As an existing customer, I am very happy to have iCon installed at my home. Certain facts are misleading. 400W solar panel can produce under best conditions 1.6 KWH per day. Even if you give 90% efficiency to the MPPT charge controller, the benefit boils down to 1.44KWH. For a month this unit can give you 43.2 units of power and the savings can only be 43 X 3.5 = 150 rupees per moth. This is the best. Now coming to the price, UTL solar panels are available at Rs 25000 per kilowatt. UTL solar SMU will cost 3000. A bit of effort from your side and you can get 120 units benefit per month. Going solar should be own your own for small budgets up to 50K. Need professionals for Grid Tie systems. Good luck. Informative video.
SMU will reduce the battery life by 50% due to periodic repeated charging and discharging there by negating all benefits. I have tried all these arrangements and realised that the option for going solar cannot be an economic benefit one but a social benefit one. Only a grid tied inverter can give benefit, that too if invested for commercial self use where you are paying 9 rupees per unit. I have installed a 10 KW grid tied unit which makes my electricity bill zero. I exported 5000units last year after my consumption of about 7000 units and got a paltry 15000 this year. Either consume all that you produce or install for commercial purpose. I also have a one kilowatt off grid system on which I have connected a 3.5KW inverter. Batteries are four 200AH with a system voltage of 48. I addition I have a wind turbine1500W also operating at 48V. These off-grid systems are for back up. These systems will not save you from reducing electricity bills to the extent of investment unless done on a large scale. Subsidies must increase and if possible invest 130K for a 3KW grid tied system. Good luck!!
After having said so much, I have the following recommendations. Single battery inverter systems be used only for back up lest they stop giving you back up after two years. Go in for a two battery 24V system so that you can run heavy duty appliances too for short while. If you want to save money, just buy one solar panel and a charge controller unit and use the inverter only for back up. Do not charge from mains unless necessary. Use C10 batteries for all solar applications. C20 batteries will get spoilt very fast. Hope interested ones are taking note. Others will take note after a while. Good luck.

Sir, this is to cut the mains and evacuate solar energy through the inverter. also to make sure that battery charging from mains is inhibited during normal operation to reduce the consumption from mains

@@BinsonPaulMenachery Sir, there is only a single AC incomer and it goes out to the inverter's existing AC in through the inbuilt moulded socket on the right side of iCON. Only a single connection for AC in and out.
The logic built into the SMU, in this case Icon , will decide at what point the system should charge from battery, from grid, or cut grid altogether etc. Hence the SMU takes the input AC connection and switches between various options!

Well done friends. Like to get a feed back My monthly consumption,( in Bangalore) including use of a 1 ton AC in Summer months about 3- 4 months a year is about Rs2500/- and units 335- 350. Other months it is units 200-230 Units and Rs1300/- Rs1600/ I have an inverter of APC,make 1 KW. My major consumers 1. 1 ton AC summer use only 2. Submersible pump 2 HP 3. Mixy, fridge 420 lit. Based on your energy usage, you can save around 75 to 90 units per month by connecting a 600 Wp solar power. The loads supported by your inverter will be powered by solar using this option. I have Exide inverter 1050VA + 12V Exide tall tubular battery 200 AH. I'm normally getting a backup of upto 24 hrs on long power cut since all my lights are LED and fans are BLDC. Sir, thanks for your questions. Pardon us for the delay in responding. Answering each of your queries below, 1. If you are using a 200Ah battery, we suggest you use 3 Nos of 200Wp solar panels. That is, a total capacity of 600 watts. 2. The total installation cost will be between 37,000 to 40,000 for your system. The variation is in length of cables used, the mounting structure to be used for solar panels etc. We can arrive at a final price once we complete a site inspection 3. The inverter takes care of converting DC to AC. iCON just acts as an enabler for the solar power to be either used for charging the battery or powering the AC loads via inverter. This system shown in video is a 700W 12V inverter and hence the solar panel capacity is 400 watt. Hello Sir, this is Harsh from Energy24by7. iCON is connected only to the inverter line and the KSEB supply to the inverter alone is tripped by iCON to evacuate from solar and battery according to load requirement. The high power appliances you mentioned will be wired separately and it's working is independent of iCON. As used now,if you have KSEB supply in your home, it will work at all time and If there is a power failure, you will not be able to use these equipment. Trust we have cleared your doubt. This is not suitable for heavy capacity users. Its just a low capacity system for small uses. I think, u have 3kw ongrid, u can upgrade that to 5kw for the total usage.

