I just bought a d6500 for under hood, they are rated for 3000/4000W on the Xs power website. I’m still learning as well, so not sure why the range. Maybe under hood versus supplemental? I’m running a sundown scv4k on two American Bass hd12s @ 1ohm, a JL audio xd400/4 @ 2ohms on doors and a Singer 270a alt, so another lithium battery for the trunk is in my future as soon as I scrape up $500 and $100 for a charger. House payment and kids come first of course! Gotta pay to play and it NEVER ends like I unknowingly promised my wife at the beginning lol 🤷‍♂️ I’m lucky she is cool with it (for the most part haha). Keep up the good work man!

You should always do alternator first batteries don’t create amps they store it. A factory alternator has its limits. You can add more batteries but you can only charge them so fast so if your sucking everything from the alternator the batteries are gonna charge slower.

Not necessarily, it is very much possible to run a stock alt and not have issues with charging. If you have plenty of Lithium or can get double or triple what's required with a 240a alternator (for example) then a 3 minute song full tilt may very well be achieved. I'm pretty sure I just saw a guy with a pretty healthy system on stock alt on JacobViral but I could be mistaken.

After watching your video I learned a lot on how to calculate amps and wattages. With me still be new to the car audio I only had one amp at the time with everything stock. After some time now have a total of three amps tweeters, Mids and Sub I'm running Active. My total RMS is roughly 1304 total = 130 amps, I still have a stock Alternator and OEM battery I've looked online to find the alternator output but couldn't find it so I just added up all the fuses and divided it by 12 and got like 170amps. So with all that being said and seeing the last bit of your video since I am under 2000 and plan to stay under that should I even get a H/O alternator and instead just get an AMG battery?
Amps I am using are two RE audio SA 90.4: 4 ohms 63x4
    Skar RP-1200.1D - 2 ohms: 800watts for a Sundown Zv5 12" D2 in a ported box

I need a higher output alt im running an ebay 250 amp alt and its only putting out 180 at 2000 rpm and I agree about getting more batteries first. Thats what im working on now. I only have 3 115ah deep cycle batts which is not enough even with the 180amp alt. I'm trying to push 4600 watts and the vehicle I have uses alot of amps on it own, especially with the air on.
You may have to give you're system a break to let the alt get the batteries back up but you can always get a high output alt later when you can afford it. My system does 150's but I know I can get more out of it with more power. Thanks for the video Jacob.

And you get max output from one of them cheap alts if you're running your engine at 50+ % RPM. Not to mention that these cheap alts also have poor voltage regulators which are slow to react and thus cause sudden battery voltage drop when your bass hits hard. I just made this stupid mistake.

18k watts rms? That’s a lot of power. I would suggest a dual alt system and atleast 120ah of lithium, if agm then 6+ group 31s

Jacob viral I got a question for you man and I hope this is not to long but I will try to sum it up
I have 1 12” l7 in my 2500hd it had a 1200 watt kicker amp, running zero gauge everything wired up right, great ground.
My issue is, it plays perfect at about 50% volume but when you put it closer to 75/80% volume the battery gauge crashes on the dash board when the bass hits hard and the actual door speakers start to cut out and skip and of course the lights dim like crazy.
Idk what the issue is Iv never had issues with my vehicles in the past doing this, I could easily put the volume at 90% and play it for 30/40 minutes on rides no issue.
Man nobody can seem to find the issue but it seems like it’s just draining the truck so bad when the bass hits (hard) do you know if I should try a different battery next? Thanks man really need some help

Hey David sounds like you need a voltage meter to monitor voltage and upgraded electrical. I would get a group 34 AGM amzn.to/3FtME7z as a 2nd battery and do the BIG 3 upgrade: ruclips.net/video/qNQoVGlUzCY/видео.html

@@JacobViral2 thanks for responding so fast, man looking at your vids you def seem like you have a really good understanding of audio systems and electronics, unfortunately I’m not very mechanically inclined but I think if I give myself enough time one day and watch this vids I can get it done.
I’m with you I feel it’s a power supply issue, I mean the truck litteraly crashing on the dash gauge will tell me that, in the past I had the same system In a 96 z71 and a 2006 1500 and they all had no issues playing close to peak volume/power but this truck just can’t take it past about 65% volume. Thanks for the advice and for answering so quick I will keep your Chanel and I’m sure I’ll have lots of more questions in the future.
It’s just sucks to pay the money for competition grade subs and only be able to play at 65% volume lol

I had the same problem upgraded the 4 channel amp to 4 gauge which was on a 8 gauge problem solved

I'm running a 250amp power bastard alt with one under the hood xsd3400r+ big 3 all ofc 0 gauge, my power run is only 12ft and my only ground to the amp is 2ft in the trunk, I power a RFt2500bdcp no problem. The lowest I've seen my voltage drop in the city with everything running +heated seats wipers fog lights and heated steering wheel is 13.2 and that's full tilt now. Huge difference with the alt.....next I think I'm gonna try a smaller pulley and belt

Could I use my stock lead acid up front and safely put an agm battery in the trunk? Or do I need to have the same types of batteries?

    • @3RDERA
      @3RDERA 3 года назад +2

Lot of different factors that will determine if you can get away with it, but the safe and reliable answer is no. The one that rests higher will get voltage taken from it(The battery that rests lower, will try to be the same as the other battery and take some of its juice to try and rest at the same voltage) slowly overtime it will drain the higher resting battery and deplete its life cycle substantially. This happens whenever the car is off. To help with this ,not fix it, you can run a battery isolater-that will help separate the batteries when The car is off. So they don’t fight each other, and when the car is on, they will be in parallel to give you the reserve capacity of both batteries. But just know that all batteries accept a charge differently from the alternator. So even Though the isolater will help to some extent, The lead acid will deplet faster more Th an likely than the agm when playing your system, and will demand more recharging more often, so the batteries will not be heating up and cooling down at The same time, nor producing their output potential at the same time, nor will they recover at the same time. Hope that helps somewhat. I’m no expert, but it’s a little I’ve picked up on over The years

3RD ERA that clears up quite a bit. Thanks for the help but for now I’ll probably just upgrade the under the hood battery to agm

You sure can. People must not know about a battery isolator.

A battery isolator will keep it separate so you don't drain your stock battery. That's how I have my civic. And have for years.

Goobus TheGreat. In most cases under 1000-1200 watts rms or so, you can get away with a single battery and stock alternator. Just be sure to have solid connections for power and ground( alternator charging wire to positive battery, alternator bracket/negative casing point to the chassis of the vehicle, engine block to chassis of vehicle, and battery negative to chassis/and or engine block)-Are examples of where you want a solid path for the current to flow. As long as the current flow has sufficient wire to pass through, and it’s installed in a manner to limit resistance (connection points solid, tight and corrosion free) and protected as best you can from being punctured and/or suffer from heat damage), you shouldn’t have any problems unless your current demand is more than your alternator and battery working in tandem can keep up with. I’d personally recommend ofc. That’s just my opinion. Best of luck.
