Am i the only one who actually wanted them to show us the actual days going by as she enjoys or dislikes this lifestyle, not just the decluttering process?
Yes I agree. They definitely could've done this in 2 video parts. First the decluttering process, and then how she had to deal with it throughout the week.
Honestly, the "decluttering is a chore.. who wants to do a chore? Oh wait, you do" is soooo relevant. I'm also a minimalist/organizer and a while back my husband was answering a question about what I like to do and he said "you like to organize" and my immediate reaction was "no, it's a necessity!" but I kept thinking about it and... I realized... I *do* like to organize O_O It's such a refreshing feeling to reset your space or optimize your routine (which has inevitably shifted or changed in some way over the course of a few months)!
Natalie is so ... Soo.. it just made me very happy to watch her energy. She didn't like doing this but atleast she wasn't complaining all the time. Like I would have. She is the kind of person who uplifts people around her!
Yeah and then at minute 9 they change places, just as the experiment evolves with Natalie slowly becoming like Matt. So now Matt has to try not being a minimalist I guess! (Probably will never happen)
Obviously it's staged to be silly, but you'd have to be a true lunatic to sleep in jeans. Matt, please tell us you're ok, and that was added for the pastiche.
Yeah I was a huge materialist before I wanted to become a minimalist. I haven't met my goal as a minimalist yet but I'm working on it. My goal isn't to have the least amount of items possible in total, but to get rid of the unwanted and cluttering items, and appreciate the items that serves a purpose.
Holmes245 About 20 years ago, our next door neighbours were this married couple and their teenage son. The wife was always dressed immaculately. One day my four year old daughter locked me out of the house so I ran next door to use their phone quickly. When I walked in...it was like an episode of hoarders. Only enough room to walk a tiny path to each room and the phone was sitting on stacks of stuff piled up. I was stunned. She used to walk out the door looking gorgeous every day yet the inside of the house looked like a dump. I felt so sad for their little family. 🥺
Matt: Do you use all these condiments? Natalie: Yes. Matt: Do you get value out of all these condiments? Natalie: Yes. Matt: You can keep the condiments. Natalie: Yay! My favorite part of the whole video.
Catherine Bronte Uh, how exactly? The point of the video is for Nat to try minimalism for a week. Plus he ASKED FOR CONSENT FIRST. I don’t understand how you see this as controlling

Being poor is actually not a minimalism because you want to own things, but you can´t. Minimalism is about being able to buy the stuff but don´t wan´t to do it.
Davko Bakowski, thanks for clarifying. I’m such a fool not to recognise the distinction. When I have £5 and need food to get me to next week, I’ll put down the butter at the supermarket and keep it in my pocket. Maybe I’ll save up the money and pay someone to feng-shui up my living room.
I find it so interesting how a minimalist and a nonminimalsit can live together seemingly harmoniously. I love it! I assumed that Matt as a minimalist would be super agitated by Nats things around him at all times. Do you just kind of block them out since they are not yours?
The beauty about being a minimalist is that everyone can have their own version and pace. You don’t need to have just 1 thing but even smaller cut backs are progress.

My girls and I loved this one! Natalie is awesome. We loved how she tried it but did not like it. I respect both of you so much for respecting each other's differences. Way to go. The Stanton Family
So happy to see she tried and went back to hoarding which makes her happy! I was a hoarder and had to pack my entire life in 23 kgs as I decided to move abroad. I thought I could be a minimalist here but I see how stressful it is to start life from scratch again, find a job amidst a pandemic and the one thing that gives me joy is shopping! I understand I am depleting my savings but I have become more conscious now. I think I've landed somewhere between a minimalist and a hoarder. Finding a balance to bring me joy and support the economy as I'd like to call it :D
7:10 "Left with only 33 items to wear over the next 7 days" I can't believe this. I do not consider myself a minimalist, but if you don't count underwear, the things I wear over one week are 1 jeans, 3-4 shirts, 1 hoody + sports clothing for training. How is it even possible to wear so much stuff :O
The actual challenge is supposed to be 33 items for 3 months, I believe. Nat just only wanted to commit for one week. I think I would try for one month. Just tough for me because I’m not really great at doing laundry on a regular basis. 😱
I think my favorite quote from this is "I don't have a problem to solve." A lot of people take on these mental models or life philosophies because it is trendy, it's good to know that she is truly considering what she needs out of life. Great video, Matt!
This was definitely fun to watch! I tried minimalism too and I relate to Natalie. I love my stuff! I enjoy life more with it. I got bored with only a few make-up items and outfits. I do like food minimalism however because when you have too much, some of it gets forgotten and expires. Plus, I try to only keep fresh foods that I know I will eat because I hate wasting food. Therefor, the fridge looks bare, but it contains only what I know I can eat in a couple of days. And then I shop again :).
For me it was having places for the other person where they can have all their stuff but I don't see it. So lots of stuff in their home office and stored in their desk/bookcase. Or stored in their side of the wardrobe and I don't have to see it (as I see it as clutter and mess). For communal rooms it's finding the balance of personalities. So some things are out (vinyls, video games) but done in a tidy and more aesthetically pleasing way so it doesn't look like clutter. It can be an ongoing struggle though 😅
Because Matt and Nat have brains capable of understanding that other people do not affect them so there opposing life styles do not offend one another.
As someone who doesn’t own a lot of clothes, even I’m interested in doing this. I’ve always had what i refer to as a “uniform” with my clothes. Usually every few years i switch it up. But it largely stays the same.

