Anakin is my favorite character as well and I feel as Lee does. I would love to see Kylo fighting against the Empire with his own troopers. Darth Vader's own Grandson on the right side doing the right thing for the Galaxy. The Skywalker Families hero's journey coming full circle. I really hope we get to see something happen like that. :)
Kylo and Rey are the Chosen Ones who destroy the Stih (Palps) and bring Balance to the Force. (And live somewhere happily ever after) Great your back. Reylo is on the rise and I love it. Also the Special Look Trailer and the interviews are very promising, Can't wait to see the movie. 👍🏻😍
Ben Solo’s redemption being such an important piece is so satisfying! Really looking forward to Charles Soule’s The Rise of Kylo Ren. I read a Twitter thread from someone who had a conversation with Soule where he said he was chosen for this project because of his work on Darth Vader story in comics. And he also talked about wanting people to feel empathy for Kylo Ren/Ben Solo; that his story of becoming Kylo is sad. Not the exact words, but a similar vibe.
My key points: 1] I think the Dark Rey moment could be her, facing her "shadow" like Yoda did in the TV series (can't remember which one). 2] The idea of Palpatine's laugh being in the first teaser, and then Vader's breathing in this new one...it practically screams that Rey is related to the emperor (which makes her a princess). It's the conflict between Anakin and his abusive former mentor, being resolved by their grandchildren. It's poetic, and we all know how much the powers that be with "Star Wars" love poetry. 3] I'd love it if Anakin's Force-ghost appeared to Kylo, and his first words were something funny, like, "You got my hair genes."

I love how, when Kylo is looking at Darth Vader's mask, he's looking down at it, like he's risen above Vader and seeing that symbol from a higher place.
I am so amazed on how so much has been presented and revealed within these last couple of days but what I'm even more amazed by believe it or not is how in these last few days so many of our beautiful allies in this part of the Star Wars community a lot of videos popping up between Wit and Folly, Vincent Vendemption Girls with Sabers and even you and couple of others, it's been wonderful and endlessly entertaining and it just makes me so happy on how so much of what has come out during D23 has made us come together and it's exactly the way we all should be as a fandom. Now as for the video itself I must say I thought it was going to be an extension of the 10 second clip that dropped but you know what I think it was a love letter to the saga that didn't have to give too much away but holy smokes and I've been saying this in several comment sections already but oh my god does Dark Rey look H.O.T!!!! No wonder why Kylo wanted her to join him and...the end. ;)
I wonder if TROS will echo Episode 3 with the whole vision idea. Like in Episode 3 Anakin has visions of Padme dying and that drives most of the plot. I'm thinking that Ben and Rey might both have visions foretelling something bad happening to the other and that being what starts their arcs in the final film.

There was a lot of use of red throughout that trailer: C3PO's red eyes, a red laser, capturing the red flag, etc... It opens with the twin suns, one light, one red then ends on a twin lightsaber, two reds. The use of two or pairs seems very deliberate. Ray starts in the trailer white but red appears more and more, she's even shown specifically opening her eyes to a red light saber. Therefore, the double-bladed, red lightsaber is a sign of her bond to Kylo. Who needs wedding rings when we've got lightsabers?
Amazing video! Loved the teaser and the poster! I've been freaking out all week. I believe Dark Rey is a vision. The footage was likely revealed now to cause buzz and bring the fans together to speculate. It's probably too late in the game for her to turn. Some other podcasters have also reported that StarWars.com posted a story about D23 and the Dark Rey scene and that it was originally described as, "the vision of Rey," but it was changed to "the sight of Rey" with a red-bladed lightsaber. If this is true, perhaps Disney felt the original language revealed too much. Maybe it is a vision.

Here's how both Rey and Ben first felt the first time they heard their baby, they both speak to Leia in their heads. Rey: [In her head] Dear Leia,.... Today we saw what the baby looked like, but before that I was so terrified and in many ways I'm still afraid in stepping into this role as a mother and I don't know what to expect all my nerves and anxiety was at an all time high but then when I heard the baby's heart on the scan and I turned around and saw it...my heart broke ... I’ve never seen a living person so beautiful and this person is mine. And then with Ben he had tears in his eyes and he sat by my side and I think it's starting to soften his heart and humanize him, and if I'm correct the Force is telling me it's a girl. Ben: [In his head] Dear Mom, today was the first time that I saw what the baby looked like. It's so beautiful mom. But I have to admit this morning I felt a little different I couldn't help but feel sad knowing that neither of you will be here to see this baby grow up and there are parts of me that still feels responsible for that. But then on the ultrasound I heard the baby's heart and it made me forget how bummed I felt earlier today I still do but after this afternoon I think I can say right now that I can have another reason to be happy and mommy I just want to do a good job and I don't want to mess it up. I'm a little scared and this morning I was very terrified not knowing what to expect but then once I heard the bay and I saw that Rey had tears in her eyes and then I had tears [sniffs] because I have never have seen any living person so beautiful in my life next to Rey and you...just makes me want to forget all about it seeing the look on her face. I bet she wants a girl And...I'm hoping that it's a girl too so that we can have another strong woman in this family and she's as beautiful as her mommy. . Here is a brand new tale: Some months have passed while Rey is pregnant this time today she and Ben find out that they will have a girl. So she’s been right all along. Ben however has quite an obsession about the princesses lately and has some inspiration for a name. Later that night in bed Ben feels Rey’s stomach now that the baby can kick. She is kicking nonstop and Ben has tears in his eyes...Ben: My little girl. (Wipes away his tears) That's my little princess. Rey: At this point I think she's just anxious to come out and I don't blame her. Ben: Rey How would you feel if you wanted to name our child after Disney princess? Rey: it depends on the name for as long as it fits and it’s appropriate. How do you feel about briar Rose? Ben: That would be wonderful but we better make sure we don't have some evil old hag ready to cast a spell. Rey: How about Cinderella? Ben: Hmmm. Well I can carve out some glass slippers from kyber krystals so she can wear them whenever she wants. Then make a big beautiful ball gown by the time she's ready for prom. Rey: What about Belle? Ben: if we do that than I would turn one of our rooms into a library room. Rey: What if we do snow white? Ben: It's more of a nick name but uh I could see her singing to the porgs and other animals especially when she cleans her room. Anything else? Nobody thinks it is just Rey going undercover? Maybe together with Kylo or to get to him. If it is a vision and we only see that lightsaber for 1 min, it would be such a tease.
That's a cool possibility, that said, there's something wrong with her face and expression, as if she's taken by the dark side. Hopefully we'll see more dark Rey than we saw Knights of Ren in TFA.

I think that Rey will be key to saving Ben from the dark side but I think Anakin will play a role as well....Ben has been obsessed with being like Vader so I think it would make perfect sense for Anakin to show himself to Ben and teach him a couple of things. As for dark Rey....I don't think that's happening at all....it's almost certainly just a vision of some sort. There isn't going to be time to do a proper fall and redemption ark in one movie and Disney are cowards so they're not going to let her just fall to the dark side and leave it at that...if they had the guts to do something like that they'd have had her take Kylo's hand at the end of The Last Jedi.
Sorry to burst your bubble but Episode 9 is Rey's Revenge of the Sith. She's the Prequel Anakin of this trilogy. Ben Solo does find redemption because his story arc has been set up as the opposite of Rey's. But don't expect Rey to turn good again.
@@tommyanomaly6193 This isn't the prequel trilogy and Daisy Ridley doesn't have contracts for more movies. This is the END of entire 9 movie ark....there is no way in hell that Disney are doing anything other than a happy ending for all.

In a way the sequel trilogy is a retelling of both of the previous trilogies with Ben playing the role of the original trilogy Anakin and Rey in the role of the prequel Anakin. Both of these characters are a duality that will end up on the opposite sides from where they started. That's the main set up according to Lucasfilm.

