- Hi Everyone! 💖
3 Ways to Half Double Crochet
Half Double Crochet (hdc). This is my favorite stitch and I really wanted to use it in different ways, so I thought I’d show you 3 ways to use it.
I’m sure these stitches have actual names, but I don’t know what they are called. Haha! I love to make up things as I go along and this is one of those times.
I hope that this will encourage you to find other new stitches and be creative. Crocheting doesn’t really have any rules, so feel free to experiment!

I just found you. I am a brand new crocheter. I haven't even crocheted anything yet. I've just done swatches of basic stitches. I've been watching one particular channel and the teacher is very good. But, speaking only for myself, as good as she was, I wanted to check out other channels. You are fabulous! I understand what your saying and doing and I can easily follow. I am therefore going to depend on this video, follow I think #3, and make this a baby blanket in light blue. I'm so excited, I can't tell you! I can manage any of these three double crochet versions while I follow along with you. I can't thank you enough. I've subscribed, thumbs up and will get notifications. I'm so excited that something was shown and explained in such a way that it finally clicked in my mind and I can progress! I'm looking forward to watching your videos first and foremost! Thank you ever so much. If u read this, do you have a video on how to crochet a bobble as a border to a knitted blanket?
You are just the sweetest! Thank you so much for commenting! You made my day! I am sharing a link to my video, which could be the border you are looking for! Let me know if you have any questions and thank you for subscribing! Hugs 🥰💖 ruclips.net/video/LjRsRMvAbjc/видео.html
I'm very new to crocheting and I just came across your channel and OMG I love it, I can't wait to try this
That’s wonderful! So glad you found me. Haha! Happy crocheting 🧶🥰
I love this video.
Thank you!!!
You are so welcome! 🥰🙌🏻💖🧶
Thanks Rhonda! I'm on my second afghan pattern from Daisy Farm Crafts that uses the same stitch as your last example (slip stitch, hdcblo) and that edge has frazzled me! It's nice to see a video of the stitch!
Hi Shelly! I love Daisy Farm Crafts! They do such beautiful work! Thanks for letting me know this helped you out! Happy crocheting! 💖😘
Oh, I wish I knew the name of the stitch used on the third sample, loved that one as well! I am using it on a book cover for myself, and loving it!
Thank "U" so much !

Amazing video thank you
Aw, you are so welcome 🥰 Thank you for your sweet comment 💖
Good teacher!
Thank you Donna 🥰🧶💖
Really enjoyed seeing the 3 HDC variations. Its a lovely, versatile stitch. I'm new to crochet and am amazed at the different looks that can be achieved just by using the back loops and/or adding the slip stitch. It may not look 'easy' but you break it down so it looks doable. Thank you for this teaching tutorial.
Hi Lynn! You are so welcome! Thank you so much for your sweet comments. I appreciate you for watching. Happy New Year 🎊🥰💝
Great video!
Thanks so much 🧶😘
Thank you Ronda
You are so welcome 🧶🥰

Thank you for your awesome videos 😉 can you please tell me the name of the light pink yarn. Is seems like it is a thick yarn. I love it. Thank you 💕
Hi JoAnne! Thank you so much! Unfortunately, the yarn was leftover from another project, so I have no idea which brand it is. It is defintely a thicker yarn than a worsted weight 4. Happy crocheting! xoxo
I love this - I just wish I could hear you better.
Hi! Great video
I need help with a swatch pattern, I don’t know what I’m doing wrong but maybe you can help me. I am doing alternating rows of half double crochet and single crochet and they always end up slanted, I guess its like a trapezoid. It drives me nuts because the first two I did were perfect squares and now they all slant and I don’t know how to keep it from doing that. Thank you!!
Make sure to ch 1 at the end of the SC row and ch 3 at the end of the DC row. Also, don’t forget to make your stitch in the stitch under those chains at the beginning of the rows. Hope that makes sense 🤪🙌🏻🥰
I like your explanation!
Also, I love your crochet hook. I’m wondering what brand you are using.
Could you say it?
Thank you so much! The hook is made by Red Heart 💖😘
🌹🌹🌹
You make it look so easy, pretty nails though😊
Thank you 🤪💖🥰
Ciao! bravissima!!!!! Ti mando il Sole della mia Sicilia( Italy)Dio ti benedica! bye bye
Ciao! Adoro la Sicilia! Così bello! Dio benedica anche te! 💖😘
On #2 pattern when you chain 2 are you going in the same place as the chain 2 or the next chain
It’s the next stitch after the ch 2 🥰🧶
What yarn are you using in this tutorial? It’s gorgeous! And I love pink!
Hi Melissa, the light pink yarn was taken from the Bernat Pop "Lipstick on your collar" skein, the other two were taken from a Lion Brand Mandala skein called "Unicorn". Hope that helps! Thanks for commenting! Yay for Pink! It's my favorite color, too! 💖😍🙌
Sparkly One thanks so much! 🌸🦄
So neat , thanks
You are so welcome! Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment! I really appreciate it 💖😘
Trying to duplicate a hdc stitch I started 46 years ago 🤷🏼♀️ My grandmother taught me. Can’t seem to properly duplicate it. Thought you could help. Any advice from the expert? Thanks 🙏
Hi Patricia! If you could send me an up close photo maybe I can help you out 😀🙌🏻 Email me at sparklyone60@gmail.com
What is the weight of the yarn?
I used a size 4 weight yarn for all swatches 🌸💕💝😍
Like your video a lot but it's hard to hear you. Thanks for sharing your talent. ☺
Thank you 😊
It's so hard getting through the holes
Just make sure to loosen up on the tension. I know it’s ha d to do, but it will be so much more rewarding 😘💖 You can also use a larger hook. That should help 👍🏻😁
@@SparklyOne Thanks🌹🎊

Can barely hear you
Hi Lorraine, I tested it on my phone and computer and it sounds fine here. I'm so sorry.
Love this video but you r going way to fast to learn from
I’m so sorry Franceska, it’s not a beginner video, but I’ll keep that in mind next time. I hope you were able to rewatch it and pause when needed. Thanks for commenting 🥰
