    This thing worked great in my 2006 110ci Yamaha warrior, especially noticed a big change in moving off at a light, instant torque from idle. I use cobra swept header pipes and vh strataliner collector to get a up swept 2 into one. Im surprised the thing works as well as it does.

    To anyone considering these things, I can't recommend them enough. After I installed them in my Vance and Hines Straight Shots (installed on my 2005 HD Night Train), the significant torque dip off idle was completely eliminated, and the torque curve was smoothed out and extended. The Straight Shots also have a raspy tone to them. The TTIs got rid of the rasp, and gave the tone a nice deep rumble. On top of all that, you won't find a better company to deal with than DK Custom. Great products. Great people.

    I put these for my 05 Electraglide Classic with no name slip ons. At first I was happy with the sound but the power didn't feel quite right. I went so far as to remove them and put my baffles back in. I emailed tech support and you guys were very helpful and responded quickly, It seems that the bike just needed to settle in with the new exhaust flow. I put them back in and now after a couple of 100 miles, it runs great, sounds great and I'm happy with them. I track my MPG and if anyone is interested the TTI didn't effect my MPG one way or the other.

    Good points, these can help the torque and mid range and decel popping of open ended pipes (if the OEM mufflers have been modified or you have no or low restrictions in your Aftermarket exhaust).. from my own experiences , They did help torque, mid range (subsequently fuel mileage too) on 2 out of 3, of my large vee twin bikes.. Of the bike it didn't help the torque or mid range (full true dual Vance and Hines exhaust with Titan 4.5" mufflers) .. I saw no fuel consumption increase or decrease, but it did seem to hurt my horsepower alittle noticed in the higher RPMs.. so out they came.. Good point about the fender washer I would mention if your insert stem is mounted upward in the tube (rather than at 6 oclock location) that the moisture collection over time will not be near as problematic.. If you create too much blockage, you will notice a loss of Hp before you notice a loss of torque. If you are experiencing decel popping (not due to a poor or leaky joint) then that a good sign you need one or a set

    • @DKCustomProducts
      @DKCustomProducts  Год назад

      Thank you for the reviews.
      On your bike with the 4.5 Titan mufflers, you should be able to see an increase in low and mid range torque without hurting the top end by rotating the angle of the TTI's a bit.
      From the instructions-
      "TORQUE: The Increase in Torque is accomplished by reducing engine pumping
      losses, increasing exhaust gas velocity and increasing inertial scavenging. The unique combination of materials and design of the Thunder Torque Inserts™ are able to accomplish the above.
      Installation angles have a direct impact on how much more torque you will gain.
      Because each bike is different (air cleaners, fuel management, headers, slip-ons) there is no single adjustment that is best for all.
      In most cases centering the Thunder Torque (height wise) in the pipe is optimal (it does not make a significant difference if it is a little off center, but as close as you can get is best). In some instances our LT (Long Thread) TTI can be used to get it centered.
      90%+ of the time the best results are when the threaded part of the TTI is closest to the engine (with the cupped part closest to the tail end of the exhaust)."

      @@DKCustomProducts Thank for the tip.. however though my whole exhaust was aftermarket on my 2020 M8, 107, with No fuel management, and also true duels, did not have decel popping, and my fuel mileage was consistently 44-46 mpg, that was a good sign that more restriction might not be beneficial, but I tried it any way so I could share my experience.

    Good info for sure. I do not want to hear anyone complain about popping exhaust after installation. They need to understand that adding fuel will not cure this. The problem being the exhaust baffles and fiberglass packing muffled down ( choking out performance and the igniting of unburned fuel in the exhaust) I used homemade lollipops for years in the 80s on many exhausts, it never cured the popping tho it did help the low end and mid range for sure.
    Keeping in mind that DK Customs has done way more testing and real time numbers with their in house product. Well done @ D K Customs

    I was told by a tech at a performance shop that reversion travels on the inside of the outter shell of the muffler. That contradicts what you are saying. His logic for his theory was that's why reversion cones that fit in the head pipe where they attache at the cylinder head trap the reversion out of exhaust port.
    I've already purchased a set of TTI, will install in the near future.
    Would like to get your take on that theory.
    Thanks