Ive decluttered a lot over the years, but never gone full minimilast. However, even for a woman, my mom says I dont have that many clothes. I always thought I did.

13:24 that is so cute! And I see she done that earlier in the video too. Interesting video overall and good to see you’re both so different in a material aspect yet you both work so well together, love the prank clips by the way. 😅
As a person who does a few too many things I have to say that cleaning up your device is a constant work in progress. My desktop looks actually close to that but I have stuff organized. It s just that there is too much stuff sometimes. Sometimes it may actually take a whole weekend to make progress on making things barely functional on my devices. And I believe a definitive organization system is long... long overdue. But each time I try to make one there is always something missing. At the moment I have a sort of fractional organization thing. Which has started not working, again. I actually get depressed just by thinking of it.
Looking at this I am feeling quite proud of myself about being super organised in the tech department. I have all backups on multiple clouds and HDD. My desktop is black background with stacks and everything is sitting in Launchpad and not on the bar.
I've just moved and have been thinking of using quarantine's extra free time to apply some minimalism principles in my new place. wish me luck! ps: you and nat acting together is EVERYTHING TO ME 🤣🤣🤣
So how do u guys co exist when one is a hard core minimalist and the other not so much? Please explain some of the challenges and how you guys over came those challenges. Thanks. 🤍

6:40 ... Hygge is a Danish word for feeling cozy, just in a bit other way. Like sitting under a roof when its raining. I liked that she used that word!
Everyone's like "omg i love minimalism" "it totally changes your life!" ...and I'm just here like omg Natalie is just the cutest😭😭😭😍
I like the way you handled natalie for not forcing her to become a minimalist.of course, she loves you that's why.its hard to maintain being a minimalist because i have childrens of 3.every now & then we organized things and to be brought inside the house.so,goodluck to us.
"There is only room for one Matt in this apartment"
Well according to minimalism, there is room for MANY Matts in that apartment.
@@pidgeonnboi3311 but according to minimalism that is too many of the same thing 🤭
@@abhijithis9424 Have you seen how many of the same shirts Matt owns? haha
Wow, this is awesome! I might just get rid all of my clothes and just wear the same thing everyday (all the same color shirts and maybe two jeans of the same color). I have always considered it.
The bicep curl was my favourite part of the video 😂😂
When you actually realize he REALLY wears only 1-2 tshirts 😂
I own 2 pairs of trousers. 5 tshirts, 1 shirt... I own 20 pairs of the same style of socks so I never have odd socks. It's liberating trust me.
Turn them inside out and you have 4 xD jk
@@NaeMuckle can confirm, owning the exact same socks is the BEST. pairing laundry socks is so much faster when you don't have to set aside a sock to be matched with one buried somewhere in the basket
@@intri8116 I also do US Ranger Rolls each week . T-shirt, underwear and socks rolled up in a bundle for the 5 days of my working week. I just pick up a bundle every morning and I'm all set.
when you actually realize that you watched a whole video about his wardrobe so you know all the details about his clothes
This video popped up in my feed out of the blue, and I've just gotta say it was such a joy to watch! Your dynamic is adorable! ☺️
"What might look like absolute chaos is a very organized system in my head."
Yeeeees I know right but after a month it's just chaos hahahahaha
It's beautiful to see the love and respect for one another.
I must say though.. I really truly don't feel overwhelmed by my full closet and 200 pairs of shoes.. I finds 10% joy there..maybe I would save money..for sure
13:44: "whether you wanna become a minimalist or 'nat'......"
/pun intended
Can you make a video with her on specifics and in depth tips on how to improve your skin care and have a better looking face?
13:24 that is so cute! And I see she done that earlier in the video too. Interesting video overall and good to see you’re both so different in a material aspect yet you both work so well together, love the prank clips by the way. 😅
Easiest way to become a minimalist - deliberately go broke by investing all your money
Now would be a perfect timing (stock crash)
Minimalism is different with being broke.
Oh my gosh. When she was in the same outfit as you making your coffee. Hahaha! 🤣 Loved this
Lol I find it weirdly funny that you said the words ‘project 333’ at exactly the 3:33 mark. Wonder if you planned that.
Wth I’m early for once. I’m used to watching years old content randomly recommended to me
As a person who does a few too many things I have to say that cleaning up your device is a constant work in progress.
“Organised chaos” is Natalie’s moto 😂🙏🏼❤️
Looking at this I am feeling quite proud of myself about being super organised in the tech department. I have all backups on multiple clouds and HDD. My desktop is black background with stacks and everything is sitting in Launchpad and not on the bar.
It 12:37 AM in India but still going to watch this ❤️✌️
I've just moved and have been thinking of using quarantine's extra free time to apply some minimalism principles in my new place. wish me luck!
ps: you and nat acting together is EVERYTHING TO ME 🤣🤣🤣
So how do u guys co exist when one is a hard core minimalist and the other not so much? Please explain some of the challenges and how you guys over came those challenges. Thanks. 🤍

Re-chi wonderful 😊🤍
Nat’s wardrobe is so fun!! She’s so stylish
Remember that text he was writing to himself "stop trying things for 30 days"? I think he added "try it on your wife"
5:08 she's so in love with you Matt just look at that face!!
I loved it when Nat put her face in your palm. You two are sooo cute😊
To be a minimalist is so easy in the digital age. I dont know how people can even have so much stuff at home. You can have music/films/tv-series/games etc all on 1 PC. Its so easy for me
