I never thought to use a clear tub to propagate, thank you for this video!!!
Hi Shannon! It's definitely a successful and cost effective method 😁💚🌿 Thank you so much for watching!!
I'd love to see the outcome of the three cuttings!
Okay! I think I am going to make an update video 😁 .. I recieved multiple requests for the outcome! Stay toned 🌿💚
@tdot Hi! I wanted to let you know that I finally posted an updated propagation video if you want to check it out 😁🌿 ruclips.net/video/RSih1arxOUY/видео.html
Question - where you made that main cut, will it continue to grow there? I am feeling the same way, mine is probably 7’ tall and I’d feel bad if I stopped its growth by trimming it, even if I am propagating what I cut.
Hi Brian! Once you make the cut, it will encourage the plant to push out growth from the original plant from other nodes (where a leaf is). Mine pushed out multiple different new growth points from the mother plant! If you watch some of my more recent videos you will see how my plants are growing in different directions and it is because I have cut them! 🌿 Thank you so much for watching 💚😁
Hey everyone! Just wanted to let you know that I have made a propagation updates video if you are interested in what happened to these cuttings 😁🌿 ruclips.net/video/RSih1arxOUY/видео.html
I have small single vine.It was doing fine so I decided to repot. a pot 2 inches bigger.I use the same soil mix and the next daty all the leaves where sagging. What can I do.Im so upset and sad .I feel so guilty .I care for my plants and do the best I can.
Hi Jenny! Can you tell if it was over or under watered? ?
Great Video!!! I LOVE your propagation station! LOL totally relatable not wanting to cut the plant
Aww thank you 🌿😆 it's nothing special, but it works like a charm! Haha and I'm glad you can relate! I really didn't want to cut it because its so long now! But I know it will push out new growth 🌿🙏👌 that you so much for video 😁💚
I found this video in hopes to salvage an extremely disappointing "mini monstera" cutting I got on etsy.. I was even more horrified to see that one of the leaves on this terrible cutting was now starting to turn yellow.. I tried to scrape most if not all of the brown softer rotting parts of the cutting ( extremely hard since the seller made cuts so annoyingly close to the roots / leaves ) and will let them air dry for 30 mins as mentioned in the video.. any chance I can get some more advice on how to salvage this? 😭😭
Hi Zara! Sorry for the delayed reponse 🌿 I was on vacation! I hope your cutting is still hanging in there🤞 I would say the "dry out time" could be longer if needed. Also transferring it to a mix of atleast half perlite, also a suitable grow pot size (not too big). Bump up the humidity and light to promote faster root growth👌 hope this helps! Thanks for watching 💚🌿
So sad to cut it but, now you'll have more!
Haha definitely! That's a good way to look at it 💃😁🌿 more plants is always a bonus
Question: how does the original plant grow after cutting the top
😁💚🌿 I have a playlist for my rhaphidophora tetrasperma too! There are 5 videos in total so far 😆
i also cut my "mini monstera" a good while ago actually, but it never grew back from the place i cut it. Is this normal? because my plant is going nuts, some branches are (if they are straight) like 2/ 2,5 meters long and i really need to do something about them. But i also dont want that root to just have a dull, cut end that then stops growing.
Hello! Yes that is normal 😊 when a vine is cut, it will promote grow at other previous nodes 🌿 wall clips are definitely helpful if you have it up against a wall haha in my plant room makeover videos I actually do this on camera if you want to check out 😁💚 Thank you so much for watching!
informative video for me
Awesome! I'm so glad to hear that 😁💚🌿
Love this video! Really want to see the results!
I'll have to do a video on the results haha I never expect people to follow up and want to see the results 🙈 thank you for your interest!
@chrissi2chica Hi! I just wanted to let you know that I have finally posted an updated video of these propagations if you want to check it out 😁🌿 ruclips.net/video/RSih1arxOUY/видео.html
New sub. I am with you!! It is time for me to trim my "mini monster" because I didn't know it was a climber, and it has started to curve on the main stem and grow back towards the window where it sits. It has 7 nodes. I just need to do it, but I am so apprehensive. LOL.
Hi Sandy! Haha yes it was a tough decision but I'm glad I did! The plant will still grow so no worries there 😁 it loves to climb 100% 🌿 if you cut it then you will have more than one plant! 💚 thank you so much for watching!
