    I have the same kayak! And I like your method of no drilling into the kayak itself! I will attempt to do the same for mine! Keep the great advice and up dates coming!

    Very nice design!! Just bought my 10t new last week and want to raise the seat. I’m going to do something very similar to what you’ve done. Thank for sharing!!

    Great mod. I was looking to buy this kayak but didn’t like the seat so low. You solved my problem if I go with this yak. Thanks and have fun.

    Very nice mod, that is clean and easy to remove. I found on my 10T that I use the very first notch at the front which helped with the stability issue.

    I wouldve never thought of this! Just found how I want to raise my seat for lakes but keep it lower for river trips. Thanks!

    That is the best idea I have seen yet! I have a 12T with the cross bars attached directly to the seat frame but I'm gonna see if I can adapt this concept to work in my 12T

    Just get a flat flotation cushion and strap it on the seat…raises you up 2-3” AND gives you more comfort. Cheap and easy.

      Bill Hottovy K. Took it out for a few outs. The mod was stable and worked well. I will say two things. 1) it was windy. Winds we around 8 to 10 mph and that made things interesting. 2). When I first launched, I thought I had made a mistake. Wow, it seemed really tippy. But after I was on it for a bit, it was fine. I didn’t even notice the stability difference. All in all, glad I did it. It was easier on my legs.

    Great idea!!! I’m going to go a step further, and put a small platform on top, and put on a swivel mount , and bass boat seat on it. You can buy outrigger stabilizers from Wish for about $100 bucks. It’s cheaper to buy the bar kit, and bags separate. You just have to search for the cheapest price. They look all the same, except for price. Shipping is reasonable to.

      Well, I am not really set up to do on the water videos. I will admit that it changed the stability, but once I was on the water for about 15 or 20 minutes, I got comfortable.

    I have the same kayak, I have used for a couple times and notice that the floor is starting to crack where the chair sits. I am the only one with that problem? Also put a trolling motor and it is too much weight on the back (solve it with the battery in the front)

  • @mattw5277

    Awesome,, just curious what size rivets did you go with?

    • @martyhoskins3249
      @martyhoskins3249  4 года назад +1

      Matt W They are what was available at Academy. They are 3/16” (at least that is the drill bit size) Yak Gear rivets.

  • @scottmcbride2237

    What will help to stabilize this yak a lot. Believe it or not. Just try this. Don't put scuffer plugs in the two holes in front of the seat. Big difference.

    • @martyhoskins3249
      @martyhoskins3249  4 года назад

      robert griffin I wish I could but I am not equipped to do videos on the water. Just know it will make it less stable and if there is wind, I don’t use the raised seat. I got used to the tippiness pretty quickly though.

    Do the golf balls work good?

    • @martyhoskins3249

      Steven Cook The ones I have do. I notice that some of the foam golf balls are softer than others. The stiffer ones want to pop back out. The softer ones work really well.

    How's the stability now?

    • @martyhoskins3249
      @martyhoskins3249  4 года назад

      John Fitzhugh Oh it’s definitely more “tippy” but I quickly adjusted. Two of the three times I’ve had it out, the winds were around 10 mph so that made it hard to judge.

    • @martyhoskins3249

      John Fitzhugh Yes. I have considered it. Mainly because I would like to stand and fish. I have some ideas about an adjustable self build. My next project will likely be a rudder to improve tracking.
