Man! Your videos are just so good. I assumed the tritechs would be much lower pressure tbh! I must say i was only really interested in trying them 06 tips from them, but heard they block mega easy. Need fine mesh at pump like crazy. That said i reckon different tips will respond differently to different products. Keep up the great work mate 👍
Thanks for the kind words of support 👏💯 ..Yeah I too thought the pressure would have been lower than it was with the TriTech.. That’s a very good point about their .06 tips, I’d like to give them a go 👍 I suspect I could get the pressure down 🤔 ..Always great to hear from you buddy 👊
@@PaintHQ there is always a way to get the pressure down 😄 i am trying to keep my paints warmed as much as possible. Also i have been spraying a fair bit with my compressor and gun, and it is definitely nice using much less material, but you do have to thin a fair bit.
@@PaintHQ definitely. There is a lot of buzz about them at the moment. I am looking at a bigger pump already and the sf23 has popped on my radar. They work together very well as.they have a passthrough for it. One day maybe. Tritech just showed a prototype this week of a t5 with heated hose too 😃
Thanks for the kind words, your support is very much appreciated.. it just takes practice and a bit of confidence 😊 Feel free to keep in touch and if you ever need my help or advice, I’m there for you 💯 Regards Pete

Hey guys I have used both tips ,I prefer the triteck tips personally they got a double orfice for better optimization.I prefer so spray hi end products like cic or environlak
Hey buddy, thanks for your feedback and insight into what you’re using.. Yeah the TriTech Ultras are popular in the refinishing world, spraying products such as Envirolak and Renner🙌👏👌 ..keep in touch my friend, it’ll be great to get your input in future.. regards Pete
Looks so dark in there! Windows are so small in new builds, never enough light , I use LED strip lights, just put them on the floor or taped to a step ladder, or a head torch is good too . Light where you want it. Thinking about getting the Graco cordless instead of lugging a 110V around. Still on roller and brush but this video is the catalyst to get spraying, got a similar job coming up. Thanks , like the notes on pressure used.
Hey Julian, you’re spot on and great tips regarding lighting up the job site.. Great videos and much appreciated as a painter myself its great to see how you can spray doors instead of brush/roller,i think the reading on the video is quite cool actually and it simplifies whats being done in each step,id like to know what paint you use on the doors please!is it water based?oil based?dulux or specialist brand, can you spray if people are living in the house?
Hey Edmund, great to hear from a fellow painter 👏 Really appreciate your kind words of support 💯.. My goal is to produce informative videos that could help DIYers and professionals alike, whilst bringing credibility to our trade.. So we could get electricians, plumbers etc say, actually what you guys do is appreciated 😊🙏🏻 ..Regarding the paint, it’s a waterborne “spray only” manufacturer coating.. Stay tuned, I’m planning a video about trim materials / brands that I like to spray.. such as Tikkurila, Caparol ..Yes you can very much spray in an occupied house, you just have to have the confidence and approach the project differently to an unoccupied house.. Do you spray at all my friend?.. I’m always available to help you if I can with any questions. If you don’t spray but are thinking about it, I’ll help 👍 keep in touch buddy.. regards Pete
@@PaintHQ thanks pete ive spayed a little, just a few kitchen presses and bought the graco ultra max handheld a while back for that,im interested too in the graco gx 21 for trim, when painting a house i spend so much time rolling ceilings, wall etc and doors and im always thinking there must be an easier and less tiring way,you are showing us the way!keep up the good work!
You’re very welcome 😊 ..The Ultra Max Handheld is an excellent machine, it’s certainly sped up processes for me and paid for itself many times over.. Just make sure you clean the machine thoroughly, spray at the lowest possible pressure and use for small jobs, not overworking it.. I have to say you’ll get the full experience spraying with a GX21.. you’ll never roll a ceiling again 😆 The GX21 is the right machine for the domestic painter and decorator. It really is excellent, adding a hopper kit (there’s a hybrid machine, the GX21FF) will also make it easier to spray a smaller amount of material when wanting to spray trim.. Any help and advice, I’ll do my very best.. Keep in touch, thanks again for your kind support 💯 Pete
hello, you give very good advice in the videos, can you recommend which number to use for wooden doors, windows and if possible for iron doors, which number to use. thank you in advance
Hey buddy.. yes there’s gun filters in the Graco Contractor PC guns - smaller / stumpy version in the PC Compact 👍 colours are black (60 mesh), blue (100 mesh), and red (200 mesh).. I clean them during the sprayer cleaning and I very rarely need to replace 👍 regards Pete
@thomascrown91 Great news my friend.. first time use (before adding paint), just flush through with water to flush out factory storage solution 👍 Then I’d recommend adding Pump Armour after cleaning and storing till the next time 👍 Keep in touch my friend, it’ll be great to hear how you get on 🙏 regards Pete 💙💯
If you get a spit when you trigger on Vs a spit when triggering off.. it could be the gun packing / PC cartridge.. how much use has your PC Compact gun had ?
