This review feels like it was actually made by someone that actually used the tablet, rather than a reviewer that bought it just to run 20 benchmarks, the hot feel while drawing, and the screen reflections outside were great examples
Hot feel when drawing "while connected as external display"...so much good but you pick only the bad ones eh ? And a single cheap matte screen cover solves the reflection problem
We need reviewers whose sole job is to review other reviewer so viewers can discover them.

The Microsoft doesn’t support drive and many other apps, while the MacBook s specs are years older than the competition. While devices have wifi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, oled screend, 4k cameras, anti bacterial coating on the keyboard, higher angle for better typing experience, cheaper and better accessories, higher refresh rates, more ram and storage as default, apple is selling this at ridiculous prices, to make a profit. I m sick of this and I ll never buy an Apple product again

very nice review!! i got the Surface pro 9 last year for note-taking & media consumption & carrying around as a light laptop i can easily access when i'm traveling. i really like the form & design of this device, and the only downsides of it for me personally are the battery life & the heat. So the new snapdragon chips that are more battery efficient and quieter and cooler seem to be the perfect upgrade for me if i buy a new surface pro.
But i might wait until a 2nd generation of the snapdragon chip next year (or if there's no 2nd gen next year, wait for a sale for the pro 11 by next year) because my current surface still works perfectly, and i wanna wait a year to see if more devs make their apps available on the arm chip.

I have a had Surface Pro 3 years ago. Love the form factor. And great to see Arm making a bigger impact on Windows.

I own both surface and ipad, honestly I can't do much on the iPad compared to surface

Edit: One tip, I think it makes more sense to have the laptops at fixed nits rather than 70% brightness as that reflects real-world use given that most laptop screens are bright enough for indoor use.

Snapdragon X is awesome but sadly Windows 11 Arm is still not up to speed. I wish they skipped the Copilot AI bullshit and focused on making the transition from x86 seamless.
WE DO NOT NEED OUR OS TO BE AI ENABLED. Apps like Davinci and adobe can use the NPU but I just want the OS to be an OS.

Always loved Surface, had a Pro 4 during my high school years.
Switched to Mac because of battery and Unix. But now with these ARM machines, excited to switch back again. Unfortunately many softwares I use simply doesn’t work, so will have to wait a couple more generations, just like the M-series Mac.

RISC chips Reduced Instruction Set Chips go back to the 80's big names making their own RISC chips were Sun Microsystems and IBM. Apple for a few years was making their computers with IBM PowerPC RISC chips before they switched to Intel. The ARM chips are a next generation of RISC chips. Apple M-series chip also are System on a chip so the CPU and RAM are basically one making them run faster. System On a Chip isn't anything new either just they were typically used in small devices built for a purpose. So this "new" isn't really new it just the latest generations.

Your videos never disappoint. The level of detail is so refreshing. And the editing is quite incredible.
The best review I've seen for this product. In almost all of them they just run a lot of benchmarcks which most people don't understand. You showed real-life situations, another POV where people may get annoyed when using the product and not just 'editing 4k video ProRes HDR'. And can be really helpful to decide if you want buy it or not.

Finally someone who has a good ear! It can't be that people love that horrible sound of Macs. It sounds like a bass is over-compressed, drowning and locked in a bucket. Excellent Review 10/10.
Does the X-Plus LED version have the same visible digitizer issue as the OLED? It's very important to note these differences. Also, why didn't you compare it to the Surface Pro 10 For Business? I'm looking for a Windows 11 tablet to use primarily for drawing, so more emphasis on the drawing aspect would be great.

I would rather to go for the surface laptop studio, while I was in university I noticed many people attempting to use an iPad as PC replacement instead of just going for a surface
Really wishing for linux drivers on snapdragon to improve, because gnome offers the best tablet form factor experience in my opinion. Already using fedora on an hp 2 in 1, and by far it is wayyy more natural than win11

