This rehash of the ancient lore actually made everything coherent. I really enjoy the story so far, and I actually managed to learn something new. Definitely waiting for the part 3
+notoriousbig3k You can tell that you're a moron who only played the expansions because of the hype and has never even touched any of the novels. If Pandaria isn't canon then we lose the August Celestials (which played a giant part in the early story of Azeroth) as well as Lei Shen and the freeing of the Pandaren (Which are all core characters to the main storyline before Green Jesus appeared). L2P & L2R kid.
Originally he wanted to use the picture of a planet void filled from the star augur etraeus encounter but he couldnt get a clearer version of it hence why he used this.He talked about this on twitter.
+soulkutu Bitch bitch bitch. Doesn't matter how insignificant, someone will fucking bitch. Thanks for taking the time to make this video, Nob. Ignore the complainers.
They were "inspired" by H.P. Lovecraft enough to rip off his gods for their pantheon. Cthulhu = C'thun, Yog Sothoth = Yogg Saron, Shub Niggurath = Shul Nagrath... They put less effort into changing the names than a 7th grader copying Wikipedia.
Narev nah, I still give the reward of less effort to the 7th grader, most I knew didn’t change anything from Wikipedia. Few copied the sources section, was disappointing even to me...
Watching your videos before going to sleep ain't really the best idea, at least for me. Once again, one video led to another and that another to another one. About 4 hours later, here I am looking for the next video
Listening to this while trying to sleep, gets an 8 minute ad in the middle... caught me off guard. Lost focus, again. I want to learn the lore but my thoughts always wander and suddenly I've lost a minute of it and when i listen again I don't know what's going on. This is well made and I'm sad I can't get through them because my brain sucks.
I am an old female fart,,and have only just begun to play wow, just to understand what my kids were talking about. After watching ur understanding of the lore it makes it so much eaiser for myself to understand. Thank you for taking the time to do this. The game is great.I love it !!
I have never played Warcraft games, mostly I have no idea what are you talking about in those videos, but I really really like em. Thank you so much, those videos truly are amazing.
might be because in the modern nights, the term has grown wider, including ancient beings and even loa, even those who would bot have fit in Freyas definition of the term.
Haha, now that you mention it. A race of ancient, virtually immortal beings, with stronger ties than any other native race to the emerald dream and the ancients. They might as well be.
+AlphosLeo Queen Azshara gained future visions Satyr's are corrupted elfs Naga are corrupted elfs they are basically the fallowers of Azshara that wanted her corrupted demonic gift she got from Manorath
Fantastic video, Nobbel! it was so well put together and your understanding of the lore makes it so easy for the viewer to understand, too. Thank you for the story telling!
I feel like there is still a lot more to be said about the Titans encounter with N'Zoth, though the reason they decided to not touch upon it is because they will most likely include it in the next expansion. (Assuming the next expansion is revolving around N'Zoth and Azshara)
These are so fun and itnresting, Since im lonely i really like to dream how i would be in these universes as a hero. I always solo old content and listen to all the lore. This is so good
+Helm Thunderson That's exactly the reason why I picked a female model over male, but that said...The reddit post about the titan spirit describes it as a he. www.reddit.com/r/wow/comments/4bnfpn/spoilers_question_about_the_chronicles_story/
+Nobbel87 Oh wow, you replied! I honestly did not expect that... I did see this before in one of your previous videos, but I found it a bit too ridiculous to take seriously. I just wanted to know if you were supporting the theory, since everything you predict becomes canon. Anyhow, thanks for responding again!
+Nobbel87 What if Elune was actually the elemental lord (Lady? Lordess?) of Spirit? I mean... if you kinda think about it, the NE's and the Wild Gods have always been kinda linked together, and I always assumed the Wild Gods (those are like Ursoc and them, right?) were already linked to Spirit. I know this i kinda late, but it was a thought that came into my head a couple days after I watched this video. Maybe that's why she is the "Moon", because the Old Gods imprisoned her there like the Azeroth the Titan in it's egg. What do you think about that?
+Sauceyapples Oh, that actually makes a lot of sense! But... Wouldn't that mean her powers are drained by that aborted World Soul? (According to that reddit post, that is)
I want a World of Warcraft Let's play :D You playing wow while talk about the Story of the Quests. I could watch it for Years :) Keep up the great work
So what will happen if the titan soul on Azeroth awakens? Will the planet blow up in the process or will it exit the planet in a way that it doesn't kill everything on it?
