- Installing and testing the rare VC-10 VHF Converter module into the Kenwood R-2000 Communications Receiver, and tuning some signals.
Nice work Arthur !!!!! Its always great when it works and YES to no unboxing video !!! (y) - thanks Ron
Ron C thanks- this radio is an absolute blast, for a "modern" radio, and maybe my best Goodwill score of all time!
Great video 🙏
Been trying to find the VHF converter for a while now, they are rare in the United Kingdom too, as of 2021 virtually impossible to find one 🥺
Excellent.
CB Fall Thanks- it's an absolute blast!

Hi I`ve just bought an R-2000,with the VHF converter already installed, but the radio will now only tune from 118-174mhz.Any ideas how to revert it to general coverage?
Uninstall the module, and take the band switch down after unplugging. Make sure you take out the power cord first.
Nice, iv got the R2000 but need the converter, it’s like getting blood out of a stone finding one.
It’s worth getting. Unfortunately eBay prices have driven all prices on it way up. When ham radio auctions and flea markets start up again, probably your best bet.
@@ArthurJS123 yes I can imagine, it’s a beautiful receiver and the uhf is a must for me as I like the Airband, I have other receivers that dose have Airband but out of all the new equipment I have I just love this old Kenwood I like the retro vintage look of it. Thanks. Great video.
@@Dr.Gunsmith thank you. I do own better performers, but it is certainly a heck of a lot of fun.
Where the heck do I find 1 of these and hopefully it's not gonna cost me 100 bucks I already have the radio I've had it for years
Keep looking.
The air band 118-137 is AM not FM
Thanks keyboard warrior.
Diesel, 118mHz to 137mHz; therefore VHF voice air band just after the FM public band. fill in the blanks!
@@dieselten01 on 2 mter they transmit in all mode incudes FM and SSB
Fine ! What sort of VHF antenna did you use ?
A whip
@@ArthurJS123 Thanks a lot 😊
Then I am a lucky dog since I own a R 2000 with the VHF cassette in it. I WONDER if it csn be modded to have 87 to 108 mhz too.
@@ON5ALE-Alessio If VHF is your thing, sure. Modded? Don’t even bother. You can get radios that would sound much better for a fraction of the cost and effort .
Yes ofcourse all FM 88 to 108 sound better as a HF receiver but it's just me. I want to mod it likd I did with cars and motorcycles. I eant mine to have BFO and the radio fm band 86 to 108 @@ArthurJS123
@Alessio-v3o I doubt it’s worth the effort. But Google is your friend, I guess.
Please show the installation from the start
David Williamson it’s already installed. If you know how to do that while holding a camera, be my guest.
