I've done speed off and on for the last 21 years and I've never even thought about doing something so braindead. As with most things in life, moderation is the key to not cooking your brain 😂
That was my first thought. Have yet to meet a thief that ever appreciated anything, let alone actually worked to have something nice. They sure work like the devil though, don’t they!
@@paullowell3342 So, I used to work at a pawnshop, and we were instructed to immediately reject taking in anything that had been altered, repainted and/or had illegible serial numbers. I see your point though, some folks are just weird and they do weird stuff. 🤷🏻♂️
This one was actually painful to watch. This is what happens when you run out of your OCD meds, you find an old Dremel tool, you have no common sense, only have bad planning and far too much time on your hands in an extremely dreadful combination. Or... he did mescaline and had a bad trip. Either way, not artful. If he were a surgeon, he'd get sued for malpractice. First: Do No Harm!
The gap between neck and body can be filled with epoxy. Is very strong and easy to work, will add all the strenght to that critical area, and you can add black ink or anything to put color there too. The same with the carved headstock, and the part missing around the 3 way switch, clear or black epoxy over it to give more strenght, mantain the shape and complete the missing areas.
I think the clear plastic thing at 4:30 could be an attempt at making a leg rest for holding the guitar in a classical guitar pose. If so it's going to be awkward tho cause it's not angled right for it which might be why they gave up on it and didn't drill an attachment point for it after they tested it with the clamp.
Hate it. But each to their own, and guitars from the last decade or so are not gonna end up as vintage in the same way as those from the 50s, 60s, 70s and sometimes 80s did. There are too many of them and they are too consistent. Which means I'm completely sanguine about a project like this, it's not 'damaging' anything, really.
The headstock looks like Eddy Munster , for some reason I just DO NOT like the transformation , ugh ! ...My brother just got a new Les Paul , I think I will surprise him by doing the same thing to his ! MERRY CHRISTMAS BROTHER ! Thanks Trog !
The first thing I thought when I saw it was how much work had to be done. (But as a luthier, I would). And really, not badly done either, whether you like the styling or not. The fact that he didn't treat a production guitar as some kind of hallowed work of art, never to be touched is nice. It's an experiment that I personally would probably not do because of the expense and time involved, but also he already did it so that now I don't have to.
Dude, you should buy it, just to document it it. I'm certain you'd be able to get out of it what you put in. It'd be fun to se it right up close in video.
It’s still my dream to own that hollowed-out Goldtop (52, 53, I forgot). You all know the one I mean. The one with the plywood screwed on the back. I love it. I don’t even know why but she’s my Excalibur 😂
Wild! I like the overall idea, but I would lay it out a little different. It looks like he kinda made it up as he went, which is fun, but I would've figured this out in CAD first. So I could do all of the styling without crossing the bridge of no return.
I can best describe the face I'm making as the same one I made right after seeing the pole strike moment in Hereditary. If you've seen that movie, you know what I mean.
there was one Les Paul in the 70s that was a blonde with a maple neck. I had the option to buy a used one for $650 from Sam Ash decades ago but went with the white custom LP for 1400 (or maybe 1600) instead. I wish I picked it up.
I've seen dudes do this before. It starts small and never ends. I have two junky Mustangs I used for parts. I started with esthetics Barbie head dials, then hollowed out some dice for the same thing. I came across a box full of vintage soup can labels, so I had to use those. Once you start what I call a (Balsa Cruiser), it's hard to stop. I have a Scooby Doo lid from a lunchbox as my pick guard and a guitar stand made from crutches. The dude that made this was a sick, sick man.
People care too much about what others do to their own property. A guitar is a tool. You buy it, you get to do what you want with it. A Les Paul isn't particularly rare, and in the end it's just a piece of wood. I don't align 100% with the vision of this project, but it's more interesting than just another case queen gibson.
I don’t hate all of the modifications, the exposed maple in the middle of the headstock and the Swiss cheese cutouts were interesting. I think they just went WAY too far, the jagged sharp cutaways clash with everything else. If this was a guitar that had water damage or had been smashed, I would understand these extreme mods, but doing it on a perfectly good guitar… to each their own I suppose lol
I thought that was an ant on the headstock. I was going to ask if it came with it. I didn't want to accidentally burn it along with the guitar on its way back to HELL!
It probably looked a lot different on LSD, to play Devil’s advocate. It’s just one of those cases where the wallpaper in the bathroom lost all its magic overnight!
Went a bit to far but he was onto something, I really don't understand people bashing new ideas because the outdated 70yo design is so pure or something, I'd grab this over any other big brand guitar
i'm not a luthier , can't comment on whether any of these mods would improve the weight , feel , sounds , playability etc of the guitar i just think it looks like a piece of swiss cheese that the mice have been at . i suspect it was a nice guitar and now has 1/10th of it's resale value . i own about 8 guitars even though i really play bass and i wouldn';t do this to any of them :)
Oh yah we can knock this for sure. This poor, sad mangled 2015 LP. Some sculpting ideas might have been ok in moderation, the rounded maple on mahogany transitions for example. But really, why not go this extreme on an Epiphone instead.
The meth Paul
That’s probably true 😂
That makes sense
and robo tuners to boot!!!! possible acid trip..😄

