So, to sum up, you need to have a clear intention, your WHY to want to wake up early (meditation and specific goals for yourself can help you find it) , and then you need to give yourself a chance to actually wake up (cold shower, exercise, walking outside) because these things help you regulate your body's rhythms (cortisol, temperature, light). If you do these, it's more likely that the version of you that starts your day is not the groggy, sedated one, but your awake and alert self.

The intention bit really hit hard and got me to tears. I have been trying to change stuff, waking up early, working out, planning in agenda's, keeping track about things in notion, dopamine detoxing, diet, etc. But why I really do it, well because everyone says it better, to be more organized, blah blah blah, but a real intention a real purpose for doing the things that I do. Thinking about it, I don't think I really have it.
So thank you so much for making me realize this. Most of the time just doing stuff is better, then planning everything, but knowing and driving your intention and end goal for your change, can really make that difference I believe.

*The snoozing part is so true.*
Those initial 3-ish minutes after waking up are hell, but then one you, as you said "Give yourself a chance to wake up", you feel full of juice and ready to go.
But whenever I do give myself those 2 extra hours of "sleep" I end up feeling burnt out, 0 energy, 0 motivation, which is strange, because I feel fully rested.
*"Give yourself a chance to wake up"* is a phrase I really like, I'll add it to my arsenal.
If put simply, 6 hours of sleep and instantly waking up is much, much better than 6 hours of sleep and then snoozing for 40-90 minutes.
Idk what it does, but it just kills all the drive. Makes me feel borderline depressed.
I incorporated cold showers into my routine a long time ago, like 2 years ago. And I still feel "egh" before turning the shower handle. But it has become a part of me, and if I don't do it - I feel like *I'm not myself throughout the day.*
*My advice* is, if you have a set of habits you wanna incroporate into your life, don't just jump at them. Take them one by one. And do them for 14-20 days, while gradually adding other things. Kind of rebuild yourself one habit at a time.
Because if you try to incroporate 7 habits at once, saying "I'll wake up a changed man tomorrow", you might go through a couple of days like that. But this wave of motivation will inevitably fade away, and you'll find yourself back at square 1.
I can't really put my finger on another habit that became a part of me like taking cold showers. But I'm working on *"No activities 2 hours before bed (games, sports, intense music)"* and *"Journaling every morning and evening"* but it's not going great, I keep forgetting, since these are the foggiest parts of the day. But making a plan for the day ahead and actually having a mantra of who you are, where you're going and who you wanna be is great. And you must set your days up for reviews, asking yourself questions like "What did I do wrong today?; How can I become better?". These things may seem obvious, bacause you have them in your head as thoughts, but when you put them on paper (or notes app, tablet etc) - that's when they gain weight. *It's like your brain is parenting itself*
And yeah, mostly, I went back to sleep when I didn't have a plan for the day. I knew whan I had to do, but nothing solid, just ideas. I just wanted to want to wake up early.

Then winter hit and I wasnt able to get out as easily, I then slipped into sleeping in, 9, 10, 11 barely crawling out of bed. I've been that way for months now. One thing I wanna point out is that as much as I love the video, some people ARE IN FACT more productive at night, or in other parts of the day, so it's best for them to complete their work during that window. New studies recently found that women feel more productive in the afternoon compared to men and men feel way more productive in the morning compared to women. Obviously it's an average, and I'm aware of that as a woman who wakes up early but I thought I'd mention it. :)

And another advantage of waking up without an alarm is that my body is already awake when I wake up.
P.S. guys don’t try to go to bed 1-2 hour earlier, you probably will just lay in bad and stare at the ceiling. Take it slowly like 10-15 mins a day

Having the sunrise assault my eyes helps me wake up, and when I have my curtains closed I can practically sleep all day. And if you wanna try it and are worried about privacy you can try like a sheer curtain that blocks others view but still lets a lot of light in. I have one and it works pretty well!

I would like to see some science behind the getting more done in the morning vs getting things done in the evening. Because while I‘m for sure no expert on the matter, the little science I have read indicate that there IS a difference in people and when they are most productive. Also a lot of these „bad things“ that you listed happening during the day, which make people less productive in the evening are by no means true for everyone. I would go as far as to say that, I hope they aren’t for most. Really glad to learn though. So if there is some science that indicates what you are saying is true for everyone I would be happy to look into that.

    • @asliceofjackie91
      @asliceofjackie91 14 дней назад

You won't find such science to back his claim because there isn't any. People having different peak levels of hormones and at various times of the day is scientifically studies and tried multiple times. It can be within a normal variation, or even abnormal with people who have things like delayed sleep phase disorder. It is categorically untrue to say that "night owls just think they're more productive in the evening because they haven't given themselves the chance to wake up early".

Your night owl comment is painfully true and it took me decades to learn it. I always said I was a night owl but in reality I was just conditioned to it over years and years of bed at 2 or 3am. Why did I go to bed so late? Because I had less distractions so I felt I got more done. It took me several months but I reprogrammed myself to go to sleep earlier and wake up earlier with purpose and change my environment so I had less distractions and I was just as productive as those late nights plus I felt a hell of a lot better all day. I was fooling myself that I was a night owl for so long I just believed that was how I am.

I’ve felt this super strong feeling of being able to wake up once before recently for an entire week. I was able to get up and function off of 4 hours of sleep everyday. Once I get to where I want to be in terms of waking up, I’ll actually know if I achieved that same level of readiness to do stuff because I’ve literally felt it before.

I would add a fourth one: the morning starts with the night. Being ready to wake up starts with getting enough sleep. Most peope need 7-9 hours of sleep. Plan when you want to get up and go to bed x+.5 hours before that. Sleep is the most crucial aspect.

Still couldn't figure out a reason to stay alive let alone wake up early. Earliest time I go to bed during weekends is 6AM.

The thing that helped me be able to wake up early was, i have to be at work at 7 am... And i have 1.5h travel time... Shit hit hard as a 15 yo. Tho after 3 years, im used to it. If i was able to, you all are as well

Sometimes it seems complicated, but it's all a matter of stimulation and getting used to it, sometimes we're too lazy to try everything, but everything is achievable, I talked a little about this in a video of mine on the channel that's all you can do is if you want it!

I'm sure that this video is helpful for some, but honestly, I think I need more help figuring out how to get to bed early than I do figuring out how to get out of bed early. I'm admittedly a night owl and not really happy with this state of affairs, but I end up spending the entirety of my day either completely wasting time or trying to satisfy a really long to do list which I either stay up late trying to complete or finish by the end of the day resulting in revenge bedtime procrastination. This in turn means I almost never feel fully rested and is a huge reason why I tend to stay in bed a little longer trying to "wake up" or "sleep in" (once I regain consciousness, it's impossible to actually "go back to sleep"). In summary, I was wondering if you could make a video on how to get to bed and fall asleep on time, whatever that ideal time looks like because, as evidenced by the fact that I just watched this at literal midnight, this is one big thing that I really need to fix. Thanks for helping me become a better man and God bless you!

great video man. i know this is irrelevant, but u remind me of those stereotypical high school chad jock bullies from the movies. u've got a deep voice that sounds like your constantly mocking someone and a dead-eyed stare that looks as if your planning some malicious shit. you've even got the middle part hairstyle. all u need is a letterman jacket or something. anyways, great advice. it really helped.

Probably worth mentioning that this will work best for men because their hormones are on a 24hr cycle, women’s hormones are on a (roughly) 28 day cycle - so at different points in your cycle you will feel differently and these tips may not work as well x
