I would love to hear more about your CNC. If it is your design, I am sure people would be willing to pay for a set of plans.
+Thomas Lightle maybe I will make an overview of it, but not sure there are enough interest, we´ll see
+Bellevue Woodshop I'd certainly be interested...
Lights look great Roy....your additional pneumatics on the CNC are awesome! What are you using to make your CAM? The function where you measure the new tool is so great.
+Tyler G Thank you Ty, they are great for aligning the part to be machined to the cnc´s axis, and also the zero point set in the offset used. I am running mach 3 and I use vcarve CAD/CAM, I draw most of my stuff in sketchup, and export as dxf, and import it into vcarve. The toolchange macro is built into a great screenset that I puchased from a guy over at machsupportforum called ger21. If you are familiar with mach3, you propably know its open source, and one can design the screens and function to the desired need and level. There has been a few requests about a more in depth look at the cnc, and that might just be my next video
The auto dust shroud is pretty awesome! Cool project, thanks for sharing.
+Shop built Thank you Ryan. it works great, and gives great access to the bit when not in use
You amaze me with your various DIY shop projects outside the realm of woodworking. You possess an incredible engenuity and technical skill set. Thanks.
+Rob Griffioen WOW, thanks for that VERY generous comment Rob. It really appreciated. Glad you liked it, and thanks for watching and commenting
Neat build and it looks like the CNC is running great :)
+John Heisz Thanks John, Yup no huge bumps in the road yet. Still have to clean up the control cabinet and do some more pneumatic stuff. and BTW there is another cnc machine about to be borne. Much smaller, more for very detailed work. might cover some of the build here.
Bellevue Woodshop That would be interesting :)
The light looks very professional! After seeing Matthias Wandel's fluorescent vs LED video this is very timely. Also that is positively the coolest homemade CNC I have ever seen! Great job!
+Jer's Woodshop Thanks Jer, your feedback is much appreciated. Thank you for the kind words on the cnc, its coming along
Pretty cool but I totally couldn't live with the noise of that fan. I just use regular E27 LED bulbs in place of the CFLs.
+Gadget Addict Its not as bad as it sounds in the vide, I shot it very close, but might sub it for a silent computer fan
Another awesome build man!!! If I "didn't know you" I'd think you bought it... Can I send you my sticker as well? :)
+Giaco Whatever Thank you very much for the generous comment, it is much appreciated. Sure drop me a PM and we´ll trade stickers:)
Nice job Roy. I am not sure if I mentioned to you or not but I started a RUclips channel myself! Maybe I will finish the parallel bar clamps I'm building based on your plans that I purchased. Check out my channel if you get a second. Love the light, nice work!
+Mike Kapotsy Thank you Mike, both for watching, and for purchasing the plans. Good luck on your channel, and I´ll stop by for a look
If you ad a little background music it won't be so awkward lol
Yeah it works, but the background noise of a fan wouldn't work.
looks really professional! well done!
+G.Work.Specials Thanks for the kind words
Looks very professional. The noise seems quite loud on the video. Are you picking that up when filming?
+Rob Hardie Thanks Rob. There is some noise from it, but not more than a pc fan. If you listen to the video, the sound is not as dominant as you should think, you can compare it to the clock ticking up on the wall, and this is the first video I have heard the clock. As I do any narration afterwords in the studio, and not talking to the camera, I can just lower any noise from the fan on the clip. Thanks for watching and commenting
Fun to see some "familiar" tools in a DIY-video here on RUclips. Also, could you build me one of those CNC's Roy? I don't have a workshop yet, but I'm not using my kitchen _that_ much.
+Bellevue Woodshop Haha, don't tempt me. I know 500 things I want to make with a CNC, and maybe 10 to make in the stove.
deve ser de uma precisão incrível essa máquina que você usa para cortar a peça !cnc? Seus trabalhos são dos que mais gosto de ver ! sempre interessante. acabamento impecável. Parabéns.
+Leonardo Rinaldes Obrigado Leonardo. Sim O CNC é muito preciso. obrigado por assistir
good stuff. could have used a high CRI COB LED instead of the ebay one. cheers
Thanks😀👍
nice. is the fan a problem for audio when you're recording?
+Blake Lambert Thanks Blake. the fan is a pretty silent computer fan, but since I do not do "live" narrations, only voice overs, I dont think its gonna be a problem
Is the fan imperative? I thought that the led technology produced less heat, therefore saving energy. Or is it a matter of longevity?
+Christian Vale The cooling fins come with the fan installed, so I guess it is. I tried a led panel without any fan og fins, and it started smoking after 5 sec. LED panels and electronics do not cherish temperatures above 60 degrees celsius. So with this in mind, I do not want to take any changes
I've seen the idea done before, but not better than this. Great work and I plan to build one or three myself now. Thanks for posting.