No ending results. 😟 No wants to search for video for results
So sorry 💚 I didn't think this many people would be interested in this video! I like seeing results as well haha but I would say the soil with perlite and moss worked better than the water 😁 thanks for watching🌿
What a plants are you propagating ??? 🌿🌿🌿
The part I want to cut on mine is not just one long stem it is like a lot of leaves coming off a node is that okay to still cut off below the main node and propagate in water from there ??
Hi Alicia, are you talking about a bushier section? Or a vine? Either way cutting below the node would be the correct step in order to propagate. Although, it may take more time since it has to focus on growing a root system and you may lose some leaves as well. Also! Today I just posted an update video on these cutting if you want to check it out 😁💚🌿 ruclips.net/video/RSih1arxOUY/видео.html
would have been helpful to include the outcome
Hi Amanda! I did provide a video after this one 😁 I have a rhaphidora tetrasperma playlist if you want to check it out 🌿💚 thank you so much for watching
I'd like to know where you found your information about how adding pothos or philo cuttings with other plants is beneficial. I can't find anything when I search the web.
Hello Jennifer! This knowledge is based on my own experimentation and experience. This is why I said "some how... for some reason" haha I'm assuming that there is some plant science around what the roots may give off in the water to help other cuttings. But, I also haven't found anything stating that this is something beneficial to promote root growth in water. I've never heard other plant youtubers talk about this plant tip/trick haha but I do want to share this with my viewers 💚because I know that water cuttings can be a struggle to root sometimes. I invite you to check out my previous videos about propagations where I also explain how I learned this trick 😁🌿 I have a specific playlist on plant propagations!
Ive heard this once before from another youtuber. Its just a random tip thrown out there
Love From India 😍😍
Awesome! 😁 Hello from Canada 💚🌿 thanks for watching 💃
🙏😍
Today I put some mini monstera wet sticks in perlite.
Hi Margie! Oh yay! That's exciting! Good luck 😊 I hope they root for you 🌿 I have a playlist on my channel for my rhaphidophora tetrasperma if you want the updates of these cutting! Thank you so much for watching 😁💚
I’m scared to cut mine too ☺️
Will the mother plant keep growing taller now? Or will it spread out and get bushier? I want to make some new plants but don’t want the mama plant to stop growing tall. Thanks for your video!
Hi Adriane! I actually posted an update video 😁 if you want to see what happened to the mother plant and the propagation 😉 I show it in this video! ruclips.net/video/RSih1arxOUY/видео.html
Does the original plant continue to grow and vine upward?
Hello! Kind of! It pushed out from a few nodes, which technically is on the sides, but you can direct it upwards. I have a whole playlist on my channel if you want to check out the progress 😁💚🌿
I love the container humidity idea! How do you keep mold at bay i it?
Hi Angela 😁 I haven't experienced mold actually! I do open the container every night to let the air flow though
@@Melisawith1Schannel awesome! Thanks for responding 💕
No problem 😁💚🌿 thanks for watching!
New subbie! Gonna see if I can find an update video to see how this turned out. Just got my RT today and I'm excited about it. I'm currently propagating a scindapsus pictus argyreus, hoya wayetii, hoya krimson princess, and snake plants.
Hey Missy! Thanks for sticking around! Sorry I'm just seeing your comment now! It was under review for some reason. Congrats on your RT 😁💚 so many new free plant babies!! 🌿
What way works best?
I feel your pain! It hurts my feelings when I cut my plants I will never get over it! 😢
Definitely! Always a tough decision and a task that I tend to procrastinate 😅😅😅
Hi, what fertilizer would you recommend?
Hi Paulo! To be honest, I don't really have a preference when it comes to fertilizer. Thus, I wouldn't have any specific recommendation. I can tell you what I use though 😊 I used an inexpensive water soluble plant food fertilizer. I just sprinkle a bit into the jug of water every time I water my plants 😊
Will the mother continue to grow from there (from that cut)?