Lee Green I know you’re a big Kenobist when it comes to Rey origin, and with the announcement of the Kenobi TV show I was thinking of you as for me it raises the possibility that they will actually go there (since something exciting will obviously have to happen to Obi-Wan to justify a television show, and having a family that he eventually loses it somehow, but which still results in Rey Feels like a more legit possibility). And then they can redo the big Obikin duel in reverse with a happy ending this time! Would love to know what you think. 🤗

Do you think it was a throw away line, or was it an insight into her origins?
I've been looking forward to your video! Thank you! I could see dark Rey being a vision that Kylo has early on and this prompts him to stop Rey from going to the death star wreckage. Perhaps Palpatine is somehow compelling her to go there to manipulate or control her, thus why we see them fighting. I know you said you don't want Rey to be someone Ben/Kylo has to save, but there still needs to be a redemption arc somewhere. Also a couple things to note...Rey's hands and face look older, so it certainly could be a future vision. Also her saber is crackling like Kylos. Not steady. What do you make of that?
Yes. I've seen one comment suggesting that it's Rey's mother. That's a cool idea. The saber crackling I guess is because she'd mimik Kylo's darkness. Plus, it looks and sounds cool!
I think Dark Rey is a vision and may play some part in Kylo realizing this is not something that he wants for her. I didn't take Ridley's comments as necessarily positive for a Ben&Rey endgame, just that they won't end as enemies and Ben will be redeemed.

I believe that Kylo will turn relatively early on (maybe mid-way) because of Rey & then Rey has already saved him. When he’s done so, Palpatine will attempt to turn Rey instead (to actually get to them both). THEN Kylo will save Rey from Palpatine’s grasp & together they will defeat him! 💪🏼 BAM!

Man what a week its been and I've been waiting a video like this from YOU guys geeking out as so many fans have been doing since this "trailer" was released. So from some the points that you all made about this trailer: 1. I do believe the whole Dark Rey thing is a vision because from a SW article that was released after the footage was shown, the articlebroke down what was seen in the trailer in which fans noticed that in the article it mentioned a vision of Rey which was soon changed within hours. Why do you think the change was made. 2. The sequence where Ben is walking and igniting his lightsaber I noticed his fist was not clinched and as we know that is one of his idiosyncrasies to demonstrate he's made or angsty. What do you make of it? 3. What's up with the C3PO red eyes scene? 4. There has been so many D23 interviews that have circulated from the cast and the ones I found more interesting comes from Daisy Ridley, Kelly Marie Tran and JJ Abrams in regards to redemption. Should we guess who are they talking about as it relates to redemption maybe its Palpatine or Hux 🤔😁? 5. Lastly, with the new reading material that will be coming out that will complement TROS do you think they will serve as a prerequisite or foreshadowing what's to come in TROS?

Yay! A new podcast on the trailer! Loved hearing all your thoughts! I too think Dark Rey is a vision possibly of Kylo’s so he realizes that future is not what he truly wants. I’m thinking the scene of Rey and Kylo fighting is part of the Force flash fights we have been hearing about. Daisy Ridley has been dropping all the Reylo hints lately! She mentioned that their Force FaceTime is more immediate. I’m hoping that means they can call each other when they choose. Also I’m wondering if maybe Palpatine created both Anakin and Rey by manipulating the Force. That would be very interesting I think if Rey was another chosen one that was potentially kidnapped and hidden away to be kept from Palpatine, maybe by Zorri Bliss’s character? So maybe Dark Rey was a future for her if she had not been hidden away. I am so excited for Ep IX! I can’t wait!!!!
Any thoughts on why we only see Kylo in a mask in marketing stuff (posters, toys) but all the footage is Adam without the mask? (Not complaing I love seeing him without the mask) Why is he wearing the mask on the poster but obviously isn't wearing it when they are fighting on the wreckage?
moraganmoes they’ll find a way to put the mask in somewhere. They wouldn’t have shown the repairing of it in the last trailer if not. I’m sure we’ll get more of an idea in upcoming trailers. 😁

