  • The GYROKINESIS® Method is a movement method that coordinates movement, breath, and mental focus. Gyrokinesis exercises address the entire body by opening energy pathways, stimulating the nervous system, increasing range of motion, and creating functional strength through rhythmic, flowing movement sequences.
Unlike the Gyrotonic Method, which is practiced on equipment, the Gyrokinesis Method is practiced on a mat and chair, without equipment.
Within the GYROTONIC EXPANSION SYSTEM® Method, there are two distinct methods of practice: the GYROTONIC® Method and the GYROKINESIS® Method. This video is a preview of the GYROKINESIS® Method.

I wonder if the con comments have tried the method or are they just going on the description...
I have practiced yoga tai chi and a number of other exercise methods.
I have been guided in the gyrotonic method for over a year and find it to be the most useful method
to moving the whole body and leading with the center I have found.

Gyrokinesis began as a program for injured gymnasts and dancers to remain engaged in their discipline while healing from traumatic physical injuries that limited their activity. It focuses on maintaining the high level of mind/body/brain proprioceptive engagement that skilled athletes, dancers, performers depend on, while keeping the musculoskeletal system fully active and engaged without causing any further physical trauma. Try it! It is extremely effective in this regard.

I would love to take a class like this… I live in the San Francisco Bay area and when I Google the name, it only comes up with facilities that have the large machines. Is there a particular name for this class that is done with no equipment?

Thank you for your question! Yes, the GYROKINESIS® Method is practiced on a mat and chair without equipment. Many studios offer classes for both the GYROKINESIS® Method and the GYROTONIC® Method but some may focus on just one of the modalities. You can use the Studio Finder on our website to find the contact information for studios near you at www.gyrotonic.com/studios. Then you can inquire directly to see if they offer Gyrokinesis classes. We hope this helps!

What does it mean for body systems to be "out of balance"?. Which body systems are addressed through Gyrokinesis and how? This video speaks very generally about Gyrokinesis and actually raises more questions than it answers. Any exercise program that involves a variety of movements is going to give you these benefits as has been demonstrated by a multitude of research over the past decades. Seems to me Gyrokinesis is just movement given a registered trademark so it can be more easily sold.

Gyrokinesis is a complex, minutely articulated approach to wholistic health that promotes the integration of the musculosketal system with all functions of both the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems, the circulatory system and the lymph system, as well as with one's innate mind/brain/body awareness. Suspend your judgement and try it, you will eventually experience how all this feels and it's benficial affect!

@@agathaiammatteo3756 as someone looking for a movement-based practice, and comparing various approaches, I am still very interested in the answers to Paulamecium's specific questions: "What does it mean for body systems to be "out of balance"?. Did you even try it? if you did not , then you should not adress a negative answer just because. Please try it and you will defenetly Change your answer. I garantee it

@@bogdanmuresan7890 why do you need to try something to question claims? If I were to sell you my homemade brew that cures cancer can you question that or do you need to buy and taste my brew first? Gyrokinesis claims to cure something that doesn't even exist or is not defined or testable. That is a manipulating way of getting people to buy or do the exercise. Now, I am not saying it doesn't feel good or no one should do it but I am addressing false or unsupported claims, making something sound more awesome than it is to trick the consumer.
So, please answer our specific and reasonable questions Gyrokensis!
"What does it mean for body systems to be "out of balance"?
How do you know and test they are in balance and what does that mean for the person?
Which body systems are addressed through Gyrokinesis and how?"
Failing to answer these questions would be similar to admitting to promoting false claims to manipulate people into buying your courses and teachings.

Smertevidenskab.dk there’s a lot to learn from gyro. Energy moving in opposition, sense of your core drawing the energy.. enhances your spacial awareness. So does yoga and pilates but gyro is more a series of circular motion rather than lateral/ vertical. Some are so dogmatic about gyro which scares people away, but its good to be sceptical - if you ever get to try it you might love it, u never kno