Great review! So well spoken, detailed, and still a very efficient, to the point, and enjoyable review on the surface pro! I was using both iPad Pro and surface pro 8 lte for the last few years, but now just using a 13” iPad Pro M4 for all my work, including using Remote Desktop when heavy workload is needed. It works great and with 5G already on the iPad, I can do anything on it on it just about anywhere. I’m so tempted to try the surface pro 11, but hope the OLED screen will not be a disappointment (it’s so so good on the iPad Pro). Also 5G is a must for me and Microsoft drags their feet on that in terms of releasing 5G versions “later”. Great review, and subscribed to your channel as well!
When my m1 MacBook and iPad kick the bucket I think I’m going to switch to surface pro instead. And when I need a bigger workspace just plug into a display. Really love it but can’t justify the price when I have two devices that already work well
This reviewer feels like my type of reviewer, she’s not all over the place, she’s methodical and engaging in her examples. Other reviewers tend to talk extra and unnecessarily about random stuff and I’m like “STATS I WANTS STATS AND DETAILS”.
To me, I have never tried a surface series, but I do have a lot of friends who have used their products during college days. according to them, there are several critical problems that Microsoft must consider to fix or improve. 1. Battery life of the surface( usually it can last only 3-4 hours with fully charged battery, which is below average) 2. The over price products(can you imagine that for the 2 in 1 product, you need to buy the laptop and the keyboard separately? Well, that is something only Microsoft can do) 3. Insufficient storage, given it is a pc not a MacBook, we supposed to have a bigger storage compared to the MacBook. In 2024, even the Macbook starts from 256 gb, the surface pro still stacks with 128 gb??? Tell me what you can do on a PC with 128 gb? The system will take 20-30 gb. Keep in mind that I haven't mentioned the tech part. I am not against Surface, but I really think it is overpriced for its target market -- students and new graduates

Unless you need a certain brand of computer for work or art or design, I think Macs are better than the competitors. They work for a long time if taken care of, they have the best screens and speakers I’ve experienced on laptops and they’re just more fun to use.
What does the Surface Pro 11 have?
Touch screen, pen, it's a laptop and table at the same time, it has Windows 11, it has Copilot.
What does the Macbook have?

I love the surface pro line. I used to have the 4 and 6 pro. I change to mac for home and lenovo thinkpad for while in work. I have parallels in the mac and the loss of performance for softwares like autocad and revit are minimal

I know you're young but you have to go further back than the Surface Pro X for WoA. The Surface RT (2012) used an Nvidia ARM chipset. It had no emulation though so it pretty much failed. I still have mine, lol. Great channel and review however.
Yes, WOA has been around 3X as long as Apple Silicon so I never quite understand the praise that the X Elite gets as it has been a long time coming. The M-Chips were a revolution, the X Elite is more of an evolution double step that is well overdue.

“It is like the better performance mode is just there so they can put out better performance on GeekBench than the M3” yes I think that’s why it’s there. Microsoft panicked over not matching Apple in performance so they made this really weird solution. And then Apple will release the M4 chip anyway, which means an iPad is faster than Microsoft new fancy laptops.
Biggest downside, no cellular!
You don't need it. It links to your phone. It gives you full connection to data.

Looking for the worst angles to harm the OLED of the SUrface PRO... You haven't been honest and you know it.
After watching a lot of review from Surface, this answered all my questions and what I'd be expecting upon buying, and the real overall experience. Btw, Surface Pro 11>>>>Ipad Pro 2024. Even the best tech reviewers kinda hated on the new Ipad because of third-party device problems, outdated haptics, and it's basically just an iPhone with an 11" screen.
Thank you Elle for making me consider the Surface Pro 11 more and to 'The Everyday Dad' for Surface Pro 11 after weeks of usage.

Some will have issues with the printer in your school not working (you can ask your friend to help print though) and some compatibility issues. Engineering students might have issues with their programs working! There might also be issues with cheat detection programs used in exams, as most are not working currently. This can be mitigated by using school computers or asking your friends for help, though they might laugh at your computer. Either way, it can be improved with time. $1500 + $500 per set for students? Only rich parents can afford that, you are a student not a working adult so just stick with pen and paper!

Now I have a question : As a photographer I would like a tablet for Photoshop, video montage (small project), Media and taking notes and web browsing. I'm looking between Surface PRO 11 & Ipad PRO M4 through tests, reviews etc. but damn it's a mess!! I never was on the MacOS/OS system but I'm open to do so... And of course, the battery has to be good (6-8h minimum) Anyone can help me?? I start to feel lost ^^ (Sorry for my english)
how on earth can you people see digitizers and pixel matrices and all the rest of this, I've never managed to see or be bothered by any of it.
Had a surface pro 8 for 2.5 years now and until this video I had no idea you could "see" digitizer without a microscope.
I'm staring at it right now in the hopes of spotting what Ella showed earlier in a close up, yet no luck.

