Does anyone else that has seizures ever feel like you just don’t belong or randomly apologize for having epilepsy?

Briviact also causes memory issues and word finding difficulties in myself. But a lot worse was lamotrigine.

I'm using Lamotrigine since 23 years, and yeah, i've had troubles at school for learning. In 2018 they've added Topamax, it was even worse. i was suicidal. The moment when i finally started talking about it, apparently Topamax causes depression and suicidal thoughts. It's insane

I was given Topamax after I began to have seizures--I could not take the medication and function. I think the neurologist did this deliberately as he thought I had "PNES" and wanted to teach me a lesson. I started doctor shopping and now have an epilepsy diagnosis after a hospital stay.

I take 100mg of topamax daily.. I have terrible memory loss and struggle to find my words. I don’t like this medication, I have been on this over 6 months and yet to find it affective 😔

I was on the same dose, been on it since March 2023. Just decreased to 50mg combined with lamictal. Genuinely terrified since topamax stopped my seizures but I feel like ive slowly lost myself because of it. I think at this point I'd rather have another seizure and go back to the drawing board than to put up with this.

I have had epilepsy for forty years and now take a cocktail of three anticonvulsants ( two of them you mentioned which are Clobazam and zonisamide plus an antipsychotic drug generic form for Invega. My memory has become forgetful as also has been my slowed down my thinking and speech. I also take the generic form of Vimpat. I started with phenobarbital and may have taken Topamax ( unsure).

Topimax almost took my life, and destroyed my kidneys. But there are way more meds than this listed, like keppra the rage drug has been hard but its better than topimax or topiraimate depending on the prescription. But topimax was the scariest of them all.

I’ve been on all of them and the worst were zonisamide and Toppamax. On Zonisamide I felt like a depressed zombie that couldn’t sleep with night sweats and on Toppamax, my seizures tripled in three months and I almost became anorexic because I never wanted to eat.

    • @raeechil

They all can, personally I feel like my memory improves with lamictal due to its mood stabilizing effects. It takes me out of fight or flight mode, I just had an increase and it effected my speech and sleep more than anything else.

I had epilepsy many years ago and I don't have any seizures for many years. So is there any difference in my brain even though I didn't have any seizures in the past few years. please tell me asap

I’ve taken them all. They all have substantial side effects (like dizziness, sleepiness, irritability, memory impairment, speech impairment, coordination issues). Most of these side effects subside or lessen with time. Fycompa made me feel very depressed and Vimpat gave me terrible palpitations.

I've been getting lots of issues with expressing myself and getting words out and i've been feeling drowsy , sometimes a bit confused or unaware after i take my dose of 1/2 depakine chrono + carbamazepine

My 9 year old daughter had possible seizures first time 4 months back. Tests like CT scan and EEG test showed nothing. But her Dr. Has prescribed Syrup Sodium valproate 10ml twice for 2 years. It has been 4 months without anything. But I'm worried if it really was epilepsy or he just feel and fainted and side effects of the medicine. Should I continue the medicine?

Topomax is literally ruining my life, why would my dr keep me on it if it isn’t even working? They just prescribed xcopri, but it hasn’t come in yet, but I’m supposed to take both. I think I’m going to call and ask to be taken off of topomax today. I feel like the dumbest person in a group of people. I don’t like to tell stories anymore because I lose my train of thought and can’t speak without stuttering. Everyone gets frustrated with me and I feel useless. I use to be smart. I have a bachelors degree in graphic design that I can’t even use because I don’t remember half of what I learned. I call out of work all the time and everything falls on my husband. Im sick of crying every day.
