Music: "Tanaris" from the World of Warcraft Soundtrack

I've always had this odd fixation on silithus and AQ. The zones & music have this really surreal, alien, soothing and sinister feel to them.
It's like starship troopers meets Egypt and Lovecraft, and is done really well.
me too. favourite zone, event, instance, story and boss
+Violinschluessel Yep, same here lol. Favorite raid ever (especially AQ40 more so than 20). Love everything about C'thun, love the minions he made in his image (Qiraji), just love the whole theme, lore, designs etc. 😃
In my headcannon there is an expansion like Rise of the Zandalari, where silithus gets a bit of a revamp. The plot being that the remnants of the worship, nerubeans, and mantid join forces to unleash a final swarm to restore their empires and avenge themselves on the world.
In the game, you beat the 6/6 C'thun. Just wait till he gets to 20/20
hearthstone reference?
@@jamjar978 yes
By far the most gripping and well paced lore readings on youtube, thank you.
Sauron Vs. C'Thun. Who would win?
I'm voting for C'Thun
C'Thun would win, not that Sauron isn't basically godlike
Very well made video dude, good job :)
TheLazyPeon ermagewd its dalazypewon.
TheLazyPeon Thanks! :D
+TheLazyPeon YAAAASSSSS
How did I not find a RUclips like you earlier, you're so far best at explaining lore
THANK YOU! I knew I wasn't crazy and remembered seeing all those weird c'thun quests on the PTR a zillion years ago. Thank you for making me not sound like a loony anymore lol
Total Biscuit had a video where he did them. Watchig it was just... they were sooo weird. Not surprising they never made it out of the PTR haha
Very useful now because of the new Hearthstone expansion.
Mebzy "my dreaming ends
your nightmare begins"
Very useful indeed
Fantastic video, exactly what i was looking for, thanks telling my friends about this.
Since there is titan/old god in imprisoned in world Azeroth, and Sargeras
wanted to free him,i believe in future he will free him,and his name is
Azathoth - from Lorecraft from which all old gods are named
after(cthulu-cthun,Yogg-saron-Yogg-sothoth etc.).What if all Old Gods
are actually one being called Azeroth/Azathoth,with Cthun being
eyes,Yogg-Saron being mouth,N'zoth being face and others.. ?
It is said,if you kill old gods, you destroy parts of Azeroth, and if you kill all of them,Azeroth dies..why ? because Azeroth itself is old god,and every other old god of azeroth is just part of that one creature.
So i believe Sargeras will free them all and they will become one being, and i believe that Sargeras will be last boss of WoW(in the end),and boss before him will be Azeroth/Azathoth.
TheMonkeyBusiness
You're close but just a little bit off. Azeroth isn't an Old God but is actually a titan.
Azeroth is a titan. Sargeras' plan is to destroy Azeroth because it is the Titan Soul of the strongest Titan that ever existed, strong enough to defeat Sargeras. I believe that at some point, Azeroth will either awaken or put its power into the bodies of Azeroth's heroes. Tyrande will definitely play a role as Elune's vessel and some other main characters might as well.
It will take a lot more than what Azeroth has right now to defeat Sargeras.
Not to mention the Void Lords, which are supposed to be at least as strong as the Titans, if not stronger.
TheMonkeyBusiness played legion yet?
I’m from the future. We beat sargeras and he stabbed a hole in silithus. So if he was going to free cthun. He just did.
Daaaaamn dude, this stuff makes me wish I was in the game when it happened. The cthun fight and uldawar look awesome to play through
I shared your video on the WoW subreddit if you don't mind, but I feel like this needs more views
Carbuncle Jones Thanks! I definitely don't mind.
Thanks for doing lore videos on subjects often not looked at individually. Thank you! Nice video and I wish you many subscribers!
you sure know how to tell a story. great video pal.
This is fantastic! well done dude! :)
C'Thun kinda looks like the Overmind.
+Milan Chambard He really does. Always wondered if one drew inspiration for the other.
+Milan Chambard Well C'thun is supposed to take inspiration from the Lovecraft Mythos. The Overmind, however, took inspiration from the Tyranid Hive Mind from Warhammer 40k.
