Hello everyone, new RUclipsr from Greece here, I do motivational/educational videos and I just uploaded a new video about How Quarantine Affected Me. I would appreciate a lot any type of support. 💕
For anyone just reading the title and not watching the video, spoiler alert: HE DOESN'T STAY PRODUCTIVE ALL DAY! He is intentional with his time, he does his best, he works hard towards his goals, but it isn't the perfect routine that everybody thinks they're supposed to have (which is actually unattainable). Matt, I'm proud of you! Thank you for showing us that you can be productive without being perfect
How to Stay productive each day 1. Walk up early 🕒 2. Have a to-do list 3. Schedule item to the time 4. Get to work early 5. Don't eat early 6. Prepare your meal on the weekend 7. Avoid Social Media in the daytime 8. Be consistent and stay focus 9. Take a 20-minute break for every 2hours of work 10. Eat your first meal around 11 am 11. Check your to-do list to confirm if everything is okay 12. Sleep early (mental health is important) 13. Stop procrastinating
when you eat very early, your body will start relaxing. It's proven that your early 90 minutes in the morning can produce better results when put to work than your 180 minutes in the afternoon.
@@solorosco this is so strange, as in Asian countries we always get advises from the doctors that we should never miss breakfast as it is the most important meal in the day to give you energy for working. By the way, thanks for your summary

This video is oddly reassuring. I’m conducting my doctoral research, teaching, and running an agency. Most days I am lucky if I write one paragraph, read one article, and maybe review a file. Getting a walk in feels like a treat.
i feel you. i am doing general research and that one paragraph per day kills me. most days feels like i should have done more. but at the end of the day i say to myself that thats enough
Please do more “day in the life” vids. I found you’re process so much more achievable knowing you can have a healthy mix of realistic expectation of goal setting, mixed in with every day life mishaps and happy accidents.
I really enjoyed seeing this more organic, not so scripted Matt! I mean, nothing wrong with the other videos, they're great! But i feel like I connected with you more specifically through this one 😊
2 amazing things in this video: 1. A freaking dope peek behind the scenes of a creator I admire and respect 2. Seeing that same creator be a complete child with his wife--which makes me respect them both even more Amazing work, as always, Matt!
I thought that It will be “you all day working” and when you said “I just finish my workday” at 4:pm...i was mind blowing. I keep thinking that productivity is doing work relates stuff all the time...you could make one of this per month! We need more realistic productivity 🙏🏻
I really enjoyed how raw this material was. Someone like me, who struggles with wanting my routine to be perfect and letting go of it when I can't stick to that idealized routine, this was a really nice reality check on there is no such thing as perfect schedule and perfect commitment. Haven't got to the end of the vid yet, but, as a 3 year follower, I can say this is one of the most enjoyable and personal work you've already put on RUclips. Just wanted to compliment you on this, made me very happy :)
This was one of my favourite videos from you because you authentically showed when things weren't going as planned. I'm personally fine with this off camera, but when I'm on camera vlogging, I can get irritated when things don't go as planned, but you embraced it and captured the raw, authentic version of your day. Beyond that, it also gave incredible insights not only to productivity, but also film making and creation. Great video, Matt. Thank you.
Pro tip: use a drill (if you have one lying around) to spin the grinder! (The chuck screws right where the handle connects) I used this trick for a long time before I invested in a bigger/fancier grinder... but then again, manual grinding might be your secret to those biceps 💪
This video feels like an enormous relief!!! It feels amazing to see that someone like you, who obviously work really hard and know how to work well, struggles with the same issues as I do. It makes me hope for progress but also helps me accept the things I can’t change! THANK YOU 🙏🏼

I've heard the spiders in Australia are HUGE, I can only assume whatever Nat had was bigger than normal. AHH! Casual meets productive. Good routine you've got! I really needed this today. I'm writing my MA thesis over the next three days and have been struggling to complete it for months. Thank you Matt for the amazing content and tips.
The trick is to have _something_ to get rid of all the junk that crowds the mind throughout the day. For me that cure is meditation. It does wonders for your productivity
lately I have been contemplating this weird "acheivers loop" that I've found myself and you spoke to it in this video. you have expectations to accomplish something in a day and because of your nature, it's an ambitious goal even if you may not think so on the onset. you work your ass off to achieve it. you fall short but feel as though you need a break. you can't enjoy the break because you don't believe you've earned it. so you set another ambitious goal the next time you go to work to make up for what you "failed at." the loop starts again. really cultivating a sense of belief that you deserve rest seems so cheesy and for achievers, kind of produces a syntax error. however, the only reason we do anything is to have a better life. to be able to fully immerse yourself in rest, celebration or relaxation is to augment your human experience and is necessary for a better life. easier said than done but i'll figure it out. decaf coffee helps.
