Calling it, the Maw used to be the place through which all souls passed, not Ouribos (or Ouribos used to be in the Maw). That's why it has a massive soul river with bridge architecture that seems to go back to an earlier time. That's why there are ways in and out. That's why Ouribos is stuck in some random point in the sky rather than on its own little realm in the Shadowlands.
Having no suitable place to trap the Jailer, the Eternal Ones sealed him in his own realm, and then took Ouribos (or fashioned it from some other remnant of the First One's work) and placed it where it is today, right above the Maw to intercept souls coming in. That's why souls go straight to the Maw when the Arbiter was broken: they are SUPPOSED to go to the Maw in order to meet the true Arbiter. He's called the Jailer now because instead of choosing where souls go and sending them there, he just jails them in his realm.
Perhaps Torgast did also once operate as a prison for irredeemable souls when he was the Arbiter, which would have made the realm even more apt as the prison for Zoval.

    • @thor.mukbang
      @thor.mukbang 3 года назад +10

It's worth pointing out that The Maw isn't the islands within it. It's called "The Maw" because it opens to consume anything that falls/flies into it. It's some kind of cloud, maybe a sphere, that traps anything within it. As demonstrated with Korthia and Oribos, The Maw can expand to pull islands into it.
I don't believe The Maw existed before Zovaal was imprisoned. I believe Torghast is the original Oribos, including the soul river island nearby. The Maw was created around Torghast to imprison Zovaal, and the Arbiter was fashioned with Zovaal's heart to keep souls from flowing into the river and towards Torghast.

The river of souls immediately reminded my of the River Styx. Literally the river by which all souls come to the Underworld.
And we see the same streams of souls going to Ouribos when the Arbiter was functional, so clearly this is just how souls work when coming to the Shadowlands.

Only Thrones looked like that. Most Angels in the Bible look like people. Angels, Archangels, Dominions, Principalities, Powers, and Virtues all look like your run of the mill depiction of an Angel, appearing human with a single pair of wings. Seraphim are also like this, but with three pairs of wings: one pair for movement, one for covering the face, and one for covering the feet.
Thrones are the big wheels and then Cherubim look kinda like Seraphim, but have four heads: a Man, an Ox, an Eagle, and a Lion (also used to represent the four writers of the Gospels).
Barring all this, all of the Choirs of Angels are servants, including the highest Seraphim. So the Light Pantheon shouldn't look like any particular Choir, but their servants definitely should. Honestly, even the Naaru give off subtle Throne vibes, so the Throne depiction could be like an eldritch Naaru wheel

This is consistent with my own theory. Grimiores reveals the scars and runes placed on zovaal are done so by the primus in the language of the first ones. Domination magic is the method by which life and death and other forces can be bent to the will of the weilder.
The grimiores also reveal to us that the titans are made in the image of the first ones inheriting traits or aspects of them. Chronicles has long established life needs to ebb (machine of death) and flow (emerald dream/life) to develop the world soul (no shit this is all on the wiki.)
The entire purpose of the balance of all this shit is so titan souls would emerge and order reality. If you look at the cosmic chart reality is at the center of all these forces and Azeroth is the final worlds soul. The forces that finally claims it will be the one to remake reality or order it or consume it or corrupt it or whatever.
The entire expansion the jailer is screaming "DEATH COMES FOR THE SOUL OF YOUR WORLD" and the covenant leaders keep screaming "HE MADE HIS CHAINS A WEAPON."
Zovaal intends to dominate or soul bind with the slumbering world soul of azeroth for the purpose of attaining that which the entire purpose of all these forces work together to propagate life and death on planets for emergent titans.

In comparison, all the other zones have that feeling that they were built and constructed, Maldraxxus is just a raw piece of land that had part of it stripped from it.

I'm leaning towards there is a pantheon for each of the 6 forces, and the first ones made the 6 forces and each pantheon. The titans are the pantheon of order, eternal ones are the pantheon of death, and Elune was probably on the pantheon of life. Although I think she kind of went rogue like Zoval tried to do, but was actually successful. Maybe she even "killed" the other members of her pantheon. Sargeras also went rogue and "killed" the members of his pantheon, so there's a pattern there. Maybe there is one member of each pantheon that tried to take over their respective pantheons in order to make a super pantheon with one member from each of the 6 lol.

