  • In this video I share my thoughts on Jinger being free from IBLP, but right back into another system called Calvinism. I explain whatbcalvinism is and how it is just another man made doctrine.
    Is she really free?

Preach it, girl! Thank you for this simple, but important truth…”don’t go looking for clever explanations as to why all those passages don’t really mean what they say…why the word world doesn’t really mean world, etc.”. Loveeeed this. Thank you for sharing this. I used to listen to Pastor McArthur, Piper, and Baucham... loved their sermons. But I never really read the Bible myself, and I wasn't at peace. I prayed to God for a mature Christian woman to learn from. Came across your channel. You brought me back to the Word, and the veil was lifted. I'm 32, have been a Christian my whole life and I am reading through the Bible for the first time. Your channel has been a huge blessing. God bless you and your family, Alana, ❤️

The majority of the congregation wised up to it, and put up a fight...the pastor resigned and went to start another church. I sincerely pray that those, that adhere to it, will open their eyes and hearts to the TRUTH of the gospel! ALL can be saved!!

It's very common for people to leave one cult and join another because it feels safe to have someone over you giving you all the answers. It's especially difficult to research for yourself when you leave a cult because you have never been taught how to think critically and cults instill a fear of outside information.

Alana, I can’t say thank you enough for what you’re doing by sharing your story. It’s so similar to mine but I’m behind you by a couple years. Giving myself permission to ask the questions I have always had about the reformed theology and then seeking answers away from my churches recommended resources (all were explaining through Calvinist lens) has brought healing to my soul. Deeper than I realized I needed. My desires are changing. I have peace, a desire for seeking God in scripture and sharing the gospel now more than I have in the last 20 yrs. I care less if people think I’m “off” because I know I am just seeking truth now from the Bible and the Holy Spirit. The more I read the whole story, the less I agree with Calvin. I feel like a weight has lifted, like I’m free when I didn’t even know I wasn’t.
I started that journey on my own before finding people online but hearing you is so encouraging. I feel alone at times, but I’m not alone.

You have to be very careful in labeling something or someone being cultish.
Below are some distinctive s attributes of Christian cults.
      Control is central
      Rejecting the deity of Christ
      Works-based soteriology
      Mind control and manipulation
      A distortion of hell
Dis-fellowshipping those that don’t follow the rules, or questioning their religious authorities
      A different gospel
(BTW, Calvinism is not a gospel. It’s not the good news.
“Jesus came into the world to save sinners.” That is the gospel)
They claim to have received new revelation from God
The above list is not Calvinism.

      Hi there.
You claim that sovereign grace theology is a false teaching? Okay. Where in scripture is this theology clearly and emphatically renounced?
And where in scripture is the doctrine of free-will clearly and emphatically taught? In other words, where does it teach that man dead in his sin (Ephesians 2), a slave to sin Romans 6), hostile to God (Romans 8), a lover of darkness rather than a lover of the Light (John 3), whose father is the devil and who does will of the devil (John 8), who walks in the course of the world and is a child of wrath (Ephesians 2), who the devil had blinded so that man “cannot” see the light of the gospel in the face of Christ Jesus (2 Corinthians 4), who is a God hater (Romans 1), how can man in this amazing bondage have freedom to choose Jesus as savior. Once again, from you own words, where is the clear, concise, dogmatic teaching that a sinner as described above is capable of choosing Jesus as Savior. And I’m not talking about verses like John 3:16. I need verses that address man’s FREE WILL specifically. Since this is probably what you subscribe to, you should be able to find words like “free” and “will in scriptural context.
Calvinist have their words in scripture: predestination, chosen, elect, election, ordained, chose, etc.
And what does John 1:13 say about man’s will in salvation?

