I remember Hurricane Ian made a landfall daytime. It was scary to watch live stream of the storm surge and the fury of the wind.
There were far more tornadoes than 17. There were 17 at one time. They came all day! I was watching all day on RUclips. I can’t even tell you how many tornadoes there were today. Horrific.

Unfortunately, the lowering of the wind is the worst thing that can happen! It causes the storm to increase in size, especially a 30 mph drop will broaden the storm dramatically. It will dump more rain and have a larger storm surge area too.

the sight of those ambulances lined up by the side of the road broke my heart. Imagine being bedridden and helpless and being evacuated. Frightening. Of course not being evacuated would be more frightening I guess but it can't feel good to be taken away from the doctors and nurses who have been caring for you

Very common normal thing to see in hurricanes unfortunately. I live east coast NC and I have been here since 1993... So plenty of storms just not an almost category 5! Craziness. The intensity of this storm doesn't surprise with the spurring of tornadoes as the first bands came thru. All that cloud cover, and moisture, and low pressure absolute perfect combo for tornadoes. I'll never forget sounds of trees snapping around our home and the sirens going off. It's weird and scary 🙏🏻 for Florida and my Asheville friends from Helene

Because they know it’s going to be another typical hurricane and have been through many of these. If it was as dire as they are claiming NO ONE would be around. You’ll still see cops sitting somewhere in their cars posted up or driving around. Not saying it’s not gonna be a hard hittin storm but once it hits land it becomes just another hurricane. Florida has been through way worse many times and everything is still going as normal.

Storm cellers ? God created the Earth and universe. God did not create that people build structures in areas known to have this type weather. The positive is that this severity level of weather does not happen that often. And, even after this storm passes, people will continue residing in those same areas. I'm not sure, but does that area have "storm cellers" built underneath the house structure. Prayers for all effected by this story, including their loved ones living in other areas.

So this woman said that people got out of their SUV and were swapping the drivers, he didn't pay real close attention. They were actually taking pictures of each other with the background of the ocean behind them. They had a camera, they were snapping pictures of each other with that in the background for a channel RUclips channel or something like that they weren't swapping drivers. Seems to me it has not been long ago that a major hurricane crossed Florida, as I remember they decided to improve the building codes.
Never the less the lives lost and the damage done is forgotten, actually it's just another Hurricane season in Florida.
If anyone stayed i dont think it was by choice, i think that car lots shouldve left keys in the cars on the car lots for people without a way out.. SHOULD HAVE HAD BUSSES PICKING UP PEOPLE, SCHOOL BUSSES ALOT OF PEOPLE HAVE NO WHERE TO GO OR THE MONEY TO STAY AT HOTELS, MOTELS, THEY SHOULD BE OFFERING FREE ROOMS FOR AT LEAST 2 FREE NIGHTs. Storm cellers ? Do people who live in those areas, do they have storm cellers structures built below house level? A place to use through the year, but also used as a secure place to go to for safety when these level storms hit ? I live in area few state away, so not knowledgable about areas that's more prone to severe weather.
The water table is too high for Florida to build basements on their houses.The water table was simply just pushed them up above land.
Which is also why there are no inground pools in florida
Rare to see a cellar in florida. Water table is not very deep. It would be the worst place to be during flooding.
Storm cellars are good for twisters. Not good if the surge floods it.