@@PaintHQ all is good here cheers dude, I trust you’re keeping well 👊🏻. Yeah it’s definitely the Graco fflp’s for the win on this occasion. What was it you were spraying? Out of curiosity
Great to hear you’re doing good my friend.. I’m having to have a forced rest, just recovering from a hernia op 🙈 ..More time for RUclips I guess 😆 I’m spraying a low viscosity manufacturer primer and top coat.. Hey Carlos, thank you for your question, I’m happy to help if I can anytime.. It’s a water based low viscosity (free flowing / thin) product by AkzoNobel.. beautiful cabinet like satin finish.. greetings from australia ...im new to spraying , i notce you always prime pre painted doors? is that a must do even if re painting over acrylic finish , or only if you are repainting enamel doors .. thanx ..
Ah hello my friend in Australia 🇦🇺💙 ..Yes I do find you get the best results out of the topcoat by priming first.. I especially like to use a high build / sanding sealer primer.. the one I’m using here is by AkzoNobel, a waterborne primer.. WP136.. sands / denibs beautifully, before going over with AkzoNobel Aqualit Enamel topcoat 👍 ..I do like to keep to the same ‘system’ with primer / topcoat, ie both from AkzoNobel.. I guess not critical, and like you say if the substrate is pre-primed or previously coated well, it’s not 100% critical to prime again.. I just find in my experience, you get the best result / finish 👍 ..keep in touch brother 🇦🇺💙 ..regards Pete
Hello my friend.. yeah I know what you mean 🙈 ..the products I’m spraying (primer / topcoat), are low viscosity (thin) manufacturer coatings, just like the ones in this video, going through HVLP without thinning.. ruclips.net/video/lkGZCVcP6l0/видео.html ..They’re very suited to the .008 tips, such as a 208 / 308.. if I recall, I strained the paint into the hopper too, just to get rid of old dried paint falling in from the can.. always a pleasure to hear from you, hope you’re keeping well and having success spraying 👌👍😆 ..regards Pete
Hey Ken, really appreciate you saying that 💯 ..In this video I was spraying a low viscosity primer and top coat by AkzoNobel.. low viscosity is typically thin in consistency, and sprays lovely with .008 tip (I used a 208 if I recall).. Whereas a decorative coating that are usually thicker because they can also be brushed, a .010 tip such as a 210 / 310 will (usually) be perfect 👍 It is on my list to demonstrate manufacturer costing Vs decorative and maybe spraying HVLP Vs Airless.. great to have you contributing.. subscribe if you can, and feel free to ask questions anytime.. I’m happy to help if I can.. regards Pete 🎨💯
What an excellent video. The videophotography as well as the editing is as much a work of art as the painting itself. I’m really struggling to get the correct viscosity for my Titan 500 xvlp gun and Helmi 80. Have you any suggestion that might help? Much appreciated. David.
Hey David, that’s so kind of you to say.. regarding XVLP and Helmi, I’ve sprayed it with the very similar Wagner 5000 (separate turbine).. it did take a bit of coaxing and still the finish was a little ‘orange peel’.. not as good as spraying Helmi with airless.. sone tips to help coax Helmi, is to warm the paint.. submerge the XVLP metal paint pot in hot water.. that alone does help.. another thing you can do is add a drop of Floetrol (a paint conditioner).. another version is Benjamin Moore Extender.. along with warming the paint, it does help thicker decorative coatings such as Helmi go through XVLP 👍
They turned out good I was almost gonna start calling you tiger because I thought there was going to be a bunch of stripes they gelled out nice 👍🏻 I probably would’ve used FFLP 515 not having to do so many passes but it looked great nice job 👍🏻 btw I do like the way you showed the consistency of the material that is super important I always like to add a cat full of floetrol also
Hey buddy, thanks for your question.. They’re Trimaco Supertuff Paint Strainers 5L You get 25 in a box.. I do find you can wash them out real easy to get a couple of uses out of each one 😆
Hi pete. I recently had to paint over old oilbased gloss. I gave it a good key and painted with bullseye 123 which was tinted. Left overnight to dry then painted with dulux wb satin . At the time seemed to me like bullseye was taking forever to dry. Im finished now but noticed the paint still really easy to scrath off. I know bullseye state seven days but who really has time to be waiting around? I did a test patch where i just keyed gloss and went straight over with satinwood just to check adhesion. Will see how that fares but it did seem to be sticking better already. Should i ditch the bullseye? Thanks again pete
Hey Mick.. it’ll be interesting how the keyed gloss and straight on with satinwood fares.. my initial thought is to think the old gloss isn’t sound.. often when I come across old gloss work on panel doors, the old paint job looks sound, then when prepping, the gloss just peels and peels.. in this scenario, I prep as much as feasible, then I use Zinnser Peel Stop, followed by an adhesion primer such as Caparol Haftprimer, or Tikkurila Otex Akva.. these are my usual adhesion primers.. I typically wouldn’t use 123, I’d probably choose BIN.. and yeah, I too am surprised 123 would take an overly long time, you would be wanting to top coat definitely by the next day 👍 Hope this helps a little.. check out the Haftprimer or Otex Akva when you get chance, both are waterborne 👍 let me know how you get on my friend, always great to hear from you.. regards Pete

Hi Great videos. Loads of good tips and info in the replies. Got a job. Wall panelling in hall, 1200mm high 18m2. Client would like it sprayed but the 10 doors and architive facing are all hand painted and i think it might look odd against the nice smooth finish of the spray finish. To do everything would take a considerable amount of time rubbing down a lot of the hand painted surface. Should I just a hand paint finish. They do want to do the entire hall. Thanks in advance.