Hi Alana. I have been watching you process over time. I came out of GCC too (from like 25 years). It took me a year to find solid answers as to why I was hearing so many bad things about Calvinism outside of my circle. Until Leighton. I was certain he could not challenge Romans 9. 45 minutes later I realized for the first time how peppered with the Old Testament and toward the Jews much of that book was written as. And that I just met someone who made more sense than what I understood for decades. Your heart cry for conversation over confrontations posing as conversations is awesome. How sincerely precious that is. I am impressed with your bold love and love for sincere dialogue. This will make our time here on earth a much richer place. I have been out of Calvinism now for 5 years and I believe this video is the most succinct raw and beautiful very easy to grasp Calvinist explainer--out the gate. Looking forward to your growth and progress as it ministers greatly to my heart. Even after 5 years...there are still some deep layers God is always refining.
Although I feel like I gave GCC a run for their money, in that it always seemed there ministry was off here and there and also in some rather dramatic places, I could actually testify that God saw to move them in ways towards really trying to work with me in my differences. I came out of the charismatic movement in my earliest years as a believer. But i used to always tell the leaders there that the way God used them in my life was more charismatic like than my days as a Charismatic (saying that as a cessationsit). And sincerely meant it There were some very rough periods there too. But in encouragement, I've seen God break through some difficult hearts there. I believe your faith and love in Him in this way here in your video will eventually get through to some to many there. God has gifted you with an a amazing and wonderful heart. I find myself explaining some ways GCC ministry thinks like to some other channels that are a bit up in arms over other matters. Beyond Calvinism, GCC has a rather nuanced approached to ministry style that is easier to see in its full glory when you get into trouble there...lol. Kind of bittersweet. But I say this to be of encouragement in that I know you are trusting God to reach whosoever on the internet. But having been a member there myself i would imagine quite a lingering affection for some to many. So just saying those things about that which pertained to my experience with them in hopes that when I say your approach on this video has a good shot at reaching people there is from a (of hopeful) better or (for) worse conscientious objective observer. Blessings dear sister.

I know job is a very hard book, and I take it at its word, but I also don’t think it means it’s how God works every time someone is suffering, or that jobs words are necessarily theology because it’s him talking about God not God talking about Himself. Of course whatever God says about himself is true.

My unapologetic husband who has no remorse caused it and now I have to process this out according to the truth. That he really did it out of his own free will. Romans 8:28 still stands of course, but I guess I used Determinism as a way to help forgive and accept my husband’s actions. This can be very dangerous for people who are in abusive situations.

Pastors carry a lot of power and that can result in a very unbalanced relationship when the victim feels shamed and powerless. I pray you will grow in wisdom and see that we all have free will. Ms Elizabeth. I’m sorry to hear you suffered so much. Everyone gets sick. Disease comes after many. Those with disabilities are numerous. Depression, stress, anxiety, doubts, this is common in the human experience in a fallen world. You are not alone.
Instead of calling this determinism, fatalism, call it what it is… the devil means to use your suffering for evil, whereas God means to use it for good. Joni Tada Erickson is a perfect example. A diving accident left her a quadriplegic (over 50 years now). She doesn’t blame God, nor determinism, nor Calvinism. In fact her life is a beautiful testimony to the goodness of God. And she believes God is sovereign. The devil would love her to curse God for her disability. Instead she fights for her joy, peace and contentment in Christ alone. Her resolve is that of Job’s, that the Lord gives and he away takes away. Blessed be the name of the Lord.
This isn’t about Calvinism, sister. This is not about soteriology. This is about who God is and who we are in him, and our good and gracious God who works all things (especially the bad things) together for good to those who love God, who are called according to his purpose.
The unstoppable, unchangeable, unshakable and untamable God of the universe loves you. And even when he allows, permits suffering, it’s never to punish his people. But what it does is it gives believers like you the opportunity to resolve to worship God even in the midst of your personal storm.
He is your rock, your shelter. And he wants you to be satisfied in him alone.
Don’t let this Calvinism vs Arminianism silliness to discourage you. The devil loves to create distractions, he loves to divide God’s people, he loves to create doubt and suspicion. And social media, like RUclips, is a breeding ground for strife, hate, division, name-calling, accusations, labeling, etc.
Jesus is all we have. Jesus is all we need.
      God bless

This is amazing. I just watched an interview with Jinger and I thought it was amazing all that she had come out of while still loving God. In the interview she mentioned Grace Community and my heart immediately fell and I felt such a burden. Grace Community appeals to many who have legalistic backgrounds. It feels secure and like the only "right" place to be. I speak from personal experience because I attended this place for over 5 years. Your video also popped up and I was like I am absolutely going to watch your saying. You are so right. She isn't free and this place adds shackles like you can't imagine. Ally Stucky is a massive Calvinist and I watched her interview with Ben Shapiro. I often wonder why Ally speaks out on things because according to her theology God has decreed everything that is coming to pass so to speak out is really speaking against God's decree. This is the cognitive dissonance Calvinists function under. Yes we should be speaking out and resisting evil. It rises up out of us because God has not decreed evil of any kind. I'm so glad you made this video because I was thinking the exact same thing as you when I listened to her interview.

