I remember before Hardwired came out, I saw a fan online who thought the song Murder One was going to be a sequel to One. Everybody knew beforehand that the song was going to be a tribute to Lemmy, except for this guy. He had this whole theory about how it was going to be about killing the soldier in One as to pretty much put him out of his misery. I felt kinda bad for the guy because he had this whole thing built up in his head about what he thought this song would be, while literally everybody else (correctly) knew what it was really gonna be about.

      Andriy Vasylenko long time indeed
I would also suppose that One is the song on AJFA with the best audible bass, especially on the machinegun part

Maybe I haven’t heard all Metallica’s songs, but comparing “One” to others famous songs of them, I find it to be the best one. Like a sad poem with a beautiful and complex music behind it.

When I was at Uni studying Music, we had to pick our favourite song and write a speech on why it was our favourite, and analyse it. I chose One \m/. Oh, the machine gun riff is what got me in to Metallica in the first place

exactly one year ago I started music lessons because I suck at everything when it comes to theory.. and now watching this video and understand every fucking word, hearing chords by just their mention and relate to what you teach us feels great.. girls and boys, you all should start getting theory lessons!

One was the first Metallica song I ever heard while hanging out with my older cousins who were headbangers and the video came on Mtv. I've always considered it Metallica's finest song, maybe because it was the first one I heard and it blew my ears and ass off.

Dude, you thought about this exactly the way I did. I'm gonna check out the long version of the video. This song IS brilliant. The intro is actually the first thing I ever learned on guitar (obvious reasons), but I can still entertain my mind just thinking about different aspects of the song.

Dude, you're amazing, thanks for showing and teaching me and other people music theory that is used in this gem of a song. And also, teaching me some things that I did when composing but didn't know why it sounded good. Here's a like and subscribe! :D

I've been saying this for years, I think that once someone hears the idea that One changed everything, they get it, but I think it's great that you played a bit of "Californication" because they are one of the bands that I point to as an example of bands that benefit from the idea of mixing power ballads and harder rock together. I'm not a huge metal guy, but it's obvious. I'm 45 years old. BTW
