In 1928, my father lost most of his family and watched them die in a Florida Hurricane. There is no way all of that "Sunshine" is worth that. I used to work for a national company that required me to do business in Florida and I hated every moment I was there. I was so happy when that location was removed from my territory. While it was very unfortunate for your father and that was a horrific experience, there is way more sunshine here than hurricanes. There's a reason people relocate here. Been there done that. Never again. I moved out and have peace of mind. Not only hurricanes but tropical storms then tornadoes, flooding, repairs due to damage or flooding, no internet connection, unable to work. Insurance hikes, car hikes , etc…..is not worth it to me. Emotional & financial stress is immense. Most of our families moved out for that reason. Praying for Fl and all people affected.

Seniors do what we did. I'm sure you have two other senior families, a husband and wife, three families all together pack up in a cooler. Your best frozen meats, potatoes, onions, vegetables in a bag, one each a suitcase of your best clothing, personal papers and leave. Go to a residence inn. You can get a larger run. Two bedrooms up and down two bathrooms. A full kitchen to cook your food and even a washer and dryer. We are very comfortable and call the Red Cross. They will help you with money also and then remember from FEMA you will each get $750 instantly so you will get your money back. Don't stay there. The governor is an idiot. It's dangerous, stupid and childish to not take phone calls from the president or the vice president. He does not know more than FEMA. This is what they do. Try to save your life. Get out of there. Make no mistake about it. This is going to be bad

I lived in Florida in the late 90's, early 2000's and never experienced a hurricane during those years. Florida actually began getting hit by hurricanes in the mid 2000's somewhere around there.