I think the real important part about how Sylvanis first made it to the maw had to do with saronite. Remember that only the helm and blade of the lich king were forged of stygia/shadowsteel (my guess is shadowsteel is an alloy or refined form of stygia) and that the rest of the gear the lich king used was saronite forged. My thoughts are that yogg'saron betrayed the other old gods and void for the powers of death... we do know of other necrotic powers on azeroth before the lich king like galakgrond but that's one that I can't really speculate on cause we still have no idea who or what empowered galakgrond. Heck, maybe yogg'saron was the method the void used to infiltrate the shadowlands all that time ago, maybe he's the real double agent who broke zovald out of maw-prison cause what better way to end all of existence then to just empower beings who want to try to. Maybe zovald is more of a pawn then he truly thinks, we already know that many of his minions ignore him when they feel they can... like maybe that's why we don't know about what the drust are really up to?
Meh, I can speculate and I can write but honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if the blizzard rot has reached the story team a long time ago and we're just working off scraps of notes from the last decent writer on their team long ago fired. Honestly, while I want to hope there is a good plan here, it's hard not to worry about the real world problems surrounding their company

I'm pretty sure that if Sylvanas was judged normally she would have ended up in Maldraxxus. She has always been a fighter who doesn't hesitate to use any means necessary to accomplish her goal: developing plagues, allying with truly despicable beings like dreadlords, stabbing old allies in the back, resurrecting both enemies and allies as new soldiers for her army and so on. She would be incredible asset for Undying Army. She also seemed to have strong sense of duty and was willing to die on battlefield defending her people but she's also way too emotional to ever be a proper Kyrian. She is antihero character and seems to have some character flaws like arrogance so maybe she could end up with short trip to Revendreth, but I don't think so. Houses of Maldraxxus would welcome her with open arms just the way she was at the end of WotLK and instead of supressing her emotions she could use them to fuel her strength.

I mean, like Taliesin said in his video, the 2 maps are both cannon 2D representations of a 3D space. The only relative positions that are fixed are about the pairs of opposite cosmic forces (life is always opposite to death, void to light, order to disorder) and all converging at the realm of reality, which is why it's at the center. According to this changed lore... supposedly Zovaal made the Frostmourne blade itself so he had a grasp on her soul long before she jumped off the top of Icecrown. When she did jump off and supposedly die....he could either have one of his corrupted val'kyr drop her off back in the world of the living.... "or" what we have learned of the Limbo quest in Bastion... the Kyrians have a rule not to take any soul that was raised with necromancy. Quite the opposite, they are required to send it back, even if it doesn't want to go. So whichever one of those two possibilities....Sylvanas would have been taken back to Azeroth under the control of whatever necromancy made her a banshee. And since that stopped being the Lich King during warcraft 3....that meant the only thread of necromancy that made her a banshee was her captured soul fragment in Frostmourne...which was in the possession of Zovaal; even after the blade itself broke.

    i got a small theory...
    what if..
what if Azeroth is actually the Arbiter???
what if Azeroth was meant to become a titan that house the soul of the Arbiter??
what if Zoval made Sageras go mad by making him believe that to defeat the void he has to destroy every thing?
what if Sageras with his obssesion to destroy all life Stab Azeroth as the last world left and that cause the Arbite to shut down??
The Arbiter shut down during Legion, so what if Azeroth's soul is the counter part of the Arbite and her getting stab meant that the Arbiter felt the shock??
WHAT IF THE FIRST ONES CREATED AZEROTH TO HOUSE THE ARRBITER'S SOUL SO IN THE SHADOWLANDS SHE WOULD BE IMPOSSIBLE TO DEFEAT AND THAT IS WHY ZOVAL WANTED DEATH FOR AZEROTH??HE MUST BE DEATH...
death comes for the soul of your world...