Hello! It will continue to grow from the closest node 😁 here is the link to the updates video and you will be able to see what happened to the mother plant 🌿💚

Thank you so much for watching 🌿💚
Hey! I just watched your video yesterday and I cut one leaf of my mini monstera! You briefly said something about leaving it out for 30 mins for it to calluse and I did that. Does that mean that it won’t get root rot? Because the last cutting I took, I had to throw it out because of root rot 😭😭😭
Hi Sofia! Thank you so much for watching 🌿💚 Letting it callus over will help prevent the cutting from rotting (turning brown) when in water 😊 let me know if you have any other questions! And good luck 😁
@@Melisawith1Schannel hi! Thanks !! I’m excited:) and yea what I was asking was if 30 mins is enough?
Also following you on Insta in a min :) !!
@@sofiaespedal8383 30 mins should be enough for a cutting of this plant 😊 but you can also check it at 30 mins and see if its dry or needs more time 🌿
Thank you 😁🌿💚
Hi! I have the same plant but got it in beginning of winter last year. It had not grown at all. I keep it next to my window, but indirect light. What should I do so it can grow?
Hi Rosa! Does it have something to climb on? And how often do you fertilize it?
@@Melisawith1Schannel yes, it has a moss pole and I used to 1x a month but then winter started so I haven't recently as its winter time.
Okay the support is great! To be honest I add a little bit of fertilizer almost every time I water the plant since they have been growing all year round. But, in the winter I substitute light with grow lights so they can continue to absorb that energy. Now that spring is around the corner I would start to fertilize your plant! Bright indirect light is definitely helpful. You can also check if it's time to repot it. Let me know if this was helpful or if you have any other questions 😁
@@Melisawith1Schannel great! Thank you for the detailed information. I will do that this week. I'll keep you posted if anything changes. Fingers crossed 🤞
@@Rosa-hb9fk Sounds good 😁 I will keep my fingers crossed for you and the plant as well 🌿💚🤞
Did the soil one do well?
Hi Jason, Yes the cutting did root! But I would recommend mixing in more perlite with soil to avoid root rot just in case. I may post an update video because I have received multiple inquiries about the results. Stay tone for that 😁💚🌿
@@Melisawith1Schannel I actually just planted a cut with two long roots with the motherplant in soil because I wasn't sure what to do 😳 the roots were nearly 10 cm though.
Yay! That's awesome 😁 was the cutting in water before you planted it with the mother plant?
@JasonSin Hi Jason! I finally posted a propagation update if you want see how the soil cutting is doing 😁🌿 ruclips.net/video/RSih1arxOUY/видео.html
What is the soil mix for tertrasperna
Hello! 😊 the mix I use is your preferred potting soil, orchid bark, and perlite. You do want it to be airy, but also it needs to hold some moisture so it doesn't dry out too fast. I do make sure to let it dry between waterings! If you're interested, I have a playlist of the videos I've about this plant 😁💚🌿
@@Melisawith1Schannel so orchid BARK . Perlite . Coco choir . Coco chips and compost
@@oceanocean1059 Sure! If you want to buy each separately
How did your mother plant grow after you cut it. Does it branch out or just grow up?
Good question! I'm actually going to show that in my next video; winter plant progress updates! It was my first time cutting it so I didn't know what to expect! A new growth point has pushed out from the side.. in more than one spot!! Looks so weird but so cool haha The cut definitely promoted new and fast growth 👌💚🌿
@@Melisawith1Schannel thanks for the reply. Best of luck!!
Thank you 🌿💚 I hope it started spreading across my wall haha
Hi! Just thought I would let you know that I show you the RT growth in the video I posted today! If you wanna see what it looks like after I cut it 😁💚🌿 ruclips.net/video/7OIwymRR8Xw/видео.html

@@Melisawith1Schannel 😊😊
Here bc my mini monsters is really struggling and I’m trying to save it. It’s a beautiful day to have a heart leaf philodendron
Hi Sarah! Sorry to hear your plant is struggling 💔 it's always good to take a cutting (or a few) to save some pieces of it just in case 😁 Thank you so much for watching 💚
What are the results of your experiment? It is better if you wait and publish the results in the same video.
Hello! I have separate updates video if you want to check it out 😁 under my Playlists on my channel you will see a playlist specifically for this plant 🌿 Thank you so much for watching!
Thank you a lot for your answer. My idea was to have everything in one video. Otherwise it is hard to follow through. But the choice is obviously up to you. Have fun with plants!
