You're slowly gonna wake up early too. Then you can cut your sleep hours a little again while maintaining your wake up time

It's been almost 1 solid week of waking up at 6:06am for me, after years of waking up after 10. For anyone struggling to wake up early: Don't listen to anyone in your life who is putting you down for sleeping in. Guilt will not make you an early bird. Make the change for yourself, and take it easy. Few people will understand the emotional/physical stress you're going through by just trying to get out of bed, but you are not alone. If you want to wake up earlier, you can do it. You'll be surprised by how quickly you can develop a new habit when you focus on your own well being rather than the opinions of those around you. For about 3 months I had the best sleep ever. I would fall asleep at around 11pm and wake up naturally, feeling fresh at 6:30am. It was beautiful. Then I started watching Game of Thrones.

I have some tips to keep yourself fresh after you wake up early. When we wake up early, sometimes we'd feel energized at first but then feeling so sleepy just in 2 or 3 hours later. So what I did to make my body fully 'wake up' is to make my heart beats faster by just a little work out. Doesn't need to make you sweaty, the purpose is just to make your heart beating faster. I just did jumping jacks, plank, and some leg work. And it worked for me! It make me not sleepy Alhamdulillah. I hope this tip can help you🤗

"Don't try to change multiple habits at once, just one" That is really what did it for me. I just focused on waking up and nothing else; not to go get that new work out plan in, not to go learn that new thing. I kept it as simple as possible and I'm really loving the mornings.
I wanted to start going to the gym on a morning rather than after work. I found getting my gym gear ready and placing it by my phone (across the room of course) helped massively! And I totally agree the more you do it the easier it gets…plus you start to miss it when you don’t do it!
For anyone that is in need of some assistance, I learned about this in my college class. The reason why you are tired when you get up is because of at which point in your sleep schedule you actually wake up. You sleep is divided into different parts. I won’t go into the extreme details, but it boils down to deep sleep and light sleep. If you wake up during light sleep, you will feel refreshed and ready to go. If you wake up in deep sleep however, your body will want to go back to sleep. It’s not about the time on the clock, it’s about the time in ur mind.

I studied that these sleep cycle are of 90 min duration and occur 4 to 5 times a night. So you can simply calculate no. of cycles when you go to sleep and set alarm after completion of the cycle. Hope this help😇
Anukriti Arya but the cycles don’t start at the exact same time, which means that your alarm might be slightly off depending on when the cycle actually happens. Plus, you are still going to be tired later in the day due to just pure exhaustion 👍🏼
I love that part about maintaining 1 goal/habit you want to set per month; it was immediately what i thought about with your context leading up to it, and it feels great to hear it once again. Sometimes i set like 5 goals a day, without really pursueing them the next day, and i've been like this for months, maybe a couple of years *yikes*. I guess i just want to make myself happy and feel occupied. But lately, because i do want change, i keep finding/looking for this sort of videos without much exercise. It comes naturally. Years ago I had an alarm clock and its sound was a nightmare. I became angry right away every morning - because of the sound. Then I changed it, got an alarm with nature sounds. It made a huge difference! Now on my phone I'm using the most gentle alarm. The phone is next to the bed ( of course wi-fi is off) I don't have to get up to turn it off. Still, works for me. And I'm not angry anymore in the morning.

My biggest problem is that during the winter the sun is not up at 5am, I fixed this issue by getting Phillips Hue lights that automatically turn on gradually from 4:30-5am to simulate a sunrise :)
I am a muslim, we are obliged to wake up for fajr (dawn prayer), these days the time is between 4 and 6am, i had been struggling for few months to pray my prayer on time and the major reasons were staying up (using phone too much at night) and will power Even if you sleep early but don’t have the will power to get up, sleeping early won’t help, no one wants to leave that cozy bed in the morning, as matt said you need to find a solid reason i.e why do i need to wake up early/on time. Literally turn off any electronic devices you do not need and you’ll see how easy it is to actually focus. Just having your phone near you (even if it’s turned off) can reduce your cognitive performance. So only have the necessary electronic devices needed for your study session. Hope this helps!

