    For all those who think Sargeras is corrupted by an old god or some malevolent force, nope, your wrong bro. Sargeras essentially corrupted himself because he saw that for every single planet the titans freed from the dark forces of the universe, there would be another 100 waiting for them. Basically their work would never end, no matter what they would do. The reason sargeras is trying to destroy the entire universe using the demons, is because obviously the demons are willing to do it. But Sargeras's ulterior motive to do it is that because he knew that no matter what the titans did, the evil part of the universe would never be destroyed. SO if he destroys the entire universe, even the good part, at least no universe, according to him, is better than one filled with evil in it. In a way, Sargeras is a tragic villain, because he still holds true to the titans original goal, which is the destruction of all that is evil in the universe. Even if it means the entire universe must die with it.

    I was in a curious , research minded mood and I stumbled on your channel when I watched your general history i.e up until the events of MoP. I really loved it. So I began to watch this, and then another and then another. You did a great job. Everything was clear, even after you got to the story after the events of the rts, like butchering of lore when the created WoW. The only flaws I found were not your's, it was all Blizzard either forgetting, ignoring or rewriting the plot for some reason or another. You have done an amazing job, and I rarely give such high and assured praise but kudos Sir.

    Aye, he was even listening to whispers before he recieved his aspect powers. The connection his aspect gave him made him more vulnerable and it was N'zoth who pulled the strings during Cata. It could be that all of them were whispering sweet words in his ears, but that doesn't make C'thun the one who corrupted him and hopefully my information not misleading... You're right about the lore changing, when it comes to old gods they like to do that... a lot!

    I know its not an old god, but still a nice picture to portray defeat ;) The thing is, we also never actually killed an old god. We fought a very small portion of them and even that we just simply pushed back beneath the world. On top of that, there is debate if our chars in WoW are part of Warcraft lore. The things we have done places us in the area of gods.

    We know the fourth now Y'shaarj, but he's "dead". According to the current version of The Old Gods and the Ordering of Azeroth they imprisoned 5 evil gods far beneath the earth. If we don't count C'thun as imprisoned (since they believe he was dead) then we still have 2 unknown old gods on Azeroth and the possibility of many more out there in the universe.

    Arthas what are you doing here?! Y'shaarj after the second war? No, the titans were long gone when that war started. 1 old god was killed, later to be named Y'shaarj the same one who took a titan with him (although uncertain if that titan was killed). They didn't mention Y'shaarj since that story was made in Classic WoW, before MoP.

    wouldn't it be amazing if it turns out that sargaras was corrupted by an old god... that would change everything. Imagine everyone fighting sargaras and finally after beating him an old god shows up. Because lets be honest he was the fighter, the others titans probably didn't get close to so many planets, if there are so many old gods out in worlds, constant corruption could have caused sargaras turn, especially since he turned quite rapidly which is strange considering the rest of the titans remained good.

    • @jaharned1
      @jaharned1 8 лет назад +3

      +xxJOHNLIKESPIExx Apparently he, essentially, corrupted himself. He is not so much evil as he is the misguided hero. The Void Lords, a race of beings that envied the Titans and yearned for their power, set out to corrupt the universe in hopes of corrupting unborn Titans within planets. When Sargeras found out about it, he thought the only way to defeat these beings was to erase the universe (*cough* Arthas *cough*) while the other Titans believed there had to be some other way (*cough* Uther *cough*). Thus, Sargeras disbanded from the Titans and allied himself with the Burning Legion (*cough* Scourge *cough*) seeking to destroy the entire universe.

    • @Anvarynn
      @Anvarynn 7 лет назад

      Sargeras Created the Burning Legion.
      Sargeras is absolutely afraid of the Void Lords and their power, so he set out on his "Burning Crusade" to destroy all life so that the Void Lord's couldn't use their servants (Old Gods) to corrupt them.

    • @Anvarynn
      @Anvarynn 7 лет назад

      To include destroying baby Titan Souls that have too much corruption from Old Gods.