Alana, this was exceptional.🎯 Prayers for the Duggar family. Your insights are precisely to the point. It seems that temperamentally, they were probably very comfortable with a 'structured' religious experience, and by moving into Calvinism they will most likely be just as comfortable with the walls of Calvinism placed around them... even tho imagined. satisfied
Calvinism's entire system is built on a false premise that all are 'born' unable to respond positively to God. This is despite the absence of any scripture in proper context to establish that is true. Yet, it is the foundation stone of Calvinism. And once the 'T' is accepted, TULIP becomes logically necessary... But... without the "T" there is no need for "ULIP"... Neither is there a need for Arminian "Prevenient Grace". After his resurrection Jesus now calls 'all' men to himself, just as he promised. Some men will believe, some will not... but anyone can... and THAT is Good News for everyone !
Calvinism has no good news for anyone. The 'elect' as they define them have no need of it, having been made vessels to honor from the very beginning... and the 'un-elect' can't even want it by God's so-called decree.
It brings an interesting question to me.... In their system, Calvinism's 'elect' do not need an advocate because their eternal destination is secure regardless of what they do. And Jesus certainly would not advocate for the non-elect.🤔So, for whom is Christ Jesus advocating before the father?🤔

Hello. Actually it is a misinterpretation. The Bible teaches that God is sovereign and man us responsible. God will even use the evil that men do to accomplish his eternal purposes.
It was God’s will, his purpose, his plan that Jesus would be crucified, a sacrifice for for sin for all those who believe in him. At the same time men killed Jesus on the cross because they hated Jesus. And in doing so they unwittingly accomplished God’s plan so you and I could be redeemed. And those who partook in the murderous plan against the Son of God are completely and totally accountability to the holy God for their sin (Acts 2).
Or what about Joseph and all the evil committed against him in Genesis? Remember what he said to his brothers? YOU MEANT IT FOR EVIL (you are accountable), BUT GOD MEANT IT FOR GOD (God is sovereignly in control) in Genesis 50.
I don’t know which RUclipsrs you are being influenced by, but you seem to have been misinformed. On Judgment day, Josh Dugger will be stand before God for his sin. As will you and I. We either are justified by his grace, or we will all pay for our sins in eternity.
Now you can push back against this, or you can sit with it for awhile and read through the entire Bible, Genesis through revelation and look for God’s sovereignty and man’s responsibility. Do that first before you make false accusations.
I say this in love and respect