I know it's not the popular line of thought, but I do think Dark Rey will be an actual thing. Just to be clear though, I don't think she'll be dark like Palpatine and Vader; I don't think she'll be a full-on Sith or outright evil. Rather, I think she'll be dark in the same way as Kylo, in that she'll be conflicted and in pain and turmoil. I think that's what's being communicated so far visually, as her sickly appearance could be an externalization of how something's not right within her, her lightsaber's blades are the same crackling, unstable red as Kylo's blade and even sound the same, as well as how her outfit is very similar to Kylo's. Her appearance seems oddly specific, her lightsaber in particular. That lightsaber seems so distinctly HER. Altogether, it looks too specific for a vision in my opinion. Even as early as Force Awakens, I noticed how Rey does have darker parts of herself and that they actually come out pretty often. Namely, her anger: interestingly, she gets angry more often than any other character in Force Awakens, even if Kylo's tantrums are more iconic. The snow fight in particular where she's stalking him is when I figured she definitely without a doubt had darkness in her. Then Last Jedi brought that closer to the forefront. She still has a huge amount of anger in her when she fights, and an acknowledged affinity for the darkness. Luke outright says she 'went straight to the dark... didn't even try to stop herself.' And call me crazy, but when Luke said that, Rey's face looked puzzled, noncomprehending. As if she didn't understand the difference between light and dark, or rather the significance of it. Even in what little footage there is of Rise of Skywalker so far, it still looks like Rey has this kind of attitude. During the training scene, she looks frustrated, which to me says her training isn't going well. I mean, she does miss the training droid, which seems to be what she was aiming for with that throw. I also noticed how she has a red piece of cloth wrapped around her left hand. I think that means she recently suffered a wound, perhaps from the training droid because I can't see Kylo hurting her. And that may be where her frustration lies: she may feel like she needs to become more powerful, and as we know, the desire for power is one of the paths to the Dark Side. Another part I want to bring up: the Death Star fight. It looks like Rey's the only one actually attacking and going on the offensive, as Kylo looks to only be defending himself, albeit doing a fantastic job at it since he's still managing to push her back even without attacking. So Rey's still attacking first, as she always does. Kylo doesn't want to hurt her, but Rey does want to hurt him. And the last hint from the trailer itself was the music at the tail end, when it's just 'December' on screen. That's Rey's theme played in a minor key, transforming it from something adventurous and hopeful to something really eerie and nerve-wracking. They did something very similar yet opposite for the first trailer by playing Kylo Ren's theme in a major key; it changes from imposing and daunting to triumphant and outright heroic. This fits perfectly with the idea that Rey and Kylo Ren have parallel yet opposing journeys. Since it's obvious that Kylo's going to have a redemption arc, it makes sense to me that Rey could have the opposite and have a descending arc. Even the voices of Luke and Palpatine go with this: both of their statements could apply to either one of them. 'We've passed on all we know. A thousand generations live in you now. But this is your fight.' 'Your journey nears its end.' Just the fact that statements from two opposing figures could apply to either of them connects them even more. The poster gives me some serious Revenge of the Sith vibes, and that got me thinking as to why all the elements present were used. Rey is in the same place as Anakin was, while Kylo is in Obi-Wan's place, even to the point of having the high ground. (HIGH GROUND!) That got me thinking again about the likelihood of Rey having a descending arc. While greatly repressed and much more internalized compared to Anakin's anger, Rey is angry almost as often as he was, if not more so. And again, it looks like Rey's the one attacking, while Kylo's defending. Even looking at the lightning on both sides, the blue lightning of Rey appears to be far more consuming and chaotic, while Kylo's red lightning is much more controlled. I think this could be a visual clue that Palpatine's going to get his claws into her, but will fail to do the same to Kylo. I think that's why Kylo is also literally higher than Rey, because he's going to rise. It's in the title: RISE of SKYWALKER, and he's a Skywalker. And because he rises, that conversely could also mean that Rey falls. After fully digesting the title's meaning and any other possible meanings it could have, I've always thought that Rey would be a more antagonistic figure in this film. With the poster pitting them against each other like that, I think it even more likely that Rey becomes a more antagonistic figure. When she's not fighting or training, I noticed that her attitude in the trailers released so far seems notably less charismatic than in previous films. She has this blank or aloof look that's there even when she's in her Light Side clothes, and it looks way too similar to the blank look that Dark Rey has. Why she has that look I predict is because she's trying to resist something or put on an act to possibly try to fit in with the Resistance, because she could feel left out or lonely or misunderstood. I think that could be one of the problems Rey encounters in this film, that she feels utterly alone and misunderstood. Even if she is surrounded by the Resistance, she'll still feel alone because there's no one there who can truly understand her, and she's pushing away the one person who can. Also possible is that people within the Resistance are afraid of her because of her power. Possibly some great misunderstanding could happen and make her turn away from the Resistance. In other words, the exact same things that led to Ben's own fall to the dark.
One possible event that could start off both Kylo's redemption and Rey's descent into darkness would be the death of Leia. The same traumatic event could lead to two completely opposing reactions from both of them. I think Rey would be consumed with grief since she viewed the Skywalker family as her own, and Leia's death would mean the last member of that family is gone in her eyes. She wouldn't consider Kylo as part of that because at this point I think she's too angry at him still. The fact that she's seemingly ignoring him could also be another path to her descent into darkness: she would be holding onto her hate and the pain he caused her. If anything, I think Rey would oppose Kylo completely, to the point that Finn, Poe, and the rest of the Resistance could accept him before Rey does. And this is typical of redemption arcs. The same thing happened in Avatar with Zuko in Book 3: the one person who was hurt most by him, Katara, was the last holdout to accepting him into the gang for a long time because she held onto that feeling of betrayal so strongly. Remember Katara went extremely dark just before she was able to forgive Zuko and become friends. So the same thing could likely happen here, in that Rey could go very dark before finally forgiving Kylo and fully loving him. I could see Palpatine being there for her in that time after Leia's death. He's a master manipulator, so he will likely easily figure out that Rey values family more than anything and exploit that. If Mary and I are right in that Rey is in fact descended from Palpatine, then that gives Palpatine the perfect bait to entice Rey to his side. He could easily play the grandfather role for her when she has no one else to turn to and reassure her that she still does have family through him, just as he played the father figure to Anakin when he had no one else to turn to and reassure him that he could help save Padme. That makes me believe that Rey could willingly let him in and willingly allow Palpatine to twist her to his will, because she cares so much about family that it blinds the rest of her senses. It sounds callous, but it is a true statement for Rey: she lied to herself for nearly fifteen years about her family even when the signs were obvious that they weren't coming back. She's the Queen of Denial. Whenever someone turns in Star Wars, it's always, ALWAYS, in the last film of the trilogy: Luke crossing the line into darkness and then turning back to the light in Return of the Jedi; Anakin turning back to the light in Return of the Jedi, Anakin turning to the dark in Revenge of the Sith; and most assuredly Ben turning away from the dark in Rise of Skywalker. Given the parallel yet opposing journeys of Kylo and Rey - their intertwined destiny - it's entirely likely a turn will happen for Rey as well. Turns in Star Wars do typically happen pretty quickly, but that's the status quo in this franchise. It actually is normal to have a quick turn in Star Wars. So a quick turn for Rey is entirely possible going off previous history. There are only three instances that I'm aware of out of all Star Wars trailers that show a part of a vision: one of the Force Awakens teasers plus again in the official trailer shows Luke placing his hand on R2; the Force Awakens official trailer showed that scene with Kylo Ren and the rest of the Knights of Ren; and the Last Jedi official trailer showed Luke digging himself out of the collapsed hut and watching his temple burn. The one thing all of these have in common is that these are all events that actually happen. Even the one with Kylo and the Knights is very likely to come true in some way, shape, or form. The thing about visions in Star Wars is that they always end up coming true in one way or another. Both of Anakin's visions come true in Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith. Rey's vision in Force Awakens has many events that have already happened and future events that will happen, like the snow fight. Even Luke's vision on Dagobah ended up coming true to a degree; he did become like Darth Vader in the throne room when he cut off Vader's hand, the exact same thing Vader had done to him on Bespin. Hell, even the visions that Rey and Kylo had after touching hands ended up coming true in their own way. So even if Dark Rey is a vision, then that doesn't mean Rey won't turn out like that going off of how other visions played out. So even if this is just a vision, it's likely to end up real in some way anyway due to how visions play out in Star Wars. One thing that struck me regarding the general reaction to the Dark Rey tease is that it feels so incredibly similar to the general reaction to the hand scene from the Last Jedi official trailer. Nobody believed that would happen in the movie, and yet it did: Kylo did actually extend his hand to Rey. Of course, you girls predicted it would happen, because you used logical deduction and knowledge of storytelling. I think the same thing applies here: with logical deduction and knowledge of storytelling, it's possible to come up with a realistic story that would see Dark Rey actually happen. Now I think Rey going dark could actually be a good thing for her character and journey, because she'll effectively be retracing the same steps that Kylo had previously taken. Again, if Mary and I are right about Rey being descended from Palpatine, then she'll likely find herself in the same position as Kylo had been in when he killed Han: she'll likely have to kill someone of her own blood as well, and it's going to inevitably tear her apart just like Kylo was torn apart. And that, I think, could be the experience she needs to be able to fully forgive Kylo for everything and understand him completely. There's no better way to understand someone than to step into their shoes, and if Rey goes dark, then that's exactly what she's going to do: she'll be stepping into Kylo Ren's shoes. Rey going dark could also be good for Kylo as well, as he'll be in the same position that Rey was in when she went to the Supremacy; he'll be able to understand the pain and betrayal she felt when he turned away from her back then, because she'll be turning away from him this time. Ultimately, they'll both have a greater understanding of one another by the end of everything. It would just make Reylo even more beautiful than it already is. I think it's possible that Kylo will end his journey closer to the light than ever, and that, inversely, Rey will end her journey closer to the dark than ever. It's a possibility to me that Rey could end her journey torn apart because she was the one to kill Palpatine, her own blood, but it'll still be a hopeful and satisfying end because by that time Ben would've redeemed himself and become a positive influence on Rey for that recovery. His compassion and love for her would be in full bloom. He could successfully help her through that aftermath because he's been there before. He understands. Again, it goes back to how they'll gain an even deeper understanding of one another by the end, and it'll make Reylo even more beautiful than it already is. Can I just say how much I love Mary now? She's the only one I've seen who is as enthusiastic about Rey Palpatine as I am. Literally, from the first trailer, we've had the exact same thoughts. But I digress, I love ALL you girls! I apologize for posting the longest comment ever, but I'm just too excited to shut up lol. Please let it be December already!

I love the idea of Kylo/Ben as Anakin's heir, not Darth Vader's heir. Since I've started listening to you ladies and all your theories, I've felt that Kylo needs to not only redeem himself but also Anakin. But not only that, he also needs be the leader/person he's supposed to be out from the manipulation of Snoke and the Emperor. He needs to realize who he wants to be and fight for it.
Thanks for posting all these amazing videos 😊 Also I wanted to point out some stuff I find a little weird in the trailers (and I'm sorry but it's a very long post 😁): - In the first trailer when Rey faces the TIE, Rey doesn't seems angry or in the middle of a fight, rather concentrating and kind of feeling the force, could she be training? And if so with Kylo/Ben (because I'm pretty sure these are his gloves)? I also must add that the TIE is even not shooting at her, isn't that really curious? - In all the trailers, when we see Kylo/Ben, he never wears his helmet, and even if it's shown being repaired, we never see it with Kylo involved, it seems strange to me, and it kept me thinking that may be he will "return" as Ben in the beginning of the movie, that he will not pursue his path in the first order? Because he already kind of dive in the dark force at the end of TLJ, he went on a rage fight with everything that hurted him (the resistance, the Falcon, Luke) but he failed like big time (the resistance survived, the falcon survived, well Luke did died but not at his hands) and may be this is what he needed, to let go of all the rage, that obviously left him empty and sad (omg that last force bound with Rey, wasn't he looking like a puppy that did a bad thing ?). And as he's not fully Kylo anymore, that would explain why there's no scene with him and his helmet anymore? Also I had that crazy theory that may be Kylo leaves the First order before TROS, and that Hux may be rebuild the helmet to make everyone believe that he is still with them and to maintain order and supremacy in the galaxy? -Also even in the scene with Vader's helmet he doesn't wear it too as oppposed to the one in TFA, could it be, as you said, because he is changing his mind and doesn't want to be Vador grandson anymore? - Dark Rey really looks unreal to me in that trailer, it's even like it is her face added up on someone else's, like a not so great editing....? It could be a vision, but may be there is even someting more about it, like, crazy theory, someone is bearing her face as an hologram perhaps? I kinda hope so cuz I'm not a fan of Rey really going dark, as I feel she is not scared of going dark at all, she even embrace it sometimes (and it was interesting that it scared Luke, but not her, kind of she knows darkness is a part of life, so why be scared of it) without falling into it, and it would kind of break her character arc for me... Even if I would love that she learns how to use both dark and light force 😉 And also, kind of spoiler may be, so I will put it in a commentary below:

We thought it was a training scene, but some leaks say they are actually fighting. We surely hope it isn't the case because it's completely stupid... Not sure if someone else will impersonate Kylo. His helmet with the cracks is very symbolic, even if he wears it only for one second in the movie, it's going to be his.

While Kylo is the New Vader, I think a good case can be made that Rey is the New Anakin, so having her briefly fall to the dark side (and having the Anakin Obi-Wan duel 2.0) but with a happy ending would be cool.
Give me a prediction: Will there be a kiss in Episode 9? In the original trilogy we had the Han & Leia kiss, in the prequels Anakin was kissing Padme. In the sequels we so far had Finn & Rose but that does not count in my opinion since they are just side characters. So will there be a kiss between Rey & Kylo?
My prediction is that "Dark Side" Rey is real and not a vision...but is a different Rey. My theory is that Rey is a clone/creation of Palpatine, and that the cave scene in TLJ was foreshadowing that she is a clone. The Dark Side Rey is Rey...but is a different Rey... My Reylo twist on this is that when Dark Side Rey appears, Kylo will be tempted team up with her, but will instead help the Rey we know fight the Dark Side clone (because he loves her of course!). What I don't like is the idea that Palpatine possesses her. I'll hold off on my criticisms of Rey as a character, but with that said I don't think any loss of agency would be good for her. She already has not been severely challenged by the consequences of her actions or decisions, so the idea of a fall to the dark side *happening to her* is not palatable and will not endear her to fans upset with how she has been handled. I don't want her greatest challenge to be one of being a victim.
@Gregory B, I agree 100% with what you said about Rey needing agency. Re: dark vs light clone Rey, I think this is a fascinating theory, and not one I'd heard before when you first posted it. In general I don't like the idea of Rey being a clone (I think you mentioned you don't, either) but if she has to be one I think this would be a brilliant way to execute that plot device. Btw I don't know if you heard, but apparently LF self-leaked (by accident) that evil Rey was a vision. xD
Did anyone else notice something odd about Dark Rey's lightsaber? It appears as unstable and crackling as Kylo's unstable lightsaber that had to have side vents to stabilize it. Could Dark Rey had to have a double-bladed saber to stabilize the single blade?
Episode 9 is Rey's Episode 3. Rey and Ben have been on opposite story arcs since the beginning. I just don't see these two ending up together. Assuming a romance does exist it will be a tragic romance.
You're getting what you wanted because George Lucas was called upon to tie all the movies together. don't know if he will get a credit, but JJ said they had to ask him for help because they were stuck and couldn't bring the story together for an ending of the series. thanks George.
I think they followed George's outline more closely in the final chapter. They doctored the script of Force Awakens to make it look more like a New Hope.

i think rey and kylo r forever linked..destined 2 b 1 eternally. a thought i had a while back, kylo, kills rey by mistake, he's devastated, goes out on a suicidal mission inspired by a final wish from rey.. saves the resistance/galaxy but doesn't really care. he succumbs and joins rey, finally, redeemed, as a force ghost, for all time. they both become 1 together with the force. Ridley said 9 will be dark, soo...
If you look at the color, let's say with a sampler in photoshop and then check the color it's bluish purple. It's possible that the new one is even more purple because people didn't get the purpleness in the first version.

Regarding Leia's death. I think she'll go peacefully. Like Yoda in Return of the Jedi. In the April teaser, we see Leia embracing a crying Rey. Possibly, Leia is telling her she's dying.
Some people are saying that the voice telling Rey to kill Kylo in TFA was Palpy. I’m 28 min in, so I don’t know if you guys will get to this, but I’d love to hear your take on the theory.
I don’t think the footage that’s shown in the trailer of Dark Rey is actually in the film because if you look at it, it just looks kind of clunky and CGI’d. I reckon it’s something they’ve put together to put in the trailer to show there’s something like that in the film but if they showed the actual footage it would show too much about why she’s dressed that way. My theory is that she dresses like that to make Palpatine THINK she’s turned to the dark side so it stops him from JUST trying to possess Kylo. That way when they fight him which I think they will do together Palpatine can switch from either body which creates an interesting dynamic for the final fight scene where we see ‘siths’ fighting ‘siths’ which is something we haven’t seen before. Cause let’s face it, it takes a sith to kill a sith. We’ve just only seen it done in the past in ‘sneaky’ ways. We’ve never seen them fight. Which would be cool to see.

I think this time they don't want any misleading marketing, because it seriously backfired in TFA with all the Reylo hate (since people came out of the movie thinking Rey was Luke's daughter and Finn's love interest). There were rumors about Kylo walking away from his tie fighter that Rey wrecks. That said, there's still time to fix it if the original idea was her going at him in a backflip.
Personally I didn't find anything misleading about the advertisement of Force Awakens, simply because I'm one of the few who doesn't read much in a trailer...the only thing 'misleading' about the TFA marketing was how Kylo Ren was introduced with his lightsaber with a cross guard, something that hadn't been seen before in Star Wars. That got people hyped more than anything, but that scene was not shown in the movie [hell even I looked for it] so there was disappointment with that. Sooo, naturally, the hardcores *assumed* Kylo was in par with Darth Vader...imagine how they felt when they got a spoiled brat instead, now THAT caused backlash, the so-called villain was a frustrated man-child. So, when a 1/3 of the fandom started talking about how they '''could see the connection between Rey & Kylo'' in TFA, most people were like '''What?!?'', thus *the Reylo Wars* began.... ...and you have a few out there who are STILL hanging onto their annoyance by a thread even tho' a few years have gone by, people who are literally being messy *on purpose* . Also if you think about it, JJ had no intention of Kylo Ren being the ''Big Bad'', I never had that impression from him, now Hux & Snoke were a different story. So it truly amazes me how folks completely didn't get that by the time Last Jedi was out. As for Rey being Finn's love interest, because Daisy & John had such good chemistry, I could see the possibility when I first saw the Force Awakens, I wouldn't have been opposed to it, other than that JJ did a good job with the movie, it *felt* like a Star Wars movie.
@@TheColorOfCaramel a lot of people thought Finn would be force-sensitive and also the lead. It's well-documented in the pre-TFA speculation. They had Finn with the lightsaber and held back toys with Rey with the lightsaber because they wanted it to be a surprise. Finn as a jedi was a red herring, thus misleading. Many people weren't misled, of course, but the marketing was meant to make people think the movie would go one way, when it went another. They also had some photo shoots with Daisy and John that seemed romantic. I think they also wanted to surprise people with the real romantic arc. Instead, they caused division in the fandom and people even now thinking the couple is Rey and Finn.

Cool meta on the midpoint. I personally think that the real midpoint in TFA should be the interrogation scene, because that's when tables are turned and preconceptions thrown upside down. The movie also feels bloated in the beginning (most people skip parts when they watch it) and short in the end. But that's a discussion for another time.

Yes, they can go the possessed route, but then they take away Kylo's agency and the significance of the gesture. I think his motivations will need to be well explained and Kylo also needs to show that he's changed, and make up for that. We have an episode on that, called "How will Kylo redeem himself?", and we comment on the fact that they can't simply brush that aside.