I like this. The dreadlords working behind sargeras but their loyalty to denathrius. Sargeras stabbed Azeroth thus shutting down the arbiter and affecting the shadowlands now denathrius has access to anima, sylvanas has made a pact with death and opens the sky for death to be released, Zovaal. Now the tables have turned on sylvanas and zovaal escapes with controlled anduin to the waystone, to Azeroth, to silithus where the final battle will take place. Denathrius in remornia gets released now the plot twist… denathrius finds out or has already known that zovaal cheated and betrayed the plan. Denathrius and the dreadlords vs zovaal and his army. How will Azeroth wake up? Have no idea but I’m assuming the infinity ball in his chest and the sword to be removed from Azeroths heart.
Actually it makes sense that the arbiter shuts down after sargeras stabs the heart of Azeroth

The Soul splintering storywise seems like it was meant to soften you up to the idea that Sylvanas's soul was also damaged. Since that is true, obviously we all wonder if a massive uhh soul pardon would come but even Uther does say. Its not necessarily Uther going to bastion is all noble and good and the one that went to Frostmourne is just all the negatives. It seems to be just a part of you is lost.
It will be interesting to see Sylvanas's response to being whole again. Its 50/50 on her being just as determined that the cycle had to be broken and she justifies herself blah blah blah, cause well Sylvanas and she isn't Uther. I don't see them just pardoning her, she may just decide to work on her own and try and stop Zovaal instead of telling us info. I know the general internet sentiment is not wanting to work with her and I agree...mostly but she knows Zovaal best(outside of the big man himself) and we need her.
IMO we should prepare our minds with the possibility that Sylvanas may end up taking Zovaal's old job but.....actually do it better(Basically she is now a psuedo god of death). The other possibility is she might mindwipe her painful memories(Undeatth and so on and so forth).
What I'm worried about is.....poor Anduin and I'm feeling rather cynical on that front.

Part of me wonders if none of the 6 cosmic forces had any "personification" beings in our reality until a lesser deity created them. There would have definitely been "Light" as a force, and "Arcane" as a force, and "Void" as a force....but the smaller beings with minds and voices and preferences and goals which we recognize from those forces are not those forces themselves. The Naaru do not create the Light...they just prefer it, and have goals with it, and use it. Same with Titans, they are not Arcane itself...they did not create the Arcane...they just prefer it, and have goals with it, and use it. Likewise with the void lords, they are not Void itself...they did not create the Void...they just prefer it, and have goals with it, and use it. So what if a deity that is lesser than the First Ones ended up "creating" beings that would associate themselves with those forces? This could have been Elune. Even if Elune was only a being associated with the force of Life...maybe it was an impulse of that pantheon to create Life for other cosmic forces. So maybe Elune created the Naaru, and the Void lords, and the Titans, and the Eternals of death, and any pantheon beings that may exist for disorder which we've never heard of..... ? And no, Elune would not have created the Life force itself, she would also just prefer it and have goals for it and use it. Elune would have emerged into existence because the non-personified Life force just does that as one of its' functions. Creating the personified beings of each force would also help to explain why Eonar lives on, and hides in, a place called Elunaria. And it would help to explain why X'era believes that all Naaru were created by Elune. And it would explain why there is a winter queen who needs help from a more powerful Elune to return nature gods back to reality.

After having their souls split both Uther and Sylvanas did things that were grossly our of character for their living self. (the magnitude of the crime isn't a factor. Uther mentions how his soul wasn't split into noble and cruel rather a portion of him frozen in time. So the splintered being that he was still had the capabilities of making choice, of doing 'right'. The return of a full soul, the part that was frozen in time...I imagine it looking at the man he became, the choices he made, the road walked from a PoV of the man he was back on Azeroth and be like WOAH...how did that happen. Reflection. Similar thing for sylvanas. They give a description to how she was in life during Edge of Night. That part would now be WOAH and offer reflection/new look on things.

    • @Metsa25
      @Metsa25 3 года назад

@@Nobbel87 I agree with that. It just seems to me that whatever was in those crystals had to have been the thing that made the difference between Uther and Sylvanas doing a 'thing' and not doing a 'thing.' What if the crystal contains their (lets call it )"Moral Willpower"; The thing that keeps you from pushing a racist jackass down a flight of stairs. You know there is a certain justification for doing it, but it's just wrong to do. What if that filter is gone, and then a 'friend' or authority figure gives you a job, and whispers in your ear "It's okay. It's for the best. It's the right thing to do." At that point how much responsibility do they bear for ... let's say ... tossing a soul or burning a tree. :) They should both, but especially Sylvanas, suffer emotionally while coming to terms with what they've done. But in term of justice and punishment I think they both have a pretty good 'diminished capacity' defense.

