- pls ignore in the middle of the video where I go for a quick walk to show the correct screwdriver, I'm too lazy to edit but we cover the correct screwdriver again anticipating the previous blooper 🤣🤣🤣🤣. I Love these old classics with so many features for their era. We did actually replace the light globe as you can see in the actual pix of the unit, looks heaps better versus the video we took. I was gifted one of these units a few years ago and it includes the VHF upconverter for 2m. They certainly are a nice receiver!

I have watched a number of your videos. Thinking of a FT-2000 as a first transceiver. Any experiences with them?
Hi Ive just completely taken out the VFO in my r2000 (like in the vid at 5.30 mins) to give it a clean with switch cleaner. There was nothing wrong with it before I took it out, but after dousing it with switch cleaner I think ive damaged something. I left it a good 20 mins after switch clean and switching on. Everything else seems fine just the VFO not doing anything now, on slow, medium, or fast settings, the lock is not on and the up/down buttons work. Could spaying switch cleaner on the light sensor thing that reads the spinning disk damage it do you think. Thanks