Hi Richard.. really appreciate your feedback and support.. wow what an exciting project opportunity my friend 👍 ..I would look to prep / machine sand and spray all the joinery, including the doors.. Hey Lauro, happy to help if I can my friend.. Thank you buddy, appreciate the support.. yeah I do hear mixed feedback, I believe the brand didn’t set out to compete in the low pressure game and by design they take a bit of wearing in.. no doubt about it, the TriTech Ultras do produce a very fine atomisation.. great to have your contribution on the channel my friend, keep in touch.. regards Pete
Depending on you’re region, I’d look at a Graco Mark V or Mark VII or Mark X ..availability is different across regions, with the Mark X being able to spray thicker / very high viscosity plaster ..that’s if you’re looking to spray plaster my friend ?.. hope this helps, happy to help and guide you if I can 🙏 regards Pete
Mostly I look to remove the handles - but if the carpentry is poor (new build) and I have 10+ doors / 20 handles / 80 screws that are going to give me a problem, I’ll remove the decorative covers and mask them off.. Then on any downward passes over the handle, I flick the gun back in the opposite direction to coat the underside.. I also spray an industrial waterborne / spray only coating that levels and knits together every sprayed pass beautifully - trust me, there was no missed areas on the doors, I wouldn’t hand over the job in a finish that’s not 100 percent 👌 All the best my friend, regards Pete 💙💯
I'm not a professional painter, but I'm curious about why the tests were sprayed onto a horizontal surface instead of a vertical surface? Also, what exactly are you looking for when testing? Thanks,
Hi Glen, great to hear from you.. it really is great to hear from non-professionals, I will do all I can to help and advise.. it’s actually a very good question you ask.. I lay a piece of brown paper on the floor, rather than stick to a wall, purely for speed and convenience.. I always spray a test in that way before spraying ‘live’.. what I’m looking for is a fine atomisation (a very small droplet).. this is seen at the edges, we call this a feathered edge.. then across the middle of the fan width, I’m looking for an even distribution of paint.. all sounds complicated, it’s actually a simple process 😆 setting up an airless sprayer to spray paint is relatively simple to setup.. like in my video, I start with the pressure potentially lower than where I’ll end up.. spray a test, you’ll probably see ‘tails’.. so not a feathered edge and a broken pattern across the middle.. then up the pressure by about 200 psi and test again.. the tails will start to disappear and the pattern will improve.. repeat until you get a nice fan pattern as described above 😆 ..the Graco FF LP tips really do atomise material very fine and a much lower pressure 💙 Hope this helps, keep in touch my friend.. I hope to hear about your success in future 😆 regards Pete
@@PaintHQ Pete, thanks for the explanation. I have a cheap 1/2 hp Wagner 9140S that's served me well. It doesn't have a pressure gauge, but I can probably install one. Being an amateur I don't get to paint as often as I need to gain skills faster than I forget them (grin). We recently moved into a rather large home though & it could use a repaint in some of the rooms. I'm not sure I'm up to all the masking required, especially since the ceilings, walls, & trim are all different colors. But I'll keep watching painting channels & consider it. Thanks again,
You’re very welcome.. go for it my friend, you could mask off and spray each colour change, you’ll be blown away by the razor sharp lines 👏👏👏 ..keep in touch.. regards Pete 🙏
Have you tried the tritech 206 or 306 tips? I only have graco fflp tips atm and they only go down to an 08, and would love to know if you think it'd be worth picking up the tritech guard and those 06 tips. I only really spray latex and urethane enamels that tend to be on the not so thin side (unless I'm priming with bin of course, but I do have a Graco 9.5 hvlp for extremely fine finishing).
