A cool thing the official Zelda manga does is give the hyrule resistance members more to do. Characters like Auru, Rusl, and Ashei all participate in combat alongside Link at the hyrule castle battle. Ashei also joins Link at Snowpeak ruins, while Shad gets to see the City in the Sky for himself.

This channel is _so_ underrated it's sickening... Such phenomenal editing in addition to your personal experiences / explanations - they work so well with what you're trying to explain/demonstrate. Should have 100k subs within a year imo..
I don't think people understand the amount of work, time, brainstorming, playing the *actual* game, AND capturing footage / technical know-how to get everything wrapped up and then published in such high quality.

I definitely agree 100% but maybe that's because there's a minority of fans who really look into the details with a fine-tooth comb as a way of trying to understand why these dungeons are so appealing to us as players - I guess not all players do that, they maybe just want to experience the game as it is and not ask questions? I know I don't and love asking questions and theorizing!

Is it patience or just amount of time you're willing to dedicate to something meaningless? I'm fairly patient in general but games pulling time wasting bs lights me up to the point I'd pay to skip it were it an option.

@@CaptBurgerson haha absolutely. Twilight Princess's hidden lore is so full and rich, it's crazy. I always learn new things when I think I've known it all!
For example, Twili symbolism is ALSO seen in the Lakebed Temple's Boss room.
Also, the fact the sky city uses the spinner as a mechanism implies that they also made that tool, since the other place the other temple besides the Arbiter's grounds the spinner was used was the Temple of Time, a structure directly stated in-game to have been constructed by the Oocca.
And then we also have the Gorons, who have Beamos within their mines, beamos which only appear in the Temple of Time too, implying the ones in Goron Mines were also of Oocca construction.
I mean the list just keeps growing and growing. It's wild

This is my favourite dungeon in the whole game, simply because it felt so long and winding. This may be because I am the type of person who actually enjoys what you call “chores”. I did frequently get lost in parts of this dungeon, and I love that. I also rarely slew any enemies myself in this dungeon, instead throwing or leading them down the pits or off ledges, down to a nice relaxing vacation to Lake Hylia. I had a lot of fun with this dungeon and I feel the dungeon left me with nothing to complain about.

Ah, my all-time favourite Dungeon .. Thank you for being comprehensive with the goods and bads of it.

  • @hambartha
    @hambartha Год назад +3

Great video on this dungeon, it is my personal favourite in the whole game. I agree with the padding element but I loved the stuff about 'The Sky Writing' as it seemed very mysterious in the same way that ancient lost languages/symbols are fascinating in our own world. I did not know the translation for the Hidden Village Sign was 'Old Kakariko' from OoT - it makes a great deal of sense and a really nice touch to tie in OoT and the Era of Twilight Princess together. The music for The Hidden Village was brilliantly done and another really nice touch - it reminded me of a classic Clint Eastwood Western - I loved western films as a kid so I get a lot of nostalgia vibes.
Shooting off into the sky via a cannon was amazing and reaching The City of The Sky, which was a dungeon in of itself including a shop where you could buy items - I think maybe a first for 3D dungeons so far, most dungeons do not come with a very convenient shop in which to replenish your health. The mysterious Oocoo birds have their own civilisation up here and they are by far the most abstract looking race the Zelda Series has introduced us too - they seem somewhat inspired by Lovecraft given how abstract they look and I had a similar impression from the Chifos and Freezard enemies from Snowpeak Ruins (Did the development team take inspiration from Lovecraft? Maybe). The race of The Oocoo do seem mysterious, not much is known about them - I think this sense of mystery is reflected in the music for this dungeon, it also gives the impression of vastness and of being ancient. The architectural design of this dungeon alone is stunning, it's certainly intricate and does give an industrial-feel with the large fans as you say. It's really interesting to hear what you said about the style of art used here as it seems abstract to me - I cannot seem to think of any real-world similarities these architectural structures resemble...
This dungeon was such a maze yet linear and the fact that the dungeon boss has such a major role in the design of this dungeon is genius - this is how dungeons should progress in Zelda Games, maybe allow bosses to make sudden unexpected changes to the structure of the dungeon and force the player to undergo creative problem-solving in order to progress through the dungeon. I remember with a friend years ago that we wanted to create a dungeon boss for a 'Zelda Dungeon' but the twist was that the dungeon itself was the dungeon boss and massive in scale, something like Shadow of Colossus in size for example. Totally unexpected and shocking. The mini-boss fight felt underrated because it became a common enemy thereafter. Dungeon mini-bosses should be as unique as dungeon bosses! Argorok was a really cool boss fight and the boss had a bit more intelligence than other bosses faced so far in changing his attack pattern. I think I would have preferred a more unique boss theme for this fight to be honest but I can understand the connection between this boss and Morpheel with the cinematic stabbing of the weak spots - also another great feature of the boss fights as it made it feel more immersive!
Overall, a brilliant dungeon full of surprises and exploring vastness!