I really think, granted from just years of watching the Duggars and following the grown children on their various accounts, that they were simply trying to raise their children as Biblically as they could. And quite frankly, there's comfort in being around like minded believers they found in the IBLP.
I was glad to see you speak to Jinger's new book, because I had the same thought as you concerning her being Calvinist now. I do think that her sister Jessa's family is also. My daughter listened to her Allie Stukey interview, and she said that the problems Jinger had with anxiety, not good enough, etc, were the exact problems my daughter dealt with in the Calvinist church we were in. My daughter and Jinger are almost the same age. We spent 10 years in that church, until it became unbearable. This may help you understand predestination.
Predestination example 1: Its kind of like this. A man’s wife is finally pregnant and the couple are over joyed. I hope it is a boy the man said and I hope he will be interested in becoming an electrician like me. I also hope he goes into the trade and if he does, I plan for him to take over the family business some day! But I know that these plans that I have made for him, before one of his days of life begin will be entirely up to my son. I cannot force him, I cannot put a gun to his head, I can only encourage and guide him and hope. In other word’s the man has predestined a plan for his son, He has chosen a plan for his son. He has elected to give all this to his son if he so desires it!
Outcome 1 The baby is born and it is a boy. He is interested in his fathers work and goes to electrical trade school, but drops out and becomes a lawyer instead.
Outcome 2 He drops out of school becomes a bum, a drunk or a murderer etc.
Outcome 3 The son follows his fathers predestinated plan, through trade school and takes over his father’s business. The fathers predestined plans for his son will happen, or will not happen, according to the choices the son makes.
Its the same with mankind. There is a master plan given to every human being to know God, reach salvation and eternity in Heaven.
But to follow or reject the plan is the choice given to every individual.
This is the "Good News Gospel" that the Angels proclaimed when the Messiah was born.
Satan has attacked that message from the beginning, twisting it into what is now known as Calvinism or the doctrine of election.
      Predestination example 2:
Grandma saves and saves to buy her granddaughter a plane ticket to France. She has been saving for many years and the day finally arrived and she gave her granddaughter her special gift.
The granddaughter goes to the airport and asks the attendant which plane to get on. The attendant says, what is your destination on your ticket? He reads the ticket which says “Destination France.”
He also said that flight 446 is a modern jet that was especially built and destined by the airline to fly exclusively to France for its entire service life. So, this aircraft has been predestined to fly to a predestined location, France.
The girl gets on the plane and is now destined to travel to France on the predestined plane, that has been predestined by its designers, to reach its predestined, destination!
This girl will arrive at her predestined trip that her grandmother predestined years before, as long as she goes to the airport, gets on the right plane and stays on the plane!
All this took place by the choices the granddaughter made.
Predestination example 3: "The man on an island." Imagine a man has been taken to a desolate island with everything he needs to survive and given only a Bible to occupy his time. This man has no preconceived idea about religion so everything he will learn over the next 10 years he will get directly from the Bible and Gods leading.
The man accepts God’s plan of salvation and what he has learned from the Bible. He repents and is born again.
The Holy Spirit is now counselling the man from the inside. He studies intensely for the 10 years growing in his faith and walking closer and closer with God daily.
After 10 years he comes back to the mainland world and decides he needs to fellowship with other Christians as the Bible says he should.
The man approaches a number of different churches and looks through the windows from the outside and says to himself “What are they doing in there what are they saying about God?
How do you think this man will compare what he knows to be true, from what he sees going on in the mainline churches today?
Do you think he will find what the mainline denominations are teaching will be in harmony to what this true follower of Jesus Christ has learned?
      You know it won’t be!
      TRUTH IN LOVE

Jinger's Husband just recently graduated from The Masters Seminary. He is very Reformed ( Jeremy). The teachings of ATI/ IBLP are extremely over the top. I appreciate the fact that Jinger is able to see how legalistic the IBLP is without attacking her parents. She disagrees with them, but she doesn't attack Christianity. I have been watching many interviews with Jinger. I hope she gets to the point where one man or Pastor isn't at the forefront.....just the Bible. I think her parents had good intenin raising them, but Bill Gothard is off Theologically in many issues.

I think it’s good that she wrote the book because they shared these beliefs so publicly and her parents even had them write a book previously to support these values. I enjoyed the Duggars as a tv show. It reminded me of my childhood, simple pleasures,Jesus, music, kids playing and everyone just enjoying one another’s company. However I did have a feeling that something was a little off and different but I chalked it up to maybe being more sheltered. Little by little though I started to get bad feelings. I remember watching the episode where Josh married Anna and Jim Bob gave Josh a book about intimacy in marriage and I remember the way Josh responded kinda gave me a put in my stomach. Kinda like a “there’s nothing I don’t already know” feeling. But I dismissed that and felt maybe it was and projecting my own personal issues on to him. Then I remember I was in Concord NC and I told my husband that I had a feeling a bad story was about to come out about Josh… I can’t really explain that but the very next day there is was being reported every where. All this to say that I was then promoted to do research about the Duaggrs,IBLP and Bill Gothard (as well as the Bates family. I do believe the Duggar kids have been so brainwashed and just emotionally hurt they don’t know how to tell up from down in many instances. Jeremy attended seminary affiliated with John McArthur if I’m not mistaken. Jeremy believes in the teachings of John McArthur therefore I’m sure Jinger believes she must believe as well as I’m sure she believes she is under his authority. I do feel though there may come a time where she will begin to question it, if she already hasn’t . I personally have always felt Calvinism is a way to avoid accountability and to try to explain common asked questions. Like just explain them away quickly. And I mean this in love, I don’t want to hurt any Calvinist because I do consider them part of the body and I know God loves them. Having said that, Christ didn’t die for a few, limited,or the elect but rather everyone!! If that is disregarded then the literal gospel has been altered. I believe every soul on this earth has the opportunity to accept Jesus Christ and to allow him into their hearts and to begin to walk with him. A world where eternal life in heaven was a gift that was only extended to people God knew would choose it anyways is not only contradictory to the scriptures but almost paints a picture where the sacrifice of Christ on the cross was in vain and that sounds like a lie Satan would tell. Like did Jesus really die for you? Did he really die for your sins too? Sadly Jinger and many others in the world have been conditioned to follow things blindly. She was spoon fed before and is being spoon fed now. However I still believe God can use this as a path to a greater exodus from Calvinism later. Praying that God will help remove any confusion from all believers (myself included) If there is something we don’t understand.
Lord make it clear to us what your intention for your word is. Amen