Hey Alex.. you raise a good question.. I haven’t used the .006 TriTech tips, it’s something on my list to try out, especially with me using low viscosity (very thin) spray only coatings.. what I’ve learnt about .006 tips, they’ll typically need a higher pressure Vs .008 and .010 tips.. what was explained to me, it’s because you’re pushing pigmented material through an orifice the size of two human hairs.. clear lacquers would behave a little ‘better’.. also for this reason, .006 tips will need a greater level of filtration, such as a 200 mesh filter to avoid the higher risk of tip blockages.. you could use a 100 mesh in the manifold, but I’d go for a 200 in the gun.. hope this helps, great to have your input on the channel.. regards Pete
Hi this is an awesome video. I was wondering if you mentioned which paint you sprayed on. If it’s not a trouble could you share the brand and type of paint you sprayed there? Thank you
Hey buddy, apologies for delay in my response, I’m always happy to help and share information with you.. the primer and top coat features in many of my videos spraying internal joinery, doors, etc.. sprays beautifully with a 208 or 308 Graco FF LP tip.. Hi Pete I hope I find you well just wondering how your getting on with the Tritech Ultre tips I see now they run at a higher pressure than the FFLP and HEA but have you found a place for them in your spraying system kindest regards Simon
Hey Simon, that’s a very good question.. I’ve not yet found a place in trim / woodwork spraying.. still very much a fan of the FFLP tips.. whereas I’ve gave the 616 a runout with AR2.. I find AR2 can be problematic with any tip, it sprays better with a drop of water.. awesome unbeatable product though 💯 .. I also sprayed Little Greene on the panelled wall in my last video, went on nice.. on the whole, I’m glad I’ve got a couple of TriTech tips in my kit.. they work well with the handheld too, gives a nice wide fan when other tips seem to ‘fail’ ..Think my last video using the handheld spraying feature walls shows that 🤔 .. As always, really great to hear from you my friend ..Hope you’re keeping well too 💯👌👍😊
@@PaintHQ I’m good thanks my friend AR2 definitely thinned down works a treat I like to get it thinned down to the same consistency as the Helmi takes about 20% water but I find it works great I’ll try the Ultra on a lid next a 6/16 I think and let you know how it goes thanks for the reply it’s always great to hear from you buddy go easy 👍🏻👍🏻
Hey buddy.. for door frames / architraves (trim), I’d go for a 208 or 210 depending on the viscosity of the material.. most decorative (thicker) paints require a 210 👍 ..A 208 speed will probably be around 3 or 4.. A 210, you’ll probably be around 5... thanks for your question, keep in touch and subscribe if you can.. regards Pete 🎨💯
..Just seen your edited reply 😆 ..Go for the 310 ..Just means you’ll have a wider fan than a 210 ..A 312 would be for much thicker materials, thicker than most decorative trim paints.. if you was to use a 312 the paint will fly out.. you would have to move very very quick 🙈
Ah thank you kind sir.. these were kindly made for me by someone I know that manufacturers kitchen cabinets.. however you can use any pieces of timber, wooden paint stirrers will work 😀 ..Don’t go too short though, it can be more tricky to configure the doors if the spacing is too short.. just to add extra info, my opinion is to spray doors vertical.. you can get a door stacking system that allows you to spray doors flat and then stack them.. I wouldn’t want to risk the potential for doors to warp, especially after adding moisture via painting 🙈 Hope this helps my friend 💯 regards Pete
@@PaintHQ Cheers Yeah more chance for airborne crap to land on them if laid horizontal whilst drying I've booked a job in with 10 doors to spray in a room I'll make up similarly to yours. Winner winner
Ah great news 💯 ..Trying to think of anything else that might help.. apologies if it’s obvious, be sure to number / mark the top of each door to identify where each one goes back 🙈😆
@@PaintHQlooks like you sprayed trim and baseboard, then doors. Will you do walls last? In Canada most contractors don’t spray walls without back rolling to allow for touch-ups. I see you spray walls often and don’t back roll. I am painting one of my houses, everything is done except the 4 bedrooms, 1 bathroom and some closets. I also haven’t touched the doors at all just got a coat of semi gloss down on the baseboards and door trim fronts. Will take all that I absorbed from your videos and apply it to finish the job. Thanks best Amrit
@amritpalbharajvideoproduction you’re very welcome.. thanks for your support 🙏 Good luck on your latest project, be sure to let me know how it goes 💙💯 regards Pete
Thanks for your feedback buddy.. Great to hear you get good results with TriTech.. Do you find the pressure is higher than you’d expect? I fancy trying an .06 tip ..All the best, regards Pete 👍
Great video, looks like the graco looks more even, I don’t have much experience with water based enamel I’m still spraying oil gloss on the woodwork. I are you doing 2 top coats?
Thanks for the feedback and your input my friend.. Yeah 2 top coats sprayed 👍 ..Bet you’re getting nice results spraying oil based gloss 👌 ..What spray machine / setup are you using? Regards Pete
PaintHQ , nice so what grit paper do you use between coats ? I live in Australia so oil based gloss is normally used here, I get a great finish but lately oil based is yellowing a lot faster, woodwork I use a Wagner aircoat with flat tips 09/40 and thin around 20% with enamel thinners
Ah it’s great to hear from someone in Australia 🇦🇺👏 ..It’s 240 grit between coats sandpaper.. Typically I’m just looking to sand off any nibs, between the top coats 👍 ..Is that an AAA setup you’re using with the Wagner? Very nice my friend 👌👏
I find that Graco at 900 looks better than Tri Teck at 1300 but I don’t have the experience to be full confident in my choice but Graco seems better pattern at lower PSI
Thanks for your input my friend, always great to hear from you 💯.. Yeah Graco FF LP tips are my usual choice, I do like it when you can spray at low pressure. Although I have heard good things about TriTech and Wagner Fine Finish tips, so wanted to give them a try.. I believe it can depend on the material, it’s worth having that selection.. You’re doing great buddy, gaining experience all the time 👏 keep in touch 👍 Pete
@@PaintHQ Cheers Pete I also have a choice my go to is Graco but I’ll be spraying a ceiling next week I’ll be trying a tri tech ultra a 5.16 I think I’ll let you know how I go with it kindest regards Simon.