This and that is helpful! 😂 So pumped for this video!! LMAO about the tab though, that's my kinda guy. 😜 Louise and her sticky paws! It's crazy how many times that figurine gets stolen 😝 I love the western feel of the old town!! It's such a fun part of the game and I love it🥰 Impaz is adorable!! She reminds me of old impa in BoTW. SHAD 😂 Honestly TP is such a long game... There is so much to do between every dungeon!!! Ooccoo is so funny and so creepy and I still love them so much 😂 I love all of the egg-like shapes in this dungeon, it's fitting for the semi-birb Ooccoo people 👍🏼 SPINNER! Making a comeback lolol 👍🏼 yeah, it always confused me that the dominion rod isn't used in this dungeon!! I love how much you notice about the architecture in the game 🥺 it deserves every bit of attention you give it!! Also the dominion rod symbol is a great catch that I hadn't noticed before, so thanks for sharing! LMAO that the English translation is wrong 😝 Big agree that the Ooccoo are not later versions of the people who stayed in the sky, that seems so crazy to me 😝 I think it would be really cool if the clawshots were the same ones from SS 😊 the swirling patterns are another cool connector! You're so observant!! I love the ivy in this dungeon, it's so pretty 😊 using the spinner in the floor looks inappropriate 😅 double claw shots!!!!! Probably my favorite item combo ever 😁 PEE HATS 😂😂😂 I'm 5 😂 I love the western side of this dungeon! Navigating through the place was so fun 😊 is the fight with the 2 aerialfoes a second Midboss fight? Argorok is such a cool boss! You are right, dragons are always fun haha 😊 I never noticed that the music for the fight was the same as earlier! That's so cool! This is such a great fight, even though he's not too hard. It's so entertaining! Hey, no giant eyeballs!! 😁 Lolol so much shade for the spooder 😂 This was a great video, burger!!! I know it was a monster to complete, so a very emphasized GG!! Excited for the next one 😊👏🏼

I find it really satisfying to clear out more than half the Bulblins in the Hidden Village right from where the challenge starts. This and the part where you're stealth-killing all the Bulblins in that encampment south of the Arbiter's Grounds are my favorite parts of the game, though I'm glad they're the exception rather than the rule.
An interesting detail is how all the big warpable items either come from or go to the Eldin Province. I would've expected the Faron Province to be more involved, because Farore's Wind, but, eh.
Dinolfos: Put your Hidden Skills to use... or just hit one with a Bomb Arrow. The other will run over to investigate... but in his eagerness, forget to jump the gap and fall to his presumable death.
Aerolfos are found in Tri Force Heroes, but Twilight Princess is where we first see them. Another way they're unlike the last midboss is that, where the midboss version of the Darknut trains you for later Darknut encounters, the midboss version of the Aerolfos has a second phase that no other Aerolfos in the game has.
On the way down, that one Clawshot target was a trap, but now that you can aim one Clawshot while attached using the other, it's safe.
Normally, I would agree, but Mugiwara Yoshi of TheStrawhatNO! claims to have gotten to the northern pod without having turned on the fan. Not that he was trying to make things harder for himself; he just didn't realize he had to. I don't want to say he lied without proof that it's literally impossible instead of just very hard, just because I can't imagine doing that.
Whereas I'm fine not particularly going out of my way for chests.

Sidebar: the Hidden Village (and Arbiter's Grounds camp) can be a lot of fun if you have the Hawkeye and sniping Bokoblins. (You get the ability to buy it by talking to Talo after you get the bow, then Malo sells it and you can then combine it with the bow for a scope).

