    Windblight Ganon was the first boss I fought on 3/3/17, it took me a while to get my strategy for him, only to beat him and be met immediately with Waterblight and realize there are gonna be at least two more of these things and I might need to scour the castle for some more/better gear. Another reason why I think this is the first dungeon, he's the first form of Ganon you fight if you don't do any of the Divine Beasts.
    So my head cannon for the breakable pillars on the top is that this divine beast wasn't buried very deep and those are remnants of structures built on top of it. This beast has more green grown on it than the others and I believe is the only one with grass actually on it.

    BotW gots such a vast world. I will never understand how they could miss including hebra mountains into the mainquest for vah medoh...

      Thankfully they fixed that in tears of the kingdom leading up to the wind temple

    Great video! I can't wait to see your views on Naboris!!
    Regarding what you said about Revali struggling to fight Windblight, I remember someone pointng out that the Champions fights against the Blights were likely during nighttime. Since it was nighttime, Revali might have had more of a struggle since the Rito Canonically have bad night-vision so being able to spot Windblight after sunset would have been quite difficult for him. It was interesting to think about imo haha

    This was the first divine beast I did on my first playthrough, and I didnt yet realize you could manipulate them using the map. I solved every puzzle without tilting meadow and got stuck at the terminal on the underside of the left wing, only for my roommate who'd been watching in growing exasperation to finally tell me I could just raise the wings and get back to the center 😂

    Regarding the lack of enemies mentioned at 10:58, my guess is that weapon durability would’ve been an issue if more enemies would have been added throughout the divine beasts. Having all your weapons break towards the end of the dungeon because of more enemies and then having to leave the dungeon to get more weapons breaks ongoing progression, but this all depends on a player-by-player basis.

      I'm so frequently abandoning weapons, that I personally feel that it wouldn't be an issue. Especially if those added enemies dropped weapons as well.
      Consider how many enemies are in Hyrule Castle for example. You don't have to leave the castle to gather weapons though, because there are so many to choose from right there.

    Awesome video! I wonder if they didn’t put more enemies inside the divine beasts bc there are so many around Hyrule? But it would still be more fun with the added challenge inside the beasts!
    BTW your aim IS really good!

    Fun fact about this beast.
    Revahli SOS signal comes later in the music. Which hints that he last the longest against his Ganon.

    I think there are so few enemies in the dungeons because they were designed with the possibility in mind that you never upgraded your weapon slots with Hestu before you reached them. That said, Hyrule Castle certainly didn't bother with holding your hand like that, so there really wasn't a good reason for the DBs to do the same.

    I believe the problem is that they wanted to write it to say that getting into the divine is supposed to be impossible if they are used right. Why build interior defenses if you specifically made an impossible to stop army (i.e. the horde of guardians they used). This leads to the developers having to choose if you should just jump straight into the boss fight once we get into the beast or they just vomit Malice everywhere since the Ganon we see is mindless and can't think beyond what Ganondorf would want and doesn't have enough sentience to think ahead.

    This Divine Beast is probably my favourite overall. It’s not too difficult and the boss is also my favourite. It’s pretty fun with boss arena’s layout but also because it killed Ravioli

    this was posted a while ago but a thought i had regarding the lack of enemies inside the divine beasts- I believe it's a story reason, especially in rudania's case. Don't like the lack either but it seems to make sense to me.
    The beasts were implied to be buried/inaccessible after the calamity. rudania was in the volcano and ruta was underwater. Medoh's constant tipping could very well have dumped any other enemies off even after being reactivated. The only one this is very odd for is Naboris but that could be explained by the desert turning it into hyrule's version of a car in summer. we only see bokobins at the edges of the desert, electric keese at night and fire lizalfos.
    The scouts may have been 'buried' with the Vahs and the malice eyes/stal skull spitters may be the only "monsters" that consistently could be put without being lava doomed,drowned,dumped off or overheated. (in the context of which enemies were in BOTW. aerocuda would have been terrifying/annoying thats for sure)
    edit: If we take from AOC then revali lost cause windblight cheated. it was night during a thunderstorm and rito have poor night vision. what little night vision he had would have been destroyed. combined with the extreme wind he may very well not have been able to aim at all and survived as long as he did because of his flying...