+NOBUNAGA1991 That's what I was wondering, too. They never really say what happens to the worlds the titans are birthed/wake up from. I'd imagine the waking titan soul would be a zone/raid of some kind either way. Either we'd have to lull it back to sleep so we don't all die or protect it while it does... whatever it does while transitioning from sleepy to wakey.
+NOBUNAGA1991 The exact way the Titans are described makes them sound more metaphysical than physical. So when the Titan is born, he doesn't hatch and destroy the planet, or even go Transformer and shift into a humanoid. It is very likely they instead either a) simply emanate a new metaphysical body, b) their inhabitants create an avatar body which the Titan then uses to move about away from its "real" body, the planet. Remember: the Titans are world-*souls* not worlds. Disclaimer: this is informed speculation.
+NOBUNAGA1991 I think this is gonna be the hidden motives behind why Sargeras wanting Azeroth so badly, he wants to kill the slumbering Titan, because of what nobbel just said the slumbering titan will either be just as powerful as him or even more. This plus the fact it could become corrupted makes him just want to destroy it and be done with it. (Or steal its power)
I kinda wish they had stuck with the lore about Trolls predating the arrival of the Titans. It'd be badass if Trolls were around during the Black Empire, being badass and resilient enough to survive the harsh chaotic environment of the world.
We, the players, are avatars of the titan of azeroth and we are not aware of it, much like Anveena Teague, making us the most important character in the story. That is why we kick everyone's butt and will keep doing so. We are being brought into maturity by our experience in raiding, questing and pvping.
The best next step beyond Legion is to take the battle to Sargeras himself and bring him to justice. Retake Argus, either imprison the demons once and for all or destroy them entirely. That would be an epic expansion.
About the possibility of there being more islands to visit, I remember someone asking Blizzard why the Southern parts of the game are more tropical rather than icy. You can say is because we already have Northrend but even then it would make the world really small, like smaller than Pluto, that could mean that we're only seeing a quarter of the full planet, there could be a Southern region and also a West/East region. Opening the story to more villains and new unique races.
Before Chronicles came out, I always wondered why on earth did the Titans create Well of Eternity on Azeroth but not on Draenor? Like, there's got to have been more purpose in there than just maintaining planet's life force. Now I know and I can relax.
I'm thinking Blizzard could be using these new books to move toward the Titan soul awakening in-game. I wouldn't be mad if that's the way WoW ends. but of course, they want to milk it for all it's worth, so who knows how long that will/would take.
I like the proper explanation for why they only killed Y'Shaarj, the Sha never seemed THAT bad, but if killing one creates another Well of Eternity, that makes sense
Another retcon, of lore almost everyone forgets. According to the Uldaman discs Dwarves were buuilt out of flesh on prior titan worlds, and Azeroth was the first time making them entirely out of stone. Since Draenor had Ogres that were not made of pure stone I think it's still PARTLY true that the titans didn't always make rock and metal servitors.
I think Illidan is the manifestation or aspect of the Titan sleeping in the world. It would make the perfect story tbh. Illidan vs Sargeras would be an extremely good conclusion to the WoW story.
i doubt elune is the titan spirit. she's the mother of the naaru in a sense since she created the prime naaru we recover in legion. i do want more lore for elune though.
I cant help to think that Blizzard has taken a lot inspiration from norse mythology when writing this. There are also lots of norse mythology in Legion as far as I have seen.
I can't remember the video I posted my prediction on, but it went something like: "Sargeras is wiping the universe using the Legion to stop the Old Gods. For what reason, I think because he was AFRAID and he didn't want them to get stronger through the unsuspecting denizens of these worlds they infect." I was mostly right, I guess.
very awesome. I always wondered where the well of eternity came from. wish there was more on the void lord/gods and old gods as they are something thats been very vague
Very cool new lore tidbits! Gotta say, big fan! I love listening to these while I'm at work. It's like listening to books on tape of really interesting short stories! :D That said, I have a couple of questions regarding some info from this video. If the Well of Eternity is the band-aid/result of the wound to the Azeroth Titan Soul from Y'Shaarj being ripped out, what do you think the implications are to the Titan itself would have been when Azshara and the Highborn opened the portal to the Legion through it? Has the Titan been "bleeding out" for 10,000 years after the Well blew up and became the Maelstrom? And, if the Well was the manifestation of the band-aid over the wound, what do you think the new Well that Illidan created with the waters means? Would that be a new wound to the Titan Soul? Could the World Tree a band-aid for the band-aid? Taking that a step further, using the same waters to create the Sunwell, was yet another wound caused to the Titan Soul? Is that perhaps why the Wrathion story said that we must rebuild the final Titan? It seems like we may, inadvertently, been slowly been bleeding it dry like leeches. If the Wells do indeed run off Titan energies, what do you think the implications might be for Draenor/Outland? In the Black Temple, during the warlock green fire questline, it is remarked by Kanrethad Ebonlocke that "The powers of this room are not unlike the original Well of Eternity on Azeroth" in regards to the pool under the Reliquary of Souls. It even had enough power to break the Legion's hold over the demon-kind that now serve Illidan. Do you think this may indicate the presence of a Titan Soul within the planet of Draenor?