Thanks again, yeah I’ll do that and compare again 👍 ..TriTech and Wagner will take each other’s tips but neither will take the Graco LP / FFLP tips.. Be aware though the tip seals are different and I’ve heard whilst they work, you could get an issue.. I’ve not tried spraying myself but I can confirm TriTech and Wagner tips will fit each other’s guard.. I know what you mean, multiple guards add to the costs ☹️..Great comment buddy 👏
Hey Tony, yeah sprayed lovely with the FFLP tip at 900 psi.. great to have you contributing on the channel.. feel free to ask questions and I’ll always do my best to answer.. regards Pete 🎨💯
Hi Pete, I missed this video somehow. Great video and it's made me think of this question. I'm guessing that is a standard 3 bed house? If so, how much water based u/c and top coat do you use to spray a house that size? Thanks Dan 👍🏻
Hey Dan, yeah you won’t believe the hours that go in to a house such as this.. in fact it was small, a 2 bed new build.. but they do put lots of cupboard spaces in these days and they can be tricky Vs tackling an extra bedroom.. if I recall I ordered 5 litres of primer and top coat, but I do stock it, so I may of used another 2.5 litre of the top coat.. then I charge the customer proportionately and any left over moves onto the next job.. hope that helps buddy 👍 regards Pete
@@PaintHQ cheers Pete, I thought afterwards when I watched it again it looked a bit small for a 3 bed. I've got the welcome pack from tikkurila today and size/price guide. I notice they do their paints in 1,3, 10 litres but says nothing about 5l. Is that true or just no prices on the 5l? Cheers Pete. 👍🏻
Ah yeah, it is true.. strange sizing, and to make it more challenging.. 3ltr is actually 2.7ltr minimum 👌 Teknos is the same, think it’s a Nordic / Scandinavian thing.. have a chat with them, that’s how I do it, via Edinburgh.. I’m sure they’ll send you samples of anything you want to try, even tinted if you want.. the customer service is excellent, they’ll probably ask you if they could call you, say every 2 weeks to check if everything is ok 👍 all the best my friend.. Pete
It’s a low viscosity manufacturer waterborne coating, primer and top coat 👍 No thinning my friend, I wouldn’t thin a trim paint going through an airless sprayer, I wouldn’t want to risk altering the properties of the material.. I’d use a bigger tip if needed.. thanks for your question 👍 ..I plan to do a future video featuring the waterborne trim paints that I’m a fan of 👌 What trim products are you currently using?
Dang...looking good! Do you know what would cause craters in the paint finish on my doors? I’m using a graco project painter plus airless sprayer with a 311 tip. I used Krud Cutter gloss off to remove gloss cause I didn’t want to have to sand everything and was told that that was an alternative. Anyhoo, I’m using sherwin Williams ovation paint in semigloss. I changed psi, sprayed continuously without stopping, sprays sprayer for 10 seconds or so to make sure there was no air in line, etc. I also tried respraying after I sanded the craters and same result. I don’t think it’s fish eye, more looks like an orange peel but not as cratery cause there is some smooth surface. I did not thin the paint but starting to wonder if that’s my issue. What do you think could cause this crater problem?
Very much appreciate the support my friend.. it does have all the signs of ‘fish eye’ and your material is being contaminated by the Krud Cutter.. your setup sounds spot on, you typically don’t need to thin with airless.. then as long as technique is sound, there isn’t a lot to go wrong.. not like air spray / HVLP.. (too much air for example, you can get orange peel) Is it possible to spray a test on a test piece, to eliminate the door and door prep.. if contamination is the issue, a primer such as BIN would be helpful.. if only small areas need to be fixed, you can get it rattle cans to spot prime.. I do hope this helps my friend.. great to have your input on the channel, let me know how you get on 👌👍😆 ..regards Pete
Hey Lauro, thanks for the feedback, you’re right the double atomisation produces a very fine finish.. great to have your contribution on for channel my friend.. regards Pete 🎨💯
Hey Igor, you make a very good point my friend.. I’m using a low viscosity material, so the .008 tips give just the right amount of fluid flow.. usually I’d use a 308 for the doors 👍 ..thanks for your feedback.. regards Pete
Great videos, but please take your handles off, you can’t spray lever handle doors like that. As you’re passing the gun over the taped handle, there is going to be missed bits behind that handle.