Love how straight forward this video is. It's not kicking butt for 16 hours a day like some us strive for but a more realistic view of what it is to be happy and productive at the same time. Great vid
😄 and me! I noticed that I get more productive if I have a blank diary page and I write down what I have accomplished once I have accomplished it... The other way around, basically... weird, isn't it? 😄
Matt, genuinely thank you so much for being real with us about how productive most days are for you as well as the regret at the end of 4 pm. I can always use a reality check to bring balance to my productivity expectations.
I can't be the only one who binge watches videos about productivity and how to not procrastinate instead of actually stopping to procrastinating and working 😭
i truly loved how realistic this was. i consider myself to be very good at productivity but i recently realized that it's normal to need more time for certain tasks, or to have something get in the way
This was helpful for me because I’m a mom of 3 small children, a wife of a firefighter, I homeschool because my son has autism, i also work from home. Everyday around 3 o’clock I want to give up on everything. my point is that it’s nice to know I am not weak. I am just like everyone else trying to get things done with not enough time in the day.
Hello, first of all I'd like to say you're doing the most important job of rising your children while balancing your work life. You're a lot stronger than you give yourself credit for. Just by being there and helping your kids study you're shaping their future.I'm 23 years old and in past 10 years i've seen many people giving up or running away from this responsibility, How women put up with and balance their lives it still amazes me. My parents had so much financial trouble bringing me up but they put up with it for my future and I can confidently say I'm a much much better man because of their relentless efforts and dedication I hope your efforts pay off in a similar way and your kids adore you and your husband for the countless hours you spent shaping their future
Thanks for sharing this. At the end of the video, I thought: "He's a normal person, he's just like everyone" And don't get wrong, this is a good thing. Now, I feel less guilty for not being a perfect robot.
I like this video because it's real. Not overly cut and edited content where the creator gets 100% of everything planned done, with robotic 100% efficiency.
why was this so wholesome ahhh? I think when you make videos about productivity/habits etc, the videos can come across quite cold/overly serious but this was v different in its lightheartedness!! Definitely like that blend of hard work and silliness.
I am practicing "consistent deadlines" as well.... and I feel unaccomplished at the end of the day too (even though I've done a lot)! I'm struggling with time management at Uni at the moment... So, this was inspiring to know you're human :D
Time blocks (scheduled) combined with an awareness of thoughts leading you down paths of distraction is the magic formula in my opinion. Thoughts like, "Oh I forgot to check X", "Notification pops op", "Urge to check Instagram", etc. - one thought, if acted upon, can lead you to an entire day of distraction. Being able to not act on these inevitable thoughts is TRUE power when it comes to focus, and life in general.
I come back to this video anytime I need a boost or a reminder that life doesn't have to be dreary all the time. Today, I needed to remember that I only have 3 deadlines tomorrow, and they are easy tasks. Sunday scaries are real, but that doesn't mean they can't be overcome. Thanks Matt!
This was a reminder that productivity influencers have the same setbacks curveballs, and drops of motivation that we all do. It’s all about turning up and doing the work. Thanks Matt
What I love about this video is that you show how imperfect your day was. It is far too easy to construct the perfect day for the sake of the video. It reminds me to silence my inner perfectionist and realise my day will never be 100% efficient, and it doesn’t need to be. 💪
The most millennial day I ever seen haha but I love the honesty in the video - when you slacking off you show it - when you having fun not sticking to plan - you show it. That's why I love your videos! Most videos on yt like this are just flexing on viewers like "look at my awesome life" ( GOD DAMN YOU DREY DREXLER type shit) KEEP IT UP!
I don't know how but your movies always make me relax. Probobly BC of vibe and concent that is showing me everything I can manage in easy way.Thank you.
Hi Matt, here's a manual grinder tip that will save you a TON of work: Remove the grinder's handle, get a drill, insert the tip of the grinder top into the drill's chuck, tighten it and let it rip! You'll have freshly ground coffee in no time!! P.S. I have the same grinder, it hasn't failed me yet but this method is not exactly stealthy.
This was so much fun to watch! Thank you for bringing us through the genuine struggles of your daily life (love that you too have breakdowns as a productivity RUclipsr) and showing your goofy interactions with Natalie. From a fellow Sydneysider / aspiring RUclipsr, Lucy.
Different Country, different work, but same issues of missing my time estimates, avoiding distractions & always feeling behind & that I didn’t accomplish enough (4 pm meltdown) Thanks for the real life - love your work!