    • @Anvarynn
      @Anvarynn 7 лет назад +1

      To quote source:
      "As the Pantheon's greatest warrior, Sargeras, hunted the vile creatures wherever he could find them, he soon learned that some demons had learned to wield Void energies. He was puzzled by this, but continued his work nonetheless.
      One day, however, Sargeras discovered a world-soul that had been almost completely corrupted by the Old Gods. Its surface was covered in Void energies, and the normally tranquil dreams of the nascent titan had been twisted into horrific nightmares.
      Sargeras ruthlessly interrogated the black world's nathrezim inhabitants, who had come to dwell amongst the Old Gods, and through them he learned of the void lords and their intentions. Enraged and anguished, Sargeras smote the demons and cleaved the corrupted world in two, instantly killing the world-soul within. It was this event that led Sargeras to abandon his brethren in the Pantheon, form the demonic Burning Legion and vow to purge the cosmos of all life - in his mind, a lifeless universe was better than one absolutely ripped apart by the Void, for he argued that if life had once taken root in the Great Dark on its own, perhaps it would do so again."

    Azeroth was formed by the titans. On which they put 'The Earthen' to shape it for them while they went off somewhere else and the guardians were a specific sort of Dragons(in the video). The Earthen were sort of huge Golems that shaped the earth and the only race there were the Night Elves and Druids etc, some of them were power crazed along with their Queen that went crazy over power (lust for magic) because of a Dreadlord(ofc). Which lead to war and the Well of Eternity, the source of their power blew up scaring the earth and deviding the continents (today its the 'Maelstorm' the trace of the explosion from the Well). The Earthen were damaged and burried themselves deep within to heal. After they came out, their stone skin tturned to flesh and they shrinked becoming Dwarves (Yes the Dwarves were Earthen once) which explains how well they are good with their hands on materials and crafting. Illidan took a few drops from the Well because he wanted the power left, he used the drops on mount Hyjal which resulted the World Tree(not Illidans plan).
    Edit: After the Well exploded, whoever was in the blast radius turned into Nagas.

    • @Anvarynn

      Azeroth existed before the Titans arrived. Azeroth is a baby Titan Soul that has not yet awakened. The Titans only wanted to shape it and order it so that it would awaken in the best possible state, they did not themselves create Azeroth.

    AMAZING video, as always :D I just have a quick question that maybe someone can help me with? At ~ 2:38 you said that killing an old god would mean the destruction of Azeroth, yet at ~2:53 you say that an old god was killed? So was Azeroth destroyed or was the "curse of flesh" not a real thing? OR did I simply misunderstand this part?
    Thank you, anyone that can help me :D
    *edit* Second question xD If the titans were the creators of the Well of Eternity, why did Sargeras even need it? Wouldn't he be even MORE powerful than the well? Seeing as how he was someone that made it in the first place? And if the titans were the creators of the Well, then how did Sargeras not know about it? Why did it take the night elves misusing arcane energy in order for him to find out about it?

    I know that this probably been said a lot but the titan that fell to the old gods could be a reference to sargeras. Like you said the fallen titan might not mean the titan died. It could mean corrupted or fallen to evil. Now in wow who is everyone's favorite "fallen" titan/evil titan? Think bout it Sargeras was the titan's champion. Who else would they send to kill an old god? Just my two cents. I mean I know most people say Sargeras is the ultimate baddie in wow but if you go back in wow lore most times people become corrupt unless some one is behind the scene pulling the strings.

      + kelly johnstone It makes some sense. Don't it? Also if you add the fact that in the last War of the Ancients book that the Old Gods wanted Sargeras to step through the portal it gives some merit to the theory.

      I doubt Sargeras fell or became corrupted by an old god that way. i prefer the explanationn that he became depressed because of the evil of demons and then came up with his own solution to the problem. Makes for a more interesting supervillain, than the usual old-god pawn story

      ***** in that case, Sargeras is not trying to kill the Pantheon or the Titan race is he? Its simply the interference with nature done by the Titans that he is against, believing its ultimately responsible for the demons
      it makes sense, many humans would feel the same way if we start creating new species that fuck up the whole system

  • @Karby0006
    @Karby0006 8 лет назад

    Old gods came first and started the Curse of Flesh so they can assimilate the planet easier. The curse was aimed to corrupt non-fleshy creatures (titan creations). But Titans weren't there at the time of the Curse start hence no titan creations could be corrupted. I don't get this part.