idk if this is the case for you but I use to keep my phone on my bed and would never hear it go off but then I moved my phone to my desk at night and I can hear it now
- Have a plan: you need a purpose to wake up in the morning. Clarify your “Why”. Make a to-do list. - put your phone on the other side of the room before bed, don’t use your phone before bed. - turn on the lights and drink water right away. - wake up at the same time every day go to bed only when you are tired. - find someone to keep you accountable, or to make the early morning change with you. - close blinds, use blackout mask, earplugs, rain sounds, etc. - don’t try to introduce a bunch of new habits at once. Focus on the sleeping habit alone for a month. After 1 year you’ll have 12 strong habits.
Literally watching this vid bc my newborn wakes up every morning at 5 for another feed-to-sleep, then toddler wakes me up by 8 giving me no real chance to fall back asleep. Figured I might as well try to roll with it and see if I can just stay up and get something done besides tossing and turning, trying in vain to get five more mins of sleep in.

The alarm away from me thing has never helped me lol. I can sleep anywhere if I’m tired enough. When I was little my parents would drag me out of bed and I would go sleep in the pile of clean laundry then be found and yelled at for missing the bus😂
I am the walrus the real trick is to keep the alarm away from you and also get the worst and loudest noise possible. I hate the sound of my alarm so much that I get terrified of it whenever I get out of the habit of using it, and then I’m subconsciously scared of it while I’m asleep so I wake up before the alarm.
When I was 11ish I had a similar problem- I would put my alarm across the room, and it would wake me up. I'd go across the room and turn it off, and then I'd fall asleep on the darn floor! Later we found out I had anemia... figures.

I wake up at 5:30 before I go to school and go for a run. I highly recommend you try it out for at least two days. The benefits are that you won’t be tired for the rest of the school day and you will have better focus in class. The run doesn’t have to be long, can be just a 3k. Another benefit is that you are never late to class 😊
Hey I do this as well, also with one of my friends to keep me motivated. Or sometimes I just simply wake up early to read some books that I'm interested in before school. Morning is such a good time to pursue your passion and it feels like I'm more in control of my own life. It started off tough though, it's not easy to get used to waking up early but it definitely is a good change in pace of life.
In the summer, I always woke up at 6 in the morning and I really enjoyed it, but now the school has ruined everything, so I watch this video because I want to go back. Great video!❤️

These tips are great! Here's something I found that worked for me as a last ditch effort when all else failed: the night before when you have higher motivation levels, write down on a piece of paper the exact time you are going to wake up in the morning and then sign it with your name. Place the contract with your alarm clock on the other side of the room. I found it almost impossible to go back to bed after seeing my own signed contract to be awake at 6am. Hope that helps someone!

Things that I do: - washing my face with cold water as I don't like showering in the morning - starting the day with something I enjoy (to me that's a good book and a cup of tea) - stepping outside to breathe for a minute or two - taking a little walk (doesn't have to be long just to move your body a little) - watching the sunset - being creative - little to no screen time cause I find that it puts me in a rut and generally not a good headspace

Make the change for yourself, and take it easy. Few people will understand the emotional/physical stress you're going through by just trying to get out of bed, but you are not alone. I have some tips to keep yourself fresh after you wake up early.
When we wake up early, sometimes we'd feel energized at first but then feeling so sleepy just in 2 or 3 hours later. So what I did to make my body fully 'wake up' is to make my heart beats faster by just a little work out. Doesn't need to make you sweaty, the purpose is just to make your heart beating faster. I just did jumping jacks, plank, and some leg work. And it worked for me! It make me not sleepy Alhamdulillah.

1.Why did I want to wake up early in the morning back when I started waking up in the morning?
• So I can trigger all other things I want to do in my morning routine, I mean what do you think I would do after I wake up 5 am? stare at the wall, NO ofcourse not. I prayed, worked out, did some deep work, read a few pages of a book, took time to take care of my personal hygiene, selfcare and look and feel great for the day. That is really what did it for me. I just focused on waking up and nothing else; not to go get that new work out plan in, not to go learn that new thing. I kept it as simple as possible and I'm really loving the mornings.