I think it's horrible. Just my opinion.
It's pretty bad. These are mods that should have been done on a cheap copycat "Les Paul".
Agreed, what a shame
Actually looks cool
Your opinion is 100% correct.
Your opinion is a fact.
OMG! If he wanted to destroy a guitar, he could have gotten a DIY Kit from Amazon! That is atrocious!
That looks like a wife won the guitar in the divorce and 2 weeks later gave it back to him looking like that.
🤣 That is too funny!
Firewood with strings, IMO.
That's Gibsons in general.

No. This is a new basket case

Same, this is definitely a repeat.
The high e string seems to be bottom wrapped or through the tailpiece the proper way.
thought I was the only one who noticed that. seems pretty odd
The ADHD noob who made it has not encountered the term "Break Angle" evidently
“Speed holes.” They help you play faster.
the faster the better the player is a beginner's opinion anyway.

they made it look worse imo
guitar has syphilis
I just watched this the other day. Definitely a repeat episode, gotta get that christmas break in somehow!
Yuk, hate the Frankin-Paul It's a travesty.
That guitar has been featured before! Might be a copy cat guitar!

Or he could just throw it away and salvage the hardware
1st guitar is a negative for me.
Considering the amount of time and effort that went into most of its transformation, it's a shame about the neck heel.
Less Paul and now the Lesser Paul......
weight relief: meth edition
Question? Is he trying to sell it for that amount, or is he offering it for someone to get it out of his house???🤢
All sorts of funny stuff to say here, but the reality is, this makes me sad.
Why? Cus it’s not the same as all the other Gibson in the world?
Gibsons are the most generic and boring guitars out there. This is an upgrade.

I might be taking crazy pills here. I remember you covering this guitar previously....
Holes will help it it catch fire more readily, but interfere with the obvious intended function: boat paddle......
It looks like zero break angle on that bridge. An easy “pass”
I actually really love crazy mods like this, but this body mod is a big trypophobia issue. Lol
Less Les Paul.
lol
Oh boy what a mess. Did you notice the string spacing is way too narrow? Weird 😵💫

I'm totally using that as my reason for selling anything ever again!
the exposed 9v battery is rather ugly even given the environment. and I don't think they are large enough to use to change the battery.
I feel like this would have been a center piece in Frank Zappa’s stable. Also I thumbs up clicked at 667 the neighbor of the beast!
In the 4 knobs configuration the mini switch is hiding in the hole between the knobs
The black paint on what's left of the neck heel is original and shows it was a LPM 2015 in Vintage Sunburst.
