@@twoeyes1922, Not in this world. No one is saying that the story has to be consistent with the real world, people are saying that it needs to be consistent with its own world. This show used to be a grounded political drama with fantasy elements. It had a feeling of logic that was somewhat similar to the real world’s, but with the addition of dragons and other fantastical elements. Melisandre birthing the shadow to kill Renly doesn’t make sense in the real world, but it does makes sense in this world. Euron swimming all the way to shore from his ship and arriving there at the exact moment that Jaime does makes absolutely zero sense in accordance to the rules of this world. The bizarre editing of the following fight scene that feels like they recorded the fight, chopped it up into parts, randomly rearranged those parts, and cut out half of it doesn’t do much to make up for it either.

Honestly, there was a minor opportunity for a memorable scene here. Probably lost in the shitness of the finale, but still. When Euron issued his challenge, Jaime should have been hesitant to accept. But when he did, he crosses swords with Euron before swiftly beheading him in 2-3 swings. With Eurons' shocked expression bouncing off camera.
For Euron isn't the same character as the one from the books. This one is all swagger and heroics on the sea, but he's on land...facing off against (pre-maiming) one of the finest swordsman in the seven kingdoms. Who has a Valerian Steel sword in his hand. And has had FIVE seasons of experience to re-train and grow as a character. To say that this fight is one-sided would be an understatement.
It would do the Equilibrium trope thing - showing that the secondary antagonist isn't even in the same league. And bring that Kraken being vulnerable out of the sea thing full circle. Especially when faced against a Lannister lion. Then Jaime should have simply walked away, half sighing one word to sum up the foolishness of a rebellious house, that despite coming so far, has learnt so little:
    "Greyjoys..."

Euron in the books: a psychopath who knows dark magic and who's ambition is to cause the end of the world so he can piss off the gods.

Quite the letdown for a character that in the Books is probably the most scary, ingenous and evil person around and is trying to become an apocalyptic demi-god possibly ending the world. But given that he was pretty much just some shit-talking viking-pirate in the TV show it fits I guess.

ffs, the last season of GoT will go down in history as the greatest disappointment ever.
GoT could have gone out becoming THE "gold standard" for how to tell an epic, multi-season story, that people would be talking about for decades and decades to come.
But instead, because Dumb and Dumber were impatient to get done and move on to imagined better things, instead we got this level of stupidity.

David and Dan: Folks, we should have Jaime kill Euron on his way.
Some guy: Euron was obliterated at the sea, trying to survive a dragon burning down his fleet. How we'll make him fight Jaime who's passing though dungeons?

At this point Euron was just the proxy for the showrunners. He has no real goal, he's not after anything, he just does stuff because it thinks it might look/sound cool. And Euron might be fine, Arya got stabbed worse then that, and she was doing parkour a few hours later.