Thank you for your reply) I also think that the plot will go differently. Most likely Palpatine's ghost will tell Kylo that Darth Vader got stronger after he lost his love one (Padme). Thats why Palpatine will highly recommend Kylo to kill Rey to become stronger too. I think Kylo killed Solo exactly because of that- he was brainwashed by Palpatine's formula of power : kill who you love -->get stronger.

There is a movie called A Knight's Tale. About a peasant who becomes a knight. A man who "changed his stars" Jedi are more wide reaching than Palpatine. The Force is older than Palpatine.
Yeah, she might be a nobody, for sure. That said, so many people wanted her to be related to a legacy character, it wouldn't be a stretch to think that they'll do that. It doesn't mean they will, and each person has their own ideas about what's more interesting.
I agree with you and I have said this from day one. It took me halfway through TFA to understand that this story is about Kylo/Ben. Rey has been the red herring all along. She matters, but only for Kylo's/Ben's arc.
Anakin is my favorite character as well and I feel as Lee does. I would love to see Kylo fighting against the Empire with his own troopers. Darth Vader's own Grandson on the right side doing the right thing for the Galaxy. The Skywalker Families hero's journey coming full circle. I really hope we get to see something happen like that. :)

Ben Solo’s redemption being such an important piece is so satisfying! Really looking forward to Charles Soule’s The Rise of Kylo Ren. I read a Twitter thread from someone who had a conversation with Soule where he said he was chosen for this project because of his work on Darth Vader story in comics. And he also talked about wanting people to feel empathy for Kylo Ren/Ben Solo; that his story of becoming Kylo is sad. Not the exact words, but a similar vibe.

My key points:
1] I think the Dark Rey moment could be her, facing her "shadow" like Yoda did in the TV series (can't remember which one).
2] The idea of Palpatine's laugh being in the first teaser, and then Vader's breathing in this new one...it practically screams that Rey is related to the emperor (which makes her a princess). It's the conflict between Anakin and his abusive former mentor, being resolved by their grandchildren. It's poetic, and we all know how much the powers that be with "Star Wars" love poetry.
3] I'd love it if Anakin's Force-ghost appeared to Kylo, and his first words were something funny, like, "You got my hair genes."

I am so amazed on how so much has been presented and revealed within these last couple of days but what I'm even more amazed by believe it or not is how in these last few days so many of our beautiful allies in this part of the Star Wars community a lot of videos popping up between Wit and Folly, Vincent Vendemption Girls with Sabers and even you and couple of others, it's been wonderful and endlessly entertaining and it just makes me so happy on how so much of what has come out during D23 has made us come together and it's exactly the way we all should be as a fandom. There was a lot of use of red throughout that trailer: C3PO's red eyes, a red laser, capturing the red flag, etc... It opens with the twin suns, one light, one red then ends on a twin lightsaber, two reds. The use of two or pairs seems very deliberate. Ray starts in the trailer white but red appears more and more, she's even shown specifically opening her eyes to a red light saber. Therefore, the double-bladed, red lightsaber is a sign of her bond to Kylo. Who needs wedding rings when we've got lightsabers?

Amazing video! Loved the teaser and the poster! I've been freaking out all week. I believe Dark Rey is a vision. The footage was likely revealed now to cause buzz and bring the fans together to speculate. It's probably too late in the game for her to turn. Some other podcasters have also reported that StarWars.com posted a story about D23 and the Dark Rey scene and that it was originally described as, "the vision of Rey," but it was changed to "the sight of Rey" with a red-bladed lightsaber. If this is true, perhaps Disney felt the original language revealed too much. Maybe it is a vision.

Here's how both Rey and Ben first felt the first time they heard their baby, they both speak to Leia in their heads.
Rey: [In her head] Dear Leia,.... Today we saw what the baby looked like, but before that I was so terrified and in many ways I'm still afraid in stepping into this role as a mother and I don't know what to expect all my nerves and anxiety was at an all time high but then when I heard the baby's heart on the scan and I turned around and saw it...my heart broke ... I’ve never seen a living person so beautiful and this person is mine. And then with Ben he had tears in his eyes and he sat by my side and I think it's starting to soften his heart and humanize him, and if I'm correct the Force is telling me it's a girl.
Ben: [In his head] Dear Mom, today was the first time that I saw what the baby looked like. It's so beautiful mom. But I have to admit this morning I felt a little different I couldn't help but feel sad knowing that neither of you will be here to see this baby grow up and there are parts of me that still feels responsible for that. But then on the ultrasound I heard the baby's heart and it made me forget how bummed I felt earlier today I still do but after this afternoon I think I can say right now that I can have another reason to be happy and mommy I just want to do a good job and I don't want to mess it up. I'm a little scared and this morning I was very terrified not knowing what to expect but then once I heard the bay and I saw that Rey had tears in her eyes and then I had tears [sniffs] because I have never have seen any living person so beautiful in my life next to Rey and you...just makes me want to forget all about it seeing the look on her face. I bet she wants a girl And...I'm hoping that it's a girl too so that we can have another strong woman in this family and she's as beautiful as her mommy. . Meanwhile the baby inside Rey she says..."I'm right here mommy...daddy. I hope I can see you very soon and be your little girl and princess.

Ben however has quite an obsession about the princesses lately and has some inspiration for a name. Later that night in bed Ben feels Rey’s stomach now that the baby can kick. She is kicking nonstop and Ben has tears in his eyes...Ben: My little girl. (Wipes away his tears) That's my little princess. Rey: At this point I think she's just anxious to come out and I don't blame her. Ben: Rey How would you feel if you wanted to name our child after Disney princess? Rey: it depends on the name for as long as it fits and it’s appropriate. How do you feel about briar Rose? Ben: That would be wonderful but we better make sure we don't have some evil old hag ready to cast a spell. Rey: How about Cinderella? Ben: Hmmm. Well I can carve out some glass slippers from kyber krystals so she can wear them whenever she wants. Then make a big beautiful ball gown by the time she's ready for prom. Rey: What about Belle? Ben: if we do that than I would turn one of our rooms into a library room. Rey: What if we do snow white? Ben: It's more of a nick name but uh I could see her singing to the porgs and other animals especially when she cleans her room. Anything else? That's a cool possibility, that said, there's something wrong with her face and expression, as if she's taken by the dark side. Hopefully we'll see more dark Rey than we saw Knights of Ren in TFA.

I think that Rey will be key to saving Ben from the dark side but I think Anakin will play a role as well....Ben has been obsessed with being like Vader so I think it would make perfect sense for Anakin to show himself to Ben and teach him a couple of things. As for dark Rey....I don't think that's happening at all....it's almost certainly just a vision of some sort. There isn't going to be time to do a proper fall and redemption ark in one movie and Disney are cowards so they're not going to let her just fall to the dark side and leave it at that...if they had the guts to do something like that they'd have had her take Kylo's hand at the end of The Last Jedi.

Sorry to burst your bubble but Episode 9 is Rey's Revenge of the Sith. She's the Prequel Anakin of this trilogy. Ben Solo does find redemption because his story arc has been set up as the opposite of Rey's. But don't expect Rey to turn good again.

In a way the sequel trilogy is a retelling of both of the previous trilogies with Ben playing the role of the original trilogy Anakin and Rey in the role of the prequel Anakin. Both of these characters are a duality that will end up on the opposite sides from where they started. That's the main set up according to Lucasfilm.

Lee Green I know you’re a big Kenobist when it comes to Rey origin, and with the announcement of the Kenobi TV show I was thinking of you as for me it raises the possibility that they will actually go there (since something exciting will obviously have to happen to Obi-Wan to justify a television show, and having a family that he eventually loses it somehow, but which still results in Rey Feels like a more legit possibility). And then they can redo the big Obikin duel in reverse with a happy ending this time!

Do you think it was a throw away line, or was it an insight into her origins?
We don't know because it's different writers, right? But darkness was hinted in TFA and again in TLJ. We'll see.