    Hi Nobbel, I intend to buy the entire book collection asap, and I want to start with the beginning ofc :D Where do I find the information regarding this particular piece of lore? titans -> old gods etc.

  • @CorvintusDK
    @CorvintusDK 11 лет назад

    Depends on the view of it.
    Sargeras felt a despair, some believe it was the Dreadlords, Mal'Ganis example, who poisoined his mind.
    Some that it was simply the endless fighting against demons.
    All in all, he began to see the work of the titans as wrong, that they were trying to change, what should not be changed, as it was made for a purpose.
    If I should explain all of it, I'd need a lot more space than what youtube allow me :)

    Hey Nobbel, can you do a lore video about the Naaru? If in the next expansion we'll have the mighty light-darkness battle, I think they will play a major role in that. Also how do they tie to the titans? Were they helping the titans in their crusade against the demons or were they created by the titans to watch over their worlds?

  • @Pompin
    @Pompin 11 лет назад

    All of this was actually mentioned in the video (except that "whatever transformed Azshara and her highborn into naga" most likely was a old god whispering to them) but since you seemed a bit confused I though I might as well try to clarify, I hope it helped :)

    Would it be possible that the titan that fell at 2:50 would be referring to Sargaras? How I imagine there way of saying "fell" is Sargaras beginning to have his doubts on the Titans and he was even entitled "The Fallen". I doubt I'm right but I thought I could share my thoughts, I love your videos Nobble87 can't wait to see more :)

    Apparently there are seven Old Gods total on Azeroth, with four named, and three now dead (as N'Zoth is still around). But we can never truly know how many there are, as you're right, there could be many more out there in the universe.

  • @Rox159th
    @Rox159th 11 лет назад

    We've already fought multiple Old Gods, though. The reason that the Titans didn't destroy the Old Gods was because they actually multiply when they are killed, which makes it smarter to just imprison them whole beneath Azeroth. Y'shaarj is supposed to be an Old God that was killed, but the Sha were formed as leftover remnants of him. Keep in mind, the titans were able to imprison these old gods, and Sargeras used to be their leader. He's a pretty dangerous enemy.

      Nobbel87 Even there you barely get any information,tbh if you want answers about the old gods then you should check the lore that the old gods are inspired from,H.P lovercraft the call of Cthulu,I bet a big parts from that lore exist in the universe of Azeroth,but that raise the question who is the equivlient to Azhazoth in Azeroth's universe,that being will have to be the most powerfull being in the universe.

      Play game, clearly only for lore. Also read WoWWiki a lot, and don't forget to check if the information correct with other alike sources. Read books is good too, but they don't explain as much. But you surely shud read books ingame.
      Oh and yeah, play all the Warcraft games, including 1 and 2.

    Sargeras reminds me a bit of Sisyphus: he keeps banishing demons and keeping order within the universe, only for more demons and chaos to spring up again. It's no wonder he gave in to despair and turned against the Titans, I think anyone would if you had to carry out such futile work.

    One of the Generals of the old gods was Thunderaan. You see him in the Legendary-Sword Quest for Thunderfury. Thunderaan was tricked by Ragnaros (after all both were rivals), entraped and his prison cut in 2 parts. Ragnaros gave those parts two 2 of his own generals. Lord Geddon and Garr. The elemental leaders, like Rangaros, served the old gods and are far from friendly (you saw that after Thunderaan was brought back)

    also, there's the slight factor of the Darkshore 'Old God'
    You see, I didn't get the impression he was really an Old God. I think he was a great servant of the Old Gods.
    Also, (at least in the vanilla days) Naga were along the coastline of Stranglethorn.
    But who knows.

    When the well imploded it dragged everything around it down with it, including a large amount of elves and their queen. But as they were being dragged down into the depths, the queen heard a voice of a unknown being that promised them life in return for their aid when he needed it. The queen accepted and she and her people were transformed into the first of the Naga, causing them to survive. The remnants of the well can be still be found in the middle of the sea, in the form of the Maelstrom
