Out Here On My Own has to be one of the best covers I've heard from any artist. It's criminal we never heard it before this release. I think it's my favorite cover of her career now.

All I Live For should replace Just To Hold You Once Again on the Music Box album. JTHYOA is very forgetable and cheesy, and the album would have another joyfull bop instead of just having another ballad that adds nothing to it.

My favorites are 'All I live for' and 'Slipping Away'. I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who thinks Music Box has many forgettable songs. 🤭

I mostly agree with the review. "Close My Eyes (Acoustic)" is also my least favorite (it should've been replaced by "There for Me" instead since we talk about "The Rarities" going hand-in-hand with the memoir, because TFM is a song about faith or fans, which were her sources of strength to go on in her life, which has been a resounding theme in the book as well). But I would've given "One Night" a little higher score (like a 9).
Man, I said the same thing. I was a little disappointed that There For Me wasn't included. That song is a masterpiece.

Okay, here's my review...
Here We Go Around Again- 8/10. I like the upbeat vibe, especially with the meaning of the song. She's not letting a failing love bring her down. I think it should've replaced Prisoner on the debut album. That's the only one I don't love and this one is slightly more timeless lol.
Can You Hear Me- 9.5/10. I don't get why people don't really like this one. I think it's got really raw emotion and does fit in well with Emotions' Ballads, which I personally love. I love the end of the pre-chorus parts (As I calllllll). I think it could've fit in with Emotions well, specifically if it replaced So Blessed or Till the end of Time.
Do You Think of Me- 10/10. I love this one! It's so haunting and mystical. The sound isn't too terribly 90s so it is timeless, especially to us lambs. The meaning is so relatable to a lot of us too! I know this is a B-side to Dreamlover but it could've easily replaced All I've Ever Wanted on the final Music Box album.
Everything Fades Away-9/10. I really do enjoy this one as well, it has a somber, sad tone which seems genuine (that might of had something to do with why Tommy didn't allow it.) It is also a B-side and the rest of the Music Box album is great so i'm not sure what it could replace, maybeeee Just To Hold You Once Again.
All I Live For- 8/10. It's a good song but it's very 90s and has sadly fallen out. The song itself is good but I don't think it has the capacity to replace any Music Box songs. Maybe if I was from the 90s I would feel different.
One Night-9/10. This song is very full circle and complete. I really enjoy it and if you really think about it, you can tell JD was a part of it lol. I think this should've been on the daydream album, replacing When I Saw You, most definitely.
Slipping Away- 9/10. Die hard fans already knew this one and we finally got justice! I've always liked this song but I forgot about it until The Rarities came out. It's so raw and true (again, possibly the reason why it didn't make the album). This undoubtedly should've been on the Butterfly album, most likely replacing Fourth of July, which is very repetitive and and boring.
Out Here on My Own- 10/10. I have no clue why this isn't on the Glitter soundtrack. There were also plenty of areas in the movie to put it on for. I'm glad we got it on here because this song is too good to waste. She also must've already gotten permission from the original writers, so why not go along with it.
Loverboy (Firecracker)- 8/10. This is a great song but I don't think it's superior to the version that made the album. I like them both equally, including the remix too. This one may have caused the song to go number 1 because it is more commercial , like you said but in terms of the actual song, they're pretty equal to me.
I Pray- 7/10. This was a great thing for Mariah to do but talking about the song itself, it's not my favorite. I think it resembles There's Got to be a Way and it wasn't in style at the time, or now.
Cool on You- 8.5/10. This is a different, fun song and I like it. It's definitely not what people would think of when they hear Mariah Carey. This one I feel was more for fun and i'm not super surprised it didn't end up on E=MC2.
Mesmerized-6.5/10. This one is the one that got lost in the shadows on this album. It's nothing special to me and I don't really like her tone in it. I don't think it should've replaced anything on Me, I am Mariah (which some songs on there could use replacing). I don't love this one.
Lullaby of Birdland- 8/10. This one is pretty special to Mariah, I know from reading about this in her book. I think it was a smart move putting this live performance on the album, especially because it was talked about in the book. I love her approach on the song and think it's beautiful.
Save the Day-9.5/10. This one, as we all know, is very fitting for these times. I love that she brought it out of the shadows of 2011 and made it a 2020 bop. It's still very up with the times and I love playing this around my house, it reminds me that we truly all are in this together, even the queen.
Close My Eyes (Acoustic)- 7/10. I do hear and feel the emotion in the song, which I love, given that she wrote it 20-23 years ago. I don't like her tone in it though, as you said. I know her voice has changed but the Butterfly version is much better.
Her Diana Ross influence on haunting vocals is accurate ngl haha especially on Do You Think of Me and Can You Hear Me. I like Diana Ross probably that's why I like Can You Hear Me cuz it has so much emotion in it. But I do agree that Can You Hear Me seemed slightly pushy
I still actually want 'Melt away' to be here. I won't include Everything fades away, slipping away, do you think of me, cause they're like S-tier. So, for me I really like "Save the day" , I remember playing it at least 10 times per day for a month, then maybe All I live for and Lullaby of Birdland because it's also such a gem 💎.

In my opinion the only good thing about save the day is the message. The rest of the song is a 2/10. The acoustic version of close my eyes ruins it. I give that one a 1/10 and Can You Hear Me is a treat for us OG fans. That's a 10/10 for me.

You could’ve been subjective without coming for Emotions and Music Box because you’re biased towards dance songs. In my opinion, those are Mimi’s best albums. Few of her albums since then-Charmbracelet and TEOM being the only ones-live up to Emotions or Music Box.
Music box was kinda forgettable def her most mellow 90s album