Okay so. I was thinking of how I could make the Argarok fight more difficult without making it too different and I think I increased the spectacle to the point of ridiculousness. In this hypothetical, for the final hit, Argarok would get wise to your tricks and descend to the ground to avoid your clawshot whenever you got on the peahats, taking potshots from the ground. So what you would have to do is clawshot to a peahat directly above him then let go and plunge into him defeating him with the biggest Fatal Blow in the series (to my knowledge). I think I overdid it a bit...

I can't get enough of your videos. You put sooo much effort into those, they are also so well edited. The city in the sky is - in my opinion - the dungeon, where Nintendo put the most effort ever in. All the dungeons in TP are so overwhelming in its layout and design. You can see, they really wanted to top Ocarina of time and fulfil all their imaginations they had in mind, which they couldnt show due to the capacity limitations on the N64. Most of them are more linear than the oot and MM ones and less complex, but still really good dungeons. The atmosphere in the city of the sky is one of the best in the zelda franchise. But I admit, this dungeon is a "bit" too huge... A good dungeon shouldnt take more than around 45 minutes. OoT dungeons got the perfect size in my opinion, the MM ones could be a bit bigger (except for the stonetower temple) but are still amazing and well sized. TP ones are also mostly well sized, but could be little smaller and city of the sky is way too big. 😅

i LOVE ALOT of games in the Zelda series but each game has something in it that makes it hard to go back. OOT has the bottom of the well and gerudo fortress, MM has the masks, pirates fortress and the entire first cycle of the game, WW has the triforce quest SS has the entire first section of the game and getting the songs and TP has everything from beginning of the game to the forest temple, the entire process from after Goron mines to getting to Lakebed temple and the entire process of getting to the city in the sky.
as i know youve said, i can welcome it when it propels the story but yeah, adventuring around to get the characters and doing the game in old Kakariko is ALOT more engaging than goat herding. in my mind, its ALOT more engaging in your first or second playthrough or if you havent played the game in a while, but most of the time as a zelda player, i just wanna beat the game...

  • @daniel8181

I also love the shootout and wish it was longer, but shortly after you touch on something that hits the nail on the head for me:
"Did nintendo think this game needed padding?"
This right here is why botw/totk was always the right direction to move the series, and why the only games in the series I replay are the first two and the (current) last two. I am an adult with responsibility, I cannot dedicate long stretches of time to these games.
Nintendo released oot in the time of the "latch key kids" , where children would have an unusual amount of time away from parents after school that could be spent gaming, so lengthy and padded games (especially rpgs) had no issues gaining traction. All these years later some of those same kids seem to have organized their lives in a way to minimize responsibility and maximize game time - my cousin is an almost stereotype of this...but for those of us who were never latchkey or just found other priorities it seems dreadful to have to dedicate hours at a time to accomplish a simple objective.
Botw, totk, loz, and aol all have the ability to be picked up and played for any amount of time, even only having about an hour of each day I can realistically keep open for focusing on entertainment, I managed to put 300 hours into botw and totk, not because I binged, but because I never felt like I was going to spend that hour hoping to make progress.
I think nintendo had figured this out way back with wwhd, where they actually bothered to reduce fluff because they were finally confident that people care more about good content than more content.

    • @CaptBurgerson

Absolutely. The switch Zelda games were definitely designed with the idea in mind that someone could play for like 15 minutes and still have accomplished something, even if just a small dose

    • @daniel8181

@@CaptBurgerson I just noticed in another video you said you have a family, and I think that makes sense - to me I dread a 40 hour plus game that is going to need me to dedicate two, three hours at a time at a steady pace across several weeks less I lose track of its story or forget its systems.
I recently got vampyr on switch and literally had to schedule time out to beat it because I was left so confused by the game after having dropped it for just a week because I was busy with work. I hate that, I want a game to either last me a single weekend, or remove from me all obligations to finish in a timely manner.
HLTB is, at this point, a required visit every time I see a new game.

      I really don't think so.
As I mentioned in the video, Skyloft was created when the goddess Hylia placed people on an outcropping of land and sent it skyward.
City in the Sky was created and raised into the sky by the Oocca, establishing it as their capital after the formation of the Hylian people.
It just doesn't add up for them to be the same place.
Skyloft is also pretty "natural" as it were. It's all earth that is floating. City in the Sky is like a collection of pods that are all artificial.
