One thing I like about this channel is that there is no disregard shown for Fender, Gretsch ,Rickenbacker, or any other brand guitars although it’s a Gibson channel. I like that. This is the way it should be.
I got backstage with four 60's SGs and several other guitars in October 1983 when AC/DC was touring with Stevie Ray Vaughn, Stevie came out of his dressing room and was very friendly and played a few of our guitars, couldn't get near Angus' dressing room, when they walked by to go onstage they were surrounded by bodyguards and we held up the SGs, they looked over but the bodyguards wouldn't let us near, that was that. Funny thing they were all about 5 foot tall, and Stevie was maybe 5'5".
@@malcolmadams2105 I did some work with Kirk about a decade ago, went over to Metallica HQ a few times. I looked at James' cases in the room where they keep all their stored gear. Other than his early 80s guitars, I don't remember seeing any vintage guitars. Almost exclusively the custom Explorer and LP style guitars he's known for playing on stage. Maybe he's got a vintage stash at home.
@@malcolmadams2105 Hammett and Hetfield have insane vintage guitar collections. Both own original 58-59' Explorers, Hammett owns a '57 prototype Flying V, multiple Bursts, Custom Color Fenders, Gibson Hollowbodies. I listened to a podcast with Hammett few months back where he said he owns 12 Bursts.
Keith is such a nice guy. He seems very grateful for what he has. Great collection episode can’t wait to see the next one. All EQ’s at noon little bit of reverb man I miss hearing that.
It's pretty rare that I would sit through an entire hour long RUclips video but this one breezed by. This was seriously high quality content and really well produced. Not sure if there could be a better host than Mark for this either.
YEA HE SHOULD NOT LOOK LIKE A GUITAR PLAYER, AND PUT ON A SUIT LOL, THATS HIS THING, HE HAS RELATIONSHIPS WITH ALL THESE GUYS, AND CAME UP WITH THE WHOLE IDEA! ITS NOT A GAME SHOW, HES NOT PAT SAJAK, LOL
Joy to experience a true craftsman and down to earth expert who has a real purpose for each and every piece. His spontaneous love for each guitar and amp made my day!
Best Gibson tv episode yet. I remember seeing Keith in an interview once mention how the audience never knew or cared about his guitars. To him his burst was a Superman cape. Never heard it put better. Well done guys
Buckcherry was such a big band to me when I was young. When they came back out my jam buddy Steve and I saw them at a small club in Vancouver. Guy is a great player, and the band was on point. Also, don’t mess with his pedal board in the middle of a song! Some drunk plowed through the crowd and ended up beside me stage front. He reached over and hit a phaser or something, and Keith kicked him straight in the face. It was fantastic.
@@smoggy1964 yeah it’s become much more focused on Lemmos playing as opposed to being focused on the history of the guitars. I only tune in if it’s something I really want to see.
Keith is such a skilled, knowledgeable, and humble guy this is probably one of Marks best interviews. I say one of the best because Keith was a really cool guest on the show with cool gear, and Mark did such a great interview
The drool factor in these episodes cannot be overstated. As a mere mortal I'll never get my hands on any of these rarities, but it's amazing to see what's out there. Thanks for doing these.
I graduated high school with Keith, and he was always a really nice guy. He started playing a few years after a lot of us, so it feels even more awesome that he's had such a successful music career. Also - that 'burst with the Bigsby is *gorgeous* and in such great shape!
Props to Keith. Class act for opening up his amazing collection to us. I’m a drummer, but a lover of guitars and the iconic artists and music they’re associated with. Wish vintage drums had the same kind of magic to them.
World Class,Act! Great Collection.enjoyed All the knowledge. Outstanding review, again thanks for Sharing chow,on to the next interviews, peace n take care...lio Galveston
I love this guys tone. Of course he plays a Les Paul. My first guitar was a Les Paul. My last guitar will be a Les Paul. When I finish watching this episode, I'm going to go look at my next one.
One of my favorite parts of these videos (besides the badass guitars) is the plethora of knowledge and overall excitement we get from Mark. You can tell he’s a fan first of music and guitars and it shows. Can’t imagine anyone else doing these interviews. I don’t think they would hold the same amount of water.
This is such a great series. I didn’t plan on spending an hour watching a video on my phone this afternoon but I sure as hell did and it felt like a few mins
Been a Buckcherry fan since their debut album. Always loved Keith Nelson's tone. After watching this, I'm struck by Keith's genuine love of these "tools". As a weekend warrior guitar player, I have nothing but love and respect for the true professionals like Keith that have made a career out of music!! Keep on keepin' on.
Ohhhh man!!! Thanks mark and Gibson!! I’ve been waiting for the next collection video like a junkie waiting for a fix. Here we are in the middle of a nor’easter in Massachusetts and this video came in at the exact right time. Thanks mark!!
This popped up on youtube again and after watching it again I realized one thing Keith is the best part of his collection, and him and the collection are a great match that work well together. Again Mark did his part as a interviewer to make this great
Best interview I've see to the moment. lot of order and calm, nice guitars, good histories and the amps. And most important to me. I dont know his music but I'll check
He is very humble about his collection and this was refreshing to see someone talk about their guitars without being obnoxious. I’ve heard ‘crazy bitch’ enough times to last a lifetime but it looks like it paid off well for him! I’d love to be friends Keith!

Yes, thanks to Gibson for letting that happen. Jim DeCola worked for Fender for 11 years. So I'm sure he has some nice Fenders in his personal stash.

It's cool that he still checks out the Fenders.
I doubt that there exists a Gibson owner that doesn’t own a Fender, and vice-versa. I also think Gibson and Fender are keenly aware of this fact.