Hi Tony, appreciate your input my friend.. the TriTech Ultra’s certainly produce a very nice finish but do require that bit more pressure.. you might like this video, it showcases fine finish tips by Graco, TriTech and Wagner.. Hi Brian.. thank you for your observation, I’ll have to rewatch the footage to remind me of the scenario.. with filming alone, it’s sometimes tricky to position yourself when demonstrating.. rest assured, the gun safety catch should be engaged and the pressure dumped when handling the tip guard.. all the very best my friend, it’ll be good to have you contribute in future, keep in touch.. regards Pete
All that work to paint doors and you leave the hardware on. Tells me you don’t know what you are doing. Which then becomes evident, a 208 tip is designed to give you a 4” fan, and you covering nearly all the 12” paper.
Thank you my friend, appreciate your feedback.. rest assured if the door furniture can be removed, it gets removed.. as demonstrated in this video, if you care to take a look.. ruclips.net/video/Hfcj2_GA7pA/видео.html ..All the very best.. keep in touch.. regards Pete
Hey Wes.. definitely the Graco FFLP (spraying at 900psi).. It’s good to spray at the lowest possible pressure whilst producing a good fan pattern.. that way you get more control and less overspray.. so with the material I was spraying in this video, the Graco FFLP sprayed beautifully.. the Graco FFLP and LP tips are awesome.. from my videos, you’ll see I do like to try out Wagner HEA (big fan of the 515), and TriTech tips.. it’s useful to have options to turn to in your kit 👍😆 I’m happy to help you, if you need it 👍 Thanks for your question my friend.. regards Pete
Thanks for watching and your feedback my friend.. You’re right about the door handles.. Like all of us, I evaluate every project - what’s the effective route to completion? Without compromising on finish.. In this instance, the doors were a lightweight mdf composite and in my opinion the carpentry wasn’t the best (new build).. The screw heads were tiny and chewed, I didn’t think the handles would have held up being taken off and screwed back into the mdf.. Then because I was able to unscrew the bezels - with effective masking and a good spray job to coat the area, I knew without doubt the result would be excellent.. Appreciate your comment, you raised a good point 👌😊 ..Please subscribe if you haven’t already, it’ll be good to have you on board with future input 💯.. Regards Pete
Pete, they’ll always be people that are not comprehending the entire aspects of trade, circumstances and so on… Let them be. I do appreciate your efforts, and really like your approach to the trade. By the way: I am using the same Tritech 208, and 210 for spraying the doors. Unmatched finish at all times! Keep it up mate!
Haha 😂 Thanks for the support my friend, appreciate it 👏👏 ..I’ve got more content planned for the future, different format ..and I’ll use a microphone 🎙👌😂🤣 ..Thanks again Sam, all the best.. regards Pete 👊
That’s a very good point about their .06 tips, I’d like to give them a go 👍 I suspect I could get the pressure down 🤔
..Always great to hear from you buddy 👊
@@PaintHQ there is always a way to get the pressure down 😄 i am trying to keep my paints warmed as much as possible. Also i have been spraying a fair bit with my compressor and gun, and it is definitely nice using much less material, but you do have to thin a fair bit.
Good point, warming the paint lowers the viscosity.. I very much like the look of Wagners heated hose system 😊🤔
@@PaintHQ definitely. There is a lot of buzz about them at the moment. I am looking at a bigger pump already and the sf23 has popped on my radar. They work together very well as.they have a passthrough for it. One day maybe. Tritech just showed a prototype this week of a t5 with heated hose too 😃
Sounds awesome mate 👍 Nice setup 👌

Hey guys I have used both tips ,I prefer the triteck tips personally they got a double orfice for better optimization.I prefer so spray hi end products like cic or environlak
Hey buddy, thanks for your feedback and insight into what you’re using.. Yeah the TriTech Ultras are popular in the refinishing world, spraying products such as Envirolak and Renner🙌👏👌 ..keep in touch my friend, it’ll be great to get your input in future.. regards Pete
Beautiful finish! 👍
You're so kind, thank you 🙏
Looks so dark in there!
I love the cordless technology from Graco, it’s led me to go cordless I’m other tools too.. including area lighting 😆

Thank you Sonny, appreciate your input my friend 🙏
Hi do you need to change filter on pc gun ? If so are they different colours etc ? Thanks
Hey buddy.. yes there’s gun filters in the Graco Contractor PC guns - smaller / stumpy version in the PC Compact 👍 colours are black (60 mesh), blue (100 mesh), and red (200 mesh).. I clean them during the sprayer cleaning and I very rarely need to replace 👍 regards Pete
@@PaintHQ Thanks so just got a Gx21 with Hopper . Do you soak in thinners to clean ? Thanks

Do you ever get droplets on triggering? I have the same gun and always get those spits which makes it impossible to do the “fine” finish 😢
If you get a spit when you trigger on Vs a spit when triggering off.. it could be the gun packing / PC cartridge.. how much use has your PC Compact gun had ?

greetings from australia ...im new to spraying , i notce you always prime pre painted doors? is that a must do even if re painting over acrylic finish , or only if you are repainting enamel doors ..

