I just picked one up from Lowe's for $13!! Its about your size with a bit bigger leaves. This was my first time going to a Lowes ever and was amazed by their plant selection!! First time seeing a mostera at a store too!! Love your videos
I was literally looking up tetrasperma care last night. This came at JUST the right time 🙏 Mine got root rot and I’m propagating and replanting pieces to save it!
Thank you SO much for explaining the tissue culture! I have been trying for so long to figure out why mine looks so different from the rhaphidophora tetrasperma that I was hoping for. Love the detailed explanation that you give here 😊
Great care video! You covered every base 👍 My Rhaphidophora tetrasperma had root rot several months ago so I chopped her up to propagate her and about three quarters of them failed 😞. Maybe it was just my particular specimen because I’ve never had propagations fail like that before. I too use Liquidirt and I love it. I replaced fish emulsion with it because the emulsion smell was driving my dogs nuts 🤪 I use it with every watering all year round and my collection seems pretty happy with it. Thank you for another informative video. Your charming manner and wealth of plant knowledge has easily made you one of my favorite plant tubers 💚
root rot with these plants is sooo common! even in this comment section! it's good to know you use liquidirt year round with no problems. i feel better about doing the same. thanks so much for watching ☺️
I literally thought I didn’t have this plant, so I was doubting to watch until later. But then I started doing plant chores, and I realized I have a cutting... I think I’m getting close to ‘too many plants’😅😅😅
Yayyy I just got one a few weeks ago from a big box store....replaced the soil and cleansed the roots with peroxide just to be safe. It was reallll sad for a while but it is bouncing back now! Thanks for the tips on this plant!
Bought 2 cuttings a couple days ago and I’ve been trying to figure out what to propagate them in... have them in perlite and water but I think I’m gonna transfer them to sphagnum 😬
Omg I got one of these in April for $8 at my local nursery with no clue what it was, it broke recently so I’ve been doing research on propagation and I’m so excited to propagate it!! I’m so happy I found your video, thank you!! 💕
How about propagating In coco coir? Will that work. I got root rot in my Pothos with Regular Soil mixed perlite and coco coir. Is Coco Coir alone better?
This plant is driving me MAD!! I’m a huge philodendron collector. I’ve been growing my collection for over 4yrs now. I own 6 Huuuge monstera deliciousa and numerous other philodendrons. My huuge monsteras have always been one of my most favorite plants.. About 2months ago I bought this plant thinking how adorable would this be to add near my huuge monstera split leaf plants. Someone sold me a well rooted cutting and I take the exact same care of it like I do with every other philodendron. Unfortunately this plant haaates me! Idk why?!? It is mind blowing. Every other philodendron I own thrive and Grow enormous. Idk what I’m doing wrong with this plant but I’m to the point where I often think about giving it away or just letting it die. It keeps getting wilted leaves, I only water it about once a week (just like all my other philodendrons.) I have it in a tiny pot so I know it’s not from root root or anything crazy. Idk if the plant is homesick from its original home? I just can’t figure it out. I’ve tried everything imaginable. I have multiple grow tents and humidifiers in them. All my other plants thrive. This one is the most temperamental plant I’ve ever had in my entire life..! It’s so gorgeous too. But, unfortunately it’s just not happy nomatter what I do for it. I’ve heard ppl say they think pink princess are hard to grow. Lol, I’d much rather deal with a pink princess then this plant. I have five ppp. Not one has ever gaven me any problems.. it’s constantly wilting and I just can’t figure out why?!? If anyone has any advice I’d really appreciate it cos I’m at my Whitt’s end with it and so disappointed😰😤🤦🏼♀️🙄😭 The person who sold me it - told me to give it water downed coffee once a month. I still haven’t done that cos I think the soil I have it in is acidic enough. I’m wondering now if maybe it was use to drinking coffee and is wanting more? Idk? Any suggestions would be much appreciated. I have her in a 2” starter pot.. well draining aroid soil mix, and I also give all my plants a liquid fertilizer once a month.. any advice?