Hi, I guess you did not get my point. Example: I install a 5 kwh solar power unit at my home in the near future. (Currently, I have a standard inverter + single battery). And I install iCon as well to convert my inverter to solar. Now, here my is query: After completing all these installations, will I be able to charge an electric car at home either at night or day?
One kilowatt panel will give you 4 KWH per day. One 12v 150 AH battery can store 1.8 KWH energy. You can draw 80%. Battery based systems are very expensive. 1KW system at 48V will cost approx 100K. Electric cars will take 30 to 40 units per charge. So it cannot be from stored energy but directly from grid. So the option for you would be a grid tied system. If you charge your car every alternate day, you will need 15 x 40 = 600 units for that alone. And chances are that you would be having one or two ACs and other gadgets. If the battery capacity is 200AH, 600W solar modules can be used. The price will start from around Rs.55K. All lights, fan, TV and small appliances like chargers, WiFi etc run on an iCUBE 1000. iCUBE 2000 can be used with 2*150AH batteries and with 520W or 780W Mono PERC solar modules. If 2*200AH battery is used, you can use upto 1040W solar modules. The price will start from Rs.75K. iCUBE 2000 can run a refrigerator, top load washing machine and even a small electric iron (all of these not together) and regular light, TV, small appliances and fan loads. We do not use any fans or electrolytic capacitors (MPPT will need either or both) in the power train so that long term reliability is not affected. Also the extra panel wattage for small systems will cost similar to an MPPT. Hence we chose to not use MPPT in small capacity systems.

We have a MPPT which can be connected anywhere between the solar panel array and iCON. പൊളിയായിട്ടുണ്ട്. ഞാൻ ഒരു electrical എഞ്ചിനീയർ ആണ്. എന്റെ വീട്ടിൽ സാധാരണ ഇൻവെർട്ടർ വെച്ച ശേഷം ഒരുപാട് കറന്റ് ബില്ല് കൂടിയിരുന്നു. അങ്ങനെയാണ് ഈ ഇൻവെർട്ടറിന്റെ technolgy പറ്റി പഠിച്ചത് . ഇവര് പറഞ്ഞ കാര്യങ്ങൾ ഒക്കെ നടന്നാൽ നല്ല രീതിയിൽ ലാഭം വരുന്ന സംഭവം ആണ്. എന്നാലും നമ്മടെ കുഞ്ഞു കേരളത്തിലും hardware design ചെയ്യാനും, manufacture ചെയ്യാനും പിള്ളേർ ഉണ്ടെന്നു അറിഞ്ഞപ്പോ ഒരു സന്തോഷം. സാധനത്തിന്റെ look കണ്ടിട്ട്, പഴയ star wars പടങ്ങളിലെ ഒരു ഒറ്റ കണ്ണൻ storm trooper പോലെ ഉണ്ട്. നല്ല വീഡിയോ ഇക്ക. ഞാൻ തീർച്ചയായും ഇവരെ വിളിക്കുന്നുണ്ട്.

Certain facts are misleading. 400W solar panel can produce under best conditions 1.6 KWH per day. Even if you give 90% efficiency to the MPPT charge controller, the benefit boils down to 1.44KWH. For a month this unit can give you 43.2 units of power and the savings can only be 43 X 3.5 = 150 rupees per moth. This is the best. Now coming to the price, UTL solar panels are available at Rs 25000 per kilowatt. UTL solar SMU will cost 3000. A bit of effort from your side and you can get 120 units benefit per month. Going solar should be own your own for small budgets up to 50K. Need professionals for Grid Tie systems. Good luck. Informative video.
SMU will reduce the battery life by 50% due to periodic repeated charging and discharging there by negating all benefits. I have tried all these arrangements and realised that the option for going solar cannot be an economic benefit one but a social benefit one. Only a grid tied inverter can give benefit, that too if invested for commercial self use where you are paying 9 rupees per unit. I have installed a 10 KW grid tied unit which makes my electricity bill zero. I exported 5000units last year after my consumption of about 7000 units and got a paltry 15000 this year. Either consume all that you produce or install for commercial purpose. I also have a one kilowatt off grid system on which I have connected a 3.5KW inverter. Batteries are four 200AH with a system voltage of 48. I addition I have a wind turbine1500W also operating at 48V. These off-grid systems are for back up. These systems will not save you from reducing electricity bills to the extent of investment unless done on a large scale. After having said so much, I have the following recommendations. Single battery inverter systems be used only for back up lest they stop giving you back up after two years. Go in for a two battery 24V system so that you can run heavy duty appliances too for short while. If you want to save money, just buy one solar panel and a charge controller unit and use the inverter only for back up. Do not charge from mains unless necessary. Use C10 batteries for all solar applications. C20 batteries will get spoilt very fast. Hope interested ones are taking note. Others will take note after a while. Good luck.

Sir, this is to cut the mains and evacuate solar energy through the inverter. also to make sure that battery charging from mains is inhibited during normal operation to reduce the consumption from mains

The logic built into the SMU, in this case Icon , will decide at what point the system should charge from battery, from grid, or cut grid altogether etc. Hence the SMU takes the input AC connection and switches between various options!

Sadly, None, Sir. ACs, Geysers, power plugs and Microwave ovens are generally connected to a different circuit in the house and not through the inverter or UPS

Thanks for sharing your energy consumption details. There are two options here,
1. You can convert your existing 1 KVA APC UPS to Solar using iCON. Based on your energy usage, you can save around 75 to 90 units per month by connecting a 600 Wp solar power. The loads supported by your inverter will be powered by solar using this option. We already have a customer in Bangalore.'
2. You can go for an on grid power plant for the total consumption. Considering the higher consumption of 350 units per month, a 3kW system should be fine for your usage.