Amazing work as always my friend, allow me to ask which filter you used in the gun for a paint with this viscosity and fflp 208 nozzle
You’re so kind, thank you my friend.. I used 100 mesh / blue filters in gun and manifold.. Regards Pete 💙💯
Im surprised that you didn’t get any tip blockages , I usually get them right in the middle of the door at eye level 🥺
Hello my friend.. yeah I know what you mean 🙈 ..the products I’m spraying (primer / topcoat), are low viscosity (thin) manufacturer coatings, just like the ones in this video, going through HVLP without thinning..
ruclips.net/video/lkGZCVcP6l0/видео.html
..They’re very suited to the .008 tips, such as a 208 / 308.. if I recall, I strained the paint into the hopper too, just to get rid of old dried paint falling in from the can.. always a pleasure to hear from you, hope you’re keeping well and having success spraying 👌👍😆 ..regards Pete
Thanks for beautiful and informative video. I have one question... what type of paint you used? Is 210 or 310 or 410 tips can I use for latex paints?
@@PaintHQ ok. That’s all understood thank you. I appreciate you taking the trouble to reply. Take care please.
You’re very welcome my friend.. feel free to ask questions anytime and I’ll always do my best to answer 👍 ..regards Pete
They turned out good I was almost gonna start calling you tiger because I thought there was going to be a bunch of stripes they gelled out nice 👍🏻 I probably would’ve used FFLP 515 not having to do so many passes but it looked great nice job 👍🏻 btw I do like the way you showed the consistency of the material that is super important I always like to add a cat full of floetrol also
Thanks for your feedback my friend and sharing a very good tip regarding Floetrol 👍🙏 Regards Pete 💙💯
Hi pete

Thanks
Hey buddy, thanks for your question.. They’re Trimaco Supertuff Paint Strainers 5L

Ok, but how do you deal with the area under the door handle, when they are installed? You clearly leave a missed spot under the door handle...
What’s the finish on the paint ? Satin?
Yes my friend, it’s a satin / 30% sheen 👍
I'm not a professional painter, but I'm curious about why the tests were sprayed onto a horizontal surface instead of a vertical surface? Also, what exactly are you looking for when testing?
Thanks,
Hi Glen, great to hear from you.. it really is great to hear from non-professionals, I will do all I can to help and advise.. it’s actually a very good question you ask.. I lay a piece of brown paper on the floor, rather than stick to a wall, purely for speed and convenience.. I always spray a test in that way before spraying ‘live’.. what I’m looking for is a fine atomisation (a very small droplet).. this is seen at the edges, we call this a feathered edge.. then across the middle of the fan width, I’m looking for an even distribution of paint.. all sounds complicated, it’s actually a simple process 😆 setting up an airless sprayer to spray paint is relatively simple to setup.. like in my video, I start with the pressure potentially lower than where I’ll end up.. spray a test, you’ll probably see ‘tails’.. so not a feathered edge and a broken pattern across the middle.. then up the pressure by about 200 psi and test again.. the tails will start to disappear and the pattern will improve.. repeat until you get a nice fan pattern as described above 😆 ..the Graco FF LP tips really do atomise material very fine and a much lower pressure 💙
Hope this helps, keep in touch my friend..

Yeah great, let me know what you think of the 616 👌😆
I have the ultra max what fflp tip do you recommend for doors trims l have 310 and 312 🍻
Hey buddy.. for door frames / architraves (trim), I’d go for a 208 or 210 depending on the viscosity of the material.. most decorative (thicker) paints require a 210 👍 ..A 208 speed will probably be around 3 or 4..
Another great video
Re the tops of the doors do you just use a piece of wood screwed in each one or is it a 'proper' door holder thingy?
Ta
@@PaintHQ
Cheers
Yeah more chance for airborne crap to land on them if laid horizontal whilst drying
I've booked a job in with 10 doors to spray in a room I'll make up similarly to yours.
Gotta be tritech for me I think it gives a softer fan pattern
Thanks for your feedback buddy.. Great to hear you get good results with TriTech.. Do you find the pressure is higher than you’d expect? I fancy trying an .06 tip ..All the best, regards Pete 👍
Tip top 👍🏻
Great video, looks like the graco looks more even, I don’t have much experience with water based enamel I’m still spraying oil gloss on the woodwork. I are you doing 2 top coats?
Thanks for the feedback and your input my friend.. Yeah 2 top coats sprayed 👍 ..Bet you’re getting nice results spraying oil based gloss 👌
..What spray machine / setup are you using? Regards Pete
PaintHQ , nice so what grit paper do you use between coats ? I live in Australia so oil based gloss is normally used here, I get a great finish but lately oil based is yellowing a lot faster, woodwork I use a Wagner aircoat with flat tips 09/40 and thin around 20% with enamel thinners
Ah it’s great to hear from someone in Australia 🇦🇺👏
..It’s 240 grit between coats sandpaper.. Typically I’m just looking to sand off any nibs, between the top coats 👍
..Is that an AAA setup you’re using with the Wagner? Very nice my friend 👌👏
PaintHQ thanks , yes Wagner aircoat is air assisted airless , also got the graco 395 and 1095
Awesome buddy.. You’ve got a great setup with those machines 👏👏👏 ..Keep in touch.. regards Pete
Yeah definitely let me know Simon.. I’ve just brought a TriTech Ultra Fine Finish 616 😊 Not had a chance to try it yet
Hey Sam.. Yeah a new tip.. That’s a very good point, thanks for sharing my friend 👏💯
900psi It looks smoother and consistent.