ok 7:15 I see you. Those moss poles are a flex🥵 I love when you do these dedicated info videos because mine hasn’t been doing well and I’ve learned that I’m under watering a lot. Im definitely going to be making an actual moss pole for it too because the random chop stick I have it tied to isn’t cutting it (who woulda thought). I’m so excited though! I finally got my Good & Planty shirt in the mail AND I finally bought a peperomia peppermill like I’ve been saying I would do every time you show yours. Time for a photoshoot😂
YESSS! i am so glad you finally got the peppermill!! and the merch of course😉 i was so pumped to have a real pole for the rhaph since i've always just leaned it on the wardrobe haha
Ugh, this plant. A friend gave me a few nice cuttings she had rooted in water early this summer. I potted them up, got some good growth, had it sitting on my back patio in a semi shady area….then this week found the plant lying on its side in the pot. The entire stem under soil level was mush. I didn’t think I was overwatering so not sure what happened. I was able to save the top, potted it up in a little hydroponic pot, put it on my kitchen windowsill…and in the morning found my cat had eaten half of it. The windowsill is not easy to get onto, so she went to a lot of trouble to get to it. Obviously not as toxic as they say because my plant-eating cat is fine. She didn’t even throw up. She’s pretty tough. She once ate an entire African violet. In bloom. I bought it in full flower, put it on my kitchen counter, and in the morning there was nothing left. Drives me crazy. I’ve had so many cats and though occasionally one would nibble on a plant, never have I had a cat as destructive as this one.
Great video! I adore how thorough you are! I would love an update as to how using Liquidirt during the winter goes! My plants have been loving Liquidirt this growing season! I just got a Rhaphidophora for 13$! Very excited to see how it grows for me! Thanks for the info!

What moisture meter do you recommend? I tried one and it always said my plants were dry. I usually do a finger test, but with new soil blends I've been trying it's harder to tell.
Hi i just got one and it grows to one side and has a very thick stem ? , and the leafs clustered together like less than a 1 centimeters , i really want it to grow vertically? Up to ceiling .annd not sideways almost hanging How can i make it grow vertically? Thank u
Loving the cut!💇♀️I had 2 medium sized ones and one Small one. Just gave one to a bestie. I let mine dry out. Water once a week but they are in 4 inch pots. Mine have been popping out leaves like no other. 😜
How long does it take for the propagation to start growing? Mine has been in water for over two weeks and hasn't started growing any roots, but a new leaf has grown? really strange
I just got one of these and repotted it out of the nursery pot into a regular pot. The soil has been staying pretty moist without me watering it even though I used some draining additives in the soil mix. The soil is drying out a tiny bit over time but I was just wondering if I should repot it into even more well draining soil?? 😅 💗
It might be that the plant isn't getting enough light! If it's taking more than a week for the plant to dry out, then maybe switching the soil is a good idea. I'd give it some time if it's not an emergency so that it can acclimate to your home.
@Byron Lee ~ my local nursery did basically the same thing. They had the Rhaphis listed as just "monstera" and had them next to the Deliciosas. I knew what they were and grabbed one. As I was paying for it, I mentioned this to the cashier. Three weeks later I went back to the nursery and they had all the Rhaphis relisted as Monstera Ginny. LOL.
@something.about.plants ~ A couple of months ago I saw some Rhaphis at our local farmer's market and the vendor had them labeled as Split-Leaf Philodendron. This adorable little plant sure goes by a lot of names ... most of them wrong, of course. LOL.
Thank you! Mine was a little yuck when I bought it . It basically died . I think it’s because they nursery left chunks of stalks and root out of the soil ... I grew a prop .. repotted it making sure to keep soil covering the stump they left. and fast forward 6 months it’s about as big as it was originally but healthier looking . That being said ... it’s not like super tall or pushing mad leaves out . It’s still staying leeeeettle . But it looks healthy so I guess size shouldn’t matter