I've been looking forward to your video! Thank you! I could see dark Rey being a vision that Kylo has early on and this prompts him to stop Rey from going to the death star wreckage. Perhaps Palpatine is somehow compelling her to go there to manipulate or control her, thus why we see them fighting. I know you said you don't want Rey to be someone Ben/Kylo has to save, but there still needs to be a redemption arc somewhere. Also a couple things to note...Rey's hands and face look older, so it certainly could be a future vision. Also her saber is crackling like Kylos. Not steady. What do you make of that?
Yes. I've seen one comment suggesting that it's Rey's mother. That's a cool idea. The saber crackling I guess is because she'd mimik Kylo's darkness. Plus, it looks and sounds cool!
I think Dark Rey is a vision and may play some part in Kylo realizing this is not something that he wants for her. I didn't take Ridley's comments as necessarily positive for a Ben&Rey endgame, just that they won't end as enemies and Ben will be redeemed.

I believe that Kylo will turn relatively early on (maybe mid-way) because of Rey & then Rey has already saved him. When he’s done so, Palpatine will attempt to turn Rey instead (to actually get to them both). THEN Kylo will save Rey from Palpatine’s grasp & together they will defeat him! 💪🏼 BAM!

@Lords of the Sith Podcast Well hello guys. Man what a week its been and I've been waiting a video like this from YOU guys geeking out as so many fans have been doing since this "trailer" was released. So from some the points that you all made about this trailer:
1. I do believe the whole Dark Rey thing is a vision because from a SW article that was released after the footage was shown, the articlebroke down what was seen in the trailer in which fans noticed that in the article it mentioned a vision of Rey which was soon changed within hours. Why do you think the change was made.
2. The sequence where Ben is walking and igniting his lightsaber I noticed his fist was not clinched and as we know that is one of his idiosyncrasies to demonstrate he's made or angsty. What do you make of it?
3. What's up with the C3PO red eyes scene?
4. There has been so many D23 interviews that have circulated from the cast and the ones I found more interesting comes from Daisy Ridley, Kelly Marie Tran and JJ Abrams in regards to redemption. Should we guess who are they talking about as it relates to redemption maybe its Palpatine or Hux 🤔😁?
5. Lastly, with the new reading material that will be coming out that will complement TROS do you think they will serve as a prerequisite or foreshadowing what's to come in TROS?

Yay! A new podcast on the trailer! Loved hearing all your thoughts! I too think Dark Rey is a vision possibly of Kylo’s so he realizes that future is not what he truly wants. I’m thinking the scene of Rey and Kylo fighting is part of the Force flash fights we have been hearing about. Daisy Ridley has been dropping all the Reylo hints lately! She mentioned that their Force FaceTime is more immediate. I’m hoping that means they can call each other when they choose. Also I’m wondering if maybe Palpatine created both Anakin and Rey by manipulating the Force. That would be very interesting I think if Rey was another chosen one that was potentially kidnapped and hidden away to be kept from Palpatine, maybe by Zorri Bliss’s character? So maybe Dark Rey was a future for her if she had not been hidden away. I am so excited for Ep IX! I can’t wait!!!!

Any thoughts on why we only see Kylo in a mask in marketing stuff (posters, toys) but all the footage is Adam without the mask? (Not complaing I love seeing him without the mask) Why is he wearing the mask on the poster but obviously isn't wearing it when they are fighting on the wreckage?