I wanted to start going to the gym on a morning rather than after work. I found getting my gym gear ready and placing it by my phone (across the room of course) helped massively! And I totally agree the more you do it the easier it gets…plus you start to miss it when you don’t do it!
For anyone that is in need of some assistance, I learned about this in my college class. The reason why you are tired when you get up is because of at which point in your sleep schedule you actually wake up. You sleep is divided into different parts. I won’t go into the extreme details, but it boils down to deep sleep and light sleep. If you wake up during light sleep, you will feel refreshed and ready to go. If you wake up in deep sleep however, your body will want to go back to sleep. It’s not about the time on the clock, it’s about the time in ur mind.
S K Z only hurts your sleep schedule, doing it on a consistent basis will throw off your sleep schedule over time, decreasing productivity and daily efficiency
REM cycles, i studied psychology and sleep for a year and a half. It's interesting stuff
I studied that these sleep cycle are of 90 min duration and occur 4 to 5 times a night.
So you can simply calculate no. of cycles when you go to sleep and set alarm after completion of the cycle. Hope this help😇
Anukriti Arya but the cycles don’t start at the exact same time, which means that your alarm might be slightly off depending on when the cycle actually happens. Plus, you are still going to be tired later in the day due to just pure exhaustion 👍🏼

Years ago I had an alarm clock and its sound was a nightmare. I became angry right away every morning - because of the sound. Then I changed it, got an alarm with nature sounds. It made a huge difference! Now on my phone I'm using the most gentle alarm. The phone is next to the bed ( of course wi-fi is off) I don't have to get up to turn it off. Still, works for me. And I'm not angry anymore in the morning.

My biggest problem is that during the winter the sun is not up at 5am, I fixed this issue by getting Phillips Hue lights that automatically turn on gradually from 4:30-5am to simulate a sunrise :)

idk if this is the case for you but I use to keep my phone on my bed and would never hear it go off but then I moved my phone to my desk at night and I can hear it now

- put your phone on the other side of the room before bed, don’t use your phone before bed.
- turn on the lights and drink water right away.
- wake up at the same time every day
go to bed only when you are tired.
- find someone to keep you accountable, or to make the early morning change with you.
- close blinds, use blackout mask, earplugs, rain sounds, etc.
- don’t try to introduce a bunch of new habits at once. Focus on the sleeping habit alone for a month. After 1 year you’ll have 12 strong habits.

The alarm away from me thing has never helped me lol. I can sleep anywhere if I’m tired enough. When I was little my parents would drag me out of bed and I would go sleep in the pile of clean laundry then be found and yelled at for missing the bus😂
I am the walrus the real trick is to keep the alarm away from you and also get the worst and loudest noise possible. I hate the sound of my alarm so much that I get terrified of it whenever I get out of the habit of using it, and then I’m subconsciously scared of it while I’m asleep so I wake up before the alarm.
When I was 11ish I had a similar problem- I would put my alarm across the room, and it would wake me up. I'd go across the room and turn it off, and then I'd fall asleep on the darn floor! Later we found out I had anemia... figures.
@@lilikatz5431 Haha I shared a room with my sister for years, and for a while, I had to get up before she did. Each morning I tried to turn the alarm off quickly, as to not wake her up, which meant I was on consent alert waiting for the alarm's sound. It got to the point that any sort of alarm or beeping, even in the middle of the day, would make me jump, heart racing- even if I was the one who had set the alarm! 😂😂

I wake up at 5:30 before I go to school and go for a run. I highly recommend you try it out for at least two days. The benefits are that you won’t be tired for the rest of the school day and you will have better focus in class. The run doesn’t have to be long, can be just a 3k. Another benefit is that you are never late to class 😊

Hey I do this as well, also with one of my friends to keep me motivated. Or sometimes I just simply wake up early to read some books that I'm interested in before school. Morning is such a good time to pursue your passion and it feels like I'm more in control of my own life. It started off tough though, it's not easy to get used to waking up early but it definitely is a good change in pace of life.

These tips are great! Here's something I found that worked for me as a last ditch effort when all else failed: the night before when you have higher motivation levels, write down on a piece of paper the exact time you are going to wake up in the morning and then sign it with your name. Place the contract with your alarm clock on the other side of the room. I found it almost impossible to go back to bed after seeing my own signed contract to be awake at 6am. Hope that helps someone!

- washing my face with cold water as I don't like showering in the morning
- starting the day with something I enjoy (to me that's a good book and a cup of tea)
- stepping outside to breathe for a minute or two
- taking a little walk (doesn't have to be long just to move your body a little)

- being creative
- little to no screen time cause I find that it puts me in a rut and generally not a good headspace