Just going on some speculations here, so don't take this as set in stone but I think The other side of Azeroth is guarded by Nzoth(as we know is locked in the ocean) and he has killed any adventurer who ever tried to go there with the help of his minions and Queen Azshara. I believe that after taking care of Gul'dan and perhaps Kil'jaeden, Azshara would fit nicely in the story, we already face her in azsuna and it seems like the beginning of her in-game story. She could perhaps lead us to this new huge continent and there we'd have to face Nzoth cleansing Azeroth of all 4 know old gods. I'd like to think that Sargeras would then see that not everything is loss if we have the will to fight and reverse his decision of destroying the world soul.
Wait there are Five old Gods? If you go to about 18:58 and read the box in the bottom left its say:" The Pantheon shattered the Old God´s citadels and chained the five evil gods far beneath the surface of the world." Weird i always thought there where only four. Great video Nobbel..watching alot of you Lore stuff at the Moment really interesting and im having a blast. Keep it up!
But their description years back were very vague though. How can creatures that are small enough to be inside a planet be on par against something that is bigger than planets combined?
To be fair the titans were just as vague. We were told they fought the old gods, and as far as I'm concerned that worked. The titans were all-powerful, and before all this void nonsense the old gods were their contemporaries. Hell, for a while we thought the fight against Y'sharaaj cost a titan or two. It just kind of devalues the Old Gods as villains is all I'm saying. They're so cool and enigmatic, and now we have these void chumps Blizz shoehorned in to make use of that abandoned subplot from WoD.
DokturProfesur It wasnt because of the abandoned subplot. They "shoehorned" the void gods in because they needed a source for the old gods who just came out of the great dark beyond which as far as lore goes so far, contains nothing but planets. Also, you didnt answer my question.
I mean that's just my point. I thought the Old Gods were enough. My whole point is that I liked it when it was inferred that the titans and the Old Gods were basically opposing forces. The Old Gods could have easily been the lords of the void given their nature. Entropius was allegedly a void god, and we kicked his ass in TBC. "Void God' holds no water to me. Size is irrelevant, it's a principle thing based on what we used to know. It feels forced.
DokturProfesur They retconed void gods. The void lords you see are only small manisfestations. The real void gods as stated in the book are in the void planes that exist outside the reality similar to how the light that the naaru came from exist outside of it aswell. You really do not have the book do you? Or are you just having a problem undrrstanding? Because right now,no offence of course, you sound very ig orant to the lore right now.
Hodor! Oh, my bad, it's Hodir. I love mythology, both real-world mythology and fantasy (books, films, games) mythology. Though learning more about the Titans, it makes me realize they really are the tyrants I originally thought they were. At first I thought their main reason for interfering with the universe and Azeroth was a templar-like dedication to what they believe to be right, but it turns out that they're just trying to make more of their own kind, so they manipulate entire words just to assist in the creation of more Titans. If they succeed, I hope the Titan Azeroth will eventually join forces with Sargeras and defeat the other Titans.
Nitin Shekhar True, they don't "create" more of their own kind. They just go to planets which have the seed to make another Titan, and instead of letting events unfold as they may, they actively prevent the native beings from carrying on, and instead force them to behave in a way that is convenient for the Titans, even imprison them, all that just to keep safe the developing Titan inside the planet. While I understand the desire to keep your own kin safe (as humans we do a lot of that ourselves), it's still possible to be critical of this practice when, in order to achieve it, you need to negatively impact a large number of other beings, who arrived at that location long before you did. I play a blood elf, an orc and a goblin, but not a troll.
Does that mean that the ''We must rebuild the final titan'' speech is about the world soul in our planet and does that mean that a Titan can be born from it ?
I've just seen King Magni's Crystal form in Wowhead, back in Cataclysm Magni Casted a spell to commune with the world and his spell back fired and petrifying him, transforming his form into crystal. It could be one possibility that he could have merge his soul into Azeroth (the slumbering Titan's World-Soul).