I know it's not the popular line of thought, but I do think Dark Rey will be an actual thing. Just to be clear though, I don't think she'll be dark like Palpatine and Vader; I don't think she'll be a full-on Sith or outright evil. Rather, I think she'll be dark in the same way as Kylo, in that she'll be conflicted and in pain and turmoil. I think that's what's being communicated so far visually, as her sickly appearance could be an externalization of how something's not right within her, her lightsaber's blades are the same crackling, unstable red as Kylo's blade and even sound the same, as well as how her outfit is very similar to Kylo's. Her appearance seems oddly specific, her lightsaber in particular. That lightsaber seems so distinctly HER. Altogether, it looks too specific for a vision in my opinion.
Even as early as Force Awakens, I noticed how Rey does have darker parts of herself and that they actually come out pretty often. Namely, her anger: interestingly, she gets angry more often than any other character in Force Awakens, even if Kylo's tantrums are more iconic. The snow fight in particular where she's stalking him is when I figured she definitely without a doubt had darkness in her.
Then Last Jedi brought that closer to the forefront. She still has a huge amount of anger in her when she fights, and an acknowledged affinity for the darkness. Luke outright says she 'went straight to the dark... didn't even try to stop herself.' And call me crazy, but when Luke said that, Rey's face looked puzzled, noncomprehending. As if she didn't understand the difference between light and dark, or rather the significance of it.
Even in what little footage there is of Rise of Skywalker so far, it still looks like Rey has this kind of attitude. During the training scene, she looks frustrated, which to me says her training isn't going well. I mean, she does miss the training droid, which seems to be what she was aiming for with that throw. I also noticed how she has a red piece of cloth wrapped around her left hand. I think that means she recently suffered a wound, perhaps from the training droid because I can't see Kylo hurting her. And that may be where her frustration lies: she may feel like she needs to become more powerful, and as we know, the desire for power is one of the paths to the Dark Side.
Another part I want to bring up: the Death Star fight. It looks like Rey's the only one actually attacking and going on the offensive, as Kylo looks to only be defending himself, albeit doing a fantastic job at it since he's still managing to push her back even without attacking. So Rey's still attacking first, as she always does. Kylo doesn't want to hurt her, but Rey does want to hurt him.
And the last hint from the trailer itself was the music at the tail end, when it's just 'December' on screen. That's Rey's theme played in a minor key, transforming it from something adventurous and hopeful to something really eerie and nerve-wracking. They did something very similar yet opposite for the first trailer by playing Kylo Ren's theme in a major key; it changes from imposing and daunting to triumphant and outright heroic. This fits perfectly with the idea that Rey and Kylo Ren have parallel yet opposing journeys. Since it's obvious that Kylo's going to have a redemption arc, it makes sense to me that Rey could have the opposite and have a descending arc. Even the voices of Luke and Palpatine go with this: both of their statements could apply to either one of them. 'We've passed on all we know. A thousand generations live in you now. But this is your fight.' 'Your journey nears its end.' Just the fact that statements from two opposing figures could apply to either of them connects them even more.
The poster gives me some serious Revenge of the Sith vibes, and that got me thinking as to why all the elements present were used. Rey is in the same place as Anakin was, while Kylo is in Obi-Wan's place, even to the point of having the high ground. (HIGH GROUND!) That got me thinking again about the likelihood of Rey having a descending arc. While greatly repressed and much more internalized compared to Anakin's anger, Rey is angry almost as often as he was, if not more so. And again, it looks like Rey's the one attacking, while Kylo's defending. Even looking at the lightning on both sides, the blue lightning of Rey appears to be far more consuming and chaotic, while Kylo's red lightning is much more controlled. I think this could be a visual clue that Palpatine's going to get his claws into her, but will fail to do the same to Kylo. I think that's why Kylo is also literally higher than Rey, because he's going to rise. It's in the title: RISE of SKYWALKER, and he's a Skywalker. And because he rises, that conversely could also mean that Rey falls. After fully digesting the title's meaning and any other possible meanings it could have, I've always thought that Rey would be a more antagonistic figure in this film. With the poster pitting them against each other like that, I think it even more likely that Rey becomes a more antagonistic figure.
When she's not fighting or training, I noticed that her attitude in the trailers released so far seems notably less charismatic than in previous films. She has this blank or aloof look that's there even when she's in her Light Side clothes, and it looks way too similar to the blank look that Dark Rey has. Why she has that look I predict is because she's trying to resist something or put on an act to possibly try to fit in with the Resistance, because she could feel left out or lonely or misunderstood.
I think that could be one of the problems Rey encounters in this film, that she feels utterly alone and misunderstood. Even if she is surrounded by the Resistance, she'll still feel alone because there's no one there who can truly understand her, and she's pushing away the one person who can. Also possible is that people within the Resistance are afraid of her because of her power. Possibly some great misunderstanding could happen and make her turn away from the Resistance. In other words, the exact same things that led to Ben's own fall to the dark.
One possible event that could start off both Kylo's redemption and Rey's descent into darkness would be the death of Leia. The same traumatic event could lead to two completely opposing reactions from both of them. I think Rey would be consumed with grief since she viewed the Skywalker family as her own, and Leia's death would mean the last member of that family is gone in her eyes. She wouldn't consider Kylo as part of that because at this point I think she's too angry at him still. The fact that she's seemingly ignoring him could also be another path to her descent into darkness: she would be holding onto her hate and the pain he caused her. If anything, I think Rey would oppose Kylo completely, to the point that Finn, Poe, and the rest of the Resistance could accept him before Rey does. And this is typical of redemption arcs. The same thing happened in Avatar with Zuko in Book 3: the one person who was hurt most by him, Katara, was the last holdout to accepting him into the gang for a long time because she held onto that feeling of betrayal so strongly. Remember Katara went extremely dark just before she was able to forgive Zuko and become friends. So the same thing could likely happen here, in that Rey could go very dark before finally forgiving Kylo and fully loving him.
I could see Palpatine being there for her in that time after Leia's death. He's a master manipulator, so he will likely easily figure out that Rey values family more than anything and exploit that. If Mary and I are right in that Rey is in fact descended from Palpatine, then that gives Palpatine the perfect bait to entice Rey to his side. He could easily play the grandfather role for her when she has no one else to turn to and reassure her that she still does have family through him, just as he played the father figure to Anakin when he had no one else to turn to and reassure him that he could help save Padme. That makes me believe that Rey could willingly let him in and willingly allow Palpatine to twist her to his will, because she cares so much about family that it blinds the rest of her senses. It sounds callous, but it is a true statement for Rey: she lied to herself for nearly fifteen years about her family even when the signs were obvious that they weren't coming back. She's the Queen of Denial.
Whenever someone turns in Star Wars, it's always, ALWAYS, in the last film of the trilogy: Luke crossing the line into darkness and then turning back to the light in Return of the Jedi; Anakin turning back to the light in Return of the Jedi, Anakin turning to the dark in Revenge of the Sith; and most assuredly Ben turning away from the dark in Rise of Skywalker. Given the parallel yet opposing journeys of Kylo and Rey - their intertwined destiny - it's entirely likely a turn will happen for Rey as well. Turns in Star Wars do typically happen pretty quickly, but that's the status quo in this franchise. It actually is normal to have a quick turn in Star Wars. So a quick turn for Rey is entirely possible going off previous history.
There are only three instances that I'm aware of out of all Star Wars trailers that show a part of a vision: one of the Force Awakens teasers plus again in the official trailer shows Luke placing his hand on R2; the Force Awakens official trailer showed that scene with Kylo Ren and the rest of the Knights of Ren; and the Last Jedi official trailer showed Luke digging himself out of the collapsed hut and watching his temple burn. The one thing all of these have in common is that these are all events that actually happen. Even the one with Kylo and the Knights is very likely to come true in some way, shape, or form.
The thing about visions in Star Wars is that they always end up coming true in one way or another. Both of Anakin's visions come true in Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith. Rey's vision in Force Awakens has many events that have already happened and future events that will happen, like the snow fight. Even Luke's vision on Dagobah ended up coming true to a degree; he did become like Darth Vader in the throne room when he cut off Vader's hand, the exact same thing Vader had done to him on Bespin. Hell, even the visions that Rey and Kylo had after touching hands ended up coming true in their own way. So even if Dark Rey is a vision, then that doesn't mean Rey won't turn out like that going off of how other visions played out. So even if this is just a vision, it's likely to end up real in some way anyway due to how visions play out in Star Wars.
One thing that struck me regarding the general reaction to the Dark Rey tease is that it feels so incredibly similar to the general reaction to the hand scene from the Last Jedi official trailer. Nobody believed that would happen in the movie, and yet it did: Kylo did actually extend his hand to Rey. Of course, you girls predicted it would happen, because you used logical deduction and knowledge of storytelling. I think the same thing applies here: with logical deduction and knowledge of storytelling, it's possible to come up with a realistic story that would see Dark Rey actually happen.
Now I think Rey going dark could actually be a good thing for her character and journey, because she'll effectively be retracing the same steps that Kylo had previously taken. Again, if Mary and I are right about Rey being descended from Palpatine, then she'll likely find herself in the same position as Kylo had been in when he killed Han: she'll likely have to kill someone of her own blood as well, and it's going to inevitably tear her apart just like Kylo was torn apart. And that, I think, could be the experience she needs to be able to fully forgive Kylo for everything and understand him completely. There's no better way to understand someone than to step into their shoes, and if Rey goes dark, then that's exactly what she's going to do: she'll be stepping into Kylo Ren's shoes.
Rey going dark could also be good for Kylo as well, as he'll be in the same position that Rey was in when she went to the Supremacy; he'll be able to understand the pain and betrayal she felt when he turned away from her back then, because she'll be turning away from him this time. Ultimately, they'll both have a greater understanding of one another by the end of everything. It would just make Reylo even more beautiful than it already is.
I think it's possible that Kylo will end his journey closer to the light than ever, and that, inversely, Rey will end her journey closer to the dark than ever. It's a possibility to me that Rey could end her journey torn apart because she was the one to kill Palpatine, her own blood, but it'll still be a hopeful and satisfying end because by that time Ben would've redeemed himself and become a positive influence on Rey for that recovery. His compassion and love for her would be in full bloom. He could successfully help her through that aftermath because he's been there before. He understands. Again, it goes back to how they'll gain an even deeper understanding of one another by the end, and it'll make Reylo even more beautiful than it already is.
Can I just say how much I love Mary now? She's the only one I've seen who is as enthusiastic about Rey Palpatine as I am. Literally, from the first trailer, we've had the exact same thoughts. But I digress, I love ALL you girls! I apologize for posting the longest comment ever, but I'm just too excited to shut up lol. Please let it be December already!

I love the idea of Kylo/Ben as Anakin's heir, not Darth Vader's heir. Since I've started listening to you ladies and all your theories, I've felt that Kylo needs to not only redeem himself but also Anakin. But not only that, he also needs be the leader/person he's supposed to be out from the manipulation of Snoke and the Emperor. He needs to realize who he wants to be and fight for it.

Also I wanted to point out some stuff I find a little weird in the trailers (and I'm sorry but it's a very long post 😁):
- In the first trailer when Rey faces the TIE, Rey doesn't seems angry or in the middle of a fight, rather concentrating and kind of feeling the force, could she be training? And if so with Kylo/Ben (because I'm pretty sure these are his gloves)? I also must add that the TIE is even not shooting at her, isn't that really curious?
- In all the trailers, when we see Kylo/Ben, he never wears his helmet, and even if it's shown being repaired, we never see it with Kylo involved, it seems strange to me, and it kept me thinking that may be he will "return" as Ben in the beginning of the movie, that he will not pursue his path in the first order? Because he already kind of dive in the dark force at the end of TLJ, he went on a rage fight with everything that hurted him (the resistance, the Falcon, Luke) but he failed like big time (the resistance survived, the falcon survived, well Luke did died but not at his hands) and may be this is what he needed, to let go of all the rage, that obviously left him empty and sad (omg that last force bound with Rey, wasn't he looking like a puppy that did a bad thing ?). And as he's not fully Kylo anymore, that would explain why there's no scene with him and his helmet anymore? Also I had that crazy theory that may be Kylo leaves the First order before TROS, and that Hux may be rebuild the helmet to make everyone believe that he is still with them and to maintain order and supremacy in the galaxy?
-Also even in the scene with Vader's helmet he doesn't wear it too as oppposed to the one in TFA, could it be, as you said, because he is changing his mind and doesn't want to be Vador grandson anymore?
- Dark Rey really looks unreal to me in that trailer, it's even like it is her face added up on someone else's, like a not so great editing....? It could be a vision, but may be there is even someting more about it, like, crazy theory, someone is bearing her face as an hologram perhaps? I kinda hope so cuz I'm not a fan of Rey really going dark, as I feel she is not scared of going dark at all, she even embrace it sometimes (and it was interesting that it scared Luke, but not her, kind of she knows darkness is a part of life, so why be scared of it) without falling into it, and it would kind of break her character arc for me... Even if I would love that she learns how to use both dark and light force 😉