    • @DKCustomProducts
      @DKCustomProducts  Год назад

      Does this tech have any dyno charts that support his theory? We have done quite a few tests on torque cones and have never seen any measurable benefit from them.
      Here is a video explaining how reversion works (and it is not just traveling along the outer shell) - ruclips.net/video/pr6z00gL5Yg/видео.html
      And, of course, we have dyno charts showing the significant gains of low and midrange torque when using the TTI's. You can see some of them at this link- www.dkcustomproducts.com/thunder-torque-inserts-118-model-family-dk-tti-118.htm

    Hey Guys, I have a question about the TTI's. Quick summary of my bike. 13 Ultra, Full Sac headpipe, V&H 4" Twin Slash slip ons WITH V&H quiet baffle inserts. I assume I would remove the inserts in order to install the TTI'S? The decel pop is what I wish to eliminate. I do have a PowerVision that I ordered from you guys that will be installed. Also going with your 606 with the Transformer EBS. Thanks guys for all the great videos. Looking forward to warm weather. Just got 18" of snow here in Minnesota. Send some warm weather our way! Take care.

    • @DKCustomProducts
      @DKCustomProducts  Год назад

      Decel pop is all about the AFR in the pipes (this is NOT the AFR in your tune).
      Once you install the Power Vision and the 606 with the Transformer EBS, your decel pop may be gone. If it is not, pulling the baffles and installing TTI's will reduce or eliminate it. But if you do it now, before the other things you're going to do, it may not do what you want regarding decel pop.
      Regardless of decel pop installing the TTI's, with or without your quiet baffles, will increase low and mid range power.
      See this video on the subject- ruclips.net/video/I_djBYYYu28/видео.html
      Thanks for your business, we appreciate it. I believe you are going to very pleased with those parts you're going to be installing.
      Hope it warms up for you up there! We've been having our temps just between 75 F and as low as 25 F....pretty soon it will be warm all the time!

    I just had a set of W158 Thunder Torque Inserts installed in my 3.5" Rinehart slip on mufflers. This was done by my local Harley Dealer. I emphatically told the service guy that they need not be perfectly centered, but to center as well as possible. Well he has them bolted down tight to one side. So there is clearance you could say at the 9, 12 and 3 o'clock positions, but not the 6. I asked him to just adjust them up a bit. Not a lot of stud thread left as of course he cut them off. He said he could, but the Dyno was absolutely perfect, and didn't feel it was necessary (S & S Cam upgrade also). Just wanted your opinion. Thanks!

    • @DKCustomProducts
      @DKCustomProducts  Год назад

      Do they work best when closer to centered? Yes. Is the difference significant enough for you to feel? Everyone is different in how they ride. Even the most aggressive rider may not feel the small difference.
      I'm sorry to hear that he did not provide the service you requested, if you have the time and the patience to have him try and do it again, the right way (per your request, and the instructions that came with the TTI's) it may be worth it, or you may not feel it at all.

      Angle/slant is addressed in the above instructions.
      The cupped part faces the exit of the exhaust. This does two things-
      1. The cupped design does a better job of stopping the reversion/energy pulse from returning back up the pipe.
      2. The back of the cup (cone shaped) speeds up the expelling of the exhaust.

    The dealer installed the W258 Inserts into my 3 1/2" Rinehart slip on mufflers. It is really crammed in there. I did send your Support Division an after photo. Natalie (who couldn't be nicer), said they did look tight, but suggested I just turn them a bit sideways to allow more air flow. I think I should just order a set of W158 Inserts and swap them out. My bad for not ordering more carefully. Do you agree swapping out for the smaller size is the best way to go?

    • @DKCustomProducts
      @DKCustomProducts  Год назад

      If you have 3/16" gap, that is good. Also, you can rotate the TTI just a little to see if you like the sound or power better that way.
      Here is a link with info that you may find useful- www.dkcustomproducts.com/choosing-the-right-size-thunder-torque-inserts.htm
      You can certainly try the 158's, the only way you will know which size (and adjustment in angle) is to try them both. Myself, I would start with the 258, like you did, and play around with the angle...but, if extra expense is not an issue, trying them both will give you the best way to know which sound and power curve you like best.

      All the seat of the pants testing and dyno testing of torque cones, installed at the top of the header, provide little to no benefit.
      The whole principle of the Thunder Torque Inserts™ is to Increase Exhaust Gas Velocity by reducing reversion. The only place that can happen is at the end of the pipes, where the exhaust gasses exit into the atmosphere.