Maybe the difference between Sylvanas and Uther is that the part of her soul that was not sucked into Frostmourne was made into a Banshee, her soul had the Maw fingerprint on it when she died, so she went straight there. Wonder why Arthas didn't raise Uther, big lost opportunity to create a powerful Death Knight right there ;D. I kept wondering where she would have gone. The Grimoire makes it sound like Ardenweald is only for druids, shamans and hunters. That is probably missing a few, as priestesses of Elune would most likely end up there, I think.
Sylvanas was a ranger (i.e. hunter) and the Folks & Fairytales story makes it seem like Ardenweald would be her destination. I thought of Bastion as well, she was (even in undeath) very dedicated to serving her people. But I think Bastion is more fit for those who are less independent. she didn't really have an almost absolute respect for authority like, say, Uther.

  • @AgentVamp
    @AgentVamp 3 года назад

Here's a question: Where would Arthas end up naturally?
I think he'd have all of his excess pride extracted at Revendreth and then either (depending on which intentions strike more true) be:
    - Part of Bastion on his way to Redemption with Uther as a valiant defender, perhaps even becoming a Paragon of Wisdom of some sort
    or
    - Be a part of Maldraxxus due to his aggressive style of combat and tactical mind. I say Maldraxxus because he's always been very forward in his thinking even as a Paladin, wanting to do what's best for his people, rather than what the Light would want him to do.

I came up with some kind of theory. Mean Nobbel talked about first souls in Shadowlands. But what if Eternal Ones are the first mortal souls. Mean when them died, First Ones realized that them didn't have afterlife. So them made one and used first mortal souls to make Pantheon of Death. That is why them aren't like aren't soulless machines doing just their duty as Death Pantheon. We see them get angry, happy, sad etc. Be more mortal like.
Also what if all the SL realms were like Maw and Korthia before. Shaped by First Ones. But since Eternal Ones took realms for themselves to lead. It transformed represent more of them and Korthia/Maw were left without master (consirning Jailer was Arbiter so he might not had realm like others). Them stayed pure.

On the cosmic forces map the dream and slands circle reality just beyond its realm. The purpose of life and death has always been for world souls to develop into titans. That is the purpose of the ED and SL and are developing the world souls of planets. The titans were also aware of this and ordered planets for the propagation of life so that the world soul would develop and emerge.

Odyn should have been a covenant leader all along. What he does is literally same with others except he does not seek for anima but worthy battles.

Odyn was a titan creation. He was made to fight the old gods that had infested Azeroth. So he's kinda like an Eternal Ones' little nephew.

This channel is the only place where WoW can still be interesting. Story presented in a logical way.
Too bad the game is the opposite, on top of being just horribly designed.

it's so weird that there are completely separate realms from reality for only 2 of the 6 forces.
Like the Shadowlands aren't the same as the power of death or a realm of pure death. all other 5 forces seem to still be present in them. There's just so much we don't know either because blizzard wants to keep things open for now or just stuff that hasn't been clearly addressed. why have a pantheon of death when it works fundamentally different in its own realm than the titan pantheon? Though it seems interesting that both pantheons have members that are aligned with forces other than the one assigned to them. Eonar is a bridge to life for the titans and so is the Winter Queen in the Shadowlands. On the other hand, they don't seem to go all the way with this either? Like there's obviously no void aligned titan f.e. or the whole Sargeras thing wouldn't have made sense in the first place. Same thing in the shadowlands.

I klnow who the first ones are. They are a desperate attempt from blizzard to put another "first" before the titans. And after that we will have the first first ones, the first first first ones, etc.

Nobody is supposed to be able to leave the maw except the player, but still Zovaal manage to send Frostmourn on Azeroth ?
    Ups or Purolator ?
How did he communicated with the Legion, the Lich King or Nerzhul ?
I thought Blizzard has great stories, but Shadowlands destroyed it all.

I have a problem with that, void is nothing. It’s the opposite of reality not light, shadow is the opposite of light. Void and shadow are different things.