Just finished your video, thanks for this detailed break down of Calvinism. I also started the 3 videos you made on Calvinism which is helpful.
I grew up Catholic, and we were taught that salvation was free as long as you believed and repented for your sins. The idea of election and predestination makes no sense to me because it’s no where in the Bible.
Calvinists like many cults are able to reel people in because there is an overwhelming urge in most of us to want to feel special, included and elite.
Cults prey on a person’s vulnerabilities at the moment. So whatever is missing or needed they speak to that & love bomb people. The truth of their motives and true beliefs are always hidden and only revealed until someone is in too deep.
Having listened to sermons of many Calvinists, the number one feeling I felt from their message was sheer arrogance. The overwhelming sense of elitism is also apparent.
While I’m not a believer, I do know the Bible. I know factually there is absolutely nothing in the Bible that states Jesus only died for a select few. Nor does it say that God has predetermined one’s life. The Bible specifically mentions over and over that believers have free will.
What has never made sense to me is the view of predestination and that a Calvinist would know they are one of the elect. If you are one of the elect, under their teachings then nothing you do good or bad even matters. So why bother? It seems like a way for men to excuse bad behavior and hide behind the faith.
MacArthur has become a cult leader that has no accountability nor any reasonable elders that will hold him accountable or discipline his behavior. It’s disturbing. His followers worship him vs actually worshipping the God they claim to love.
Another detail I’ve noticed is that Calvinists love to tell people that they aren’t smart enough to understand the Bible. So therefore, they need to have the Bible preached to them with all kinds of out of place context and big words which only confuse people more. I see them add so much context that it’s not even plausibly true. They also ignore any arguments pointing to the blasphemy of their beliefs.
Either way, this video was so helpful. Thanks!

Rome's way of salvation is not only another gospel, but the antithesis of the Gospel Paul preached. It focuses not on what Jesus has done to save sinners, but what Catholics must do to be saved. Their list of requirements include: be baptized (1256), receive sacraments (1129), go to purgatory for the purification of sins (1030), do good works (2016), keep the law (2068) and participate in the weekly sacrifice of the Mass (1405) for salvation.

The Numbers in parenthesis are paragraph numbers in the Catechism of the Catholic Church).
Rome's false gospel shuts the gates of heaven to those trying to enter should be enough of a warning but there is much more. This is the tip of the false gospel iceberg but like Alana, we must remove our Roman Catholic lens and desire to know the truth and seek God with all our heart.
As Alana explained, she was running back to her favorite Pastors to get their interpretations and that is how we were trained or indoctrinated to do as Roman Catholics- to run back to Roman Catholic interpretations of the Bible.
God commands each of us to study his word on our own not depend on man to tell us what is true and not true.
That’s very dangerous and why we are told few enter the narrow gate but many are on the wide road to destruction.

I've been wanting to read it to see her take on Bill Gothard for myself. I've been studying the true colors of the IBLP since 2019. I was raised on the Duggars growing up starting at the age of 13, and unfortunately became pretty indoctrinated into their beliefs minus going to the conferences and we didn't use the complete ATI curriculum. Their influence from their show alone was enough to indoctrinate myself, my sister and my mom. I didn't have my belief system challenged until I met my husband in 2014. He was wise enough to see the flawed system they were in and slowly led me out of it. I was aware Jinger and Jeremy were Calvinists and I've watched a lot of your videos on the topic. I've also been looking into the Bible myself and have had to renew my mind every day to unlearn their harmful belief systems. This is some good food for thought as I continue to pray on whether or not I should purchase anything.