It's 5pm and I just woke up and still have not got out of bed. My sleep has been messed up for weeks. I live with my parents right now (19 years old) and only wake up for online lectures, food and to go to the bathroom. You could say I'm depressed but that might make out that it's not my fault, which it totally is. I'm just a lazy piece of shit right now. I want to fix my sleep but I just can't seem to wake up earlier than my body wants to unless there's something I can't miss (dental appointments, lectures etc). I spend the rest of the day being a shitty family member, not having any energy or will to help out with chores or spend time with my family who are very nice people. Once I'm awake you'll most likely find me slouching at my PC, playing games that I'm not even sure I enjoy, destroying my posture and eyesight among many other things. I really hope I can find motivation somehow, by RUclips videos like this or by something else. I could have switched to another RUclips account in order to stay anonymous however it's 5:30pm, I've procrastinated even writing this comment and I'm lazy af. Time is ticking by and I still haven't gotten out of bed. If anyone is invested in this comment, I may try and improve my life and keep you updated but I've said that before to myself many times and I'm still like this so not likely If anyone who knows me reads this, please just ignore it and never bring it up, thank you :)
Soon your whole youth will get away from your grasp,3 years from now you'll feel empty,You'll regret wasting your youth and you'll regret ever spending so much time with virtual things that aren't worth it. The people around you are the people that care about you so don't take them for granted or you'll regret it as well. I've been where you've been, and there are so much things I regret not doing because of this damn technology era. For now,you won't regret anything, you'd feel like you care nothing of what's happening around you. Technology for now is like a way out of this cruel horrible reality. You'll think living like this will last forever but time will always make you reconsider things and see things from a different angle. Watching videos like these won't help, neither will spending time reading articles on how to be productive, until something that impacts in our lives will make us wake up to the cruel reality. In life we have to look for purpose or we'd only live empty like this.
Bro! It’s ok, it will get better!! David Goggins helped me to start exercising in the morning and everything else just fell into place including my sleeping schedule. I’d wake up at 6 looking forward to my morning home gym since regular gyms are still closed. My energy level is high. Highly recommend!!
Aside from the total unprecedented quarantine and change of lifestyle, I related to your comment a bit. I don't assume to know what you're going through. But when I was around your age, I was lethargic and attending school but not motivated to do so or even sure of what I wanted. I would procrastinate or stay inside, rarely speaking with friends. Even to this day I have trouble opening up or speaking from the places that direct my behavior at times. Sometimes this is our spirit's way of communicating that we're not ok. The only problem I see is that you might not be articulating why you're behaving this way if you don't want to behave this way. Please consider journaling. Or any other method of expression and reflection like learning an instrument, art, a sport, hobby, etc. You might find answers your spirit buried deep. At 19, you've learned enough language so the answers will have to come from within, not likely from external sources. You are admirably holding yourself accountable and I hope you would give yourself some slack too. Forgive yourself if or whenever you feel disappointed. You may or may not have trauma but you're dealing with plenty of changes. Hopefully your parents are supportive and not chastising too badly. Update if you give anything a chance.
I'm so sorry to hear this! Also remember there's a pandemic on, so be kind to yourself. One of the best ways to spend time at the moment in my opinion is to get outdoors - it really helps with productivity too! It also helps ground you that the world is still turning and that you'll be OK. Even if you're getting up at 5pm, try and set an alarm for slightly earlier every day until you're waking up at a time in the morning instead! If you try to go for waking up at 7am right away after sleeping at 4 or 5am every day, you're unlikely to succeed. Best of luck - be kind to yourself!
Honestly Matt: big THANK YOU for uploading this one. I think it’s vital that we all get an opportunity to see the ones we look up to in the process of genuine but healthy struggle.
Thank you for uploading this content on my birthday. It took me a while to watch it but I loved seeing how another creative person gets distracted while getting things done. Makes me feel not alone in that. That is the story of my life.
I appreciate the time you took to try and help people better their life but I'm going to stick to my current daily routine. 9:00 AM - Wake up and get up from the floor. 9:02 AM - Consume an obscene amount of cinnamon toast crunch. 9:16 AM: Stick a fork into the wall socket and lose consciousness for 23 hours and 44 minutes.
Thank you SO much for sharing this! Sounds like you need to make a todo list for your todo list.
😄 and me! I noticed that I get more productive if I have a blank diary page and I write down what I have accomplished once I have accomplished it... The other way around, basically... weird, isn't it? 😄
I ususally put making to-do list on top of my to-do list, because it's so good when I'm done I can already cross it out
I just love this channel.

Matt, genuinely thank you so much for being real with us about how productive most days are for you as well as the regret at the end of 4 pm. I can always use a reality check to bring balance to my productivity expectations.
This is How I stay productive all day,
*I don't stay productive all day*
*quite a big brain moment*
Good point
Yesn't
i mean if wrote in your to-do list don't be productive and you weren't productive then technically you're productive
Lol true though he takes more breaks from work in a day than anyone who has a real job. His strategy for staying productive is to not work that much.