I have Exide inverter 1050VA + 12V Exide tall tubular battery 200 AH. I'm normally getting a backup of upto 24 hrs on long power cut since all my lights are LED and fans are BLDC. I need to install icon so my questions are;
1. how many panels are required for charging the 200Ah battery?
2. how much will be the total installation cost for me?
3. How the solar power is distributed to mains as AC when there is no charging happens? is icon converts the DC solar power to AC to distribute to the mains?

1. If you are using a 200Ah battery, we suggest you use 3 Nos of 200Wp solar panels. That is, a total capacity of 600 watts.
2. The total installation cost will be between 37,000 to 40,000 for your system. The variation is in length of cables used, the mounting structure to be used for solar panels etc. We can arrive at a final price once we complete a site inspection
3. The inverter takes care of converting DC to AC. iCON just acts as an enabler for the solar power to be either used for charging the battery or powering the AC loads via inverter. This is dependent on the state of battery, the loads being consumed and the incoming solar power and is detailed in the video from 12:45'

Hello Sir, you are converting your existing inverter to solar power. Only the appliances connected to inverter wiring will be powered from solar. This system shown in video is a 700W 12V inverter and hence the solar panel capacity is 400 watt. If you have a higher power inverter with fridge and motor connected, we can convert that also into solar power with adequate panel capacity. Please contact us if you have any more queries. Hello Sir, this is Harsh from Energy24by7. iCON is connected only to the inverter line and the KSEB supply to the inverter alone is tripped by iCON to evacuate from solar and battery according to load requirement. The high power appliances you mentioned will be wired separately and it's working is independent of iCON. As used now,if you have KSEB supply in your home, it will work at all time and If there is a power failure, you will not be able to use these equipment. Trust we have cleared your doubt. This is not suitable for heavy capacity users. Its just a low capacity system for small uses. I think, u have 3kw ongrid, u can upgrade that to 5kw for the total usage.

Hi, I guess you did not get my point. Example: I install a 5 kwh solar power unit at my home in the near future. (Currently, I have a standard inverter + single battery). And I install iCon as well to convert my inverter to solar. Now, here my is query: After completing all these installations, will I be able to charge an electric car at home either at night or day?
One kilowatt panel will give you 4 KWH per day. One 12v 150 AH battery can store 1.8 KWH energy. You can draw 80%. Battery based systems are very expensive. 1KW system at 48V will cost approx 100K. Electric cars will take 30 to 40 units per charge. So it cannot be from stored energy but directly from grid. So the option for you would be a grid tied system. If you charge your car every alternate day, you will need 15 x 40 = 600 units for that alone. And chances are that you would be having one or two ACs and other gadgets. For getting 1000KWH every month, I use a 10KW system. Rest for you to calculate. Godd luck! Jai Green! Jai Hind!

Hello, Sir. You will need a battery based system (voltage source) or the energy has to be exported to the grid. You can use a solar inverter like iCUBE to utilize solar. But then you will have to buy solar panels, iCUBE and batteries.

iCUBE 1000 can be used with a 12V 150AH battery and with 400W Mono PERC solar module. If the battery capacity is 200AH, 600W solar modules can be used. The price will start from around Rs.55K. All lights, fan, TV and small appliances like chargers, WiFi etc run on an iCUBE 1000.
iCUBE 2000 can be used with 2*150AH batteries and with 520W or 780W Mono PERC solar modules. If 2*200AH battery is used, you can use upto 1040W solar modules. The price will start from Rs.75K. iCUBE 2000 can run a refrigerator, top load washing machine and even a small electric iron (all of these not together) and regular light, TV, small appliances and fan loads.
Some customers are reporting that new generation BLDC water pumps also runs from iCUBE 2000. There are sites where 0.5HP water pumps run on it, but in most sites it will not run as the total pumping head is high and the locked rotor current during starting will trip the solar inverter. Also you should be getting an output of 4 to 4.5 times the solar panel power daily depending on whether your load usage is there during the day or not. So a 1kW solar panel will yield 4 to 4.5 units daily and will equate to 120 to 135 units per month. You can choose the solar panels depending on the units used at your home per month.

Alla, Sir. For small capacity panels, we thought it is better to keep 20% extra panels than to increase the complexity. We do not use any fans or electrolytic capacitors (MPPT will need either or both) in the power train so that long term reliability is not affected. Also the extra panel wattage for small systems will cost similar to an MPPT. Hence we chose to not use MPPT in small capacity systems.

@@Jithuuthaman Sir, MPPT will require fans (high speed switching regulators)and electrolytic capacitors. Most of our customers are using below 1kW and we did not want to introduce such complexities. We have a MPPT which can be connected anywhere between the solar panel array and iCON. But we do not promote it as we think iCON can stay service free in the market for more than 25 years as it does not have fans or E caps in the energy path. Right pointed mentioned by you though.