+Tom Reagh Thanks for watching and commenting Tom
it's the cleanest build I've seen great idea.
Awesome! That CNC is super!
+Cosmas B Thanks Cosmas, After the "makeover" it has worked great.
You are by far one of best "makers" on RUclips. Your stuff always goes that extra mile, looks very professional and also fully featured. You have never disappointed. Just one question, what is that tin you use for the body? Looks to be pretty heavy duty...
+smitcher WOW, thank you VERY much for those generous words, it is much appreciated. I am glad you among others also has a "thing" for some extra details......makes me feel less OCD. The tins/cans are glue containers for PU glue, used at an edgebanding machine at work. the are pretty solid, and they caught my eye in the dumpster the other day as they have the perfect shape and size for this project. thanks for watching and commenting
+Bellevue Woodshop you are very welcome. Thanks for continuing to make great videos and the more ocd the better ;-)
Don't happen to remember the model of the softbox by any chance, do you?
+Bill Weissborn I actually tried to search for it at aliexpress, and in my orderhistory, but I could not seem find that specific moel. i will drop you a pm if I find it
can you make a deatailed video of the CNC? I would love to see that!
+lego getriebe That might just happen
i like your attention to detail. very proffessional.
+Tiit Saul Thank you very much for the generous comment
Well done. And a pretty serious CNC you've got there. :)
+Espen Lodden Thanks Espen. Upon request I am hoping to do a review of its features soon
The metal "cans"; where did you get them. They are great for this. Love the project. Thank you.
Nice and neat work
i would suggest changing the fan to Silent one
+Hussain Khalaf Thanks, that would be a better sollution. Any links to a good one?
What a great build. How hot would the light get if the fan was shut off?
+Richard Wasserman I am not sure, but I tried one without the cooling fins, and it fried in 4 seconds:)
Where did you procure the can? What thickness is it?
I found it in the trash at work. used to hold some PU glue blocks. Do you mean wall thickness or can diameter?
Well done Kolba...looks fantastic..(Y)
Thanks
Very Nice can i buy one please ?
Thanks, but I do not make these for sale unfortunately
good proyect, thanks for the video
Thank you Miguel
Fantastic! Many thanks for sharing.
+Evangelos Himonides Thank you very much, and thanks for watching and commenting
That looks great. As always...
+ladedk Thank you very much, as always:)
I wanna see rechargeable version, more mobility
I probably would have removed that label at 3:57 with a heat gun and follow it up with something like acetone to remove any residual adhesive. Then powdercoat it! Haha, not like I have access to a coater right now or even a badass skillset to make something even half as clean as this.
I honestly wouldn't mind having that thing, though that hsf is way too loud and would probably change up the configuration to include thermal monitoring, a fluid-dynamic fan and a better heatsink, but then I'd be paying way too much and may as well just modify a cheap existing unit.
It could be modified in many ways, but as you say, the cost would add up, and the closer to a commercial and better one you would get. Quick and easy, but maybe a more silent fan would be preferred. I mainly do voice overs anyway, so it works for me
You really need to earth that tin can
+dan H You are correct
Is very good.
Thank you kaka
I guess that settles it. good to know. Thanks!
You knocked it out of the park again! The professional look and quality of your projects are second to none! I love the videos. Keep it up!
+Christian Vale Thank you Christian for the generous comment. Really glad you like the stuff I put up here. It is much appreciated
Nice build you're the best. 2 thump up. I want to build one to. will be wait for your another tutorial :D
Thank you very much
exelente hermano...
Здорово! Великолепная работа!)
+ДОБРЫЙ СТОЛЯР Большое спасибо
+ДОБРЫЙ СТОЛЯР Еще бы вентилятор не шумел, было бы еще лучше.
Diy for nasa
DIY for everything
Nicely done!
+Ian Graham Thank you very much Sir
one can also replace cfl bulbs with four 27w led bulbs
Yup, thats an easier way o do it, and a great idea
very sweet
Thank you Scott
Nice job!
+Jose Luis Diaz Meneses Thank you Jose
the minute i saw the homemade CNC you got a new subsxriber. Keep up the good work! Merry Christmas
Thanks you for watching, commenting and subscribing. Merry Christmas to you as well
Thanks!
Wow! You are pro! Thank you from Brazil!
Thank you very much Ricardo
Where did you find those cans?
They are cans containing blocks of PU glue that we use in our production at my day job. I do not know if they are distributed around the world or just in Europe. Made by a company called JOWAT
Bellevue Woodshop thanks
Not to loud?
It depends on the situation. For voiced over shots its no problem
Really nice video and build.
+Steve Collins Thank you STeve, and thanks for watching