PREACH WOMAN! :) you are so great at getting points across and teaching!!! I just recently saw an interview w/ Jinger on Alisa Childers youtube. I had NO clue she went from that cult into Calvinism. WHY is it that many come out of deceit into Calvinism??? For example, Doreen Virtue. She was a New Age teacher for years and she is now a Calvinist! It breaks my heart that once one finds out they've been deceived, they allow themselves to fall into something else that is deceitful. I became a Christian in July 2021 (I'm now 49 yrs old). "raised" Catholic and then followed New Age (I knew of Doreen then too!) beliefs (was a huge fan of Oprah and she is the harlot sharing that false nonsense).... I SWORE when I found the ONE TRUE GOD I was not going to be deceived again. I read the entire bible in less than a year and questioned everything. I prayed constantly to the Lord for wisdom and discernment...and He has answered my prayers and then some!
Since Calvinists are the predominant force online/books/commentaries, quotes...you name it....I eventually heard of "calvinism" and I wanted to know what it was...ironically, I came across a website calling out John MacArthur but that website was a proponent of EASY BELIEVISM....another false gospel. Once I heard about Calvinism, I thought that made God sadistic...and then I felt bad thinking that way about God if it were true......then I thought Easy Believism must be true.....then I started hearing about the "Paul is a false apostle" junk....
I was ALL OVER THE PLACE!!! it's insane! Thankfully, the Lord has now grounded me with His Holy Spirit and continues to reveal Himself to me the more I read His word and the more I EARNESTLY SEEK HIM. Now, I don't even believe in the lie about pre-trib rapture, once saved always saved or Calvinism. It is beyond sad how man corrupts God's word.....He's NOT a God of confusion.....enter man and let the confusion begin! :) It is SO important to READ THE BIBLE YOURSELF, BE A GOOD BEREAN...do NOT allow any man tell you what the Bible says. GET TO KNOW GOD INTIMATELY and then the Holy Spirit and common sense will help you decipher what's true and what's not!
God bless you all in your walk w/ Christ and I can't wait to see everyone when Jesus returns! Maranatha!

The homework has been done for us, and we just trust man to be leading us in the right direction instead of taking the time to put in the work and read for ourselves. We also are told that we cannot understand the things of God without someone “holier“ than us, explaining what they mean. This is a lie in order to control us, and teach us what they want us to believe versus us, knowing we have the mind of Christ and the Holy Spirit as our guide, and can understand the things of God by relying on the Holy Spirit to guide us instead of man. There’s so much falsehood out there I have been as dumbfounded as you! Everyone needs to be pushed to the Scriptures more and more and everyone needs to stop depending on man.

Hello @Alana L, I am new to your page. I am a 4 year old Christian and am born again. But it is so true that all of the preachers I have listened to all this time are calvanists and I didnt even know it. As I have grown I have wrestled woth what calvinism is because it has been woven into my understanding without me fully understanding the terminology for it.
My husband has just recently said that its apparent that reformed theology is accurate and Im over here wondering if reformed theology can be separate from Calvanisim? I think reformed in the sense of the protestant reformation is that the same thing? I am at the point where this ll starting to unravel but I dont have the vocabulary or understand of what it even is that is unravelling to even know what questions to ask!!
Someone in a comment on one of Allie Beth's videos stuck out to me and she said something along the lines of 'if ever you find yourself wondering why you are recoiling as you learn about the Calvinists doctrine, listen to that feeling! Its because it's not biblical.' Recoil was the word that stuck because that explains how I have been feeling!! I look at my entire family and pray for their salvation and then doubt creeps in as I wrestle with what the point even is to pray for them!!
I feel grateful to even discover that this has a name and that there is something different, but I feel very confused trying to untangle this mess I didnt even know was getting tangled in me. I will continhe to watch your videos you have already made, but if you could share poignant advice to me now as I take the time to learn further, I would grately appreciate that!

