The problem with someone like Billy or Keith is that 99% of their gear is locked away in various warehouses. Billy Gibbons would be my #1 guy to sit for a week and go through his cases...Keith Richards collection would take a month!
I'm really glad one of Gibson's people respects other brands because Gibson and Fender are the cradle and just the beginning of something most beautiful in the music world for us musicians
Absolutely. My true love will always be the les paul but we've all a that love affair with other brands. The mistresses, if you will, that we have that only they can possess certain characteristics and love. Drool Drool Drool ,this series ROCKS!!!.You guys scared me when you removed the first upload.Keep em coming please ,i could watch this for hours.Thank you John and Gibson for this.
It is so cool that this guy knows he is extremely lucky to own all these amazing guitars. I'm glad these guitars are owned by someone that truly loves them 😁
So good. I just love hearing Mark Agnesi discuss guitars. His knowledge and passion of all makes and models is so fun to listen to for me. He really living a dream life and you can tell he enjoys this stuff so much.
One of the things I like about this episode is that most of that gear seems to be being used from time to time, getting some love and being appreciated. No issue with other collectors storing their guitars, but it's a shame not playing some of those! Nice video!
Guess I'l repost my original comment, too - Man, I love these shows! Keep 'em comin', Mark - and again, kudos for showing more than just Gibsons in these videos. It's also really cool that you looked at amps and other equipment too. 👍👍👍
I wouldn't be surprised if one of these major collector guys has my 1980 Les Paul that was stolen from me in Hollywood twenty-two years ago. Mark - thanks for bringing this to us and to John Shanks, thanks for sharing your amazing collection and studio.
Loving this series! Dan Auerbach would make an interesting episode, and he'd be local for you down in Nashville. I guess he's not so much known for playing Gibsons, but I do know he just picked up a 59 burst. He used to play a Trini sometimes too. But the other stuff would more than make up for anything lacking.
awesome ....poor Mark ...the look of affection/ longing as John is playing that first 59'..like...aww, gee wiz, I wish she were my girl...i would be the same and I have been!
What an impressive collection! I’m sure other people say this: Thank you John Shanks for letting MA come in and poke around your house and collection... and in turn thanks for letting us drool over ourselves looking at it all (and there’s a lot!)
Oh and BTW - thank you GIBSON TV for not being like “ONLY GIBSONS PLEASE”... it would be easily understood if you only wanted to dedicate the time and space to your own vintage gear - it’s so choice - but you don’t... you let the other vintage marques shine too. That’s very, very gracious.
When it comes to Pelham blue, my favorite finish is when the nitrocellulose clear coat turns yellow with age, and the transparent yellow over the Pelham blue makes it “Pelham green”. Mixing primary colors just like in grade school art class. The shade of green it produces is amazing. A kind of pale, metallic green. Then, what makes it even cooler is the idea that under that yellowing finish it’s still a blue guitar. You see green but there’s no green anything on the guitar. This yellowing clear coat is like some kind of prism, changing blue to green through the lens of the nitrocellulose coating. It’s fascinating.
Your killing it mark. Would have liked to have seen some more of the other guitars like the gretch ricks and fenders. But appreciate you showing what you did of the other brands
This is about the third time I'm watching this but the main thing is that he uses these instruments. I don't know if to this day but hes using these vintage instrument and that's What's important ❤❤
This is so great. You will laugh but John's production's of Michelle Branch's records were when I first learned about this talented producer. Since then, all the recordings I have made in my little home project studio have been sorry attempts to emulate his genius.

Great Guy .... Incredible Collection... I used to have a Pelham Blue 12 String Melody Maker just like that...Very Deep Blue along with a Sparkling Burgundy version... So cool...and cheap years back... Rudy@GRNY
what an amazing collection of really high end vintage instruments. I like that he actually plays them, but it does beg the question of what's a collection vs. what's an obsession. Unwinding these large collections is kind of PITA
Wow what a collection. I wish he had taken down one of those explorers to demo. I’m currently saving up for an explorer custom, it’s been my dream guitar for years and I can’t wait to get one.
Excellent video! Keep 'em coming Mark. Thanks for sharing your collection John. My $0.02....I get the rarity factor with early vintage black ES-3x5 guitars. But honestly, I think the cherry colored ES guitars looks so much better, especially unfaded examples. Everything else being equal..,.I would choose a cherry ES-3x5 over a black example any day. And a nice brown-yellow sunburst looks nicer to me.
Such amazing guitars and yet I love my 92 Levinson blade Stratocaster dearly and it’s all I need. That’s how incredibly satisfying of an instrument the guitar is.
WoW!!! Again, wraparound tailpiece is by far the coolest bridge...lol P-90's are badass too Would've been cool to know which guitar goes with which song too...lol