Hey Tony, yeah sprayed lovely with the FFLP tip at 900 psi.. great to have you contributing on the channel.. feel free to ask questions and I’ll always do my best to answer.. regards Pete 🎨💯
Very good video
Thank you very much Colin.. regards Pete
Pete
Super,respect!)
Thanks my friend, appreciate that 👍😊
@@PaintHQ Hi, I also do painting, study with you and other masters, your videos are very interesting and I enjoy watching them.

Thanks Roman.. you’re welcome to comment any time if you have a question, and I’ll always do my very best to help you 👍
I’m sure you’re doing great my friend 😆👍
What product for the doors there buddy did you thin it at all 👍🏻
It’s a low viscosity manufacturer waterborne coating, primer and top coat 👍 No thinning my friend, I wouldn’t thin a trim paint going through an airless sprayer, I wouldn’t want to risk altering the properties of the material.. I’d use a bigger tip if needed.. thanks for your question 👍 ..I plan to do a future video featuring the waterborne trim paints that I’m a fan of 👌 What trim products are you currently using?
@@PaintHQ I use Helmi un thinned I’ll try Isomat next the finish on the doors was exceptional that’s why I asked 👍🏻
Helmi is great 👏 30 and 80.. Helmi 80 is my go to if customer wants that higher sheen 👌😊
@@MEVD2011 the isomat is seriously nice stuff! Infact pete has seen the end result on my insta. The whitest woodwork paint i have used.
Lovely job 👏👏👏
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 content, me think.... You a 'still movie' 🎥producer❓
Good stuff
🎥🎬 Haha 😂 ..You’re so kind 😆
(too much air for example, you can get orange peel)
Is it possible to spray a test on a test piece, to eliminate the door and door prep.. if contamination is the issue, a primer such as BIN would be helpful.. if only small areas need to be fixed, you can get it rattle cans to spot prime..
I do hope this helps my friend.. great to have your input on the channel, let me know how you get on 👌👍😆 ..regards Pete
Those Tritech tips work at low pressure with high solids and high viscosity paints
Really appreciate your input and information, thank you 🙏 regards Pete
In my experience tritech do finest finish then fflp
Hey Lauro, thanks for the feedback, you’re right the double atomisation produces a very fine finish.. great to have your contribution on for channel my friend.. regards Pete 🎨💯
208 with 50% overlap on so many doors? Any reason you don’t use something like 510?
Hey Igor, you make a very good point my friend.. I’m using a low viscosity material, so the .008 tips give just the right amount of fluid flow.. usually I’d use a 308 for the doors 👍 ..thanks for your feedback.. regards Pete
Muito top
você é tão gentil, obrigado .. mantenha contato meu amigo 🙏
I threw away all my whip hoses, they just mess up the pressure.
That’s interesting to hear my friend 🤔
@@PaintHQ the 15’ and 25’ ones. The 3’ ones didn’t have any pressure problems.
@igorverdes thank you my friend, appreciate the info 🙏💙💯
Graco
Great videos, but please take your handles off, you can’t spray lever handle doors like that. As you’re passing the gun over the taped handle, there is going to be missed bits behind that handle.
Thanks for the feedback and your input my friend.. regards Pete 🙏
🇩🇿🤝
Thank you brother 🇩🇿🙏
I would go 1300 psi
Hi Tony, appreciate your input my friend.. the TriTech Ultra’s certainly produce a very nice finish but do require that bit more pressure.. you might like this video, it showcases fine finish tips by Graco, TriTech and Wagner..

Never put the tip holder on with your hand in front of the gun then point it the gun towards your face
Hi Brian.. thank you for your observation, I’ll have to rewatch the footage to remind me of the scenario.. with filming alone, it’s sometimes tricky to position yourself when demonstrating.. rest assured, the gun safety catch should be engaged and the pressure dumped when handling the tip guard.. all the very best my friend, it’ll be good to have you contribute in future, keep in touch.. regards Pete
900 psi
👏👏👏👍🙏
All that work to paint doors and you leave the hardware on. Tells me you don’t know what you are doing. Which then becomes evident, a 208 tip is designed to give you a 4” fan, and you covering nearly all the 12” paper.
Thank you my friend, appreciate your feedback.. rest assured if the door furniture can be removed, it gets removed.. as demonstrated in this video, if you care to take a look..

Hey Wes.. what’s “900” my friend? 😆
@@PaintHQ 5:57
Ah yes I see.. good choice 👌👍😆 Appreciate your input 💯 Regards Pete
@@PaintHQ What do you think yourself? On screen it was the 900 in my opinion. What do you think in real life?
Hey Wes.. definitely the Graco FFLP (spraying at 900psi)..
208? Fan too thin for doors, at least a 308 and please take your door handles off, you can’t spray the doors properly with handles on.
