thought it gets really boring without something for the eye. people vomiting was not the intention! Hehehe!

    In all seriousness, I'm probably going to buy all four pedals. It will still cost LESS than $200 US Dollars, and you're basically buying the tone-prints of 4 classic amps, plus more depending on how you set the "Voice" controls. You can get so many tones with these.

    ... 03/18/2020: Hello, I love your video lessons. You mentioned you want viewers to reply with what viewers would like to see. OK, how about demonstrating the Fender 2x12 speakers Wholetone solid-state amp. I have some doubts about it: (1) Very pricey solid-state, (2) No effects loop, (3) No headphone jack (Note: The switch on the back is nothing more or less than a volume selector switch, so headphones are still desirable), (4), I understand it is trying to imitate the tube amp, but one of my questions for both the tube and solid-state Fender amps is why two channels to plug a guitar cable into? Why not just one guitar jack channel for totally clean (1-10 volume), and then dial in by hand or foot switch the reverb and tremolo? Also, Fender brags about its amps clean channel being great. But, in their tube amps the clean channel breaks up when the volume hits about "3" and I can understand that in a tube amp. But, in a solid-state amp, the clean channel should stay clean maxed out the volume (1-10). So, why not have in a solid-state amp a clean-channel that stays clean at maxed-out volume, and just has the Reverb and Tremolo and Distortion knob that can be dialed in. So, it would have one guitar cable jack for totally clean, and thee knobs for Reverb, Tremolo, and Distortion. I have the 2006 (14-years old technology is great) Peavey Bandit red-stipe solid-state amp that actually does all that, and it only cost me $200.00, and a Randall 100W solid-state head with 4-speaker cab that does all that for $500.00. Also, look at the 2020 Katana Series solid-state amps with the same good features. So, why is Fender charging about $1,000.00 for a solid-state amp that seems to not be as technologically good and cost-effective as other solid-state amps? Besides it does sound good, what do you think?

      I totally agree, I use, among others, a pristine 1995 Peavey Bandit Sliver Stripe I bought for UK£80,-. I simply look at the new Fender gear in amazement at the asking price and how little they offer. And yet produce adverts that portray these items as the saviour of all things good and the well being of mankind.
