    What was you're voltage like after the 3400 was installed?

  • @Krispy74447
    @Krispy74447 3 года назад +4

    In my opinion you should start with H/O alternator. Alternator creates the power, batteries just store it. There's an easy formula to see how many amps you need. Take the power your Amp puts out in watts, divide by Amp efficiency(roughly 70 to 80%), divide by voltage reading. I.e. 2500w ÷ .7 ÷ 13 = 274.2 amps Your system requires 275amps to fully power itself at 2500w. That's 275 amps on top of whatever your vehicle requires to run normally. No matter how many batteries you use your stock alternator will never keep up amd you will always have large voltage drops. There will always be some slight voltage drop no matter what but set up properly it is almost nonexistent. I have a mechman 400amp alt and 1 d3400 for my 3000w system and I have zero issues. My voltage stays between 14.4 and 13.8. Hope this helps someone.

      some say "the 12V batteries the D and S series batteries are the same exact battery. Only differences are the D series has blue decals and no terminals (you can buy the 580 or 586 terminals if you want), and the S series has red decals and comes with terminals." and that S is lightweight for racing and D is heavier with more reserves for car audio.

      I have a D3400 as my primary, and a Blockshakers supplemental battery for my audio system. It's supported by a 370amp mechman alternator. I run two amplifiers. A 150wx4 4 channel, and a 3000w monoblock, both from Zapco. I have zero issues and never drop below 14 volts. The science between matched batteries is sensible as electricity works in a push pull fashion. Still, I've had no trouble whatsoever.

    what amp alternator you running that with? i've got one of the d3400 in my 95 caprice with a 250amp high output alternator and i think the alternator is having trouble keeping the xs power battery charged. debating between getting a different alternator or switching out the battery to something with less watts.....

      240a mechman, got 2 xs power d3400s and the alternator keeps up with my 2kw system. I also use a solar panel to keep it topped off when the truck is not in use, check my other vids for how to hook that up.

      You can buy adapters at any auto parts store for under $10. For charging, under normal operation, your alternator should be enough. If the car sits for periods of time, try any trickle charger, or check out my video where i show how to use a solar panel.

  • @freezer1935
    @freezer1935 6 лет назад +5

    You can't put batteries in parallel their "internal resistance" is always going to be different always draining from each other any Electrical Engineer will tell you that.
    To correct it, is you will need either a high current diodes in series to isolate each battery. Or just use "BRUTE FORCE" like you may be doing now tying them together. You need to use a high current relay to take the place of both of the batteries being in parallel with the power turned off.

    • @rocbola
      @rocbola  6 лет назад +2

      I keep the batteries hooked up to a solar panel with charge regulator so they float at around 13.7 during the daytime when the sun is out. I have not had any problems with them so far.

  • @JohnG1000
    @JohnG1000 4 года назад

    Should have waited to install both new batteries at the same time . Now one will go bad before the other and cause issues later in their battery life .