How can one be secure in Calvinism? They don’t know 100% for sure who Jesus died for.
You can be secure by believing scripture. Scripture says faith in Jesus is salvation. Then, walk in the Way, which is to love God and others. There’s obviously more, but it’s all in scripture to follow.
Don’t follow Jesus because you fear hell. Follow Jesus because you love Him.
You can’t follow perfectly. That’s why it tells us in Hebrews that he’s a sympathetic high priest, he knows the weakness of the flesh. But he gives us the spirit to help us. He’s made us alive to himself and we must be living sacrifices for him and not live in the flesh any longer. We are called not to sin but when we do we have Jesus as our advocate.

Sadly, I fear with the religious and family trauma she's experienced she's ripe to either become an awful legalistic Pharisee or she's gonna end up like some of these guys that have apostatized completely when she really begins to put Calvinism together logically and it occurs to her what she really believes and both scenarios make me sad.

Remember friends the Bible says God is love, and He loved you enough to give up His most precious treasure (Jesus, His Son) to save you. He truly can be trusted with your life. Anyway…
I’m having a hard time believing anything to do with God now at times because it just looks like a system to control people… but I know also in my heart that the Bible speaks the truth… it’s been a hard journey but I’m coming to a place where I can be honest with God and myself.. it hurts SO BAD but it’s freeing…

When I realize that Calvinism believed in predestination, I thought to myself, then, what in their opinion is the point of making the choice to become a Christian or not because according to Calvinism, it doesn’t matter what you choose God has already chosen for you. Which led me to think wow she has just went from Bill Gothard to John MacArthur Mitch believes a set of man-made rules as well. This didn’t seem any better to me. Let me tell you, that church had me messed up. I hate to say it, but Calvinism and Reformed theology has a way of hardening a person and making them uncompassionate and almost cruel. I (and other people i know) have experienced this too frequently for me not to conclude that this pattern is a by product of believing Calvinism.
Being in two different Reformed churches over six years kinda messed up my relationship with God. Since everything is "determined," i jumped to the logical conclusion and concluded that God didnt care, so why pray? I may not be elect, and God hated me, etc. Really, really bad. When I became a Christian at 16 years of age it was through the charismatic influence. (Another topic)
But, that was the beginning of my journey with Jesus. I had a hunger to read the Bible. I was not exposed to the doctrines of Calvinism. Over the years I began to meet others and get involved with church groups with various doctrinal views. Eventually, I began learning about this TULIP. What my husband and I saw in scripture didn’t line up with this doctrine. But, one thing that I feel the Lord did show me through scripture was the principle of modesty for woman. I think the issue of modesty can be very legalistic in many groups. I personally had high standards on this topic and because I did I was drawn to some of these groups that are now labeled cults. Not because I was following their teaching but because they taught what I believed the scriptures also taught on this topic and other topics. These groups had their own cultural style of how to apply the teaching. What I have realized over the years is that one can feel very strong on an issue and live it out the way God us showing them BUT it turns into legalism when you start requiring others to live out your standard. So in conclusion we must read the scriptures and allow the Holy Spirit to show us how to apply certain principles taught without being legalistic. Another interesting topic is 1 Cor. 11. There are different interpretations on the “head covering”. It is clear there was a head covering needed for woman in Corinth. Is this something woman should obey and if so how to apply it to our culture? I know how I see it. But even my opinions have slightly changed over the years. So my point being even in reading the Bible our opinions can fluctuate. We are always learning and we see and understand in part. As long as we walk in all the light we have at the moment God’s Grace is there to continue to guide us. He is a patient and loving God.

I’m going to play the video of your life and testimony tonight for someone (not a Calvinist) and will play it for other Calvinists (who I love) in the future.
Why? Because it answers the comment by Calvinists that there really aren’t any former Calvinists out there that have left Calvinism.
Often you’ll hear that “you don’t really understand Calvinism”.
What they mean is that if you truly understood, than you’d have to believe Calvinism is true. Just going in circles.
Your gracious testimony and life are something that can speak to anyone and they would have to at least consider what you are saying.
It’s not until people will consider (hear with an open heart), that they start to see …..without a theology clouding their vision
I would compare your testimony to much like Becket Cook’s - only in the way that a real life homosexual has left homosexuality. Pretty hard to dispute. And he’s out there also.
The more they listen to Becket, the more they can see themselves leaving homosexuality.
Keep going Alana, you’re making a difference for the Kingdom. People are and will continue to leave Calvinism.