Indoril Nerevar Moon-and-Star But the Overmind, just the Old Gods and the Old Ones, can drive people to a state of thought we commonly associate with being insane--take Kerrigan for example--when she is first infested she claims to like being Zerg and doesn't mind betraying her native species even though most everyone else just thinks she's crazy.
+Indoril Nerevar Moon-and-Star 40k pretty clearly took a lot of inspiration from Lovecraft's eminently spooky mythos, tho
AugustVonpetersborg In some things yes. The Tyranid most likely.
This C'Thun fucker looks very similar, by looks and by behaviour, to an Antic Faceless One.
(Warcraft 3 : The Frozen Throne reference)
c'thun! c'thuuun! c'thuuuuuuuuuuuuun!!!!!!!
That explains hearthstone cthun himself is weak but when powered up devastating
Great Vid man! Keep it up!
69,000 views on the dot! Great video, thank you for creating it!
By the way, I don't think you added the annotation for "Next Video" pointing to Yogg-Saron. That or it's not working.
+Raeth Fennec Thanks! :) I'll have to check the annotation when I get home. I have a feeling I just forgot. I'm good at forgetting to add those haha.

I keep thinking that WC and WoW (obviously) are actually a alternate universe of StarCraft where the Old Gods are the origin of what Zerg were before, Amon being the Magnum Tenebros as Old Gods are a inspired entities of Elder Gods from Lovecraftian history. Xel'Naga and Ouros being a reverse-Cthulhu trying to defeat Amon, while Terrans known as humans who have no idea what the actual fucks going on trying to cope with all this.
C'Thun's laser eye can and will attack your organs soooo hard that even your heart will blow up, like blast open your chest
so C'thun and friends are the eldrazi
+Smiff Based off similar styles of horror, yup.
Lore Whore
woo i knew it, HP Lovecraft
Amazing work! keep it up!!! you will Become the Lore Warchief!!!
And now with Hearthstone popularizing the old gods it is almost certain that they will do something with them again
Very cool!! What server do you play on?
Plague Gaming Thanks! I mostly play on Alleria (US) now.
Are the Old God creatures Linked to Azeroth? If so, kann different planets (like Draenor) could have something similar to the Old Gods?
Or are the Old Gods Universal and are simply on Azeroth because there were Events leading to their "landing" in Azeroth?
+PrimordialNightmare The Old Gods were made by the Void Lords to search for Titan World-Souls (baby Titans basically). There are countless Old Gods that have landed on countless worlds. The ones that landed on Azeroth found that it was a sleeping Titan, and began to corrupt it. That's why its so dangerous to kill the Old Gods. After so many millenia of corrupting the sleeping Titan, the Old Gods have created a sort of symbiotic relationship with the Titan. Killing the Old Gods would irreversibly damage the world-soul.
Not sure if Draenor had Old Gods before it was visited and shaped by the Titans, but there are hints and rumours of one being on Draenor. (Something crashed into Draenor that the Arakkoa began to worship, and then after Draenor broke into Outland, some Arakkoa tried summoning a being that has the same appearance as C'thun, to get revenge.)
+PrimordialNightmare The apexis crystals are remnants of the ancient Apexis civilizations, before a faction of the Arakkoa began worshipping the Old God, so probably not. I think Blizzard intends on fully fleshing out the Arakkoa history in one of the upcoming Chronicle Volumes, so hopefully we'll get some answers soon. :)
The name of this channel hahaha. Good video.
Amazing video my dude
This will go huge after Hearthstone: Whispers of the Old Gods expansion goes live :)
+Maulfurion Oh! That's why my channel exploded this weekend. Everyone looking up Old God lore after the Hearthstone xpac announcement. I can't believe I didn't put 2 and 2 together haha. You solved that mystery pretty thoroughly. :)
C’thun will probably use the power in gorschelach and reawaken or something.
On last nights raids i was still startled by his wisper:(
Aren't there 4 old gods? Not 5?
In the chronicle it is stated that no titan actually fought c'thun, it was the titan keepers who imprisoned him :) the only old god directly dealt with by the titans is Y'shaarj.