    BIRB TIMEEEEE!!! I love rito village! All of the birb folk (minus Ravioli) make me so happy ☺️ they're so pretty! I love the dragon roost island theme!! It was really fun that they brought it back here 👍🏼 Saki is so pretty 🥰 wow, this beast really has basically nothing leading up to it 😝 it really is a bit incongruent! I had a lot of fun running around the outside of Medoh. The views were gorgeous 😍 I think it's really cool that there are multiple ways to do things here! That definitely helps things feel a bit more interesting 👍🏼 I didn't even notice the pillars! It's a good point that they don't really belong there 🤔 Revali's/Medoh's music is sooo good! The sad and hopeful themes blend so well together 💚 This version of blight Ganon is kind of boring, and wasn't much of a challenge IMHO 😝 YOU DO HAVE VERY GOOD AIM!!! 😂😂😂 I love the look of the heart containers in this game 😊 I feel like the lack of enemies makes sense in terms of the actual plot of the game, because why would Ganon heavily guard the divine beasts when he hasn't had any kind of threat in a century? But it does make the game a little less interesting to play 😝 Another great video, burger!! I'm especially excited to talk through Vah Nabooris next, but take your time 😋💚👍🏼

    These videos are criminally underrated... I love these in-depth analysis of dungeons in Zelda games. It's a very fascinating subject, and something i've always monologued inside my head ever since I was nine. Thank you for these, they're very well made and you think of pretty much everything, and every single detail about their design. On to watch pretty much all of them.

    Completely agree. This was always the easiest boss fight for me in this game (aside from dark beast ganon). I had actually never even seen the attack you showed with the bouncing lasers since I would just always go for the vent and eye shot him before he could even do it. Kind of amazing. Hardest has to be Vah ruta’s blight….especially on master mode. I could actually never beat the champions ballad boss battle with water blight. Got frustrated and quit 😅

    Bonnie and Tetra are right - you have awesome bow aim! For some reason it's harder for me, even with the gyro ability 😆 Skilllllls!
    I also love the puzzles and variety and freedom of Medoh! It reflects the freedom of the whole "open air" concept the devs came up with, which I adore. A lot of ppl say that the Divine Beasts are all exactly the same, but I think these videos prove otherwise, minus a few little issues like the lack of enemies to fight, of course. There is a definite difference between them to me, and that's part of what makes them so fun to complete!

    This is the order I did in my playthrough: Vah Naboris, Vah Medoh, Vah Ruta and Vah Rudania. I went for Naboris first because it's the closest to the Great Plateau, and from there I progressed witn an N pattern. For TOTK, I went for a Z pattern (Wind, Fire, Lightning, Water)

    I actually found the battle with Windblight to be rather intense. Medoh was my second dungeon, and I also was at a point in my playthrough where I was not good at saving up a lot of rupees, meaning that I couldn't purchase the Rito armor and therefore had to mostly rely on cooked meals that increased my cold resistance.
    As such, imagine how tense it was for me to eventually run out of cold resistance during the fight and resort to force feeding myself various food items in a race against the clock, all while not yet being super skilled with a bow.
    Windblight was pretty tense, and its defeat filled me with a rush of adrenaline, relief, and satisfaction.
    Meanwhile, I didn't realize how flexible traversal through Vah Medoh could be, meaning that I thought I had to take the long way around each time I fell off those center platforms.

    What you said about Windblight, that if you know how to deal with it, it's very easy. I think that goes for the whole dungeon as well. For example the puzzle with the metal ball. If you tilt Medoh and have the windows open, you can just glide from window to window and scan the terminal. This is of course also a good example of the out-of-the-box opportunities that you mentioned, which is great. The challenge of this dungeon and the boss is mainly to figure out how to tackle them. If you have figured that out, the difficulty level drops very hard in my opinion, which is the pitfall of this dungeon sadly.

    vah medoh has a better central room than vah ruta and it feels more navigable.

    So, ruto, rudania, medo and naboris.
    Kinda hoping youd take that hint from creating a champion and go for nabotis first since link had a genuinr connection with urbosa more so than revali.
    But.
    Hey- thats 3 dungeons left.
    Naboris. Great plateau part 2 and hyrule castle.

      I think I rationalized my decision for my preferred dungeon order well enough between these three videos so far, especially why I started with Ruta, but I also have stressed the lack of official dungeon order quite a bit too.
      I always save Naboris for last though. It’s my fav and it’s the most challenging of the four. Everyone has their preference though, and i had to do these in some order, so I figured I’d just stick to what I like to do.

    I feel like the way Rudania’s head opens up was possibly inspired by the Demogorgon from Stranger Things. The show premiered about a year before the game released so it’s possible they tweaked the design.

    Hey Capt, just curious, is there a back story to the music you have playing starting around 13 seconds? It's in the same vein as the OST but very dissonant sounding, thought maybe I was missing something.

      Hey thanks for asking! I wrote that song actually, and was defintely aiming for a sound that is broken and dissonant, but could maybe fit in with BOTW. Glad to hear that at least somewhat shone through haha