I can't be the only one who binge watches videos about productivity and how to not procrastinate instead of actually stopping to procrastinating and working 😭
I love your honesty about how long it took to shoot those morning establishing shots. This stuff takes work!
i truly loved how realistic this was. i consider myself to be very good at productivity but i recently realized that it's normal to need more time for certain tasks, or to have something get in the way
This was helpful for me because I’m a mom of 3 small children, a wife of a firefighter, I homeschool because my son has autism, i also work from home. Everyday around 3 o’clock I want to give up on everything. my point is that it’s nice to know I am not weak. I am just like everyone else trying to get things done with not enough time in the day.
I have 3 kids too and feel the same, yesterday I was crying because my 7 year old didn’t want to do his homework. I felt like running away girl 🏃♀️
Hey you too, you are doing great job! Be proud of you!
My parents had so much financial trouble bringing me up but they put up with it for my future and I can confidently say I'm a much much better man because of their relentless efforts and dedication
I hope your efforts pay off in a similar way and your kids adore you and your husband for the countless hours you spent shaping their future
Easily your BEST video so far, felt like I got to know you in a different way this time! Thank you for bringing us along 😊
That biceps.
Natalie is soooo adorable, love her personality!
I cannot pinpoint exactly why it was, but this was a very special video. I loved it. Thank you Matt and Natalie for giving us such great content.

Thanks Matt
‘How I stay productive all day’
Me: oo I’ll just watch that then I’ll get to work
I say this like 10 times per day 😂
coffee + matt’s new productivity video = perfect way to start the day
Watching videos bout productivity makes me productive🤙🏻
I dont know why but your channel is a daily routine for me, plus u have changed my life alot and some others
What I love about this video is that you show how imperfect your day was. It is far too easy to construct the perfect day for the sake of the video. It reminds me to silence my inner perfectionist and realise my day will never be 100% efficient, and it doesn’t need to be. 💪
Loving the vlogging style, would be interested in this being a semi-regular feature on the channel, cheers Matt
In my experience, grinding beans is a great morning routine for waking me up, IF the cold shower didn't do the job xD
there s legit no way a cold shower doesnt wake u up ahaha
bro. cold showers are a torture.....
@@TheTheoser ikr I could never..
@@hamzanasri9414 lol. I have tried it a couple of times. And i feel i am dead from the waist down. 😬
@@TheTheoser bruh 😖 rip
The most millennial day I ever seen haha but I love the honesty in the video - when you slacking off you show it - when you having fun not sticking to plan - you show it. That's why I love your videos! Most videos on yt like this are just flexing on viewers like "look at my awesome life" (
GOD DAMN YOU DREY DREXLER type shit) KEEP IT UP!
Matt...just want to let you know I appreciate the amount of effort it takes to make these videos...you are a class act!
"No it does not take me an hour to brush my teeth and make coffee"
must be nice
i was thinkin that too lmao
Not the universe giving me a sign by recommending this while im procratinating...
That's to encourage your procrastination with another 20 mins :)
The Australia Vs USA gun bit was amazing.
If anyone is invested in this comment, I may try and improve my life and keep you updated but I've said that before to myself many times and I'm still like this so not likely
If anyone who knows me reads this, please just ignore it and never bring it up, thank you :)
"So how does that look Nat?"
"It looks shit!"
😂
Honestly Matt: big THANK YOU for uploading this one. I think it’s vital that we all get an opportunity to see the ones we look up to in the process of genuine but healthy struggle.
Thank you for uploading this content on my birthday. It took me a while to watch it but I loved seeing how another creative person gets distracted while getting things done. Makes me feel not alone in that. That is the story of my life.
If anyone can grind beans it’s Matt! Clearly the gyms been blessing him 💪
OOOO yes, I like this switch up of taking us through your entire day!!

I've been feeling disheartened from a lot of productivity youtube lately because I've come to the conclusion that I can't achieve that specific lifestyle, even though I've gotten better with my habits. SOoOOoOooo it was really heartwarming to me to see your *authentic* day in the life. I haven't seen this type of video enough and I think it's just what the world needs right now. Thanks again!
After a couple months trying to figure things out as a content creator coming from a chefs background it was really relieving to see that I'm not the only one who has regular breakdowns!
Me watching this after wasting my whole day watching RUclips: It ain’t familiar.
Same.
Same.
why nobody talks about how he softened his voice when he said "thanks honey" ?
I wait so long for every Matt d’avella video he is the GOAT
True! He's my biggest inspiration.
I just want to echo a lot of other comments here and say I really enjoyed this video. It felt really authentic and not over-produced. Even happy, successful people struggle sometimes. We’ve all been there!
I want to say how much I appreciate y'all sharing how messy your productivity is too. I love learning ways to optimize my productivity but life is messy and I'm glad it's not just me!
Blowing out the candle with a light switch. That's even more impressive than the biceps.
Good eye! :D
I did get confused at this part🤯

How to get likes