Liked it more before when the old gods were the shit :)
I would say pre patch Cthun was the old god at full strength!
in the beginning of the video he said "the 5 old gods" but i thought there were only 4?
well this video is 5 years old and its content is severely outdated. you know chronicles and stuff wasnt out then.
such a good video+1
keep up the good work
What I want to know is why Azeroth isn't fucked up because we've killed two Old Gods. Because the Titans only really killed one, and that Y'shaarj, who infected Pandaria with his breath
We didn't kill C'thun and Yoggsauron, we basically beat them back into their prison, and C'thun barely managed to manifest a couple eyes and teeth.
+Nooblet678 Exactly. That's the only reason we (40 no name adventurers) managed to 'beat' C'thun. Had he fully manifested physically, with his full might at his disposal...let's just say we wouldn't be beating h alone. That fight would be more like a planetary war, requiring many powerful, known named NPCs helping us, and even then I'm sure we the heroes would maybe barely win.
I wish we would have seen what Y'shaarj looks like though rather than just some artwork on what he may have looked like. And then there is N'zoth, the Old God that led Deathwing on the road to madness
+krika1119 Agreed, I'm interested to see what N'zoth will be like in-game though. Also I believe the Old Gods haven't quite been given the credit in-game they deserve. Considering It takes 8 Titans even to bring one down. I do hope there is some Old God lore in Legion.
Subbed love this
All old gods except n,zoth are dead or weakened. From what I've been hearing I'm starting to think legion is going to be more about n,zoth than the burning legion
C'thun speaks in one-liners I mean who else does that (c'thun is my favorite of the 4 old gods)
The God of the Deep writhes in his prison, breaking free ever so slowly. You should hurry and defeat the fallen titan... there are greater battles yet to fight.
Ahh the old gods. "Nglawath gror nax vanlrlgl." That means like, well done or something idk I'm not in any cults.
These aren't Tentacles..THESE ARE GENTACLES!!
Five old gods?
Four now, apparently. The Warcraft 3 manual, and the in-game book "The Old Gods and the Ordering of Azeroth" claimed there was five, but the new Chronicle book retconned that to four.
Owww Ok thanksfor reply :D
The 5th Old God isn't revealed yet. There are some really roughe sketches of it in the internet.
N''Zoth might be WoW visually revealed soon. Already revealed in the Hearthstone set.
4 old gods ysharag nzoth cthun and yogg
and an unknown old god, therefore 5
+Kyle Rockwell Redconned by the chronicles sadly. Only 4 remain. Or well, three, as Y'Shaarj was slain by Aman'thul. But that is just for Azeroth. There are countless more on other worlds.
medan isn't canon, you should probably mention that
Definitely wouldn't have included his bit, but it was only decanonized last year at blizzcon, well after the video was put out.
more.
NICE
god i hate the very concept of the old gods. the legion seemed bad enough, and then we find out their leader (who has pretty much never been seen or fought in game) has been trying to kill these things all along, with azeroth included on his shit list.
its like one of those threats u can't ever feel like ur even slowing down let alone defeat.
c'uthun yog and y'aj are confirmed by blizz to be dead and Thier influence wiped
mini doobs Proof?
the proof go read thier twitter account / check with any gm they will tell you thats why they removed cthun from cataclsym gamply they decide that they would have it set in stone we killed him and that they cant be reezed why they did this no idea i dont personally know the chocie they are making because that is prolly gonna influnce the game further down the line but go check it out i beileve if you look at some game files it says they are dead
Cthun is not dead!! My Master Will return
merely his avatar was defeated.
if he really was dead, then the environment might have some problems.
whos here cause of hs?
The reason the old god's don't help each other is probably a bi-product of their insanity
there were 4 gods not 5
I felt uneasy ans almost wanted to puke after hearing these old god lore. I dont know why.
such a flagrant Sauron rip off
one shots an old god
but...
but....
mecha'thun ????????/
6 childrens
oh my god....every bosses are severely weakened so players can beat them! big deal.
+Zylo Thecat
HOLY SHIT.... Bad day?
only 4 old gods xD
not 5
Be lowder
