Big help to you.... i actually had engine light on.... and made appointment to drop off car at the dealer just save $500 to $1000 at the dealer because they would just replace with new + labour i couldn't wait so i did scan myself and got 3 code /P0100/P0111/P0113 , then search RUclips and find this video All i did was pull Mass and Map sensor off 2012 135i M sport n55 /e88 motor The Map sensor that connected to the charge pipe had oil on it, Bought a can of MASS AIR FLOW CLEANER from the auto part store And sprayed and cleaned oil off and let dry for 2 min Then re-installed them both .... then start car and within 10 seconds engine light despaired boost was back to normal ....The joy i felt was like no other wooooooow
I’ve noticed my car hesitating under heavy loads and when ever it would happen I would just let off. Then today I was feeling a little ballsy and I stayed in it. It felt like the car was about to blow up. I finally got the CEL I was waiting for and pulled the code and got p112f. For a faulty maf. Took it out and it looked like I wiped my butt with it. Cleaned it with brake cleaner and she’s running better than she ever has.
Love your channel, bought a m135i a couple of weeks ago so these video's are super helpfull. Would love more tips and video's on how to keep the car and that lovely n55 engine healthy.
@@latinwords2367 Hi, just came across your comment. My engine shakes every time I start the car and now I got a yellow check engine light. The error code is related to the MAF. Did you clean it and did that fix your problem?
Bryan, if the MAF sensor has problems/it's dirty, it should prompt an error on the iDrive or some other CEL error? I ask you because I have some hesitation on my B48 F30 LCI when accelerating from 1.1K rpms and don't know if I should focus on cleaning the MAF sensor. Thanks for the reply
Brian, So, check engine light came on, I threw a code of P00BD. Had them clear the code, came home and cleaned the sensor just like your video...THANKS. A couple of days later, the check engine light came back on. This time I cleaned both the MAF and the MAP on the charge pipe. If this worked, should the check engine light turn off without being cleared? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!
I am having exhaust chugging on coasting and braking, so I did this and it was super easy. It didn’t fix my problem though, so I suspect that it might be a partially clogged exhaust. It’s just really weird how it does chug on idle or accelerate.
Buddy, while doing this job I lost one screw while removing one of the two screws of MAF sensor that fell into the engine compartment and was not recovered. Any way I can buy the screw ? Part no?
Hey I can't seem to find the product you used, but can I use Holts Electrical Contact Cleaner 500ml Holts Electrical Contact Cleaner 500ml Removes oil, grease, and dirt Fast acting , powerful formula No Residue 360 degree spray action allows aerosol to spray in all positions Thanks
Any online link for buying these? I have a 2013 f30 320d there is an engine light with maf error. The car runs fine and no problem with the idle and power. My mechanic checked the wiring plus cleaned the sensor a couple of times but the problem still persist. Thanks in advance love from India :)
Hey pal i cleaned the valve intake on my '13 E70 X5 with CRC GDI IVD valve intake and turbo cleaner and after waiting an hour as per the instructions and taking it for a spin on the highway i got a huge grey cloud of smoke and a check engine light! any idea if its the MAF sensor since some of the stuff might have come into contact with it! Gonna try the CRC maf sensor cleaner now i think
The smoke coming from the tailpipe is normal its all the carbon that was being broken down which is a good thing! Clear codes and you will be back in business running better than ever. Just did the same thing on my N55 a lot with a new charge pipe and BMS intake.
Hey Bryan, thanks for the informative video again. I was wondering if this is sufficient enough or do I need to clean throttle body too? Saw they sell CRC product in bundle so I wanted to know. Thank you
Hi Bryan, I have a 2014 M4, and just recently when I start it up from cold and try to pull off, it starts to splutter and then cuts out (not all the time though) The car has done 41000 miles. It runs fine after the initial start up failure, so I was wondering if dirty maf sensors could be the problem....what do you think?
Can i use break cleaner? I bought a 2005 530i. Popping up codes p16a7 We cleaned maf sensor with break cleaner After that, Car still runs very rough. Very little power and sputters. Cant accelerate fast at all.
(mute point by now, but incase anyone else were to read comments) I use one in my e46. Don't over oil them, that is the mistake people do, as too much oil could then affect or damage the MAF.
I had a hard time removing the power connector of the sensor so i threw a towel over the engine bay and cleaned the maf sensor there and let it dry in the sun for 30 mins
You'll gain about 35 horsepower ;) Just kidding. Yes, you can notice a smoother idle. My car had a lot of oil in the intercooler, which coated the sensor in oil. It messes up the signal, so your car doesn't know exactly how much fuel it needs to add to compensate for the air flow
I’ve taken my car to BMW and several shops and get a different answer each time. When I’m at a stop light, foot on the brake my RPM is revving up and down like crazy. Threw some fuel system/injector cleaner from Walmart into it during my last fill up and it didn’t do it for a week. Then during my next fill up it started doing it again. Every answer I’ve gotten was the following! 1) Fuel injectors 2) Carbon air filter 3) spark plugs 4) brake flush Each shop gave a different answer. It’s an 08’ 328i automatic. 102K miles.
Could be your ignition coils? I have a 2012 and when I changed my spark plugs, I also need to replace the ignition coils as well. My RPMs were doing the same thing. BMWs are awesome when everything is working properly LOL Good luck!
I have the same issue. I bought Bluedriver for my M5. I keep getting P00BC error code. I cleared the code, then disconnected the MAF's and the car ran fine. I reconnected the MAF's and will see if the error code returns. I bet it will. For some reason my F10 M5 hates aftermarket air intakes.
Just did mine today after watching your video. It worked. Thanks very much from the UK