      Most likely you will need the 118. You can see a report on how to choose the right size TTI for your exhaust at this link - www.dkcustomproducts.com/choosing-the-right-size-thunder-torque-inserts.htm
      You can send us an email with a picture looking into your exhaust and the inside diameter measurement 1.5 - 2" inside the exhaust we will be able to give you a more accurate sizing:

      You can use the TTI's with your 4" Rinehart's. If you are leaving the baffle in place you would need to measure the inside diameter of the baffle to determine the size TTI's you need.

      Regarding keeping them tight, 999 out of 1000 the washer, then lock washer then nut is all it takes. However, if you used that and it did not, then use a washer then a nut that is tightened all the way down, then put another nut up against the tightened down nut. Hold the first nut in place, then tighten the second nut up against it.

      I would place the TTI's as close to the end caps as you can. Probably 3/4" to 1" from the inside end of the end caps, in the pipe.

    I just ordered mine a few days ago. Waiting on them to arrive to install. I have VH Straight Shots, I hope to use them with the baffles installed, I ordered these instead of the quiet baffles so hope it works. I called in and asked if they would work that way, the person I spoke to was unsure. If the threaded stud is too long it will not fit past the heat shield. I guess I will find out. I will be able to tell if they will fit before I open them by looking at the stud size. Can I return them if it doesn't fit?

    • @DKCustomProducts
      @DKCustomProducts  Год назад +1

      They fit.
      On V&H "full coverage" shields, there is almost 90 degrees that is NOT covered. Using that area is the easiest install, since there is not heat shield to contend with.
      The other way, which many folks do, even though it is much more work, is to make sure the threaded section is short enough to fit between the outside of the exhaust pipe and the inside of the heat shield.
      This may require cutting down the threaded portion some.
      You may also want to use a low profile fun instead of the one included.
      If you look at the following video, it is some Short Shots on our Project 48. There are no heat shields installed in the video (we were doing a lot of testing that day), BUT, if you watch the video you will see the TTI's installed, not at the top or bottom, but at around the 7-8 o'clock position.
      This is where it was easiest since there is no heat shield that goes there.
      If you are wondering if the thread diameter of the TTI is the same as the baffle holding bolt on the V&H, they are not. Below is a copy and paste from the online instructions.
      "V&H is the only company we know of that uses a non-standard size hole for the exhaust baffle bolt. It either needs to be drilled out, or just drill a new hole for the TTI’s. Thunder Torque Inserts™ can be installed in an infinite # of positions to accommodate all different tunes and desired sound."

    Is it ok if I bought a size too small? I bought the 118 cuz I thought the 158 might be too big but I guess I was wrong cuz the 118 only covers about 55%-60% of my mufflers inner diameter. Does that mean I won't get any benefits or maybe less benefit? My mufflers are 2 1/4 inches but inside I believe is 2 inches maybe a hair smaller. I get almost 2/3 coverage having them straight up and centered as recommended. I haven't installed the mufflers on my bike yet so idk if ill benefit from any sound change and power. Have any insight on this? Will I be ok and am I sacrificing power and sound?

      Tips on tuning your Thunder Torques:
      SOUND: Desirable sound is totally subjective to each individual. To get the sound You desire
      simply try different installation angles of the Thunder Torques. The direction the Thunder Torque
      is facing will make a noticeable change in Tone & Volume. 90%+ of the time the best results are
      when the threaded part of the TTI is closest to the engine (with the cupped part closest to the
      tail end of the exhaust).
      In many instances the removal of the baffle completely in conjunction with the Thunder Torques
      will produce the most desirable sound.
      TORQUE: The Increase in Torque is accomplished by reducing engine pumping
      losses, increasing exhaust gas velocity and increasing inertial scavenging. The unique
      combination of materials and design of the Thunder Torque Inserts™ are able to
      accomplish the above.
      Installation angles have a direct impact on how much more torque you will gain.
      Because each bike is different (air cleaners, fuel management, headers, slip-ons) there
      is no single adjustment that is best for all.
      In most cases centering the Thunder Torque (height wise) in the pipe is optimal (it does
      not make a significant difference if it is a little off center, but as close as you can get is
      best). In some instances our LT (Long Thread) TTI can be used to get it centered.
      90%+ of the time the best results are when the threaded part of the TTI is closest to the
      engine (with the cupped part closest to the tail end of the exhaust).