Why do you say that? We directly faced both Yogg-Saron and C'thun in their prisons. Idk how to make them more nightmarish (while keeping it PG-13) tbh. They're terrifying.
Only N'Zoth is speculated to be related to it. In the Rift of Aln in the Emerald Dream, Malfurion found the source of the Emerald Nightmare. While he could not destroy it, he contained it instead. And, he said that the source was somewhere deep in the oceans (exactly where N'Zoth is speculated to be).
+Writer Shard it does, I'm here hoping they will released it somewhere this week or at least the released of Civil War, that seem like a good marketing strategy.
+Thinh Vo The audiences for captain america and WC have lots of overlap and most probably would rather see captain because they know it will be a decent film at least. Video game movie adaptations are very murky and there is still some lingering skepticism over the WC movie.
Hi Nobbel, great video, but it left me with some questions I was hoping you could address in a follow up. What happened to the Old Gods or Elemental lords when we "killed" them in World of Warcraft? We fought C'Thun in An'Qiraj, Yogg-Saron in Ulduman, Ragnaros in the Firelands, and Al-Akir in Skywall, but are they really gone?
You should make a video, or a 4 video long series, about the specific stories behind each Old God. I would pay to see that. Unless I missed the video in my google search. If there is one by Nobbel, somebody please tell me.
Just to make sure I understand this correctly. They build a device which could wipe the world of all life. Would that include the Old gods, because then it would kill the sleeping titan too, as we heard killing them damages the planet. So they would do the same thing as Sargeras would in case the planet got corrupted.
I know history of Warcraft more than history of the world
Considering the history of the world are all differences with each individual country and culture that are not connected to each other, I can see why.
both not true. but this one look better :)
It’s okay I don’t really have

It's worth mentioning that the August Celestials from Pandaria are also part of the Wild Gods created by Freya.

I can't remember the video I posted my prediction on, but it went something like:
"Sargeras is wiping the universe using the Legion to stop the Old Gods. For what reason, I think because he was AFRAID and he didn't want them to get stronger through the unsuspecting denizens of these worlds they infect."
I was mostly right, I guess.
hey nobble! love yours videos, I was wondering if you could make a lore video about the worgen
This could be so cool in a RTS
I was really hoping the 5th element was going to be the element of surprise.
very awesome. I always wondered where the well of eternity came from. wish there was more on the void lord/gods and old gods as they are something thats been very vague
So wait, the Titans no longer gave some of their power to the Dragon Aspects for them to bring and keep order to Azeroth?
Very cool new lore tidbits! Gotta say, big fan! I love listening to these while I'm at work. It's like listening to books on tape of really interesting short stories! :D
That said, I have a couple of questions regarding some info from this video.
The Well is basically referred to as scar tissue. So the wound is not bleeding, but not completely healed either.
That portal would have probably reopened the wound imo.
The new "wells" are just made from the arcane energies that were in the well: it's a magic source.
Keep it up!
Can't wait to hear about the Dragon Aspects
I kind of missed when the Old Gods were on par with the Titans. It was nice to have other established enemies that were just as powerful as Sargeras.
Because right now,no offence of course, you sound very ig orant to the lore right now.
goede video ik kijk uit naar de volgende , top man!
But you weren't talking for long enough I want more!!!
Does that mean that the ''We must rebuild the final titan'' speech is about the world soul in our planet and does that mean that a Titan can be born from it ?
You should make a video on either The Bloodsail Buccaneers or the Syndicate.
really good video. thanks for doing it
Your narrations are amazing, man. But, you sound so incredibly Dutch xD
one day we might even rescue poor old Neptulon, you know after he got kidnapped. I am sure he isnt that important to the balance of the world or stuff
I came on this channel for the lore but I'm 300% staying for the way u pronounce 'r'
He would be too insignificant to do anything.
I think we only fought avatars of the Old Gods, we have yet to fight their true forms. If we do, Blizzard should make them more nightmarish.
Why do you say that? We directly faced both Yogg-Saron and C'thun in their prisons. Idk how to make them more nightmarish (while keeping it PG-13) tbh. They're terrifying.
+Little Keegs They also live in the Emerald Dream I believe, meaning that they may have another form there.
Crazy weird graphics error right at the beginning of 9:10, looks super crazy when you pause right in it.
love the video. cant wait for the next one.
Excellent thank you I didn’t know any of this.
Nobbel do you plan on reviewing the new Warcraft trailer?
I rather not, it look shit.
+Thinh Vo The PAX one looks really good.
I remember the faceless ones from wclll. Anubarak made me think it would be hard