Brake cleaner is not advised. It leaves a residue on the hot wire and is too aggressive

Thanks older x3 w 141k on it ..changing oil n air filter...very dirty . Will clean MAS thanks
Nice. Never thought to clean it, especially being so simple to do. Thanks.
Yep, it's great to do on any car!
Hey Bryan.. Just started to run across your videos in the last few weeks. Appreciative what you're doing!
Awesome, thanks!
Can i use electronics cleaner there's no available maf cleaner in the area
Any opinions about when to actually replace the MAF sensor? Every 10 years or anything like that? Thanks in advance ☺
Hi Brian, I have to admit I was skeptical about this video, but it really solved my problem. Thank you for posting this video.
Pablo Herrera what was your problem? Just curious
Pablo Herrera. Same question. What was ur problem? Usually used to skake the engine every time you start it?
thatdronekid torreto his fuel economy was bad most likely

Have you found a solution to your problem? Mine has been doing the same
The spot you were really focused on was the iat sensor
Man you arr so brilliant 👌
A very helpful video... thank you ...
Can I clean the MAP sensor too?

Sure thing!
Kies Motorsports where is it on the 2013 Bmw 750li ?
Just did this, appreciate the vids. I had to watch again
Hi can i clean the maf after i driven the car or does engine have to be cold thanks
Can I use electrical contact cleaner as I can't get hold of the MAF sensor cleaner?
H Singh yea
Is it safe to spray the connector in the MAF sensor and spray the connectors from the engine lead? Please advise
Hi Bryan, Is it really effective
LIke the addition of the background music!
Thanks! You'll have to teach me how to vlogg one day, ha.
hahaha just keep watching other people's and keep doing what your doing!
Lol. You stay the vlogging champ and I'll stick to DIYs haha
Probably a stupid question but is it fine to clean the sensor on a 18 330i?
Should we do this every time the filter is changed?
what about the screws that hold that sensor in place i lost mine where can i get ? please help

No Residue

I want to do the same thing to the MAF on my 335i soon. Do you wipe any excess spray off or do you just let it completely dry?
No, it dries in about 3 seconds, super quick!
could a rough idle be caused by a dirty MAF?
Yes, it could be a factor
I have code p10f0 intake air temp sensor code do you think this might help fix it
I hav a w210 Benz but the maf air flow sensor isnt working.help what can I do

check for any vacuum leak. clean maf and throttle body, check your air filter and clean it. if still occur, check your fuel filter and pump.

Yes, same basic process for every car

Can it give you no throttle response
Sebastien Rosil yes. I ran a car without a MAF, and the throttle response didn’t work after 1.5k RPM if I remember correctly
I thought the MAF for this car was on the charge pipe?

No just take of the electrical tab clip