If you're buying new sure you can make the comparison (although buying a new MacBook air m3 at the end of it's lifecycle is a bad decision). I was looking forward to the surface pro, but for my use cases I need at least 32gb ram. I also need a GPU. Surface pro 32 gb ram would work if I was able to use an egpu with it but today that's not the case. Also for the price, it's not worth it. I've instead bought a used mbps 14 m1 max with 32 gb ram for $1200. That's a much better buy than a Surface pro (even on the used market). In general tech right now doesn't make sense to buy new (maybe except GPUs) because the performance per $ doesn't increase faster than used tech drops in price.

I just set up my new Surface Pro 11 with Snapdragon X Elite and 16GB RAM. There are no programs or documents installed yet.
When I press the power button, it takes about 30 seconds to reach the Windows PIN screen. Is this normal? On my Surface Pro 8, this time was 15 seconds.
What is the startup time on your device, by the way?
Everyone expects this to be a "do everything" device. The ARM devices are intended to be productivity devices with awesome battery life. If you need the extra horsepower you can get the Laptop Studio instead. Mac isn't a gaming machine either.

Interesting comprehensive laptop video. Windows OS has come a long way in touch environment, I could remember using my Windows Phone with hardly any touch glitches, but there was those touch glitches every once in a while that made the Windows Mobile a little frustrating to use. Other than that, I would personally prefer to use Windows OS with a pointing device such the Windows Pencil. Regardless, interesting 2 in 1 Windows laptop comparisons, but now, I only further wonder how well a Windows Laptop will hold up against to an actual modern day desktop computer? Maxed out gaming laptops included? 😺🥰👩💻✨💎
Hi Ella, one question: is the screen door effect really that pronounced? i would like to upgrade to the surface pro 11 OLED from a SP6 and i use it mainly for university, writing notes, reading pdf etc. so mainly on a white background, which i know accentuates the effect even more. do you think it would be better to think about the lcd version in my case?

sigh.... another "surface pro review" but actually reviews it with the $500 add-on leyboard. and calls it a "laptop". if i want a laptop review, i'd look at the Surface Laptop 7.
as expected, it's not as good as the M1 upon it's "grand entrance" however, it's still a good direction to eventually get to a point where battery life on these laptops can last long. would be nice to see a gaming laptop unplugged last longer than 4-5 hours, if even possible. It's funny that potentially Windows ARM has less games than even a MacBook Arm version would have, which is relatively very small and yes, i know, i know...who games on a macbook? well, if it was possibly easy like on a normal windows PC, i assume many.
no doubt snapdragon hardware is awesome but the OS is not yet ripe. over the past few years there's some released of so-called 'macbook killer' but it didnt killed the macbook. I remember when surface RT released they over hyped it and it died down. when surface pro X released, I was excited about it but when all you can do with it is write office stuff and some youtube got very disappointed. You can barely run software development stuff on windows arm, not even the sql server wont work on windows arm. as for games, microsoft flight simulator wont even work in it. I owned few microsoft surface devices and I was hoping to upgrade this year but when they announced that they are only releasing surface tablets on arm got disappointed.
I use sketchup pro for my interior design/ architecture business. I have a desktop PC already but want something for light designing and client presentation. Does SketchUp pro run on snapdragon processors?? I’m trying to decide between the iPad Pro 13” (which has basically SketchUp Lite) or new surface pro 11. Thanks!
No, it’s not an Air killer when it can’t barely handle any high resolution/big size photos in Lightroom without lagging. Especially when it’s not plugged in.
Amazing screen though and it’s always nice having touch. Otherwise it’s the same old. Unfortunately. I had high hopes for this one.

Nah, this surface is wayyy too overpriced despite being new in the market. Also it's only faster than the M1 and goes toe to toe with M2.
The biggest looser is the rumored Tab S10 with media tek and SD 8gen4 CPUs.

I just got my Surface Pro 11 LCD model and it's higher performance than my Intel 12th Gen Samsung PLUS so easy to pick up and touch or use a pen. Battery life and speakers are amazing. Never going back to a regular laptop.

also, a small tip! with the pen, there is a setting to turn off that small cursor star thing! go to settings > bluetooth and devices > pen and windows ink > additional pen settings, you can turn off "show visual effects" and "show cursor"!

peronally i had a surface through most of my time in university and it was a GREAT option, I used it to death and I would reccomend it, I mean, its really tough for me to suggest using a windows machine after I moved onto linux, but for students its pretty perfect
5:36 USB-C 3 doesn't have even close to the bandwidth needed to support a 4k 120hz stream. You would need to connect it to display port 1.4 or HDMI 2.1
