Respectfully, people’s vacations being canceled is the last thing people should be worried about, Tampa is about to get a knock out before recovering from round one.

As a frequent traveler, Delta and United do not charge cancelation fees, they give you the full fair back as a credit. In instances of natural disaster or political unrest, they often just refund the full amount if you ask. Major hotels charge no fees if directly booked and canceled within 24 hours. Car rental agencies never charged cancelation fees when booked direct. Take away here: always book direct and you never have to pay cancelation fees.

I'd think that the hotels would be full of people who've had to evacuate---are they getting double pay for rooms? ALso, I'd email/text/call& record to find out if the hotel is open---if they are not, you should be able to get a refund---and ALWAYS pay by credit card, if you complain they contact the company who has only a limited time to respond before they refund you. Worth a try.