We thought it was a training scene, but some leaks say they are actually fighting. We surely hope it isn't the case because it's completely stupid... Not sure if someone else will impersonate Kylo. The comics is called Allegiance, and on the last images of the article you can see a little vignette of Rey, Chewie, Leia and a fourth figure that really looks like Kylo/Ben, but of course it could be someone else 😊 And thanks for the answer, I feel kinda lost, there's so much leaks recently, I'm starting wondering if it's not on purpose? To kind of mess with our brain! Because a lot of them don't make any sense to me, and are even plain contradictory, I feel like nothing will happen like the leaks predicted... While Kylo is the New Vader, I think a good case can be made that Rey is the New Anakin, so having her briefly fall to the dark side (and having the Anakin Obi-Wan duel 2.0) but with a happy ending would be cool.
That makes sense too, and it would include a super quick fall.
Give me a prediction: Will there be a kiss in Episode 9? In the original trilogy we had the Han & Leia kiss, in the prequels Anakin was kissing Padme. In the sequels we so far had Finn & Rose but that does not count in my opinion since they are just side characters. So will there be a kiss between Rey & Kylo?

My prediction is that "Dark Side" Rey is real and not a vision...but is a different Rey. My theory is that Rey is a clone/creation of Palpatine, and that the cave scene in TLJ was foreshadowing that she is a clone. The Dark Side Rey is Rey...but is a different Rey...
My Reylo twist on this is that when Dark Side Rey appears, Kylo will be tempted team up with her, but will instead help the Rey we know fight the Dark Side clone (because he loves her of course!).
What I don't like is the idea that Palpatine possesses her. I'll hold off on my criticisms of Rey as a character, but with that said I don't think any loss of agency would be good for her. She already has not been severely challenged by the consequences of her actions or decisions, so the idea of a fall to the dark side *happening to her* is not palatable and will not endear her to fans upset with how she has been handled. I don't want her greatest challenge to be one of being a victim.
@Gregory B, I agree 100% with what you said about Rey needing agency. Re: dark vs light clone Rey, I think this is a fascinating theory, and not one I'd heard before when you first posted it. In general I don't like the idea of Rey being a clone (I think you mentioned you don't, either) but if she has to be one I think this would be a brilliant way to execute that plot device. Btw I don't know if you heard, but apparently LF self-leaked (by accident) that evil Rey was a vision. xD
Did anyone else notice something odd about Dark Rey's lightsaber? It appears as unstable and crackling as Kylo's unstable lightsaber that had to have side vents to stabilize it. Could Dark Rey had to have a double-bladed saber to stabilize the single blade?
Episode 9 is Rey's Episode 3. Rey and Ben have been on opposite story arcs since the beginning. I just don't see these two ending up together. Assuming a romance does exist it will be a tragic romance.

One more question and I need this to be clarified is the new TROS logo blue or purple. It seems we've gotten different ones?
If you look at the color, let's say with a sampler in photoshop and then check the color it's bluish purple. It's possible that the new one is even more purple because people didn't get the purpleness in the first version.

Regarding Leia's death. I think she'll go peacefully. Like Yoda in Return of the Jedi. In the April teaser, we see Leia embracing a crying Rey. Possibly, Leia is telling her she's dying.

I don’t think the footage that’s shown in the trailer of Dark Rey is actually in the film because if you look at it, it just looks kind of clunky and CGI’d. I reckon it’s something they’ve put together to put in the trailer to show there’s something like that in the film but if they showed the actual footage it would show too much about why she’s dressed that way. My theory is that she dresses like that to make Palpatine THINK she’s turned to the dark side so it stops him from JUST trying to possess Kylo. That way when they fight him which I think they will do together Palpatine can switch from either body which creates an interesting dynamic for the final fight scene where we see ‘siths’ fighting ‘siths’ which is something we haven’t seen before. Cause let’s face it, it takes a sith to kill a sith. We’ve just only seen it done in the past in ‘sneaky’ ways. We’ve never seen them fight. Which would be cool to see.

Some of the things are likely truth, like the reason C3-PO gets red eyes, but the basic structure of the plot doesn't make sense. They wouldn't have Kylo chasing Rey in three separate sequences. Kylo is a protagonist, he's not the terminator. Anyway... there might be some nuggets of truth there, but it's all misinterpreted , perhaps there's some misdirection and interpretation going on.

I think this time they don't want any misleading marketing, because it seriously backfired in TFA with all the Reylo hate (since people came out of the movie thinking Rey was Luke's daughter and Finn's love interest). There were rumors about Kylo walking away from his tie fighter that Rey wrecks. That said, there's still time to fix it if the original idea was her going at him in a backflip.
Personally I didn't find anything misleading about the advertisement of Force Awakens, simply because I'm one of the few who doesn't read much in a trailer...the only thing 'misleading' about the TFA marketing was how Kylo Ren was introduced with his lightsaber with a cross guard, something that hadn't been seen before in Star Wars. That got people hyped more than anything, but that scene was not shown in the movie [hell even I looked for it] so there was disappointment with that.
Sooo, naturally, the hardcores *assumed* Kylo was in par with Darth Vader...imagine how they felt when they got a spoiled brat instead, now THAT caused backlash, the so-called villain was a frustrated man-child. So, when a 1/3 of the fandom started talking about how they '''could see the connection between Rey & Kylo'' in TFA, most people were like '''What?!?'', thus *the Reylo Wars* began....
...and you have a few out there who are STILL hanging onto their annoyance by a thread even tho' a few years have gone by, people who are literally being messy *on purpose* . Also if you think about it, JJ had no intention of Kylo Ren being the ''Big Bad'', I never had that impression from him, now Hux & Snoke were a different story. So it truly amazes me how folks completely didn't get that by the time Last Jedi was out.
As for Rey being Finn's love interest, because Daisy & John had such good chemistry, I could see the possibility when I first saw the Force Awakens, I wouldn't have been opposed to it, other than that JJ did a good job with the movie, it *felt* like a Star Wars movie.
@@TheColorOfCaramel a lot of people thought Finn would be force-sensitive and also the lead. It's well-documented in the pre-TFA speculation. They had Finn with the lightsaber and held back toys with Rey with the lightsaber because they wanted it to be a surprise. Finn as a jedi was a red herring, thus misleading. Many people weren't misled, of course, but the marketing was meant to make people think the movie would go one way, when it went another. They also had some photo shoots with Daisy and John that seemed romantic. I think they also wanted to surprise people with the real romantic arc. Instead, they caused division in the fandom and people even now thinking the couple is Rey and Finn.

Cool meta on the midpoint. I personally think that the real midpoint in TFA should be the interrogation scene, because that's when tables are turned and preconceptions thrown upside down. The movie also feels bloated in the beginning (most people skip parts when they watch it) and short in the end. But that's a discussion for another time.

Yes, they can go the possessed route, but then they take away Kylo's agency and the significance of the gesture. I think his motivations will need to be well explained and Kylo also needs to show that he's changed, and make up for that. We have an episode on that, called "How will Kylo redeem himself?", and we comment on the fact that they can't simply brush that aside.

Thank you for your reply) I also think that the plot will go differently. Most likely Palpatine's ghost will tell Kylo that Darth Vader got stronger after he lost his love one (Padme). Thats why Palpatine will highly recommend Kylo to kill Rey to become stronger too. I think Kylo killed Solo exactly because of that- he was brainwashed by Palpatine's formula of power : kill who you love -->get stronger.
